Chapter Two
The Day of Confusion
Daisuke blushed and brought Kagome even closer to him and picked her up bridal style so it would be easier for him to take her into the house and shut the door behind them fluidly in almost one whole motion. As he stood up, he found that she was lighter than he expected, and brought her closer to his body. Blushing at her closeness for a split second, he forced that down quickly and brought her into the house, shutting the door behind them. Dark chuckled in their mind. Afraid to be close to her Daisuke? Its like how you are when you actually get close to Riku…He then laughed madly at that. Daisuke stuttered and shook his head. ‘N-no…It’s not that….Its just that I haven’t seen her in so long…she’s changed a lot…’
He brought her up to his room and set her on his bed. He was actually glad for the moment that no one was here right now…His mother would be going crazy with worry, his grandpa would go a little insane…and he didn’t know what his father would do…he knew that he’d be the calmer of the three, but what exactly would he do when he saw Kagome? He pondered this silently and sat on the foot of the bed so it would be easier for him to watch her.
He stared at her pale form from his seat at the foot of the bed. She looked so weak lying there, her dark hair spread out on his white pillow. ‘I wonder what happened to cause her to look like this? She doesn’t look like her usual self at all…’ Dark stared through Daisuke’s eyes and all he could see was a beautiful, but pale, angel with dark hair. Daisuke sighed in confusion. ‘Kagome-chan…I want to help you…but I don’t know what happened to you…’
Dark was silent for a moment, then voiced his thoughts. How close to her were you exactly Daisuke? You seem so down…Daisuke’s eyes closed and he sighed. ‘We were the best of friends. Almost inseparable. The only time that we were was when Satoshi had shown up. This shocked Dark immensely. Satoshi was friends with her as well? Is that even possible? He’s too unfriendly to have a friend! Daisuke smiled wryly. ‘Kagome had her own way of worming into people’s hearts, warming them up a bit, or just making them feel special. That’s what happened with Satoshi. I’m not exactly sure if he remembers Kagome or not…’
Dark shrugged. Who cares? If he doesn’t remember her, then we can have her all to ourselves when she’s here. Plus I don’t want to deal with Krad right now anyway… Daisuke nodded in agreement. ‘That would be a problem…’ He looked down at Kagome as he felt her leg brush up against his arm. “Kagome-chan? Are you up?” He received a slight moan as an answer and saw her eyes flutter slightly.
“Mmmh? Huh?” She muttered softly as her eyes opened and she tried to sit up. Falling down into Daisuke’s arms and finding herself staring confusedly into his crimson orbs, she gasped audibly. “Daisuke-kun? Huh? Where?…ano…I thought I was…” She stopped her unceasing rambling as she heard him chuckle. They had noticed the position that they were in and they scrambled to sit up correctly. “You’re finally up Kagome-chan. I was getting really worried about you.”
Kagome, still with a small blush on her face, smiled softly at him. “I didn’t mean to worry you Daisuke-kun. I was just so tired…I haven’t had much sleep this past week.” This wasn’t a total lie, but it wasn’t the truth either. Haven’t had too much sleep in the past week? What’s she been up to? ‘Dark! Get your head out of the gutter! She’s not like that!‘ He blushed at Dark’s thoughts and he nodded absently. He grinned back at her. “So, why exactly are you here Kagome-chan? I mean, you haven’t exactly paid us a visit in a while…” Her head hung low for a minute. “Can’t I visit my best friend that I haven’t seen for like ages? Its been such a long time… Me moving really got us out of touch for some reason…”
He nodded. That had gotten them out of contact, and they had drifted apart a bit, but she was always in the back of his mind, he always wondered if she would come back and stay for a couple of months, if not maybe a year or two. “Yeah, that’s true…I think its really because we were so busy with our social lives and school…” Dark snickered. Social life? Heh, If she only knew your night life…She’d be totally surprised…the sweet Daisuke, a thief! He chuckled madly. But its really not you, Its me! ‘Shut up Dark! I don’t want her knowing about you! She’d probably slap you if you act like you normally do…You’re such a pervert. She really can’t stand them.’ Dark chuckled. I’ll tone it down a bit when I’m finally introduced to her then. I don’t want her to be angry with me…when she meets me.
Daisuke shook his head. ‘She’ll be able to tell that you’re a pervert still…I’m trying to save you here…You’re going to have to act like your complete opposite or tone your personality down a LOT.’ Dark’s grin grew even larger now. That’ll never happen. She’ll meet me with me at my best. I’ve never done that and I’m not going to start now…
Kagome shook Daisuke’s shoulder slightly. “Daisuke-kun? Are you alright? You’re spacing out on me.” He snapped out of his conversation with Dark and his attention focused back on Kagome. “I’m ok Kagome-chan…just thinking about some things…” the look that she gave him made him think twice. She really didn’t believe him, but he had no reason to lie to her, did he? He laughed a bit nervously as he heard the door slam and heard his mother’s exuberant voice through the house. “Mother’s home…I wonder how she’ll react when she sees you here Kagome-chan?”
