As the sun rose over the horizon Kagome's eye fluttered open. She looked around the room and her gaze fell on a set of golden eyes staring at her. “Did I wake you?” Inuyasha knew that Kagome needed her rest, but Kagome knew it was time to get moving because they would be leaving the immortal realm today.
“No. It's just time to get up that's all.” Inuyasha smiled and nodded his head. Kagome slowly got out of bed realizing that it was hard for her to move her legs. She felt like she had just got done running a couple miles.
“Sore?” Inuyasha couldn't help but smirk. Kagome just stuck her tongue out at him. She entered the bathroom and showered quickly. When she reentered the room she found Sanota with two set of clothes in her hands. She smiled at the young couple and placed the clothes on the near by table before she left. `She must know just like everyone else seems to, but at least she didn't say anything.” Inuyasha quickly changed into his clothes along with Kagome and they quickly headed towards the dining hall.
As they entered the dining hall, they saw Miroku and Sango waiting for them. Inuyasha noticed a different scent in the air; he knew that the scent told him that Sango and Miroku had mated as well. Inuyasha couldn't help but smile as he thought about how to tease the monk, but he quickly remembered how he felt last night when Pluto had done that to him. After talking among themselves and eating a quick breakfast Saturn, Starfire, Moonstriker, and Uranus joined them. The four young warriors didn't say anything for a long period of time but finally Saturn broke the silence. “We have to take you back to the bay near the Sea of Carone. There we can open the portal to send you back home.” Even though Saturn sounded happy deep down she felt torn apart.
“Well then I guess we'd better get going.” Sango couldn't help but allow her voice to crack. As the group rose to leave Swanalow entered the dining hall.
“Before you leave I wish to say good-bye. Sango, Miroku, and Kagome I hope that as mortals you will never forget this place. And Inuyasha I hope you will take the honor of being called a young one from me. I hope that we will meet again someday.” Swanalow felt tears seeping from her eyes as she quickly hugged Sango and Kagome good-bye. She would have hugged Miroku and Inuyasha, but knew that was a bad idea. After the group said good-bye to the princess and the two servants who help them adjust to this world, they left the castle feeling empty inside.
“Where's Sun and the others?” Kagome didn't want to leave without saying good-bye to them.
“They're meeting us there. Don't worry they wouldn't let you leave without saying good-bye.” Moonstriker smiled at Kagome knowing that made the young mortal feel better. The group walked in silence through the valley and along the trail that lead them to where they first met Katana and Arrow. Kagome stopped and bowed to the entrance as she said a small pray for them. When she finished she turned to see Saturn smiling at her.
“They would want to wish you good-bye if they could. Just don't take their death in vain Kagome; they wouldn't want that.” Kagome nodded understanding what Saturn meant. After taking one last look at the valley the group continued into the woods, Kagome noticed that the four warriors walked with their bodies tensed. They were obviously preparing themselves for anything. As they came to the clearing, where the Green Hawk made her sacrifice Kagome couldn't help but shutter.
“This place gives me goose bumps.” As if to answer Kagome's comment something dashed out from the trees and hit Uranus hard sending her backwards. Starfire and Moonstriker tried to counter but were knocked backwards by a tail. The group turned to see a huge dragon standing before them. Its black scales shimmered in the sunlight as it attacked Saturn forcing her away from the group. Before Inuyasha could react a black lizard like creature grabbed Kagome. The creature looked like it was a cross between human and lizard and to top it off it had wings. Taking a few bounding leaps the creature soared out of sight with a screaming Kagome. Uranus, Starfire, and Moonstriker quickly recovered as they watched the creature and dragon both disappear.
“Damn it!” Uranus took off with the others close behind her. She had Kagome's scent and she wasn't going to let the damn creature hurt her. After running what seemed like miles, they came to another clearing. Kagome stood unharmed in the clearing with Neptune.
“Kagome.” Inuyasha was relieved to see his mate was unharmed. After making sure, she was safe Inuyasha noticed that there was a familiar scent nearby. Inuyasha flexed his claws and was ready to pounce, but stopped when Neptune placed her hand on his arm.
“It's all right Inuyasha. They're friends.”
