Chapter One:

Kagome sat at the edge of InuYashas' forest, crying lightly. InuYasha, the man she had just admitted to loving, she had seen only moments before with Kikyo.
Kagome was now at the end of her rope. She couldn't go home, Naraku made sure of that by killing her family then destroying the well, and she didn't have any more friends because they too had died. The only survivors of the final battle had been she herself, InuYasha, Sesshomaru and Kikyo. Not even Rin and Shippo had survived. The demon insects had poisoned then when no one was around and tensaiga could not revive them. When Kagome had found out she was enraged and went after Naraku herself. She fought until she could fight no more. Then in the final moments of the battle, InuYasha and Sesshomaru and called a momentary truce and used their swords together, killing Naraku in one fatal swoop.
After all that Sesshomaru left to go home and InuYasha left to Kikyo; leaving Kagome to sit and cry alone. She had nothing against Kikyo anymore, now it was all InuYasha.

“I hate you InuYasha…” She cried into her hands. “Why did you tell me you loved me and wanted to be with me then go off to Kikyo?”

“I see that my brother is turning back into his old self with Kikyos' body restored to a living one.” Sesshomaru said walking up the tree roots and sitting next to Kagome. “In your time, was this tree there?”

“Yes, it was… We stood beneath this tree when my father died; it didn't blossomed after that. Except the summer I turned fifteen and fell into the well. It had one blossom on it and the more I came and went the more blossoms were on it when I returned. I remember it, beautiful white flower petals and deep green leaves. Even the way the flowers smelled was enchanting.” She looked at him and smiled. “Why do you ask though?”

“Every time I have come here seeking out my brother I have seen you sitting beneath this tree, thinking, crying and laughing with the fox child. I thought it must have had some other importance other than the fact that you just liked the spot.” Sesshomaru leaned back against the tree and closed his eyes. “This really is a rather nice spot though.”
There was a brief pause and Sesshomaru opened his eyes again. “Did you have any other family other than the ones that were slain?”

“Well yes, my grandpa on my mothers' side of the family everyone on that side is alive to my knowledge except for her sister in-law Kyoko, my cousin Tohru called and told us she had died in an accident.”

“There is your link between this time and that one. I can get you home to your own time. I will have to train you until you can hit me and cause pain and I will have to teach you demon magic. It's complicated and painful for a human to use, especially one with priestess powers. But you will live.” Sesshomaru was now standing and stretching his legs. “What do you say, a chance to get home to a place where there are still people who care for you?”

“Will you really help me Sesshomaru, what would you want in return? I will be happy to give you anything you want!” She said standing slowly. “I really will.”

“I want but only one thing, be my friend. Please, be my friend. You remind me of Rin and how she was always so cheerful. She was going to be ten this year. It drove me insane knowing I could not bring her back. Like it drove you insane knowing you could not help the kitsune.”

“Sesshomaru… I would be happy to be your friend. But when, if I do go back to my time, come with me, you would fit in just fine, I've seen you disguise your marks before. So I know you can look human.” Kagome smiled.

“Kagome, would you like to know a secret?” Sesshomaru said. “I've been traveling to your time sense before your parents even thought of you… But I will come back for a while; one must make appearances, and more make up. You see though the lines and moon are real, I do wear eye shadow.”

Kagome was silent for a moment and grinned. “It looks good on you.”

“Let's get going then…Wow it feels very good to be able to talk to someone like they do in you time. Oh I will have to go back to your time soon anyhow, I have to get Shiguras' manuscript from him. He's probably been giving that poor woman, Mai, a headache.”

“I bet, wahhh!” Kagome shrieked as Sesshomaru unexpectedly picked her up and flew off.

*****W/ Tohru Honda.*****

“Hmmm, Tohru what's for breakfast?” Shigura said sitting at the table. “I'm starving.”

“Here you go…” Tohru said and smiled as she sat a bowl down in front of him, I'm sorry I couldn't make anything more, but, we need to go shopping. All we had left were leeks from the garden..”

“Oh it's alright… Better than nothing.”

“SHIGURA!!! You need to get you manuscript done soon, Sessho is coming back to Japan soon. If you do this to him then it will be then end of your writing career!” The woman yelled. “Please, please just have it done but the time school lets out again…”

“Why, he has never hurt me before?”

“He might now, word is his moving back for good and supposedly he's bringing a girl with him, his apprentice I believe, she'll be going to school here!”

“That's nice, yay, high school girls!” Shigura shouted.

“Shut up you sick old man!” Kyo said throwing a rag at him.

“What's going on?” Yuki said.

“My publisher is moving back to Japan, supposedly somewhere around here with his apprentice, but I know that Sessho doesn't take apprenticeships and hates the thought of it!”

“Shigura, you're going to get yourself killed.” The woman said and sighed, “I'm leaving”

“Bye!” He said happily.

***** In the past*****

“Kagome, wake up, training day has arrived!” Sesshomaru growled in her ear. “Get up or the priestess eating cave is going to chew your foot off.”

“What! Where!” Kagome said sitting up in bed. “What happened?”

“You are at my home, you fell asleep on the way here… Oh and I have taken care of everything in your time. The police no you are alive, I told them you are my apprentice and were with me when… the, tragety took place and you will be starting in a school in the same city your cousin lives in.”

