InuYasha Fan Fiction / Fan Fiction ❯ Braving Mystical Worlds ❯ Chapter 4: Havoc ( Chapter 4 )
Disclaimer: I can try to claim the concept and creation of the Xmen or Inuyasha - but then, I'd be knee deep in doggie-do or flung to another dimension, so just to clarify, NO!!! They aren't mine, but give it a year or two. Or not.

Braving Mystical Worlds: Chapter 4: Havoc
-Jasmine Fields
*****
Jazz: Aurora! Hey Storm!
Aurora: Yes?
Jazz: How's Sesshou doing?
Aurora: Well, we do have one sick puppy on our hands.
Jazz: I told Jean and Scot not to buy him that chocolate ice cream.
Aurora: It wasn't from the chocolate ice cream.
Jazz: (scratches head puzzled) Oh, really? What then?
Aurora: Seems you promised that he'd be in last chapter.
Jazz: Oh that! What I meant, in chapter three, was that he'd be in this chapter, which is, of course, the chapter following the one I mentioned it in!
Aurora: Well, there's another reason too.
Jazz: ….
Aurora: You have neglected to send your reviewers some thanks. (hands her a printout)
Jazz: (briefly reads paper) Ooops, sure did. Guess I should do that, eh?
Aurora: Right on. Sesshou's got some big fans and you disappointed them. Go apologize.
Jazz: Now?
Aurora: (glares at her)
Jazz: Okay - okay! (hangs head in near shame) For being so patient with me for what - four chapters now (?) - lilmizflashythang, Kellen, and inuyasha-delirium have exclusive jeering rights for the next two chapters - or so. If the chapters don't come out right -
Kagome: (interrupting) Hey, hey, hey! You can't just do what I think you're about to do! That just wouldn't be right!
Jazz: (bites down on tongue hard, continuing) If the chapters don't come out right, it's because Sesshou took off my hand during typing - or Aurora blew away my notes.
Aurora: (rolling eyes heavenward) What about Kagura? Why couldn't it be her that does it?
Kagome: `Cuz Kagura's in the back room writing letters of thanks to DogEars22 and Anoresne.
Aurora: I didn't know she was in to that kind of thing.
Jazz: That woman has many hidden talents, dearest. I had to put her on staff - ehrm - 2 days ago, to answer fluff questions - and stuff. I was busy laughing so hard from some of the reviewers' quirks that I fell off my chair and ended up begging Rogue for help off my arse/ass/butt - what ever it's called these days.
Kagome: I'm telling you that this is the kind of tragedy that awaits the last of the smart blondes.
Jazz: (nods head agreeing) Without a doubt. (Pauses) Hey!
Kagome: Don't take it to heart! Come to think of it -
Aurora: Kags - be nice. Jazz - you have to give credit where it's due this chapter.
Jazz: I was getting to that.
Kagome: Yep, AngelMiko69 sure gave you some kick-butt ideas for this chapter.
Jazz: True that…
Aurora: One more thing, Jazz.
Jazz: Huh?
Aurora: It's Christmas Day…you practically promised.
Jazz: That I did. (looking thoughtful) Well, Merry Christmas all - Happy Hannakah - Happy Kwaanza…what ever holiday you celebrate, peace and blessings to you. Oh yeh, and Happy New Year! (throws confetti in the air)

~Japan-Modern Era~
He leapt through the Bone-Eater's well, red clad, Tesseiga missing, impatience clouding his judgment and impairing his thoughts, driving his legs to pick up speed through the shrine's courtyard.
Hoping that Kagome would have at least a partial solution to the problematic chaos that ensued on the other side, he recognized early on that there might be some fault that caused the well to break. There were many possibilities, all of which were proving difficult to analyze and make sense of.
Perhaps they had shards of the Shikon Jewel? It was impossible to know for certain with out Kagome sensing them. Besides, how would the jewel pieces fall into their hands anyway - even with the passage of time to account for?
