Chapter Seven

Rumors, Youkai, and Naraku?

Kagome sighed as she walked through the dimly lit streets, lost in thought. How did Roku get here anyway? This is confusing…He’s going to know about me being a vampire…I just hope he doesn’t go postal on fangs. It would be a shame to have him destroyed so early. I have too much fun annoying him. “Hm?” she murmured, and snapped out of her thoughts. “I thought I heard someone calling me…but who?” She grinned as she spotted Seras, who had an arm full of bags. “Ah, hey Seras!” The blonde haired fledgling looked up. “Kagome! I didn’t know you were here.” She grinned. “Yep. I had to get away from fangs and Roku for a while.” Seras stared at her, confused. ”Roku?” she asked tentatively. “Who’s that?” Kagome laughed. “O yeah, I forgot that you didn’t meet Roku yet. One major thing about him is that he’s a total hentai. Stay at least two arms reach away from him. If you do that, you’ll be safe from his wandering hands. And don’t fall for his ‘cursed hand’ excuse, even though it may be a bit true. It is cursed, it really had two curses. The one to worry about is him being lecherous.”

“Lecherous? How does he survive from all of the hits that he would get?” Kagome laughed hard. “Its because he has a head like steel. Even if I hit him with my Hiraikotsu, he would be up and about in five minutes.” Seras whistled. “Wow. He’s pretty resilient for a human male.” Kagome nodded. “C’mon, I’ll take half of the bags and we’ll head on home.” She grabbed three bags and walked beside Seras. “Geez, what’s in here Seras? It feels like rocks.” Seras grinned. “Just a lot of clothes, and I can’t forget the shoes.” Kagome’s eyes widened. “All that? Damn…” She grinned widely and ran up to Miroku. “Hey Roku! Finally up and about!” He nodded. “Yes, that dark haired vampire woke me in the most unpleasant way.” Kagome quirked a brow. “How so?” He scowled a bit. “He drenched me with ice cold water, and as I was drying off, he turned into this grotesque shape, appearing in front of me quickly. I’d have to say it was as scary as Lady Sango when she’s mad.”

Kagome laughed. “That’s funny. You’re scared of fangs. He’s just all hot air like Inuyasha is. His bark is worse than his bite. Well, not literally. If I was speaking figuratively, his bite would be worse than his bark.” Miroku stared at Kagome. “Kagome-sama, are you a vampire as well? You have the same feel as Alucard does.” kagome laughed nervously and scratched her head. “Well, you caught me. If fangs didn’t turn me, I wouldn’t be here right now. I was hurt in a surprise attack by an annoying freak. It had the audacity to use a poison that my powers couldn’t heal.” Miroku tensed. “I wish that I was there to help Kagome-sama.” Kagome smiled softly. “Don’t worry about it Roku. You’re here now.” He nodded. “You’re right Kagome-sama.

Kagome growled as she felt Alucard’s familiar aura behind her. Smirking as she lashed out at him with her whip, she laughed as he growled in annoyance. “Little miko. You are to accompany me as well as Police girl to Rome. There are rumors of demons and freaks on the loose.” Kagome and Miroku stilled. “Youkai? No…It can’t be!” Roku glanced at Kagome. “It can only be one youkai. Naraku.” Kagome bared her fangs at the idea. “I’ll rip that hanyou to shreds with my bare hands.” She growled and her violet eyes flashed a dark crimson. Miroku stared at her in worry. Placing a hesitant hand on her shoulders, he calmed hr by releasing some of his aura around them. “Calm down Kagome-sama. Naraku will get his time.”

Alucard and Seras stared at the two curiously. ‘So this Naraku has finally shown his face little miko? It seems that you bear an intense hatred for him.” he said chuckling. Kagome growled and snapped at Alucard. “Fangs, stay out of my business!” Seras sighed. “Kagome, he’s only worried about you. Its his weird way of showing it.” Kagome laughed bitterly. “Worried about me? Heh. The only people that would ever be worried about me are Tegra, Roku, Sango-chan, Shippo, Kirara, Souta, Rin-chan, Sesshou-kun, Kaede, and momma. But it seems that the only two people here are Roku and Tegra. I can’t count Souta and momma cause there gone!” Roku smiled sadly and encased Kagome in a tight hug. “Don’t lose hope kagome-sama. We’re all here for you.”

She smiled shakily and one lone blood tear fell from her eye. Brushing it away he released her and smiled. Feel better?” Kagome grinned. ”Mmmhm. Thanks Roku.” Miroku’s violet eyes twinkled. “No problem Kagome-sama.” Grinning inwardly, his hand reached low and groped her, loving the way she fit into his hand. Kagome twitched in anger. “Rooookkuu!! You perverted houshi!” She grabbed her bow and whacked him with it hard. “Ahh…worth the pain.” He said dreamily and fell to the ground. Seras prodded at him with her foot. “Is he still alive?” Kagome grinned. “Don’t be fooled. That pervert’s still alive. Rooookkuu! We’re going to leave you behind If you’re not up! And you won’t be able to se Sango-chan again! You’ll be stuck here with Tegra!” Roku jumped up. “Don’t leave me Kagome-sama!” She smirked at him. “Aw, I was just kidding Roku.”