“Wow, thank you…”

“Your welcome, now we need to start training today. There is woman fighting garb in that dresser, pick something out then go eat breakfast, when you are done come to my study and I will find you a sword then when we are finished with that for the day we will start teaching you the demon language and how to use the magic. Of course I hope you can find some way to master your priestess power too, it will help with the pain.”

“Alright…” She said standing and stretching.

Kagome dressed after Sesshomaru had left and left to go to his study after she had eaten and sat on a mat. Sesshomaru came in only moments later and waved Kagome in to the back room which was a dojo.

“Oh wow…” Kagome said and looked around with wide eyes. “It's huge!”

“Yes… Well… Let's get you sword.” He said and walked over to a wall, taking down a sword and weighing it with his left hand. “How does this one feel to you?”

Kagome took it from him and almost fell. “Heavy!”

He took the sword back from her and grabbed another. “How about this one.”

Kagome took it and lifted it with both hands. “Still heavy.”

“Too bad.” Sesshomaru said. “That is the lightest one that I have. You'll be learning with it.” He said and grinned. “Come on we will get started.” He fell into a fighting position. “Attack me!”

“But I… I know I can't hit…”

“Imagine all of that anger you directed at Naraku for what he did to all of your friends, direct it at me and attack! Now!”

Kagome stared down at the sword remembering everything Naraku had put her through. She began to shake with anger and sadness. The sword glowed deep purple and began to ring with a high-pitched screech.

“DAMN IT!” She said angrily. The dark purple glow changed bright red then green, gold, pink, black and at last bright glowing blue. “Please Sesshomaru, do not hold back! I do not want to have to rely on anyone taking care of me ever again!”

He nodded and charged at her drawing his sword and bringing it down over her. Kagome blocked it and threw him off, she countered his attack and sent a wave of energy after him. It got on him and surrounded him. He cried out in pain and Kagome threw down her sword and ran up to him as he screamed.

“Sesshomaru!” She yelled and grabbed onto him, inevitably ending the assault from the blue energy. “Oh god, are you ok… I am so sorry. I did not mean to… That… I did something like that to Naraku… I didn't mean to do it to you though.”

He groaned and looked at her. “That was, pretty good… And, you are obviously good with swords…as I understand the people in your time have kendo training sometimes right?”

“Yeah… I was in the kendo club until I started coming here… I have trouble with hand to had combat not sword fighting… I should have told you that…”

“It's ok… I will help you with that tomorrow then… I feel a pain in my side.”

“ok….” Kagome said and helped him up. “I really am sorry. I had no idea that was going to happen.”

“Why don't you come with to the hot springs for a while… A good soak despite the ten minutes of fighting would feel good right about now.” He looked at her walking out the door. “The springs are divided so, you don't have to feel shy about anything.”

“Alright…” Kagome said and smiled slightly.

After they got to the hot spring Kagome when to her side and Sesshomaru to his, as Sesshomaru undress he notice a hand print on his side where it hurt; his eyes widened. It was bright red and burned as if a priestess had been trying to purify him.

“Of course, it was a purifying attack… She said she did something like that to Naraku…” He murmured to himself. “But a hand print… What does that mean… A spirit attack…no… What was it…” He lifted his head to see Kagome standing before him with her head bowed, only this wasn't Kagome. It was an image of her with longer hair that was white with black streaks running through it, her fingernails were long as claws and her skin was tan and shiny. As she lifted her head he could see her ears where pointed and her lips crimson, her light blue eyes danced like a flame. Then the image was gone, like a fleeting memory. “Kagome,” He called loud enough she could here. “I'm going back to the study, feel free to spend as much time here as needed.”

“ok,” she said back quietly and began to think to herself. “I can't believe I did that to him, I was told to never do that! Unleashing hell upon someone is not a good thing… Especially when I do it… At least I ended it in time…I can't let him know I know how to fight or speak and read the demon language either, he'll want to know how I learned, that will bring back too many painful memories… I don't…I don't want to remember my purpose for being alive…” She bowed her head. “I don't want to kill anyone!”

Unknown to her Sesshomaru had heard everything she had said and was not happy.
So she knew everything and was not telling him, she was putting him through pain and in her words `unleashing hell' upon him. In his mind this was betrayal and she would now have to pay if not with her life, she would have to remain his servant. He thought she was like Rin, now he thought he was wrong. He heard Kagome standing up and getting out and he left quickly to the study.
When she was dressed and arrived at the study she was greeted by a cold silence. Sesshomaru was sitting and glaring at her as she walked in. Before she could even close the door behind of her Sesshomaru had grabbed her head and pinned her against the wall.

“Were you using me!” He yelled. “WERE YOU USING ME!”

“No…” Kagome said wide-eyed. “I wasn't using you…”

He threw her onto a mat and was half tempted to kill her then, but he restrained himself. Instead he knelt down and held her head again, pressing his claws into her neck.
“Am I hurting you? Am I causing you discomfort? Then why were you not telling me you knew the demon language… That you knew how to fight!!! You could have killed me!” He hissed and watched tears stream down her face.

