Okay, guys, this is a Sess/Kag fanfic. Go easy on me cuz I've never done one of these before. Anyway, enjoy!

Kagome ran down the hallway, clutching her books to her chest as she ran. What a morning! Not only had she not woken up to her alarm, she missed Sango's shower "songs" too!

She shoved the door open and fell into the classroom as her teacher started the lesson. "Well, Ms. Kagome." Mr. Tanaka noted as he wrote her name down. "It appears that you are late." Kagome nodded and blushed as she headed to her normal seat.

As the already tomato red girl set her books on the desk, she found them shoved off into the floor. "Inuyasha! Watch what you're doing, feather-brain!" Kagome looked up at what she thought was Inuyasha. She saw someone else instead. Kikyo! Kikyo looked back up at Kagome. "I'm sorry, Kagome, is this your seat? It looks like you're stuck over there today. Bye!" Then, Kikyo went back to "paying attention" to the teacher. <A/N. Sure. Kikyo next to Inuyasha and pays attention to something else? Come on!>

Taking a seat next to Miroku, she stared over at Kikyo and Inuyasha. How could this be? She had been sitting next to Inuyasha since the beginning of the year! Now she was 10 minutes late and he had already replaced her?! No! She was thinking nonsense! Inuyasha loved her! Putting the thought from her mind, she pulled out her notebook and began to take notes.

"Hm, let's see…I have english next." Kagome looked up at the clock. "Darn it! I left my book at home! Oh well. Inuyasha sleeps through that class anyway so he won't need his book!" So, she marched off to Inuyasha's locker, hoping he was there.

As she arrived with a smile on her face, she looked upon the weirdest, most disgusting thing she had ever seen! <A/N- Just in case you're wondering, no. It was not the two other guys making out right in front of Kagome. She's used to that.> It was Inuyasha and Kikyo. "Inuyasha!" "Huh?!" Inuyasha quickly left Kikyo by his locker to go and stand next to Kagome and comfort her. "Kagome, it's not what you think!" "Forget it Inu! Just let me have your english book. I left mine at home!" Inuyasha turned back to his locker, got out his book and handed it to Kagome. "Thank you, Mr. Inuyasha Masaharu!" Kagome turned and walked away. "Wait! Kagome!" Just as Inuyasha began to go after Kagome, Kikyo grabbed his arm and pulled her back to his locker. "She just needs some time to cool down. Leave her alone for a bit…" Inuyasha stared after Kagome as she disappeared into the crowd.

Walking down the hallway, Sesshoumaru looked down upon all the other students. He couldn't believe these little kids. Walking around, giggling like hyenas. Rolling his eyes, he proceeded down the hallway.

Then, he saw something. A boy <A/N- None other than our beloved monk> went up behind a rather short, black haired girl. Normal. He turned his thoughts to something more important. What he did not know…but something more important. He looked down at the two just in time to see Miroku grop for the girl's posterior. Suddenly, Sesshoumaru's "protective side" kicked into high gear. He dropped his books and grabbed Miroku's wrist and wrenched it around to where it looked unnatural. With his usual ill-interested smirk, he stared at Miroku. "You should not be so disrespectful as to let your hands wander like that."

Miroku's eyes got real big and he nodded multiple times. Releasing his hand, Sesshoumaru turned to pick up his books only to find that the girl had already picked them up and was handing them to him. "Uh…thanks." With that, Sesshoumaru turned and walked away.

Lunch time! Kagome got her lunch and walked through the cafeteria. Looking around for a seat, she saw two seats left at her usual table: one by Miroku and one by Inuyasha. Smiling, she turned and headed for the seat by Inuyasha. Suddenly, she found Kikyo in the seat and clinging to Inuyasha like a hungry leech. Miroku noticed her and motioned for her to sit down by patting the seat next to him.

Instead, Kagome turned and looked for another seat. Staring around the lunch room, she saw a whole empty table…well…almost empty. Sesshoumaru was sitting at this table like he did everyday and not worrying about or thinking about anything in particular. Kagome decided to go and eat lunch with him.

Sitting down in the seat in front of the silent Sesshoumaru, she began to create conversation…or tried at least. "Hey, thanks for saving me from that pervert earlier." All she got was a nod. "Uh…this is good huh?" No response. "I'm Kagome by the way! Kagome Higurashi." She stared at Sesshoumaru, wondering if he would respond. Waving her hand in front of his face she questioned him. "Hello? Is anybody in there?" She suddenly found his hand wrapped around her wrist in a tight fashion. He looked at the scared look in her eyes and found himself letting go. <What? Why the heck did I just do that?!> Going back to his food, Sesshoumaru tore away from her gaze. "So…what's your name?"

For the first time, Sesshoumaru felt compelled to answer someone's question. How strange…Looking back up at his lunch companion, he answered. "Sesshoumaru…Masaharu…" Kagome smiled and went back to her lunch as well. And throughout the whole time, they didn't speak another word. Yet, Sesshoumaru found himself periodically staring up at Kagome for short periods of time, memorizing her every feature for one reason or another.
