Chapter One
“Apocalypse! Apocalypse! Damn it, quiet fucking around. You know mom and dad would skin both of us alive if they knew that you came up here.” Came a masculine voice from a male wrapped in tight clothing of the ninja. His human form was strong and a cowl floated eerily behind him. His face lay hidden within a hood that only allowed his eyes to be visible, deep crimson orbs shinning as he looked over the jungle like field.
Two sais lay against his hips with a third hidden in the small of his back. He leapt up on a large boulder that had at one time been the head of the Statue of Liberty. He glared around to see wolves in the outskirts of his vision, watching him. He whistled and the wolves broke, racing off into heavily wooded area to find something.
“What are you doing up here Fallen?” A voice asked from behind the male in deep black clothing.
The male whirled around to glare at a being with blond hair touching feather light against his jaw. Crystal blue eyes stared at the male in the black clothing and a smile spread over his full lips. The being cocked his hip out and placed a hand on it, emphasizing his narrow boyish frame in flowing white robes.
“The war is over, we have lost.” The male replied, “I wish no war, no battle. I only wish to find my sister and go in peace, back into the Lower World.”
“But you have trespassed; you have traveled to the middle world, a place forbidden to Fallen after the war. It was part of the Treaty.” The being replied flames burning within his eyes, his smile turning malicious.
The male heard a howl in the distance and looked towards it, then back at the being, “I was never a part of the war. My sister and myself are the last so called children of our kind, thanks to you.” The male stood proud, “I have no fight with you. I shall take my sister and we will take our leave of this Middle World, this place that has been stained with the blood of our race. The air is too clean, so I will leave it to the likes of you.” He turned his back to the being, hoping the escape.
“Really…” The being sounded amused, “You think that we can just allow the Fallen to break the Treaty with no repercussions of your actions. This would only allow others the notion to do the same? Neh, we must punish those that do not heed the rules of the Treaty.”
“Helios, have you nothing better to do? Have you learned nothing from the Dark Ones that took no part in that war, the ones that remained with us while you of Light reigned down fire on us after the mortals were gone?” The male figure questioned darkly at the being before him.
The being threw back his head and laughed with his very soul, “Sweet child of darkened breed, I had less to do with the war then they would have you believe. My arrows always true to strike a mortal’s death in a single blow yes, but to harm one of your kin, well I leave that up my siblings.” He said off handedly.
“Of course, after taking on your own kin as a lover, how can one expect you to fight in a war, a male no less.” The blacked clothed male replied with malice.
Helios laughed with glee, “Sounds to me like you may be jealous, young…” He paused and reflected for a second, “What is it you said your name was again?”
The male in black glared at Helios, “I never gave it.” He said as he crouched to take flight.
“Genesis! Genesis, I’m sick of this place, brother, please take me home.” Came a females voice.
A female stepped in the clearing, her white flowing dress flowed around her, showing off her small breast on pale skin that looked close to translucent against the white fabric on the dress. Her hair was a deep crimson that lay in rich curls to frame her small childish face. Red eyes went wide with shock as she stared at Helios with awe and terror.
“Ah, so this is Apocalypse…” Helios commented, “So supple and young. A virgin, a cherry to be taken as by my right if I so choose before I kill her for breaking the Treaty.”
Apocalypse backed up and found a tree at her back, “I’m sorry. Please don’t punish my brother. Do as you will with me, I care not, but this is not my brother’s will nor is it his fault. He merely came here to retrieve me. I ask of you might Light One to spare him.” She said with tears threatening to spill from her eyes.
Helios smiled as he looked between the two siblings, wondering exactly how much alike they looked. From what he could see on Genesis, his skin was a dark tan almost a cross between pure ivory and deepest obsidian.
He stepped forward and then was gone, moving faster then Genesis could track. Genesis heard a gasp from his sister and turned his attention to her to see Helios held her around her waist. A hand had grasped her hair, pulling it painfully to the side to expose her ivory neck.
