Chapter Eight
Kagome’s Changes
Kagome and Miroku were happy to see the ground again. Gratefully stepping out of the helicopter, He sighed in relief. “Its good to see the ground again. Even with all of the flying that we did on Kirara, the ground looks all the much sweeter than before. Kagome nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, I’ve never been in a helicopter, so I wanted to get on the ground as soon as possible.“ Miroku got a devious look in his eyes and waked silently behind Kagome. Squealing as Miroku grabbed her around the waist, she looked at him questioningly. “What are you doing?” she asked, a bit afraid of what he was going to do.
Miroku grinned. “This.” He laughed deviously internally, and he smirked widely.Kagome laughed as Miroku twirled her around, her violet eyes flashing in delight. “ROOOKU!!! Put me down!! I’m getting dizzy!!” Miroku laughed and set the fledgling vampire miko down, grinning as he watched her tip to the side.
“You weren’t kidding Kagome-sama.” he said, watching her tip over a bit.
Kagome laughed. “Nope!! And I’m still really dizzy too.” She said softly, leaning against him. Shippo grinned from his spot in a tree and he jumped down, barreling into the two.
“You know Shippo, you’re not as light as you used to be.” Miroku said, his head spinning a bit. Kagome laughed, and smiled at the two..
“Yeah right! To you maybe Roku.” Miroku groaned. ‘I think that Kagome-sama has forgotten that I’m not a vampire or youkai like Shippo and herself.’
“We’re not all vampires or demons Kagome-sama.” Kagome laughed.
“Oh…right.” she said sheepishly. I’m going to get something to eat, BYE FOR NOW!!” She said, running to her room with a grin. “I have some chocolate in my backpack…..” she thought, drooling a bit. But as she noticed the blood packet on the table, she bared her fangs quickly and gabbed it, drinking it down easily, to her surprise. “Wh-what? I never thought I’d see the day…” She began, a bit shocked that she had emptied the blood packet.“Ah, so you listen unlike Police Girl.” Kagome blinked. ‘What? What’s he doing here? I really must be out of it…I didn’t even notice his aura!’
“Alucard? What are you doing here?” He grinned a bit, and Kagome fought the urge to shudder.
“Was it good little miko?” Kagome nodded, and her eyes widened a bit as she noticed the goblet of blood wine in his hand. “Want some?” She nodded and he held it to her lips, and Kagome took a large sip.
“Mmmm.” She murmured, and she really didn’t notice the trail of blood flowing down from her lip, but she was shocked as Alucard tilted her head to the side and closed the distance between them, running his tongue over her lips, suckling at them, savoring the coppery sweet taste of the blood and her own unique taste. Pulling away with a slight glazed look in his eyes, Kagome gasped, and blushed a bright red.
“Uh…I better go and make sure Roku isn’t getting into trouble…” she said nervously, and she grabbed her quiver of silver tipped arrows on the way out.
Alucard’s eyes flashed in delight. “Hmm…I might’ve scared you off for now, but now that I’ve gotten a taste, I’ll keep coming back for more.” he said, fading into the shadows.
Kagome gasped as she ran into Miroku, and he raised a brow at her blush. “What’s gotten under your skin so deliciously Kagome-sama?” She sighed softly.
“Its that damned Alucard…he confuses the hell out of me.” He grinned and Shippo laughed, and hugged her tightly.
“Hey momma, where’s the cookies?” she blinked, kind of surprised at this question. ’Um…I don’t think I have any…’ she thought to herself. ‘Didn’t I eat the last?’
“Umm…I have chocolate if that’s okay with you.” he nodded and grinned as she gave him the bar of dark chocolate.
“Arigato momma!!” Kagome laughed and nodded her head.
“Yeah Ship, no problem.” Her eyes widened largely as he gobbled the chocolate down, and Kagome could only look at him wide eyed. “Hey Ship, why don’t you go and bug Alucard?” Shippo grinned a bit evilly at this.
“OKAY MOMMA!!!” he said happily, and both Kagome and Miroku smirked widely.
“That’s evil Kagome-sama.” Kagome grinned, flashing her fangs at him in delight.
“Of course it is, and he’ll do it.” she said laughing, and Miroku nodded, rubbing his hands together in glee.
“Why are you here?” Shippo grinned at the tall vampire. Humming, he lifted his paw and let some of his foxfire dance just above his fingers.
“I’m bored, and you’re interesting. I thought that I could find something to do cause interesting things happen around you.” Alucard watched Shippo with amusement. He wasn’t that surprised that he could do things that others couldn’t, after all, he was a demon.
