InuYasha Fan Fiction / Fan Fiction ❯ Elongated death sentence ❯ Chapter 1

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

I have a pic!! So if you want to see yuki go to "http: //www .mediaminer .org/fanar t/view.php /160608" minus the spaces and quotes of course. ^_^
I know what you're thinking. OMG! Why is she starting up another fic, didn't she just con somebody else into writing one for her? Well… it would seem that this stupid idea is more… persistent than the last few I have managed to push to the back of my mind. So I am sorry if I forget my other fics, or I actually do good on this one and then later forget it. *sigh* so much potential disappointment. Well I'd just like to apologize to AngelOFBlades since you are already writing a fic for me, and then here I go starting up a new one. *sniffles* I really do feel guilty, but it wont go away! Hey, READ THAT FIC!, you know, the one angelofblades is writing for me. It is called Dark rebirth
CHAPTER 1

Yuki's eyes fluttered open as she slowly regained consciousness. Out of habit she brought her arm up to block the sunlight that should have filtering through her widow. She soon found out that the gesture was unnecessary, however. Yuki sat up with a jolt.
What was going on? Shouldn't she be at home, snuggled in her overstuffed bed? Yuki almost slapped herself when she remembered what she was doing last night, larceny. A small smirk graced the neko-youkai's lips as she recounted the night's events. She had set out to…liberate the Yamineko pendant. (hmmm should that be yamineko or nekoyami? I am not sure…I think I'm right but Japanese is confusing @_@, just so you know that means dark cat ^_^ I wanted shadow cat, but I was to lazy to look through my list of words) Said pendant would give its wielder the ability to melt into any shadow anywhere and become practically invisible, that is, invisible to the eye. The pendant does nothing against the other senses. So it was pretty much a highly guarded trinket on which she could test her skills.
Yuki glared at the wall opposite, blaming her current position on it. She snorted a very un-ladylike snort. So much for her skills, she was going slowly but undeniably soft. Yuki redoubled her efforts to make the wall crack under the weight of her glare. As she glared Yuki noticed a small crack near the top of her cell. Yes that's right, you guessed it the great Yuki Neko was in a CELL! Yuki stifled the growl that threatened to escape her throat when her hypersensitive ears caught someone's heartbeat. It was coming down the stairs…slowly, quietly, like they didn't want her to know they where coming. Yuki allowed the feral grin that tugged at her lips to spill forth. At last she could vent her frustration without using magic! She rose silently and jumped onto a rafter overlooking her cell.
Yuki almost snorted at her captor's carelessness. What kind of fool would give the enemy higher ground? They obviously didn't know what they where up against. She tilted her nose skyward and took a delicate sniff.
Male, human, reeking of fear, yet there was something about him, something that made her hair stand on end. Yuki snapped from her musings when she heard the leather from his well-oiled boots creek. Nothing anyone else would have picked up, mind you, but Yuki had the best hearing, and sight, but she figured she cam in second everywhere else, so she could practically read his thoughts from his reactions.
The man entered her cell holding a stick in front of him like a sword. Hmm, curious, why would the human bring a stick? Hadn't they taken her weapons from her? She did a quick check of all the places she hid her weapons, and was surprised to find all of them in the right place, un- tampered with. Her eyebrows shot up, the man was muttering something about muggles. What the hell is a muggle? Maybe it is what they call youkai when they are wearing a human disguise. Yuki shrugged her shoulders and dropped silently behind the man. She drew her hand back and sunk the clawed appendage deep into the back of the man's skull.
Yuki stared at her hand in distaste before flicking her fingers several times to remove any residual brain matter. Oh that was yummy, oh well. Now her cell door was open, and she was practically home free. Yuki let out a silent sigh before placing a shield over herself, masking her scent, energy, and general appearance from everyone except those with a high amount of power. Yuki walked to the door and paused, glancing over her shoulder at the dead man. She hadn't really gotten a good look at his face, what with being above him then behind him with her claws massaging his brain. He looked to be in his mid-forties, short brown hair and a pair of glasses that took up over half of his face. All in all, she was glad the world was less one geek.
She shook her head lightly before turning to leave, only to run smack dab into a very firm chest. She `eeped' and tried to back away, only to be foiled again when a pair of strong arms grabbed her, almost painfully.
