Case One
Accusations of Allies Murder
“Come on people we have a murder on our hands that needs to be taken care of.” Ali called, as she strapped up her guns and dagger.
“What kind of murder?” Ki, the pink haired girl asked, her outfit colorful and small at the same time. Ali could not take her eyes off how revealing the outfit was until Glade sent her a telepathic notice of her actions.
“Buddhist temple has been ransacked; they are our only allies in this war. We need to keep them that way.” Ali informed the somewhat scared group she had. “There is no need to worry, I have done this thing before, so stop having those faces of `I'm going to die.' looks wiped clean away...or you will get killed.”
“Pathetic aren't they master.” Glade snickered as he joined her at her side and walked out to the car awaiting them. She nodded but said nothing more as she came upon the scene before her. The temple was in ruin, there was a mess of gold and crushed statues out in the front yard. Carefully she stepped under the yellow crime scene tape, looking for one of the elder monks around.
He stood not far from the scene and his aged and wrinkled face held such wisdom that you just couldn't help but stare. Ali walked with respect up to him and bowed their greetings before she began asking about the happenings here.
“What happened? A monster that was sent after you all, because they don't like you all not going after the pagans and trying to rid the earth of us?” Ali loved using sarcasm, even in front of this important figure. He only nodded and looked deep into Ali's silvery eyes, before turning to face the moon.
“You have been accused of this, pagan.” He spoke turning back with a somewhat confused look on his face.
“What do you mean I'm to blame?” She questioned, annoyed that she was being told that the death of his fellow monks was her fault.
“The pentagram is painted in their blood all over the walls of the crumbled temple. I can not hope to Buddha that the ones who find this disgraceful will not show restraint. I believe in you sweet Ali but this coming of a different era is going to be the toughest yet.” He spoke with his ragged old voice but she looked away, back to Glade who stood ready for a command.
“I will be ready, oh wise one.” She bowed and returned to her fighters behind her. “Ok, the point is to catch the sorry ass that has pinned this murder on us and blast him to hell.” She informed, pulling out her guns and clicking them into place.
“Is it inside?” Ki asked Glade as his eyes watched over the area before them and deep into the walls of the temple.
“Someone has covered up the smell but whatever it is, is still in there.” He ignored Ki and turned to inform Ali, who was just grinning from ear to ear. She pulled out the velvet bag and secured it to her belt. Stepping over the rubble she advanced on the creature inside, the smell of blood strong as the walls of the crumbled temple became visible with the moonlight. Ali felt the wall with her free hand, sliding it through the blood and brought her red fingers under her nose.
“This thing is a Hindu beast. I can smell the herbs and ground in these monks bloods from its claws.” She wiped the blood against her pant leg and brought out her pentagram, kicking down one of the doors.
“Shit!” Ki called from behind as her eyes fell on the ugly creatures that crawled around, their orange skin was bulging in unusual spots. It had one single eye and large talon hands and feet that were stained a dark red with blood. She slipped in quietly, keeping her eyes focused on the things in front when a crash came from behind her and the Sage lay on the ground with a scared look. Ali cursed to herself and jumped in front of Sage as one of the things came at them, its claws and ugly fangs bared. She shots off three rounds at the monster, it screeched in agony as it stumbled back but charged again. The green blood oozed from the gunshot wounds and splattered all over the floor as Ali landed a hard punch in its stomach. She shouted at Glade to get the others out of the charge way, as she tried to hold back the thing, the green blood like acid against her skin. She felt its hot breath on her face as it fought back, swinging left and right at her. She flipped out of the way, trying to evade the other two creatures that come. One went to clip her shoulder, when a gun shot went off and the arm fell away from the body a few feet away.
“These people may not be able to handle it but I sure can!” Ki held tightly to a smoking gun, her eyes pinning a monster in front of her with a death glare. She clicked it into place as the wounded Hindu beast flew at her in a fury. Ali turned back to the two in front of her, preparing the pentagram she whipped out a small black stone and threw it in the air in front of her.
“Raven!” She shouted, a white light shooting from the pentagram and going through the stone, to reveal a black raven flying inside the light. It flew through one of the creatures, disintegrating it in an instant. She turned to the next one and turned the raven to take out the other one, but it faded as soon as it hit the creature in the back. “It's covered in a special protection herb, Glade I need you to find where the herb s hidden.” She commanded stepping back and fighting back the other wounded creature from the group.
