Green Eyed Gold
Friendly Banter
Sesshoumaru had set up camp four miles away from the village his brother and wench stayed at. He was quiet, as usual, but he radiated confusion. Kagome felt distressed. He could tell. What would distress her though? Why would she feel this way?
He didn't know, and that was what bothered him.
…
Daybreak came early as Sesshoumaru felt. He wasn't ready to face her, but he needed to find answers. He needed to know what was bothering her. Knowing she wouldn't be up for another four hours Sesshoumaru went to bathe. He reached the springs which were nearby in minutes, there weren't hot springs, but they weren't cold, thankfully.
Sesshoumaru slid off his armor and shirt, taking off his black shoes, and finally his pants he waded into the water, his tail trailing behind him.
The great Western Lord closed his eyes and began to think upon the time he first met the wench alone.
…
He was walking the forests of his lands aimlessly. He skipped another meeting today; he didn't want to be in a room full of yokai who insist upon him taking a mate. It was insane! Annoying! Why would he want a mate at the tender age of eight-hundred and twenty-five? He was still a mere pup! Okay, maybe that was taking it a bit far. He wasn't a pup per se but still! Why can't they just leave him alone?
So caught in his thoughts he never noticed the girl that was right in his path until he ran into her. He growled angrily.
“Wench, what do you think you are doing?”
“Well sor-ry Sesshoumaru!” the woman cried.
“Do you dare insult this Sesshoumaru?” Sesshoumaru demanded.
“I dare alright!” the girl cried and then mumbled, “both alike, calling me wench. Baka Inuyasha.”
“Onna, you shall treat this Sesshoumaru with respect!”
The girl snorted.
“I treat those with respect when they deserve it! And I have a name! It's Kagome! Ka-go-me!”
In a manner of seconds he had her pinned against a tree by the neck.
“You will treat this Sesshoumaru with respect.”
“Or what?”
Sesshoumaru grit his teeth in anger, trying to keep his calm façade which was slowly fading. No person had ever been able to do this to him. No one besides this little girl. This—
“You're the half-breed's wench,” Sesshoumaru growled deeply.
“So?” the girl shot back.
“You have just treaded on very dangerous grounds,” Sesshoumaru was in control still, but he lost it all when the girl shot out a blast of power—miko he noted—and in turn knocking him into a tree. His eyes bled red. “Wech,” he snarled, startling the girl as he appeared right before her. Suddenly he stopped, hand holding her hair tightly. What an intoxicating scent…how could this human have it?
He buried his face in her neck, nuzzled it for a second before nipping the skin.
“You're mine,” the Lord of the Western Nation growled. The girl's eyes widened.
“Se-Sess-Sesshoumaru,” the girl whispered. Her voice was near a whimper. Sesshoumaru paid her no mind as he continued to nuzzle her neck before piercing the skin with his teeth. He released her.
“We'll meet again, miko.”
In a flash he left her behind, never looking back, and as he ran his inner demon left, leaving Sesshoumaru wondering just why he did that.
…
Sesshoumaru looked up, it was almost noon. He'd go check up on Rin before heading towards the old well.
…
From the tree's, down wind, Sesshoumaru watched her.
Kagome sat at the lip of the well, a letter in hand. She opened it again and read through the delicate parchment. It had arrived via an owl in her own time. She knew she had to accept. There was no choice. The letter stated that clearly. She just only needed to say goodbye.
Sesshoumaru frowned. He could sense the tension in her aura, and knew something was wrong.
“Hurry up Sesshoumaru,” she whispered.
“And why should this Shessoumaru hurry for you, wench?”
Kagome turned around with a smile on his face, and Sesshoumaru couldn't help the twitch of his lips.
“Sesshoumaru,” she whispered softly. “Gomen nasai, but I will be gone for several months.” Sesshoumaru's eyes took a saddened tint to them, the same tint that had been in his eyes before he had met Kagome. “Sesshoumaru, gomen nasai.” The girl's voice sounded broken; weak. She was terrified.
“Kagome,” Sesshoumaru spoke softly, standing before her, lifting up her chin, “just because you must leave does not mean I will forget.” The girl he had come to love gave a smile.
“Arigato, Sesshoumaru,” she whispered. “Ja.” She turned towards the well only to find Sesshoumaru in her path.
“You will first tell this Sesshoumaru,” Sesshoumaru spoke with a spark in his eyes, “why you must leave.” Kagome humphed and crossed her arms.
“There is no need,” she said, turning her face to the side.
“You will tell this Sesshoumaru, wench,” Sesshoumaru growled.
“Or you'll do what?” Kagome demanded, turning fierce eyes towards him.
“This,” without any more voiced words Sesshoumaru yanked her towards himself and kissed her fiercely, nibbling on her lip with his fangs. He released five seconds later, though it seemed longer to Kagome. “Now tell this Sesshoumaru.”
“I don't think I will,” Kagome spoke defiantly.
“Wench,” Sesshoumaru growled.
“I have a name you—” the rest of Kagome's sentence was silenced by another kiss that left her breathless. Sesshoumaru moved his mouth towards her ear.
“Tell me now, and I'll give you more,” he whispered. The young miko couldn't help but shudder, making Sesshoumaru smirk.
“This letter,” Kagome replied softly, handing over the letter. Their little banter was done with, Kagome had been defeated once again and the score rested at ten to zero.
Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow at the letter, words written in a foreign language.
“And what does it say?” he asked, staring at the letter in slight confusion. The foreign language looked slightly familiar, though he couldn't read it, exactly.
“It's an invite, to a magic school,” Sesshoumaru growled at that statement, “and I have no say in the matter. I have to go,” Kagome ended softly.
“Why?”
“U-Uh, well you s-see…” Seshoumaru raised an eyebrow at her. “The man who runs the school holds Shikon shards, and he won't give them to me unless I help him find a Harry Potter and attend his school.”
“Harry Potter,” Sesshoumaru mulled over the name. His brow furrowed. It was familiar…yet not familiar. This puzzled him to no end and he hated puzzles.
“Sesshoumaru?” Sesshoumaru snapped out of his thoughts and turned back towards Kagome. “Can I have the letter back? It has directions.”
Sesshoumaru handed the letter back but just as she was about to leap into the well he grabbed her arm, letting her drag him down as well.
The blue light surrounded them, and for once, Sesshoumaru almost regretted his decision.
Almost.