“BUT I DIDN'T DID I!” She yelled and tried to make him let go of her. “I STOPPED THE STUPID SPELL BEFORE YOU WERE EVEN HURT! IF I WERE GOING TO KILL YOU IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THEN! Now please let me go…”

“NO! I WANT AN EXPLAINATION BEFORE I THROW YOU OUT!!! AND I WANT THE TRUTH!!!” He yelled and glared down at her.

“FINE, YOU WANT THE TRUTH, HERE'S THE TRUTH!!!” She yelled back. “I AM NOT WHAT I SEEM! I ADMIT IT! BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO! THEN AGAIN WHY WOULD IF YOU WERE THE SPAWN OF A DEVIL! MY MOTHER WAS RAPED AND ENDED UP WITH ME THEN SHE GOT MARRIED AND HAD MY BROTHER AND MY `FATHER' DIED IN A CAR ACCIDENT! IT WAS BECAUSE MY REAL FATHER WAS MAD AT MY MOTHER! SHE FINALLY GOT TO BE HAPPY THEN HER LOVER WAS KILLED OF COURSE SHE KNEW THIS AND TOLD ME I WAS TO NEVER UNLEASH HELL UNLESS I ABSOLUTLELY HAD TO!” Kagome stopped and took a breath, her voice was becoming hors. “THAT IS WHAT I DID TO YOU SEESHOMARU! I ACCIDENTALY UNLEASHED HELL ON YOU! THAT MEANS, IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW, I OPENED THE GATES TO HELL AND RELEASED THE SPIRITS THAT WERE THERE!!! YOU'RE LUCKY I CARE SO MUCH ABOUT YOU!” The tears were now streaming down both of their faces. “If I touch the person I unleash hell upon the spirits will attack me and the gates of hell will close, and the spirits are sent back. That is how it works… I had to be trained when I was young so I would be strong enough if I did open the gates… I wouldn't be killed, that was my mothers worst fear, she didn't want me in hell…” Kagome rasped. “I've seen what hell looks like in my dreams and I don't want to go there.”

“But you don't have a real choice do you?” Sesshomaru said letting go of her. “You don't get the choice of where you will go do you.”

“No, I don't, I am rejected for what I am… I am not judged I am flat out rejected. Even when demons die they get a choice you know. But if you have the blood of a devil in you, you will never be accepted… Not anywhere. Not even hell it's self…there is a problem with that too though…” Kagome whispered. “I have to be the princess of hell.”

“I see…” Sesshomaru said. “We can get you to your home anytime then… I… I am sorry, that I hurt you with out knowing your story. I should not have…”

Kagome hugged him and cried on his chest. “I didn't want to remember!”

“I am sorry.” Sesshomaru said and lifted her with a hand on her back. She looked at him with a horrified look on her, she slowly began to change. Her hair became long and white, only a few strands of black shown through. She became tan and her nails and hair grew long, her lips turn bright red and the flames danced in her eyes just like in his vision. “My god…” He murmured. “You are gorgeous…”

“No I'm not!” She cried burying her face in his chest again. “I have been told all of my life I was hideous like this, even when I was little… I remember… Even Sota said so…”

“He must have been teasing like children often do.” Sesshomaru said. “We can go now… To my home in your time… You do not have to perform the spell, I just needed you to be able to understand the words so you would be able to travel… I will teach you in your time where no demons will interrupt it.”

“Ok…” Kagome said in his chest. “You are so kind to me…sometimes…”

Sesshomaru laughed and shook his head. He stood with her in his arms. “Hold on to me tightly.” He said and began to chant in a language that only they knew. A white glow surrounded them and Kagome could feel the same floating sensation she got whenever she time traveled. “We are here…”

“You travel faster this way…” She muttered and looked up at his smiling almost human face. “You turn into a human when you come here?”

“No, I develop the characteristics of a human but I will never be human.” He sat her down and frowned. “You still look like your… other self…”

“Oh…” Kagome moved her hair and rubbed her mid back. On her back was a large bright red birthmark at least the size of Sesshomarus' thumb. Kagome quickly changed back into her human self and smiled as best she could. “Better?”

“I won't say that, but human, yes…” Sesshomaru walked away from her and spread his arms wide. “Welcome to my home! This home happens to be in the same city your cousin lives in, I have clothes already bought and in your room which is… This way…” He said leading her up the stairs and into a large room with a canopy bed. Everything was white except for the wood in the room, which was deep cherry red. “Go ahead get dressed and go on out… I have some business to take care of with Shigura. Mai has probably gone crazy by now…Poor woman…” Sesshomaru said leaving the room and shutting the door behind of him.

“He likes that woman… How cute!” Kagome said to herself, quietly this time. She looked around for a moment and found the clothes. She tool out a pair of black pants and a black dress shirt. She dressed quickly and found a pair of shoes next to her door. She ran down stairs and put the shoes on quickly, finding a map by the front door with a note for her on it.

Take this, it saidyou might get lost, Kagome.

She grinned and slipped it into her pocket. Despite the incident that had happened earlier she still liked Sesshomaru and thought he was very nice. She could understand why he was upset and angry but what she didn't understand was how she was too, and with herself, not him.
“Oh well,” She said and was off.