“Tell you what Genesis. You answer the questions I wish to know, and I will let your sister go if I like the answer.” He teased, though deep within he felt like his deeds mirrored that of his distant cousin, Set. “Agreed?” He asked.
The male’s shoulders literally dropped slightly as he realized his position, “You swear on your power that you will let my sister go if I answer your question?” He asked.
Helios looked at him, surprised at his care for his sister over his own existence which was not part of the deal, “Even if I don’t like your answer, I will allow her to return to the Lower World with her kind and the Dark Ones.” He said.
“Genesis, no! You know what we are. Without you or without me, our race will die.” Apocalypse busted out but gave a soft mew at the pain of her head being forced further to the side.
“Silence girl.” Helios whispered then looked to see the distress on Genesis’s face. “So do we have a deal?”
“Yes.” Genesis replied, “What do you want to know?” He asked in a soft voice.
Helios let Apocalypse go and glared at her, “Leave now!” He growled.
“She cannot return to the Lower World without me.” Genesis replied, “She can only enter the Middle World, but she cannot return by herself. That is why I am her protector.”
Helios looked at him with a raise eyebrow, “Well it seems we have a dilemma here, do we not sweet Fallen?”
“I can return her to the Lower World and return to you to interrogate me. I swear on my power as a Fallen.” Genesis spoke quickly, knowing he would have to keep his promise.
Helios seemed to think it over and then looked at him, “You realize if you break your word, you will fade from existence, correct? Do you truly understand this?”
Genesis nodded and looked to his sister, “Let us go and I will return.”
“Brother, you can’t.” She said with tears streaming down her face, “You are so close. So very close. Are you truly willing to give it up after others have died to only come half as far as you?” She questioned.
“There are others more qualified then I to continue onward.” Genesis replied.
Apocalypse was in distress, “Those old ones? They are about as sane as Yahweh’s children.”
“Apocalypse!” Genesis warned darkly, “We are Fallen, one in the same. Just because half of Yahweh’s children have lost their minds is no reason to condemn them all.”
“One thing before you go. Just one question then you can return and we can talk in depth.” Helios replied.
Genesis glared at the Light One, “What?” He demanded, his mood sour at the prospect of never again returning to the Lower World after this visit.
“Careful young Fallen.” Helios warned, “I know that you can open a portal and allow your sister to travel back to the Lower World without you. I let you go to say your good-byes for only a while. For I have no plans on killing you but others may.” Genesis was shocked at the Light One’s understanding of his powers.
“What is it you wish to know?” His tone was softer but his words were still dripping with malice.
Helios looked at him, all amusement gone from his face, “Who are your parents?”
Genesis was shocked at the question, “My mother is San’Arkmem and my father is Diotepp.” He replied.
“San’Arkmem is the child of the Lower World Daemons not born of Yahweh’s fire. But Diotepp. I know that he is child to Yahweh with a few generations removed, please, if you don’t mind. Tell me his genealogy before going. Or you can leave and tell me when you return.” Helios replied as if disinterested in the answer.
Genesis did not like talking about his parents with this Light One and worried that he would give away something that would have Helios kill him, “I will answer it when I return.” He said promptly as he took his sister’s arm and a large portal opened, black haze with gray streaming lights swirled within. They stepped through and were gone.
“Do you think he may be the one?” Came a male voice from behind Helios.
“Eros, my love. I do believe he is the one that Hecate spoke of. But remember she said the child must be of the twisted siblings love and the unrequited love of the twin and his son.” Helios replied without turning back as arms encircled his waist and warm breath moved across his ear.
Eros whispered, “Is it as Hecate says? Am I to loose my love to a Fallen? Because if that is the case, I will kill him without a thought.”
“But the mortals.” Helios replied softly.
“Fuck the mortals. They turned to that bastard brat last time, what makes you think he will not interfere to do so again” Eros questioned.