It made the most sense, though twisted, since the well didn't seem to work with out the cursed shards - even though his connection to Kagome seemed to be an exception - or the means to transport between her world and his in any case.
He had lamely attempted to convince the petite human girl, he reminded him self, named Kitty - or was it Shadowcat? - to jump and see if the well worked for her and her male companion, but she politely claimed exhaustion and wouldn't make any attempts to return to Kagome's Tokyo with out her odd mix of friends.
There was nothing said for arguing with the girl, since her seeming protector growled at him and the earth shook at that instant. He wondered at that.
Kouga zealously offered his assistance to protect the girl with some reluctance at allowing him to go find Kagome while the girl's companion profusely fumed at the affection the wolf demon bestowed on her. He laid it on a little thick, if you asked him, but the girl seemed to genuinely enjoy the flirting and strange caresses too much to care. That and it was better than certain Kouga could hold his own against a young human male.
In the end, a decision had been reached as he had promised to return by nightfall tomorrow if there was some thing that could be done to improve the condition.
Ever since they showed their faces, the temptation to stay in Kagome's era was starting to appeal more permanently to him.
Feeling a headache coming on, he peered into Kagome's unlocked cracked window, letting him self breathe in her scent, he stepped foot into her house and sat on the floor by her bed waiting for her to return, furious that a stranger had single handedly disoriented him and taken his sword right from underneath his nose.
Add that he couldn't track the blue transporting creature - and it was a perfect recipe for a peeved hanyou to inflict serious wrath on any one who dared get on his nerves right now.
Shippo's pranks were one thing - a complete stranger who vanished into thin air taking said joker with him, was an entirely different issue altogether.
Pausing, Inuyasha would have willingly followed the scent of food wafting from the kitchen but smelled several strangers' scents lingering outside leading to the house.
Even as amazing as it was that nobody detected him, there was no way he wanted to experience another sitting spell if Kagome discovered his presence before he justified his purpose to explain the newest curiosities that had over taken Feudal Japan. He swore to stay silent and still until Kagome came back up stairs.
Head leaning back, his ears pricked at the downstairs conversation.
"So this is your home?" Aurora asked, "It's quite lovely. Thank you for having us here."
"Our pleasure."
Bowing in politeness, Ms Higurashi excused her self to set the table for the arrived guests.
"Kagome! Souta! Please come see our guests!"
"Coming Mama!"
As their hostess Ms Higurashi turned away to set out the miso soup, entrée, and chopsticks for her guests and motioned for her son and daughter to sit near her.
"Are you comfortable?"
"Oh, yes, just fine. Your hospitality has been most gracious." Aurora spoke up.
"Anything that you need just let one of us know."
"You'd think the brats would return for dinner - especially the fur ball with his appetite." Logan dryly commented.
"I'm sure they're just fine. Perhaps they took the subway and found them selves lost some where. Enjoy your meal."

-Japan-Sengoku Jidai-
She hadn't intended to get lost.
"Damn, damn, damn!"
Rogue nearly screamed aloud her increased agitation and frustration to an unmerciful forest gradually taking on dancing shadows that mocked her while the dimming light from the moon barely peaked over the trees and teased her senses as the sun dipped below the horizon in its final moments.
There definitely was no sign of city lights. And it hadn't mattered that the sunset was breathtaking and beautiful.
She was alone.
Mentally berating her self for not marking a trail or bringing a flashlight, she stopped and spun slowly in a circle to catch a glimpse of her surroundings.
It was dark and the night air chilled her skin as her eyes explored the forest for a house or place that appeared comfortable and warm. All she cared for was searching for some thing familiar - some sort of salvation.
Hell, she'd take a flowing river to quench her thirst right about now at a bare minimum.
Her stomach rumbled.
"Damnit."
She was hungry.
Sticking her newly acquired sword into the ground, she used it as a sort of walking stick in front of her in case there were deep holes that she couldn't see and continued stumbling, unaccustomed to having no light - however faint - to guide her.