***** W/ Shigura and co.*****

“La, lala…” Shigura sung. “High school girls…”

“Shigura,” Yuki said. “You have a visitor…”

“Aha, who could it be…bring them in…” He said happily until Sesshomaru stepped out of the hall. “M….Mr. S-s-Sessho….” He stuttered. “What are you doing back so soon…”

“I haven't been here for years Shigura, you know this. Mai says you have been a pain… I will be taking over her duties and giving her a bit of a break until further notice… By the way, didn't she warn you, I'm back, and this city is now my permanent home… I'm sure my apprentice is looking forward to reading your manuscripts, it is they, who get to decide if they are published or not.”

“Well, is it a boy, or a girl,”

“What is it to you, my business is my business and not yours, stay out of it.” Sesshomaru smirked. “A shame I can't say the same for you.”

“well, I… I'm almost done with the new manuscript… I need about another two weeks…”

“Fine, if I don't have it by then you're done with writing forever.” Sesshomaru bowed and turned around. “I'll show myself out if it's all the same to you.” And with that he was gone.

Shigura took a breath of relief. “That man is a real jerk. I'm glad Tohru isn't here to have seen that…”

“I am…” Tohru said coming down the stairs. “I heard him from my room… I had to come back early because I started to feel sick… I'm ok now though…”

“Are you sure?” Yuki asked. “If you are still feeling ill then you should go lay back down.”

“No, I'm ok really, I just have the feeling someone I know is going to show up here… Someone I haven't seen in along time…”

“Why is our little Tohru Prophetic?” Shigura said laughing. “Go lay down, you must have the jitters.”

“If you think so…” Tohru said and went back up the stairs.

“Well, I'm going out for a little while…” Yuki said. “I'm going to get some medicine for Tohru just incase she really is sick.”

“Get some bottles of water while you are out.” Kyo called.

“You can get them yourself.” Yuki said and left.

“Looks like I'm going out too Shigura. I'll be back in a little while.”

“Bye Kyo…”

***** W/ Kagome*****

“Lets see… Man I'm thirsty… Good thing Sesshomaru left some money in the map…” She said to herself entering a store and grabbing a drink. She got in line and heard two boys behind of her fussing.

“Shut up Kyo, your voice bothers me…” The first one said.

“Stupid rat!, If Tohru wasn't your friend Yuki I would…” The one identified as Kyo somehow or another slipped and fell forwards landing on Kagome.
He and Yuki stared in horror waiting for something to change, but nothing happened.

“I don't mean to be rude.” Kagome said all to sweetly. “But could you by chance, GET OFF OF ME!”

“Sorry, sheesh.” Kyo said pushing himself up. “Had I saw you I would have tried to avoid falling on you”

“Kyo, be nice…” The one known as Yuki said. “Are you new to this part of the city, I don't think I've seen you before.”

“Yes,” Kagome smiled. “I just moved back to Japan really. I had an apprenticeship. But my family was killed when I was away so now I have come to find my cousin and tell her the bad news,”

“I'm sorry, how long ago did it happen.” Yuki asked.

“Maybe… A week… Something like that.”

“It wasn't the Tokyo, Sunset Shrine murder was it. A woman and to males were found dead but the daughter was no where to be found.”

“Yeah, that was my family… I didn't know it was on the news though… Oh, how rude of me.” She said walking up to the counter. “Higurashi Kagome, it's nice to meet you.”

“Sohma Yuki and this is Kyo.” He said. “Who is your cousin might I ask, she may be in school with us.”

“Honda Tohru. Do you know her?”

“Yes… She's living with us… About five two, light brown/red hair and blue eyes? A little ditzy, and her mother was Kyoko?”

“Yeah…Wow, I've been gone to long…” Kagome said. “Do you think you could take me to her?”

“why yes of course.”

“Na' man, I don't like this one's aura…” Kyo said.

“I could say the same about you.” Kagome said. “Plus the way you look, orange hair and orange eyes… Cat, you look just like a cat.”

“What!”

“Look, I just want to see my cousin. The last time I heard from her was about two years ago when her mother died. She said it was her fault and I want to see if she is ok,”

Kyo and Yuki paid for their things and left with Kagome following. They walked for a while before they turned off the road and began to walk down a back road.
Soon after they arrived at a house, Tohru was outside beating out rugs.

“Tohru,” Yuki said, “What are you doing up.”

She didn't here him, she was to busy staring at her cousin.

“Kagome…” She muttered and ran up to them. “Kagome!”

Kagome hugged Tohru tightly until Tohrus' hands almost brushed across her mid back. Kagome had every so slightly shoved her away at that point, of course Yuki and Kyo still noticed and looked questioningly.

“It's a personal problem?” She said shrugging.

Tohru also gave her a questioning look until she realized what she meant and gasped. “Oh my god, I am so sorry, I didn't did I?”

“No…” Kagome said and smiled. “Oh yeah, I'm going to your school this year…”

“Really!” Tohru said and grinned. “That's great, you are my year right?”

“yeah, I'm surprised I passes all of my exams the past few years with how often I was `sick'.”

“Please, you were born knowing almost everything in English and history, even top in P.E. and in Kendo club.” Tohru said. “You were perfect in everything but math.”

“I didn't want to be.” Kagome said. “I didn't want to be good at anything. I would have rather been bad at everything. I would have been great to see how angry my father would be.”