His question was answered when Emiko knocked on his door and came in with a grin. “Daisuke honey, I have the perfect outfit four you when your going out tonight to steal the Sacred Jeweled Crown of Akerenu!” She had hearts in her eyes as she held the black zippered outfit to her chest. Kagome looked at Daisuke with a raised eyebrow. ”Stealing? What exactly have you been up to Daisuke-kun?” He sweat dropped and looked at her with a small grin. “I’m not a thief, just forget about what she said Kagome-chan.“ She chuckled internally. ‘I’ll let it drop, for now Daisuke-kun.‘ She chuckled at the thought of Daisuke being a thief. “Okay, okay Daisuke-kun, you’re not a thief.” Emiko looked at Kagome with a smile. “Kagome! You’re back! I haven’t seen you in ages! Is something the matter? When did you actually arrive here?” Kagome smiled. “It wasn’t too long ago Emiko-san. Nothings wrong, really. I haven’t had a lot of sleep that’s all.”
Emiko’s eyes widened. “Well then you should get some sleep young lady! You know that it is good for your health and you need a certain number of hours to function, or have you forgotten that?” Kagome shook her head. “I haven’t forgotten. Its just that I’ve had something happen to me that I’ve had a lot of thinking to do about…”
“You poor dear…I can tell that it something that you might need to talk about so if you do, we’re here ok? You two I’ll be in the kitchen if you need me ok?” Kagome smiled gratefully at Emiko and nodded. “Thank you Emiko-san.” Emiko popped her head around the doorway. “Emiko is fine Kagome dear.” Her figure disappeared and Daisuke let out a breath that he was holding. Kagome looked at him with confusion. “What’s the matter Daisuke-kun?” He grinned sheepishly and rubbed the back of his head. “It’s nothing…Don’t worry about it.” She dropped the subject and leaned back against the wall. “Hey, Daisuke-kun, how much have things changed since I’ve been gone?”
Dark rubbed his hands in glee. Now it’s time to find out what she really wants to know about the Hiwitari boy. Daisuke scowled at Dark internally. ‘He’s called Satoshi and you know that Dark! You just call him that to annoy him…’ Dark nodded and chuckled evilly. Of course I do! It gets under his skin wonderfully when I actually do it…
“A lot has changed Kagome-chan, but a lot is still the same with the bunch of friends that we always used to hang around with. Takeshi is definitely the same…He’s his normal energetic self…Riku and Risa still fight like always…We’re getting along better than the last time you were here too.” Kagome smiled. “That’s good Daisuke-kun. They always seemed to either ignore you or completely or they went at each other’s throats.” He nodded in agreement as he remembered how Riku and Risa used to act. Instead of Risa always being a girly-girl, she was a total tomboy like Riku and they always fought. It got annoying after a while and he always went to talk to Kagome and Takeshi when they were like this.
His head snapped towards the door again as he heard the door slam, signaling that another person was home. He heard his mother’s happy voice and he knew that his father was back. “Kosuke dear, Kagome’s here!” she happily said. He then heard his father’s voice closer to his door. “Kagome’s here? When did she come to visit us?” Emiko chuckled. “Just earlier this afternoon dear. She’s tired though, If you want to see her, you must do it now. I’m going to let her get some rest.”
Daisuke and Kagome looked up to see Kosuke’s and Emiko’s figure’s in the doorway. “Is it alright if we come in Daisuke, Kagome?” they both nodded and Kagome gave Kosuke a small smile. “Its been a while. It’s nice to see you again Kosuke-san.” He nodded and gave her a small smile in return. “I hope that all is well Kagome-chan?” She nodded. “Hai, I’m fine. I’ve missed you guys a lot…so I decided to drop by for a visit!” she said brightly, hoping to disguise her real reason for being there. Daisuke caught her sudden change in emotions as well as Dark. What is she hiding? Or is she covering up something that she doesn’t want us to know?
Emiko sat down on the bed and placed her hands on top of hers. “You can stay as long as you like Kagome. We love having you here and it wouldn’t mind us at all for you to stay.” she smiled gratefully at her. She didn’t want to face her family right now, knowing that Souta would be asking about Inuyasha, and she couldn’t deal with that right now. “Arigato Emiko. I really appreciate it.”
“Kagome-chan, would you like to go outside?” Daisuke glanced at her to see if she looked as exhausted as she did when she had first shown up at his door, but she just looked a little fatigued. She looked at him and smiled. “That sounds good Daisuke-kun.” Emiko sighed. “Daisuke sweety, make sure that Kagome doesn’t overexert herself!“ He nodded as he looked at his mother. “I will okaasan.“ Daisuke got up and gently held his arm out for her to grab on to. She grabbed his arm and got to her feet unsteadily, and as he lead her to the door, she stumbled and fell against his side. “G-gomen…I guess that I’m a little unsteady on my feet with all that’s happened…” She blushed as she looked up at him. She looks pretty like that. We should make her blush more often. Daisuke smiled a bit with Dark’s influence and replied, “It’s no problem. Come on, Its really pretty this time of year.” He was even more careful with his steps, making sure that Kagome wouldn’t fall.