“What else can you do kit?” he asked, interested in what the fox kit could actually do. Shippo grinned and jumped up, transforming into a perfect copy of Miroku with a pop and a puff of smoke. He had learned to hide his tail after all this time, and Alucard watched him with amusement. “Interesting…” He chuckled as he was faced with himself, and he was a bit surprised that he had mirrored most of his movements.
“Heh…good isn’t it?” Shippo said, giving Alucard a fanged smile. Alucard raised an eyebrow and smirked, and he chuckled darkly as Shippo mirrored it. “It’s a good copy, I’ll give you that.”
Kagome laughed and tackled the transformed Shippo, noticing his aura right away. “Shippo-chan!!” she cried happily, and she giggled as he transformed back with a pout. “Awww…I was going to turn into you next momma!” he said, and Kagome laughed. “Poor thing…you can do it later.” he pouted and Kagome smiled at him, one fang hanging out of her mouth oddly.
Shippo grinned widely as he saw a familiar staff. “MIROKU!!” he cried out happily, and Miroku groaned a bit as he was tackled to the ground. ”Hey Miroku, wanna see my tops? I created a new one….oh yeah, I created a new sealing stone too!!” he said very fast, and Miroku looked at him warily.
“Kagome-sama, how much sugar did Shippo actually have?” he asked, watching Shippo bounce around.
Kagome sighed. “Not much, but It really doesn’t take much to make him more hyper than he gets…” she said and smirked as Shippo leaned on Alucard’s shoulders, chattering away. Aren’t you going to get your son little miko? Kagome laughed and shook here head. “Nope! Hey Shippo, have fun! Oh, and Alucard, if he’s hurt…you’ll really see what I can do.” She said dangerously, and she walked off with Miroku, talking about his latest adventures. Alucard scoffed, and he laughed internally.
“Are you going to follow me all day?” Alucard asked, hoping that it wasn’t the case.
Shippo grinned at him. “Yep…or until I get bored…but then I’ll just find something else to do.”
Cursing Kagome mentally, he sighed and closed his eyes, and Shippo’s random chattering continued on.
He really didn’t know what was wrong with him. Normally he would just kill whatever was annoying him unless it was Anderson, Seras, or Integra, but Kagome; she was twisting his life into something unrecognizable now. Who is she…really? he thought idly, and he chuckled, surprising Shippo. “What’s so funny?”
Alucard smirked. “Nothing, just something that I thought of.”
“Oh. Okay then.” Shippo said and he continued his long tale.
“Park? Isn’t that the open area for relaxing?” he asked, thinking back to what she told him before about them.
Kagome nodded, smiling. “Yep, and its nice because its quieter than the city, you can get away from all the hustle and bustle of the boring life.” She said, and she laughed a bit. “Not that its boring around here, its just that I love the beauty of the parks. I guess its one reason I like Kaede’s village and Sesshoumaru’s castle so much.” she grinned a bit as she remembered playing with Rin-chan and Shippo in the gardens with Sesshoumaru keeping an eye on them.
“I see what you mean. It would get annoying being around all of these lights and sounds everyday. It sounds like a good idea.” Kagome grinned and grabbed his arm, almost dragging him out the door. “Ack! Kagome-sama, not too hard! You’re going to pull my arm off!!”
Kagome laughed and smirked at him. “What’s the matter Roku? Can’t handle it?” she said teasingly, and Miroku pouted at her.
“That’s just mean Kagome-sama.” Kagome smirked at him and he sighed. “Sugoi.. Its just like back home…just different.”
Nodding, she smile and sat down on the bench next to Miroku. “Yeah, It can be pretty peaceful here.” She sighed and leaned against Miroku. “Hey niisan, where do you want to go next?” she gasped as she realized what she said. “Ah! G-gomen Roku.”
Miroku laughed as he glanced down at her. “Its not a problem imouto, I’ve thought of you as a younger sister for a while now.” Kagome smiled beautifully, and she stiffened quickly, screaming out in pain. “Kagome-chan!” Miroku cried out, catching her as she fell.
Opening her eyes weakly, Kagome gripped his arm tightly. “R-Roku-niisan….s-something’s wrong!” she hissed in pain, and as she fell into the dark abyss of unconsciousness, she weakly called out to Alucard.
‘Alucard…I-I…’HELP!!’ Kagome cried out helplessly.
Kitsune? Kagome thought confusedly as she caught glimpse of a black kitsune. What’s going on? Kaogme thought, and all she could feel was a soothing warmth.
Miroku was a bit surprised to find Alucard standing under the nearest tree. “Alucard?” Miroku asked questioningly, and Alucard appeared beside him silently, taking the now bloody and ice cold Kagome into his arms, and he motioned for him to follow.