“NO!” Tohru said. “You saw the accident he got Sotas' dad in, his car was mangled and twisted around a pole. They said he wouldn't have had a chance of surviving that.”

“True..” Kagome frowned.

“Would it be ok for me to ask, what the hell are you two talking about?!” Kyo shouted. “I mean you just got here a little bit ago and now you are both talking in some sort of code.”

“I would tell you Kyo, really. But this isn't my family curse. Though it's not really a curse it's heritage more than anything.”

“Might as well be a curse.” Kagome mumbled and leaned back on a tree. “Tohru, want to do something later?”

“My, what have we here, a new friend, please introduce me.” Shigura said walking up. “Are you friends with Tohru?”

“Tohru, please don't tell me you live with this idiot…” Kagome said. “I can tell just by looking at him, he is just like Miroku…”

“Oh I am hurt…”

“Yeah you should be.” Kagome said standing up and tripping over a rock landing on Kyo. “Revenge!!!” She said loudly and got up.

“Looks like clumsiness runs in the family,” Kyo muttered and got up.

Shigura was standing wide-eyed at what had happened. “Nothing happened. Kyo didn't transform…”

“I know…” Tohru said astonished. “Kyo… do you…”

“Our curse happens to be we transform into the animals of the Chinese zodiac…” Yuki said to Kagome. “But only when hugged by a member of the opposite sex. That also includes bumping, and falling on, so we are just a little shocked.”

“Understandable…I heard stranger if it's all the same. My old friend had dog-ears on top of his head and I used to cart around a cute little kitsune boy named Shippo… He died…”

“Oh… I'm sorry,” Shigura said embracing Kagome and being immediately pushed away because of where his hands almost touched. “What, it was just a hug…”

“You can't touch her back… it's a personal problem…” Kyo said mocking her.

“I'm going to unleash hell on you!” Kagome said.

“Maybe we should call Hotori if you have a problem… I think I'll do that.” Shigura said and left before anyone noticed.

“KAGOME!” Tohru yelled. Everyone stared, for the first time sense they had known Tohru she had yelled. “Your mother may be dead, but you know what she said about unleashing that. You could kill someone, you could kill yourself.”

Kagome sighed and nodded. “I've just been around InuYasha too long…Sorry…” She said and frowned.

“So, where are you staying?” Tohru asked.

“With Sesshomaru.”

“Mr. Sessho… You are staying with Shiguras' publisher…” Yuki asked.

“I've known him for three years, who else would I stay with…” Kagome said and smiled. “He's nice when you get to know him, until then… He's an ass.”

“Kagome… Tell me, tomorrow, when we get a chance to be alone… How did you come back…”

“I can tell you that now, the same as the old way, the well just wasn't a host as it was before.”

“Tell me, Kyo. Are you lost?”

“yeah, kind of…”

“Great news everyone!” Shigura called from the house. “Hotori is coming, he's bring Momiji and Akito…”

Horror came across Yukis' face. “I'm going to the garden…” He said.

“Oh… I'll be right back…” Tohru said and ran off after him.

“So what's wrong with your back?” Kyo asked and watched her begin to climb a tree. “You not acting like there's anything wrong with it.”

“There isn't physically.” She said hanging upside down from a branch holding up the front of her shirt. “You can go look if you want.”

He walked around to the other side of her and shook his head. “Are you embarrassed over a birthmark.” He said running his fingers across it just as Tohru and Yuki were coming back.
Kagome had flipped angrily out of the tree and ran off into the woods.

“What the hell is her problem, she said I could see.” Kyo crossed his arms.

“Yes, but see that mark and touching that mark are two different things entirely… You can't touch her there, it makes her change into something she doesn't like.” Tohru said sadly.

“And what could that be?” Kyo said. “Can't be any worse than what we are.”

“It is when your whole life you have been an outcast to life it's self. She doesn't get a choice, she has to go to hell. She has to…”

“I have to sit down there and help my father rule over the dead… That's what it means to be the daughter of a devil.” Kagome said coming out of the bushes. “I do mean that literally.”

“Maybe we should go in for some tea…” Tohru said. “Kagome you should tell them what is going on if you are going to come to our school… The Yuki fan club girls are libel to touch that spot and change you right in the middle of class or something.”

Kagome nodded and followed them down to the house, when they got inside and the tea was done is when she began her story, only half way through though, visitors showed up.

“Hello, Hotori, Momiji!” Tohru exclaimed, leaving the last person out for only a moment. “Hello, Akito-sama, I am glad you were well enough to day to get out of the house.” She continued smiling.

“Ok,” Hotori said. “Where is the one you wanted me to look at Shi. Oh and this is your personal favor of the year.”

“Darn… Oh well, she's the dark haired on sitting at the table. Apparently something is wrong with her back, or something.”

“There is nothing wrong with my back!” Kagome said angrily. “I just don't like people touching it.”

“There really isn't anything wrong with her…” Tohru said.

“It's always good to be safe.” Hotori said. “What is your name?”

“Kagome,” She said.

“Well lay flat on the floor, Kagome.” He said and lifted the back of her shirt.

“Don't touch my birthmark.” She hissed.

“I have to, to make sure your vertebras are all aligned correctly.” He said becoming slightly annoyed.

“Damn it, don't touch me then.” Kagome struggled a little.