“Let them die master, they aren't worth keeping around!” Glade snarled, looking at the people cowering behind her as she put her life on the line. She shook her head, as she pulled Ki up and began to shot bullets again and again.
“You know Glade is right, why aren't you letting the weak die?” Ki asked, smirking at the wide eyed look from the people behind them. Ali turned for an instance at Ki and burned a deep glared that answered the question into her mind. The people behind her saw the look, and pulled out their guns, some ducked down and others stood as they launched an attack on the oncoming beast.
“Go help the vampire!” One of the shooters told as they clicked their gun and filled it with more bullets. Ali didn't acknowledge the advice as she took off, rolling under the gun shots in the direction where Glade was. He had hit the beast a few times, the gapping wounds bleeding heavily, but it still seemed able to move without any tactic.
“Found the spot yet?” She asked jumping in and landing a hard kick to the creatures head, throwing it into the nearest wall. Glade surprised that she wasn't helping the others, was silent at first. “Hello? Did you hear me?”
“No, but it seems to be somewhere in the front of the beast.” He informed, taking a fighting stance as the beast rose from the rubble. Ali stood still for a second as she focused on sending a white light around the creature. Holding still, the pentagram wavered as it began to point at a certain direction on the body. She opened her eyes and saw it pointing at the under arm on the left.
“Under the left arm Glade! Hit it there!” She yelled, flipping over the beast and turning with her dagger at he left arm. Glade grabbed it, and dug in with his sharp nails to hold it still. The creature swiped at him crazily, trying to rip him off its arm. Ali ran at it with the dagger, the silver blade into the orange skin. It ripped it to pieces as the herbs fell from the hole she made and the monster screeched in agony, toppling to the floor. The odor of death hung in the air, as Ali wiped the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand. She watched the others walk forward, some carrying those that were hit while firing, and others just beat from the intensity of the battle itself. She smirked; maybe these people weren't all that bad, maybe.
“Looks like we have this case solved.” Glade told Ali, she swung her head away from the group and looked up with a smile at him.
“Nope. We are still being blamed, but hopefully they will figure it out that it wasn't us.” Ali answered, still smiling as she held onto Glade's arm and walked back to the car. He didn't shake her off, but he did watch the woman next to him, and he did notice a pang of jealously coming from someone. The car ride back was quiet, the feeling as if they had just left a funeral rested above the group. In turn they were drinking what alcohol there was and trying to be happy. Ali on the other hand, didn't like the feeling she was getting from the outside, the feeling as if someone was following them. She stared out the window, whipping around to try and find exactly what it was she felt.
“You feel it don't you.” Glade inquired, sitting behind Ali, his gaze following the buildings flashing by. A large energy came from one of them and hit the car on with a hard impact. Sending it flying into the nearest building, it bent in many different places. Every one was flung in many different places, but Ali was holding tightly to Glade under his cape. The impact was over, and the glass of the windows was shattered as she pulled away from Glade and slid out one of the broken windows to face the new danger.
People that had just fought along side her, laid on the street, some were groaning in pain and others were not moving at all. She spotted Sage not far from the car, and Ki inside crawling out the same way. She had a scratch across her cheek and left arm but nothing serious.
“Are you okay?” Ali asked putting out a hand to help her up, but she shrugged it off as she struggled up.
“No, but what about the others?” Ki asked surveying what had just happened.
“Take care of them. I am going to deal with this problem on my own.” Ali informed Ki, who was about to protest.
“They need your help, more than we do.” Glade commanded, pointing at the bodies in the car and on the ground. “Tend to them and we will be back to help, after we deal with the scum.” His gray eyes were flickering red, his canines growing as he ran to catch up to Ali.
“It's the monks. I know it.” Ali stopped near a building, feeling the energy of the people coming.
“Yes, they must be very angry with us. At least we can have a little fun, hmmm?” He snickered, his devilish smirk on his face as the people entered the main street.
“Lord we have hit the target, many of them seem unconscious. We were unable to find the one you are looking for though.” A monk spoke, to one who was walking with his hat pulled over his face. The leader only nodded as he turned to look down the alley and then back down the main road. Ali watched carefully as she leapt to the top and jumped from roof to roof, listening to the conversation.