‘Just what in the name of Kami is going on? I sense a kitsune spirit…but why?’
“She’s found her familiar.” He stated simply, and Miroku’s eyes widened considerably.
“So that’s why I sense a kitsune spirit…it seems to be protecting Kagome-sama.” He jumped as he felt something wrap around his wrist. “Wh-what? She has a tail!” the silky black appendage twitched, and Miroku was a bit shocked to find out that she had three other silver tipped tails, and that they were wagging slightly with the sound of their talking.
Alucard chuckled, noticing the kitsune ears on top of her head. “She has fox ears as well.”
Seras glanced at Kagome, grinning a bit as she noticed how her ears were twitching with all of the familiar voices in the room. Not being able to resist scratching behind them, she giggled as she heard a loud purring coming from her friend. “Shippo’s coming.” Miroku said softly, and they were greeted by an extremely worried kitsune.
“Is momma alright Miroku?” he asked quietly and he launched himself at the monk.
Miroku nodded. “Yes, Kagome-sama is alright Shippo, she’s just going through some changes.”
Shippo scratched his head. “How come I smell momma’s blood?” he paused as he noticed the kitsune ears and tail that she was now sporting. “Nani? Wait…what’s going on? Momma‘s part kitsune too?” he asked a bit confused about the whole thing.
This time, it was Seras that answered him. “Kagome found her familiar…I guess it has to do with the fact that she’s drinking blood voluntarily…” She shuddered slightly, and hoped no one noticed. “Sure, she drank blood, but she only did when it was absolutely necessary. The last time she refused to drink, she became so crazed by her hunger, she had killed three children to satisfy herself.
Alucard noticed Seras’ disgust and smirked. Yes, you could find your true power if you actually listened Police Girl. The little miko here knows how to listen and has unlocked some of her power. He thought amusedly. It would be fun when she learns how to phase through objects.
“Wh…aaat?” Shippo asked, not really grasping what was going on. Sure, he has heard of familiars, but has he seen one, nope. That would be a definite NO.
Miroku smiled. “It’s a spirit that she has bonded with, something that is quite rare indeed. Its something that she has had within her this whole time, but is hardly ever visible. Well, that’s what the stories say at least. Its quite interesting, because as long as I’ve known her, I wondered why she wasn’t a kitsune instead of a human.”
Shippo cocked his head to the side. “Really? I thought momma was just like that…that’s a bit weird…”
The four froze when they saw Kagome stirring. “Kagome-chan?” Miroku asked softly. Slowly sitting up, Kagome opened her eyes and both Seras and Miroku gasped. Her eyes were changed, now they looked more like a cat’s, the pupils were slitted, and they had a silver sheen to them.
“Hmm….Roku?” Kaogme asked softly, sitting up fully, one knee bent toward the ceiling, one hand supporting her and one hand was lazily draped over her knee. The crimson sheets were pooled around her waist, and her hair was hanging over her shoulder. “W-what happened?” she asked, looking towards them. It was then that everyone noticed the change in her voice. It had a seductive purr to it, and Miroku shivered unconsciously.
Her tails had lightly tugged on Miroku’s wrist, and Kaogme almost jumped as he was pulled down onto the bed. “Whoa…I have a tail…no make that four tails…” she said awed, and she stroked one that was laying on her lap. Shippo grinned happily and launched himself at his kaasan. Laughing, Kagome caught him and held him close to her, purring happily. “Hiya Ship.”
“It seems you have found your familiar little miko.” Kagome glanced at Alucard, a bit of confusion showing in her eyes.
“So that was the spirit I saw?” he nodded and Kagome sighed. “Its weird…I feel like I’m a youkai…but I’m not.” she said, and her tails and fox ears disappeared, and she looked like she had before.
“How’d you do that momma?” Kaogme smiled down at Shippo and Alucard chuckled.
“Shape shifting. She doesn’t have it mastered, but you have the basics down.”
Kagome smiled. “I’ll get it down, it sounds like a challenge.” her eyes glinted in interest. “And I LOVE a good challenge.” she said with a smirk.
Swinging her legs out from under the sheets, she was about to stand when the whole room shook, and everyone heard a loud explosion. Miroku, Kagome, and Shippo stiffened as they felt jyaki and Shippo growled. “I smell miasma.”
Kagome’s eyes flashed red and she reached for her gun, her powers flaring. “Naraku will die No one attacks MY family!.” she hissed and she strode out of the room, never stopping as she picked up her bow and quiver of arrows off of the table. Miroku followed her, and Seras ran to her room to retrieve her Harkonnen, and Alucard disappeared into the shadows, leaving Shippo, Kagome, and Miroku alone.