“Someone hold her still.” Hotori said. Shigura and Momiji held her as still as they could until his hands reached her birthmark, that's when she began to freak and try to get out of their grasps. But she couldn't.

She could feel herself changing. “TOHRU!” There was a slight change in her voice, it sounded like fear and disgust. “You better help me get out of here quickly!”

“I can't! I don't know how I can…” Tohru said in a panic rush.

Kagome had stilled and Hotori, Momiji and Shigura all stood and backed away slowly. Lying on the floor silently from exhaustion was the white haired Kagome with the crimson lips. Even Akito was staring in awe at this point.

“Whom is she staying with? It's almost dark… I'll tell they she wants to spend the night and catch up with Tohru. It's not like you have school tomorrow anyhow…” Shigura said.

“You might not want to do that…” Yuki said. “She's staying with Mr. Sessho…Apparently they are old friends from the…”

“Damn it!” They heard her mumble and struggle to get up. When she did she flipped her white and black hair our of her face. “I told you not to touch my birthmark!” She reached back and touched it, nothing happened.

“Kagome, what's wrong?” Tohru asked. “Something is wrong…”

Horror swept over her face. “I… I can't change back, I know I haven't done it to many times, it doesn't use my energy…I hope I'm not stuck this way… I don't want to look like this.”

“So, she can change, you have been hiding things from us Tohru,” Akito said. “I have been tolerant, but anything else like this and your memory I gone.”

Kagomes' dark face turned rose red as a sign of her anger. “You need to be quiet, my family history has nothing to do with her…” Her voice was a low feminine hiss. “I will not tolerate you being even in the least bit cruel to my family.”

“Little girl… You do not know what it is like to be cursed as we are, to erase her memory and yours now would merely be an act of self-preservation. Besides what would it matter, you could go and live with mommy again…” He noticed Yuki and Kyo looking at each other and a sad look on every one, but Momiji and Hotoris', face. “What is it now!” Akito said standing up.

“My mother is dead!” Kagome hissed again. “You are right I don't know what it's like to be cursed as you are, but you don't know what it's like to be cursed as I am… I am sure as you can tell; I am not a normal human… But I didn't want to be this way; I would have done anything to be normal. But it will never happen. The stupid jewel is in my body again and my family is dead; all of them were killed.”

“You have a string of bad luck and you are a freak, you call that a curse.” Akito said smirking triumphantly.

“No!” Tohru cut in. “That is not it! She is not a freak! She is the daughter of the devil, literally. And bad things do happen to her but that's because her father has already decided her destiny.”

“All I wanted was to be human… I wanted to live a normal life, not having to worry about opening the gates of hell and unleashing it on someone…I wanted to be like everyone else, when they fell there mothers would clean there cuts and bandage them, I never got cuts and I rarely got sick…” Kagome whispered. “I was not normal and the kids at school knew so they made fun of me for my white hair, they all thought it dyed, but they still laughed. So one day, I created an illusion similar to this form and began to hold myself back as best I could…”

“Kagome,” Sesshomaru said coming in and entering the living room. “One of them changed you?” She nodded. “You should go ahead and tell them the whole story… I'm sure even with their curse it will not be nearly as bad as yours…”

Kagome nodded again and began to tell the story. She told them everything from beginning to end and was crying into Sesshomarus' chest by the time she was done.

“So it was your family in the Tokyo Sunset shrine…” Hotori said. “A young boy and older male and a woman… They said on the news that the daughter was missing and was likely killed.”

“None of this seems possible…” Akito said. “How can you have come from the past Sesshomaru? And how could this girl time travel and be the daughter of the devil? I think you are all lunatics.”

“Kagome…” Sesshomaru whispered to her. “It's late, lets go home… You can come back tomorrow.” He lifted her in his arms and began to walk to the door.

“Where are you going?” Akito growled. “You can't leave, I'm not done talking to you!”

“We are going home, if you are only going to insult us then we should leave.” Sesshomaru turned a cold eye to him. “Goodnight.”

They followed Sesshomaru out side and stared in awe at the white clouds that surrounded him and lifted him into the air as he dropped his human disguise.

“Bye Sesshomaru!!!” Tohru called happily and went back in.

“What is he?” Momiji said. “He is as beautiful as the zodiac members.”

“Well,” Hotori said. “They didn't say, all Kagome told us was that he was InuYashas' older brother and InuYasha was a half demon so I suppose that Sesshomaru is a full demon…”

“A DEMON!” Every one except Tohru said.

“Yes, Sesshomaru is a demon.” She said and smiled. “I remember the first time Kagome told me about him, it was right before my mother was killed. She spoke highly of him and said if he was the most beautiful man she had ever laid her eyes on.”

As they all went in, Akito continued to stand on the porch and stare off in the direction Sesshomaru had flown. She is different…. He thought following the others in.