“Friends!? They kidnapped Kagome.”
“That's because I asked them too.”
“Why? And why would they attack Star and the others?”
“It was all part of my plan Inuyasha. First, let me introduce the other four chosen ones of this world. This is Gryffin, Una, Gargoyle, and Drak. They are chosen ones like me and my allies. Now let me explain why I had Kagome kidnapped.” Inuyasha wanted to scream at Neptune but knew it was no good so he decided to listen to her explanation. “After I talked with you last night I was informed that if you were to go through with the bondage ceremony Kagome would die. Then I was told that I could prevent this. Una and I are chosen ones from unicorn blood lines and we can grant one wish to a worthy soul.” Inuyasha didn't really understand what Neptune was saying but decided to wait till she was done. “Last night you technically wished for a different way to do the bondage ceremony and now I have to grant that wish, but I can't do it alone. So I sought out the help of Una and had Drak and Gargoyle kidnap Kagome. Star and the others knew of my plan that's why they didn't attack back.”
Inuyasha finally understood what Neptune was saying. She could perform the bondage ceremony without him having to hurt Kagome. “So what do I have to do?” Neptune smiled seeing that Inuyasha got the message.
“Take Kagome's hands in your own and close your eyes.” Inuyasha did as he was told. He sensed Neptune stepping towards them along with the one she called Una. She place her hands on their shoulders as Una stood behind her ready to assist the guardian if necessary. Neptune concentrated on the young couple and began to feel her energy leave her. Inuyasha felt as if he was losing feeling in his hands and oddly enough, Kagome felt the same way. “Done.” Neptune collapsed to the forest floor and Una knelt beside her making sure that the young warrior was all right. Inuyasha opened his eyes and couldn't believe what he saw. A small silver mark laid on Kagome's neck letting him know where to mark her when they mated next.
“By the gods…” Starfire laughed at her friend's reaction. Inuyasha just gave her a funny look and turned his attention to Neptune. “Guardian, are you all right?”
“I'm fine just a little drained that's all. And I'm glad to see it worked.”
Saturn couldn't help but feel curious at why her cousin would do such a thing that would deplete her of most of her energy. “Nep, why did you do this for them?”
“Because I didn't want him to know the pain I have felt.” Saturn smiled knowing what her cousin meant.
“Bronze would be proud of you.”
“I know.” For the first time Inuyasha saw a hint of tears in Neptune's eyes but decided not to ask about it. “Well we better get moving. The others are waiting.” The group left the clearing after Neptune said farewell to her four friends. Inuyasha couldn't help but feel the need to know what Neptune meant by not wanting him to know the pain she felt. As they passed a near by river Inuyasha pulled Starfire back to walk with him alone. Kagome didn't think anything of it and neither did anyone else.
“Star I need to ask you something.” Starfire looked at the half demon with confusion written on her face.
“Okay shoot.”
“What did the Guardian mean when she said that she didn't want me to know the pain she has felt?” Starfire looked at Inuyasha knowing that she shouldn't tell him what happened to Neptune, but she also knew that he wouldn't stop bugging her till she told him.
“Well. I shouldn't be telling you this, but I know you won't shut up till I do.” Inuyasha snorted at her comment but knew she was right. “Before we became Sun Warriors we were Hawk Warriors you remember us mentioning that right?” Inuyasha nodded. “Well there are actually fourteen Hawk Warriors not thirteen. The first six were Gold, Silver, Brown, Yellow, Bronze, and Red. They were an incredible fighting force and soon something developed between Gold and Bronze hawk. Bronze hawk was a young one like me and well Gold hawk is Neptune; anyway they loved each other very much until one day while fighting the Wolvalocks Bronze hawk was seriously injured and Gold hawk tried to use her powers to save him but he didn't say that he wished to live, so he died. The Guardian fell into a state of depression and Lovtra said that it was because she lost her soul mate. So when she found out that completing the bonding ceremony would tear you two apart she did the only thing she knew. She did what she couldn't do for her and her love.” Inuyasha couldn't believe his ears and he gained more respect for the Guardian.
“Star, she truly is a great warrior isn't she?”
“If only you knew Inuyasha. If only you knew.”
