Chapter 3: On Our Side

"Damn that Kikyo, I knew I couldn't trust her." Sesshomaru replied near death.

"Kikyo already has great power, and that jewel fragment increases it even more! I fear for our lives my lord." Jaken replied fearfully.

"Rin, wake up, we have work to do." Sesshomaru ordered.

"Yes, my lord."

"If I may ask what work do we have to do?" Jaken asked.

"We must side with Inuyasha, to rid of Kikyo yet again, wretched as he may be."

"Your younger brother, why must we side with him?"

"You fool! You've seen Inuyasha with such great power; we'll need to combine our sword forces to retrieve the jewel fragment."

"Oh, but of course my lord, forgive my ignorance."

"Damn that Sesshomaru, attempting to steal the jewel fragment and then reviving Kikyo! If I didn't know better than I would think he was being possessed by Naraku!" yelled Inuyasha angrily.

"Inuyasha calm down, our first priority is to confront Sesshomaru about this." Sango explained calmly.

"Yeah, Inuyasha, now isn't the time to lose your temper." Kagome agreed.

"Who says I'm losing my temper!" Inuyasha yelled.

"Ok, ok your not losing your temper, now let's go and confront Sesshomaru." Kagome replied.

As they prepared to journey to the Western lands, Sesshomaru, Jaken, and Rin appeared. They seemed their appearance was to rid of Inuyasha, but they sought help and explained their current situation to Inuyasha, Kagome, Sango, and Shippo who refused to believe him at first. Sesshomaru also came out with one other secret.

"Kikyo had told me about a sacred energy blast coming from you Kagome, is that true?" Sesshomaru asked.

"Yes, it is, I figured it must've been my subconscious." Kagome replied.

"It appears to be a form of magic."

"Magic, but I'm just the reincarnation of a priestess, all I have is sacred holy power, and magic isn't possible."

"Hard to hear, but yes, right now I suggest you ask one of your relatives about this."

"I guess I will, I have to find the truth."

"Sesshomaru how do we know that you're not lying to us about Kikyo and Kagome?" Inuyasha asked angrily.

"Kikyo stole the jewel fragment from you did she not?"

"Well, yeah she did."

As Inuyasha and Sesshomaru were arguing, Kikyo now in a more powerful form lowered herself on the soft dirt and grass in front of everybody.

"Kikyo, what are you doing here?" Sesshomaru asked with great anger.

"Silence, I don't have to answer that question."

"Give me the Tenseiga, Sesshomaru."

"Why should I give you the sword that rightfully belongs to me?"

"Then I'll take it by force!"

Kikyo ordered several of her soul collectors to retrieve the Tenseiga from Sesshomaru. Kikyo formed energy barriers around everyone similarly to the way that Kagome did with Sango and Inuyasha. Sesshomaru still weak from the energy blast earlier, froze from a lack of power, which made it easy for Kikyo to get the Tenseiga.

"Now Sesshomaru, suffer with your life!"

Kikyo released a stronger light power and had forcefully pushed Sesshomaru back into the heap of rubble in the nearby village rendering him unconscious and very badly injured.

"I have got what I have come for; and I will deal with you later Inuyasha!" Kikyo replied angrily.

Kikyo left for her lair with such anger that nobody could believe that it was actually Kikyo that had injured Sesshomaru.

"So Sesshomaru was telling the truth, he does want to join forces with us" Kagome replied.

"Yeah, I guess you're right, but I can't remove my feelings about him. He's such a bastard, and I mean come on he nearly killed you!" exclaimed Inuyasha.

Kagome rushes over to Sesshonmaru's aid and uses the last of the medicine to cure him, but just barely. She knew Sesshomaru would be a valuable asset to retrieve the Tenseiga and the jewel fragment from Kikyo, and she needed to heal him, but before she picked up her backpack to get some more medicine from her home, a green light engulfed Sesshomaru and by the time it was gone, he seemed to have regained his health fully.

"That seemed to have been another form of magic, now go back to your home and find out what you need to know." Sesshomaru replied gratefully.

Kagome jumped out of the well and walked out of the shrine, sliding the wooden door closed behind her. The breeze made her slightly uncomfortable blowing her long black hair in her face. She walked on the dirt ground road and stopped to gaze at the tall tree where she had first met Inuyasha. She thought for about 5 minutes when she realized that she couldn't gaze into the tree forever and pressed on, after a few minutes she reached her house in exhaustion.

"Kagome, welcome home, you seem exhausted do you need a bath?" her mom asked in a pleasant voice.

"Yeah, mom if it's not too much trouble."

"Oh it would be my pleasure, Kagome."

"Um, mom do we have any medicinal supplies?"

"Oh yes of course, we do."

"And mom, can I ask you another question?"

"Sure, ask me anything, Kagome."

"What's my origin? I unleashed magic power in the Sengoku Jidai, is there anything that I should know about?"

"Oh, Kagome, we meant to tell you sooner, but I'm not your real mother. Your real parents were wizards and it seems you have inherited their power. Your parents were after someone named Ansem and they asked us to care for you. Your old home was a place called the Destiny Islands."

"Mom, why haven't you told me this sooner, for 10 years I was living in a world of lies and deception, and you were going to make me wait even longer?"

"Now, now calm down. Think and maybe you can remember how to get there. You can travel with your friends Inuyasha and Sango if you wish."

"Really, I can find the Destiny Islands if I remember?"

"I'll go and get the bath ready for you Kagome."

"Ok, mom, I'll be here thinking."

Kagome sat down in a nearby chair and thought long and hard about the Destiny Islands, but nothing came to her. Just then, Sota walked in through the door.

"Hey, Kagome, I didn't know you'd be back so soon."

"Hey Sora, I mean Sota, whoops sorry about that. Sora?"

As she said that name she remembered when she was 4 yrs old. Her best friend Sora and she remembered where the Destiny Islands were. It was pretty far, but she knew she had to find the Destiny Islands. She ran to get the supplies and ran off.

"Sorry, mom no time for a bath I just need the supplies." Kagome said hurriedly while taking almost all the medicine in the cabinet.

She ran out her house with such excitement and ran towards the Higurashi shrine. She entered and slid the door behind her closed. She jumped down the steps and jumped into the well. She knew her own personal issues shouldn't get in the way of the jewel hunt but she was just so excited