Kagome glanced around for a minute, then she took a real look around. “You were right Daisuke-kun. It is really pretty right now.” The sakura blossoms were in full bloom right now and It looked like it was snowing pink snow with the wind blowing ever so lightly. He guided Kagome onto a bench and they both sat down in relief. Even though it wasn’t a long walk, it was a tiring walk for Kagome and she just wanted to sit down right now. Aimlessly staring at the people that were passing by her, she found that her attention was caught by a blue haired boy with glasses. “I’ve seen you before but where? I know you…” She said softly. Very confused, she leaned against Daisuke unintentionally. His attention was brought back to her. Dark was throwing random barbs at him and he was thankful for the distraction.
“Kagome-chan? What’s the matter?” She looked up at the red headed boy. “I’m so confused Daisuke-kun. I just saw a boy with blue hair and glasses, and I can’t get this feeling that I’m missing something. That I know him from somewhere. That I’ve met him.” He didn’t know what to say. She had seen Satoshi just a little while ago? But what really shocked him was that she actually forgotten him? I was surprised that she didn’t mention him, but I guess that this is why. I wonder…Did she block Satoshi out of her memories because of a bad experience with him? Or maybe it could have been that she found out his secret…He chuckled a bit at the thought of that and got himself back under control. ‘I don’t know Dark. We’ll have to help her to find out. She wouldn’t block out a memory because of that!’ She would if Krad was just being a total psychopath like usual, and trying to kill her before Satoshi got him under control… Daisuke sighed. ‘I can’t argue with you can’t I?’ Dark chuckled. No you can‘t.
He brought Kagome into a friendly hug and said softly, “I’ll help you find what you forgot Kagome-chan. I won’t let you do this alone.” Kagome nodded and hugged him tightly back. “Thank you…” Her voice was full of emotion and as they parted, her eyes fluttered and a pink glow surrounded her. “Kagome!? Kagome!? What’s Happening!!??”
Both Dark and himself couldn’t see a thing. The light was so prominent around Kagome that it looked almost like a star. He tried to grab Kagome’s hands but with the swell of Kagome’s miko powers, that was becoming extremely frustrating and difficult in the same time. He had somehow managed to grasp her hands through the huge bundle of power that was surrounding her and pulled her closer to him. “Kagome? What was that?” Yeah, what exactly was that pink light that wrapped around your pretty little body?
Kagome looked refreshed as she stared up at him. “I’m not sure…Nothing like that has happened before…” He looked to her with worry. “Are you alright? Should I bring you back?” She shook her head. “Iie Daisuke-kun. I want to stay outside longer…” She smiled a bit because he was being so nice to her, worrying about her health, if she was alright and all…
He nodded and as he heard a group of girls’ incessant chattering, he cringed as he caught a few lines of what they were saying.

“Why can’t he come and live next door to my house?”

I wonder…Did she block Satoshi out of her memories because of a bad experience with him? Or maybe it could have been that she found out his secret…He chuckled a bit at the thought of that and got himself back under control. ‘I don’t know Dark. We’ll have to help her to find out. She wouldn’t block out a memory because of that!’ She would if Krad was just being a total psychopath like usual, and trying to kill her before Satoshi got him under control… Daisuke sighed. ‘I can’t argue with you can’t I?’ Dark chuckled. No you can‘t.
He brought Kagome into a friendly hug and said softly, “I’ll help you find what you forgot Kagome-chan. I won’t let you do this alone.” Kagome nodded and hugged him tightly back. “Thank you…” Her voice was full of emotion and as they parted, her eyes fluttered and a pink glow surrounded her. “Kagome!? Kagome!? What’s Happening!!??”
Both Dark and himself couldn’t see a thing. The light was so prominent around Kagome that it looked almost like a star. He tried to grab Kagome’s hands but with the swell of Kagome’s miko powers, that was becoming extremely frustrating and difficult in the same time. He had somehow managed to grasp her hands through the huge bundle of power that was surrounding her and pulled her closer to him. “Kagome? What was that?” Yeah, what exactly was that pink light that wrapped around your pretty little body?
Kagome looked refreshed as she stared up at him. “I’m not sure…Nothing like that has happened before…” He looked to her with worry. “Are you alright? Should I bring you back?” She shook her head. “Iie Daisuke-kun. I want to stay outside longer…” She smiled a bit because he was being so nice to her, worrying about her health, if she was alright and all…
He nodded and as he heard a group of girls’ incessant chattering, he cringed as he caught a few lines of what they were saying.
“Dark is sooo hot!”
“I wish he was my boyfriend!”
“Why can’t he come and live next door to my house?”