*****W/ Sessho & Kagome*****

“Goodnight…” Sesshomaru said laying her in the bed and wiping the hair from her face. “Ashiteru…little one…”

Sesshomarus' words echoed through Kagomes' head as she slept. Visions of her real father flooded her mind and a caring face followed. Visions of her real father and mother sitting side-by-side, laughing together, kissing and walking hand in hand. She seemed so happy. Then her real father was gone. He disappeared into a blue light coming from the well house. Then there was another man, her rubbed her mothers belly and smiled, this was her adoptive father… There was another vision, after Sota was born, her mother and `father' were fighting and he ran from the house blood red. A smaller version of her ran after him, but he smacked her and threw her on the ground. Then she saw his car twisted around a pole blood leaked through the car door and her real father stood on the street corner, frowning and shaking his head. She heard him whisper something and walk away. “You should not have touched her… You should not have hit her…not my daughter…”
There was a last vision, a moonlit version of her father standing over her smiling, pushing locks of her white hair out of her face…. “Ashiteru…Little one” He whispered.

Kagome woke, her heart was pounding in her breast and she was shinning with a cold sweat. “That, that can't be true… He put images into my head… It had to be that… Images, father is trying to brain wash me…” She stood and looked out the window, it was still dark. She frowned and looked at a lock; it was still white like a spiders' silk. “Why, why can't things just be normal for me…”

“Kagome…” Sesshomaru said coming into her room quietly. “Are you ok… I heard you get up…”

“I am alright… Just… a bad dream…I don't know if I can stand my hair being this color for much longer…” She mumbled and frowned more. “Sesshomaru…Would I be made fun of, do you think, if I went to school looking like I do?”

“At this point, probably not…But you said you create you illusion… Why do you have to touch your back to change?”

“That was the point from where it started…that's why when I changed it was going from the ends of my hair to the roots… My point from the illusion was based off of my birthmark so that was the point… Maybe it just ran out…I suppose that can happen…”

“It can, it's happened to me with this one… I say, you try and go around as your natural self and see how people acted… If you don't like it, then create another illusion.” Sesshomaru sat on the edge of her bed. “Dawn is in about fifteen minutes… Don't bother going back to sleep, I'm going to teach you the time travel spell… But remember. Do not change your past… You could make things even worse.”

“Alright…” Kagome said and forced a smile. “When do we start?”

“Right now!” Sesshomaru stood and walked up to her. “It's very simple. You just surround yourself with the same energy that you used to defeat Naraku and pick one person from the past. Focus on them and you will be drained of all your energy. Do not focus on them; focus on their name and what time period they are in. If you focus on them not only will you lose all of your energy, you will trade places with them.” He said. “Ok, we're done.”

Kagome stood dumb founded. “Ok… Then why were you going to make me learn the demon language? I understand the training but the demon language doesn't seem to have a place…”

“It doesn't…” Sesshomaru said and shrugged. “But it does in other spells…”

“Oh…” Kagome said and nodded.

The morning pasted quickly after that. Later in the after noon Kagome walked over to where Tohru was living and She, Tohru, Yuki and Kyo went out for lunch.
Tohru explained how the school they went to worked and told her about Yukis' fan club.

“Yuki has a fan club!” Kagome laughed. “I'm sorry, but that is hilarious… “

“Tohru?” A quiet voice said.

Tohru turned around and smiled. “Hello, Hana… Where's Arisa?”

“She has a cold… Who is this?” She said looking at Kagome. “I'm getting strange electric signals from her…”

“This is my cousin Kagome…”

“The Sunset shrine murders…”She said and her eyes widened. “Your signals have weakened… Can it be, that you can control them…”

“I would prefer not talk about my late family.” Kagome said and turned around. “So, you are one of Tohru Chan's friends. That's nice to hear… You have a honest aura…”

“Great!” Kyo blurted out. “Battle of the psychics!” He turned in his seat and crossed his arms.

“I am not psychic Kyo.” Kagome said. “Reading energies and reading minds are two different things.”

“Very different things.” Hana repeated.

“We were getting ready to go to the park, want to come?” Tohru asked.

“No, I can't… I just brought Megumi to get something to eat.”

“Hello…” A little boy say stepping out from behind of Hana. “It's a pleasure to meet you… Hello Tohru…”

“Hello, Megumi…” Tohru said and smiled. “I'm sorry we couldn't stay longer… We were getting ready to leave.”

“That's ok… You come and visit soon.” He said and smiled slightly.

“I will.” Tohru said getting up, everyone followed suit. “See you later!” And with that they all left.

“That girl with Tohru.” Megumi said. “Doesn't look human.”

“I know…” Hana said and sat down.

** ** ** ** ** ** ** * **** *** ** **** **

“Wow!” Kagome gasped. “It's so much larger than the one back home. I do prefer the woods though…”

“Tohru!” Momiji said running up to her. “HI!!!” He looked at the others. “Hello Yuki, Hello Kyo, Hello Kagome! You look very pretty like that!”

“What grade are you in kid?” Kagome said and smiled.

“My second year of high school.” He said happily.

“You don't look it… Most people your age don't look like cute little kids.” Kagome said and grinned when he blushed.

“Yuki, does she know?” Momiji asked.

“Yes Momiji. She knows…” Yuki said and smiled.

“YAY!!!”

“It won't work!” Kyo said grabbing him by the hair. “She can't transform you. Around her you are like every other human on the planet.”

“Really!” He said and broke away from Kyo and tackled Kagome anyhow. “Hey, I really can't! Neat!!!”

“Momiji,” Tohru said. “Your not here alone are you?”