Kurt was going to die a cruel horrible death when she saw him again - the fates be cursed and all!
There were no certain terms of pleading, agreement, or begging for mercy that she would allow him to live after abandoning her in such a fashion.
When she came out of the forest and returned to the clearing with those annoying fanged mutant creatures were shoving insults down each others' throats, she would give them a piece of her mind - after she gave the blade back to its rightful owner.
Lost in her own menacing thoughts she heard a sudden crunch of leaves to her left flank.
Stopping abruptly, she squatted gathering a few stones.
"Hello?"
Only symphonies of crickets were chirping.
No birds sang, though she reasoned that was normal when darkness fell. No humming mosquitoes or other pestering insects. It was some what a disconcerting experience
Curiosity propelling her body forward as her instincts scalded her for such idiocy she chucked a small stone in the direction of her inquisition.
Calling again, she thought she heard a sneeze for a response.
"Hello-o? Anyone out there?"
Realizing that her attempt was vain, since she spoke in English, she tried again, easing into Japanese.
And the possibility that she might call her self a target was not without some validation when she heard more clearly defined rustling ahead in some bushes.
A shiver - though whether from the cold or from her undetermined trickling fear, she did not know - ran down her spine as she simultaneously dropped the stones in her hand and clutched the sword in a death grip.
Approaching cautiously, she pulled her left glove from her hand and pocketed it.
Gulping down her fear, she sucked in her breath readying the sword should an attacker impose on her.
"Come out and face me you coward!"
A young feminine terrified high pitched shriek filled the night sky as she stepped on a large twig breaking it in half as she neared the top of the lowly planted bush.
"Sesshoumaru-sama!!! Sesshoumaru-sama!!!"
Cold chills set her skin blazing with fear as she stuck out her hand directly in front of her when the small female child ran from her.
Deep shockwaves of foreboding spilled into her as she braced her self for trouble. She was starting to regret her bold words as a tall white figured equipped heavily in armor and weapons walked in front of her view.
Carefully taking a step backwards, she swung the sword in front of her.
"Don't come near me! This weapon - Ah'm not afraid to use it!"
She cursed her luck swearing that he smirked.
"Woman, tell me how you managed to disarm Tesseiga from Inuyasha and I shall, for all practical purposes, let you live."
"Don't come near me! It'll be fortunate enough if you survive! As a matter of fact…Ah dare you to touch me."
"Do you really think a mortal human such as your self is capable of doing such damage to a demon of such powerful lineage? Can you even hope to compare? "
"Well, Inuyasha seemed to think Ah was - a bit powerful. Ah got the feeling he didn't like when I utilized the damn thang. Can't say that Ah enjoyed being on the receiving end of his rather potent mind. "
Her head was still swimming with stray thoughts and feeling scanned from his mind copied to hers. Most of his memories were any thing but pleasant, but still held informative means. She was piecing them together painstakingly.
"Really now?"
She could see a bit better now and saw that he had not reached for one of his swords. He looked like an odd creature to her - much like the acclaimed Kouga. This creature, however, looked lethal as though he could deliver any promise of death in a single blow.
Images of being bullied and fighting him…no lost love there, it seemed, but she was speculating and calculating the demon - or what ever he was - and his actions.
Is he friend or foe to this Inuyasha person?
She wouldn't risk provoking him, since she sincerely couldn't interpret the thoughts jumbled in her head. Not knowing how to avoid it, instead, she asked her own question.
"Who are you?"
He chuckled at her nervousness, she was certain he could practically taste her fear by the way he stared at her.
Apparently not an appropriate question…
"How is it that a human, such as your self could wield Tesseiga?"
"Wouldn't you like to know."
Ooops. Wrong answer.
She cringed frightfully, falling as she attempted to reverse her steps and tripped facing him not recognizing the type of attack he used when lunging at her with fully extended claws.