“Now Kagome-chan, is that any way to greet someone? I’ve missed your beauty.” he said, his eyes shining with amusement.
Kagome scoffed, baring her fangs a little. “I’m going to love tearing you apart. Too bad that this is just a puppet.”
“Hm…it seems the little miko has grown some claws.” he said with a smirk.
Setting Shippo on the ground, she had him hold onto her bow and arrows, casting a strong barrier spell on them. “Stay here Ship, this shouldn’t take long.” Shippo was encased in a blue barrier, and he anxiously watched as Kagome approached Naraku’s puppet, calming a bit as she was followed by Miroku.
“Ah, it seems the monk is here too. And who is this?” He asked, turning to a smirking Alucard. “I hope you’ll give me more of a battle than that half breed mutt.” he said, and he was surprised to hear a soft chuckling that was distinctively feminine.
“Naraku, Naraku, Naraku. As much as I would LOVE to see Alucard tear this puppet to pieces, I would rather do it myself.” Flicking her wrist, she smirked as she cut down one of the stray youkai heading for Seras. “You really think that I would let you hurt my friends?” she purred and she chuckled a bit as she saw the surprised look on the puppet’s face as she gained her kitsune traits. “What’s the matter Naraku, scared?”
Naraku laughed. “Of course not. There’s just even more to make me want you.”
Kaogme scowled. “I’d kill myself.” she said flatly and scowled as she caught a glimpse of the smirking Alucard who was now beside her. “What’s so funny Alucard?”
Alucard grinned. “I can’t let my little pet get away from me, can I?“ he paused and grinned in amusement. “Hmm…you know little miko, I think that this might be fun.” he said, laughing insanely as he fired one round from his jackal, and Miroku shivered unconsciously, it was a bit unnerving how easily the demons were destroyed by one single bullet.
“Is that all you have? Hurry!! Hurry!! You want to keep you lives don’t you?!”
Seras sighed. “Master’s in that mood again…we’re in trouble…”
Kagome sighed. “You know, this is really getting annoying.” Her hands glowed a deep blue, and she grinned as she dashed into the writing mass of youkai, tearing them apart with her hands. Blood gushed, spurted, and splashed everywhere, and this was the precursor to a long battle. Looking up at the puppet with angered eyes, she grabbed one of the writhing tentacles and ripped it off. The puppet howled in pain, and Kagome knew that something bad was going to happen.
This sent everything into motion, and the youkai attacked anything in sight, causing both Kagome and Miroku to curse. “I was wondering what Naraku wasn’t attacking, and I know now. He was waiting for more victims!” Miroku said hurriedly, weaving through the many carcasses of slain youkai.
Kagome nodded appearing beside him, slicing through more youkai with her whip. “Yeah, seems like it.”
The ground shook, and Kagome cursed loudly as she jumped into a tree. “What in the seven hells?” Youkai swarmed around Naraku’s puppet, and as the shaking stopped, Kagome looked on in awe at this new adversary.
“What the…bloody hell! Is that a giant spider!!” Seras asked, staring at the now transformed puppet wide eyed.
“Hai.” came the quiet voice of Miroku, and he quickly dived to the ground, taking Seras with him.
“T-thanks…” Seras said weakly, and Miroku nodded.
“Now the real fun begins.” Kagome said with a smirk, her ears twitching with the beating of her heart.

Shippo smirked and crept up behind Alucard, jumping on his shoulder. It really wasn’t too hard to find him, he had the weirdest scent of pine, cinnamon, blood, and chocolate. He really didn’t know why he smelled like that, but that made it really easy for him to find the vampire. “Hiya!!” Alucard was sorely tempted to scare Shippo away, and he bared his fangs a little, half surprised that Shippo didn’t move. “That’s not going to work. I had to deal with Inuyasha all that time and he was more annoying..” Alucard nodded, he had seen Kagome’s memories, and wondered why she didn’t just send the mutt to hell herself after all he’s done.“Why are you here?” Shippo grinned at the tall vampire. Humming, he lifted his paw and let some of his foxfire dance just above his fingers.

“What exactly is wrong with Kagome master?” Seras asked, looking down at her worriedly. If the grin on her master’s face was anything to go by, it would mean trouble for everyone.“She’s found her familiar.” He stated simply, and Miroku’s eyes widened considerably.

“Naraku.” Kaogme hissed hatefully, and she knocked an arrow onto her bow, firing it with deadly accuracy. It wasn’t effective because the hundreds of lesser demons came to the puppet’s aid.“Now Kagome-chan, is that any way to greet someone?