“No, Hotori is here too.” He said getting up and pointing at Hotori who was standing dumb struck at the events that played out in front of him. “Isn't it great!!!” Momiji called to him. “We can hug her all we want and won't change!”

Hotori regained his composure and walked towards them. “You shouldn't just jump on people like that Momiji. They may not like it…”

“It's alright…” Kagome said standing brushing herself off.

“I see you have not changed back…”

“Thank you Mr. Obvious… No I haven't changed back…my illusions time was worn out…” She said and smiled down at Momiji. “You are adorable…”

Momiji blushed again.

“Well…” Hotori said and smiled slightly at them all. “You all seem to be adjusting well having Kagome here… That's good… Akito said he would see how things go before deciding if he will have Kagomes' memory erased.”

“I hope he doesn't have my memory erased… Who ever does it will just get hurt…” Kagome said.

Yuki and Kyo gave each other looks.

“He would regret having to erase your memories I am sure.” Hotori said and turned to her. “May I ask? Do you know why we don't transform when hugged by you? I am sure you are female… unless you are like Ritsu and just like to dress like a girl…”

“I assure you,” Kagome said. “I am all female… If you would like proof…”

“Kagome!!!” Tohru said slightly astonished. “You wouldn't!”

“After bathing for a few years with a peeping tom and a demon always sitting in a tree near the spring I am pretty sure I can handle proving that I am indeed a female.” Kagome smiled at her cousin and shook her head. “You are probably right though, I wouldn't…”

Tohru sighed and shook her head. “I don't think it's safe to bring you out in public.” She said. “Maybe we should lock you up in a basement somewhere.”

Kagome grinned and grabbed her. “You are one to talk space case…only, if we locked you in a basement you would enjoy it and think of ways to make it pretty.”

“Not when I am around you…” Tohru looked at the others. “School starts back in a week and four days right? Do you have a uniform yet Kagome?”

“I don't know, I need to ask Sesshomaru…”

“No, you do not have a uniform yet.” Sesshomaru said walking up behind them.

“HOLY GOD!!!!” Kagome said and jumped. “You are everywhere aren't you?”

“Teleportation, same principle as time traveling…” He said and looked down at her. “That isn't what I came to tell you though… I was coming to ask if you wanted a male or female uniform… After all those years of the short skirt you used to wear I wouldn't be surprised if you said female… But then those years of traveling with a pervert and a peeping InuYasha I also wouldn't be surprised if you told me you wanted a male uniform…”

“Um…. A male one…Maybe… That will work… I probably would feel a little exposed in one of the girl uniforms… Cause I don't like long skirts but her school s' short skirts are too short….” Kagome said thinking.

“Male it is…” Sesshomaru said and bowed. “Good day to you all.” And with that he disappeared.

Hotori looked to Momiji and nodded his head in another direction. “I am sorry but it is time for us to leave. We will be sure to visit you…”

“Bye!” Tohru said happily.

“Tohru?” Kagome asked. “Does Momiji remind you of a human version of Shippo to you…I described him for you enough times what do you think…” She was quiet when she asked this and was almost at the point of tears. “They look alike too…”

“He does… You know Momiji probably likes being able to hug someone who is not part of the zodiac… God you have horrible mood swings…” Tohru said and smiled. “Just like your mother…”

“Ok… Maybe we should go do something now.”

“What would you like to do?” Yuki asked. “There isn't much to do around her but I'm sure we could find something to amuse you.”

“I can't think O f anything….” Kagome said and frowned. “One of you come up with something…”

“Ok…” Tohru said.

“Why don't we just go back home…” Kyo said crossing his arms.

“We wouldn't be able to get in. Shigura has the only house key and he is at the estate.” Yuki said. “I'll have to go and have copies made again.”

“Ok… So we'll just have to go and get it!” Kyo said and began to walk away from them.

Tohru shrugged and followed him along with Yuki. Kagome sighed and ran up next to her cousin and smiled a fake smile.

“Kagome what's wrong?” Tohru asked quietly. “I know that fake smile so don't give me that!”

“The estate is where Akito lives isn't it.” She asked “He makes me uncomfortable and the way he stared when I changed into this…His expression wasn't like any I had seen… I saw the Shock but then there was something else…”

“Oh…” Yuki said. “I doubt you will see him… He doesn't come out of his room much… When he does it's just to be out in the sun, he won't say anything to you…”

“Are you sure?” Kagome asked fidgeting slightly. “What happens to me when I am nervous…”

“What happens…” Yuki asked.

“I um…you know what never mind…don't worry about…” She forced another smile and shook her head as they continued to walk. She watch as Yuki took Tohrus' hand and Kyo slowed down and took the other. `She's so lucky…' Kagome thought. `She has two people who would obviously do anything for her… I have Sesshomaru but he's like a father… Come to think of it…I have never really had anyone other than family care for me as much as they care for her…'

Yuki looked back at Kagome whose eyes were glazed over. `She must be thinking…the look on her face is so sad though…it looks almost like she wants to cry.' He looked over at Tohru and let go of her hand.; she looked at him and smiled.
Yuki stopped and waited for Kagome to catch up to him. “Kagome, are you alright?”

“Huh?” She said looking up at him. “I'm fine…” She said quietly. “why do you ask?”

“No reason…” He said and walked next to her the rest of the way to the Sohoma estate.