"Your presence is requested at the counsel room, so MARCH." Yuki winced at the implied threat if she failed to comply. So, reluctantly, she began walking in front of him with only his spear point in her back as a reminder to keep walking.
After about three minutes of walking in silence Yuki could feel the mind-numbing boredom set in. She completely forgot about the silent demon behind her and started whistling a tune her mother used to sing. A quick jab from the spear silenced her soon after she started. Yuki glared over her shoulder at the demon.
"You will die for that you know." Her tone was light, cheerful, like discussing the weather. The demon chuckled and spat in a disgusted voice.
"What the fuck could a scrawny human like you do to me?"
Yuki felt her anger rise, not because of the human remark, (the purpose of disguises are to trick people ne?) but because he called her `scrawny'.
"I'll have you know that every man I have met, who isn't gay, has enjoyed my figure thoroughly."
The demon snorted and prodded her side, trying to herd her in the direction of the counsel room.
" Baka, I know the way, you don't need to prod me like a fucking cow!" Yuki snapped at him, her aura flaring more than necessary. The guard growled and took a step towards her. Yuki watched this impassively, waiting for him to come close enough…A voice from behind them made the guard stop in his tracks, a guilty expression covering his face.
"Lady Neko, I would be eternally grateful if you didn't make me clean up after your temper twice in one sitting."
The guard turned on his heel and fell to his knees. Yuki didn't move, instead chose to watch the woman to see her reaction.
"Your own fault, don't put me with people who deserve to die and we wouldn't have a problem now would we?"
Yuki's voice was cold, emotionless. She had long since redoubled her shield in the presence of the miko, even though she was pretty sure she could see through it. After all, Yuki wasn't putting any magic behind it. The miko nodded curtly and motioned for her to follow. Yuki did so with out hesitation.
She followed the miko in the same silence she had shared with the guard. Yuki was about to start whistling when she heard the miko jog ahead and take a seat. Yuki automatically stopped, and took a defensive stance.
There was complete silence in the room, sans the rapid heartbeats of those who feared her. So the entire room was alive with hurried pulses. Along with the semi-silence there was complete darkness, Yuki was working on that though. She had gotten to the point where she could tell which counsel member was who when a bright light flashed right in her face. Yuki reacted without thinking, she snarled, lashed out at the light, then retreated to the shadows with her newly acquired skill. Yuki had just grazed the light, so it was blinking on and off sporadically. It reminded her strongly of human nightclubs and strobe lights. She growled in annoyance when the light was finally fixed and placed, more gently, before her.
The miko from before spoke.
"Yuki Neko."
"Hn."
"You have been accused of 1st 2nd and 3rd degree murder, conspiracy, extortion, larceny, plus several assault and battery charges from before. How do you plead?"
"Not guilty."
She spoke without wavering, calmly meeting the eyes of all present. A tall inu-youkai sitting next to the miko from before frowned then spoke.
"We all saw you use the power you so recently stole! What do you have to say for yourself?"
Yuki shrugged, not like anything they layed on her would matter. She was, after all, immortal, so what was a few millennia? The miko sighed wearily and rubbed the bridge of her nose, apparently fighting off a migraine.
"Fine, we find you guilty of all charges. Your punishment will be to protect a human boy until we say otherwise."
Yuki's jaw made a soft thud when as it hit the ground.
"W-what!?!?!?! You have got to be shitin me!"
In answer the miko waved at an elderly woman and she opened a door, revealing a very nervous looking 16-year-old human boy. He had messy black hair, large black glasses covering bright green eyes, and the strangest scar she had seen in quite a while. He was in a baggy hooded sweatshirt with worn baggy jeans held up by a flimsy belt, the clothes where obviously at lest 5 sizes to big for the boy. Yuki would have laughed, had the situation allowed.
"Yuki, you will be his sole protector until we tell you differently."
Yuki was trying to control her urge to laugh, though she was sure she looked very angry (if the fearful looks and glances from the council members where anything to go by, that is). The boy cast a very uneasy glance around the room. The miko, seeing his unease, spoke to him in kind tones.
"What about you? Do you agree to this, she will be with you for a while…"
He cut her off, and said with a cheery accent.