“Faith.” Helios replied, “I shall not fall in love with the Redeemer. I love you and only you.”
“But you entertain thoughts of him, I can see it in your eyes as you talk to him.” Eros replied softly again but agitation in his voice.
Helios laughed, “And you tell me that you do not wonder what exotic skin lay under the black clothing that hides his form. What color his hair is, how it will fill to run your fingers through it, whether it is straight, curly or something in between. To run your fingers over his perfect dark flesh, to excite him with touch. To see if he has a treasure trail of is completely smooth. To see how big his penis is and to feel it against your body as you are buried deep within him?” Helios mocked.
“I care not for the answers to any of those questions.” Eros replied disgusted, “It is only you that wishes to flirt with danger.”
Helios moved away and Eros allowed him to, “I want my sister back.” He replied darkly, “I warned her not to go and still she went into the ridiculous war and died by one of Yahweh’s children just making a nuisance of themselves. Hecate says that if this boy is the Redeemer, he will figure out how to bring back those that have died. To give us, our immortality back.”
“To retrieve your sister at the expense of your lover?” Eros questioned coldly.
Helios refused to turn about, “My sister was not meant to die. Because of her death the animal kingdom of the world was thrown to chaos as the predators turned on each other. We have managed to restore some semblance of balance with Gaia but she can only hold back the hunter instincts so long.”
“Fuck the world.” Eros remarked, “Fuck the world, fuck the mortals. Fuck the prophecy by the Dark One, fuck it all if it means loosing you to a Fallen.”
“Have you heard the latest news?” Helios asked but did not wait for a reply, “The Arkangels of Yahweh have turned against him and now are refugees within the Lower World. Yahweh’s powers are failing and if the Redeemer is the one to bring about the revitalization of humans as well as my sister, I’m sorry Eros. I cannot live in a world with no music, no art, no poetry. I cannot live in a world without my sister. If you force my hand and try to force me to choose between my sister and you…” Helios paused, forcing himself to say the words, “you will loose.”
Eros was gone in a show of power as winds whirled around Helios to have feathers caress his face lightly as they were mercilessly thrown in spirals by the small whirlwinds from Eros’s departure.
Helios sat atop the mound where Genesis had been standing, knowing he had given no indication of time that Genesis could be gone but knew he would return as quickly as he could.
“No Genesis! I will not let you go back. Stay with us.” Apocalypse begged of him.
“I’m sorry Apocalypse, but I gave my word. And Helios may be able to help me solve the problem of why we were once immortal but have become mortal like the humans that were taken.” Genesis replied, “Now open a portal or I will force you to.” He said darkly, “I care not to see our parents before my possible permanent departure.”
Apocalypse raised her hand and a portal opened that was a inverted mirror of Genesis’s own, “I hate you for leaving us, for leaving me to do the clean up.” She said darkly.
“It is your own fault for going to the Middle World, it is a miracle that we are both still alive.” He remarked and kissed his sister on the check and hugged her to have her start sobbing heavily in his arms, “I love you Apocalypse and if I can return, I will.” He vowed as her body was wracked from her sorrow. He let go and travelled through the portal to go back and face Helios and whatever Helios choose to do with him.
The portal closed and Apocalypse sand to her knees and cried for her loose, thinking that she would never again see her brother and her best friend.
“Apocalypse! Apocalypse! Damn it, quiet fucking around. You know mom and dad would skin both of us alive if they knew that you came up here.” Came a masculine voice from a male wrapped in tight clothing of the ninja. Genesis stepped through the portal and stopped his sister from running, “Dais, tell mother that I love her and that if I do not return, personal research notes are within my room. They are hidden within the text book on molecular separation. Tell father that I am sorry for not being strong enough to try to take on a Light One. But to save you, I freely gave myself. Now open a portal back to the Middle World.”“No Genesis! I will not let you go back. Stay with us.” Apocalypse begged of him.