“She will pay for killing our brethren.” The leader spoke, his staff clicking against the concrete. The others nodded in answer as they walked closer to the accident.
“We should surprise them master.” Glade asked as he stepped near the edge and held out his hand.
“Yes I think we should.” She took his hand tightly and felt the air rush through her hair as they hit the road in front of the monks.
“Ah I guess we do not need to look for you.” The leader spoke, tipping his hat up, so they could see his face.
“I have come to talk, not fight.” Ali proclaimed her face stiff with importance, the monk only laughed.
“You killed our brothers, your allies and you just want to talk?!” He answered, his laugh ringing against the buildings. Glade growled his protest next to her as the monk proceeded forward.
“Hurt her and I will-“ Ali squeezed his hand secretly, giving him a small eye contact look.
“I went to the site, and the things that killed the monks was a Hindu class C monsters and one B class. It was to pin it on us and break our alliance.” She walked forward with confidence as the monk moved even closer.
“So you say, what proof do you have? There is on your pants some human blood.” He inquired, pointing to the red spot on her black pants.
“Ignore that, my dagger.” She pulled out the blade, which was crusted with the green ooze. “Has the blood of a Hindu monster on it. Now can you say I lie?” She asked sternly, her voice showing annoyance. The monk held the dagger and nodded, as Glade took off from the spot he stood at. Both turned to see Glade grabbed a small man around the throat, his eyes filled with fear. Glade came back down and shoved the man in front of the two leaders.
“He was spying.” Glade glared at the man, the man was decorated in gold which showed greed to him.
“Who do you work for?!” Ali demanded, grabbing him by the collar and holding him at eye level. He gulped and tried to stutter something out but looked away at Glade who was glaring as well. “Now tell me! Who do you work for?!” She tightened the grip on the collar and brought her pentagram out to make the threat more appealing.
“Hindu…” He stuttered. His hand shot into one of his pockets and brought out a vile. “And now I tell no more!” He swallowed the liquid before it could be ripped from his hand and collapsed in her hand.
“Dammit!” She cursed, tossing him to the ground and sheathing her dagger roughly. She looked up straight into the monk's eyes and whispered back, “Hope were back on a good level again.” And walked away with a swift turn of her elegant body, back to the wounded people back at the wrecked car, where Ki probably was having a time.
“Goddess.” The monk called before she turned the corner. Ali turned to see one of the lower monks race after her, holding a bundle.
“Master Gunki has asked for me to help you with the wounded.” He explained unwrapping the herbs and medicine in the bundle.
“Don't use the medicine but the herbs are ok.” Ali raced back without another word, where an exhausted Ki laid against a building, sweat dripping from her face. There were still bodies lying on the ground but many were supported by something soft. Ali knelt next to the first person and began whispering a healing prayer, she placed Bay leaves over the wounds and wrapped them. Many were just holding scratches but others had worst wounds that took a lot of energy out of Ali.
“Ki cone here, I need you take over. My energy is dwindling away, just whisper the healing prayer and place a Bay leaf against all the wounds.” Ki nodded as Glade helped her move people to the side and fixing everyone else. Ali took her time sitting down as she phoned the organization for a new car and medics.
The car came and so did medics, along with the president, to rag on Ali about how careless she was. She just stood there and took the stupid crap he kept throwing at her, and collapsed into Glade to rest. Resting against his chest she fell into a deep sleep, one she knew meant a vision, as Glade wrapped her under his cape.
“Glade!” A female voice yelled to him as he walked away with Ali. He turned feeling Ali stir from the noise, to see Ki running for him, she had a small smile on her face.
“Wow, that fight back there was pretty gruesome.” Glade looked at the pink haired girl and back down to the figure in his arms. “Don't talk much, do you?” She asked trying to get him to say something, anything in response.
“I have a very tired witch in my arms, who will probably be called to perform something later. I have no time for chit chat such as this, I need to get her back to rest.” He brushed past in a quick sprint, leaving an insulted and jealous Ki.
“Stupid vampire.” She mumbled turning away and walking to join the group back at the car. The vice president watched this conversation from afar, a grin on his face suggesting plot as he slid into the car.