"I would be happy to."
The miko awarded him with a smile, then said briskly.
"Wonderful! Right then, on with the next case!"
"WHAT!?!?! NO! Not next case! I refuse to be this human's servant! Think of something else!"
Yuki was fuming, clenching and unclenching her fists, her tail straight out behind her ridged. The miko's eyes tuned cold.
"It is this or death."
Yuki was about to choose death, when she say the look in the miko's eyes. It was like she was saying `say I choose death and I will purify you slowly, hair by hair.' Yuki swallowed her smart ass comment and nodded sadly, trying to look as heartbroken.
The miko either didn't notice, or didn't care. She shot the boy another smile then shoved them both into a black hole that had suddenly formed behind them.
The boy landed on the floor in an undignified heap while Yuki landed gracefully, balancing on her toes while she waited for him to get up. Once he did he extended his hand, eyes still closed (y'know how when you fall on yer ass and it still hurts but you can function so yo just keep your eyes closed for a bit…well that's what hes doin) .
"Hullo, I'm Harry Potter, what is your name?"
She took his hand in her and shook it warmly, waiting for his reaction to her fur. While she was waiting she answered him, a bit of her amusement leaking into her voice.
"Yuki Neko, expert assassin and thief extraordinaire."
Harry dropped her hand as though she had burnt him.
"A-assassin?"
She made a humming noise in the back of her throat, answering `yes' to his question. He had yet to open his eyes so she couldn't nod, as she would have preferred. Yuki had a sneaking suspicion that this kid was going to make her talk to him…damn. Yuki wandered the small room as Harry regained his composure. Out of the middle of nowhere she asked.
"Poor family?"
Harry finally opened his eyes, but dropped them promptly to the ground, not even looking at her.
"Not really, I'm the black sheep of my family."
Yuki nodded her head out of habit. Harry had caught a motion out of the corner of his eye. It was her golden tresses bobbing up and down in time with her head as she nodded.
"So am I, except…"
She shook her head. Harry would have pressed her to say more, but he was entranced with her fair locks. The shake of her head has sent the blonde waves crashing against her calves and the strange white boots. It was the most fascinating thing he had ever witnessed. Suddenly Harry had a thought, if the ends of her hair and her calves where this interesting what will the rest of her be like? He tried to think clean thoughts as his eyes traveled up her lithe blue body……wait a tic, blue body. He did a double take. Yes, she was indeed blue, and what was even stranger was the fact that she had a tail…a blue tail. Well actually it had this strange red design at its base and it had a tuft of blonde hair at the end, and it had on some weird jewelry, but it was a tail nonetheless.
Harry shook his head and decided to start over. He started at her boots…weird boots. They had red leather over her foot, and silver metal over her heel. The rest of the boot was white leather, with this….metal thing… he didn't know how to describe it, it was just this piece of metal that was hanging from the back of her calf…weird boots. Her legs, up to just above the knee, where wrapped in dark blue material. Under that she was wearing spandex pants…well he thought they where spandex, they sure clung like spandex…bad thoughts…her pants only came up to her hips, leaving 3 inches of bare skin between her bellybutton and her pants…more bad thoughts…her vest thing was…well, it was really revealing. The sleeves where ripped off at the shoulders, and it was long, like went past her butt long. Except it only had two buttons left, so her entire stomach was exposed, showing that the same strange red design that was on her tail surrounded her stomach, not going over, just framing…weird. She had on arm things too….he didn't know what to say there. They where arm things…and umm they had…things. He gave up on them and moved to her jewelry. It was everywhere! She even had little bits of it hanging from those metal things on her boots, all of it looked really expensive too. Harry got the feeling that she hadn't paid a penny for any of it. As he finally moved his gaze from where it had been lingering on her chest to her face. His breath caught in his throat. There, standing before him was his personal fantasy, granted she was blue instead of tan, and she had huge ears, and she had a tail, and she was furry, and she was a murderous thief…ok she was a bit different, but not that much.
Harry sighed and leaned back against the bed. ( he was still on the floor)
"I'm sorry, I never gave my full title like you did. I'm Harry Potter Sixth Year at Hogarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry."
She blinked owlishly at him a few times before asking in a confused tone.
"Who's school of what now?"