Kagome and Miroku stared at the many lights that were in the dark sky, amazed. “Wow. Look at the buildings, there huge! Larger than any lord’s mansion no doubt.” Kagome quirked an eyebrow and stared at Roku like he was crazy. “Roku, that’s only some buildings. Others are pretty small compared to this.” he sighed. Seras giggled at their wide eyed expression. “Never seen Rome before?” Kagome and Miroku shook their heads. “No. It sure is pretty though.” Miroku nodded. “Look! It’s our landing spot. Something surely happened not too long ago, there’s scorch marks on the ground.” Kagome remarked.

“Looks like this is going to be interesting.” Alucard said and grinned, showing off his fangs. Kagome and Seras sighed. “If you go overboard, I’ll throw a subduing necklace on you so fast…” Miroku smirked. It seems that Alucard’s more like Inuyasha than I thought. This is going to get interesting quickly. He’s going to end up eating dirt, and I know he won’t like it one bit.

“I sense youkai.” Kagome murmured. “But why?” Miroku glanced at her, then tightened his grip on his shakujou. “It could be possible that some jewel shards have appeared here, in the present. It is most likely that he used either Kanna or Kagura to get through the well.” Kagome growled. “Kagura. Show yourself!”

Kagura stepped out of the shadows, her trusty fan shielding her face from view. “Why if it isn’t the miko. And what’s this? You’ve changed for the better I suppose.” Kagome growled. “Where’s Naraku?” Kagura laughed. “Why would I tell you that?” She smirked and directed the demons that were hiding in the trees. Kagome growled and her eyes flashed a dark violet. A strong barrier formed around the group, and they watched as the youkai were turned to ashes. Kagura scowled. Flicking her fan, she called out, “Dance of blades.” This time, it was Miroku that shielded them with a barrier. “Try something new Kagura.” She lashed out at her with her purifying whip and grinned as she burned many places on her body. “How can you know that attack!” Kagome smirked. “This is one of the effects of being trained by Sesshoumaru.” Kagura’s eyes hardened and she stilled as Kanna appeared. “You are to pull back Kagura. Lord Naraku has ordered it.” Kagura cursed and picked a feather from her hair and escaped on her feather boat.

“Damn it!” Kagome cried out and punched the ground hard, leaving a good sized crater. “Now I know for sure that Naraku is here.”

“Naraku is here? Well, that bastard won’t be in this world for long kaasan.” Kagome’s head whipped to the side, immediately recognizing the voice. “S-Shippo?” She asked quietly. Shippo grinned and barreled his way toward Kagome. “Okaaasaaan!!!” he cried out happily. Kagome caught him, and smiled as she stroked his hair. He’s grown. she thought fondly. He looks like he’s about eight now. “Shippo, what happened?” He shrugged. I wished on one of the leaves my mom gave me and I ended up in this weird place. It made my whole body feel funny. Then I appeared here through a weird portal.”

Kagome smiled. “It doesn’t matter. You’re safe, and that’s all that matters.” Miroku walked up to the newly reunited pair. “Its good to see you again Shippo. It seems that you’ve grown quite a bit in my absence.” Shippo tilted his head to the side. “Miroku? How’d you get here?” Miroku laughed. “It was something like what happened to you.”

“You’re this kit’s mother little miko? If that is true, wouldn’t he be half demon and half human?” kagome bared her fangs at him. “He’s my adopted son, but I think of him as my own flesh and blood.” Miroku sighed and glanced at Alucard. “ It would be in your best interest to not bully or insult Shippo in lady Kagome’s presence.” Shippo grinned. “Is he going to get a subduing necklace like Inuyasha momma?” Kagome laughed. “He just might.” He studied Kagome thoughtfully. Momma seems different…but why? Ah, I shouldn’t think about it. I’ll be told by momma anyway. Momma’s still momma.

Interrupting their reunion, a loud explosion was heard, and the ground shook violently. “What was that?” Kagome and Shippo asked quickly. “It was our target.” Alucard replied. Seras sighed and they followed the dark haired vampire, to an unknown enemy.

I sense youkai…but ghouls also. What would they be doing in the same place?

Shippo gripped her shoulders hard as he tried to regain his grip. "Something bad is here momma. It reminds me of Naraku." kagome growled as she felt the oh so familiar aura of her family's kidnapper. "Show yourself you coward!" The silver haired figure chuckled. "Now, is that any way to treat a person little miko? Now then, my name is Dante, may I know the name of my victims?"

Kagome growled. "You won't need our names because I'm going to wipe your ass off of the face of the planet! Where's my mother? and Souta?!" Dante's green eyes danced in amusement. "Well then, I shall take you up on your offer later. I feel no need to engage in a battle with you now."

As he disappeared, the ghouls and youkai did as well. "Damn!" Kagome yelled out, and Seras sighed. "It seems that we now have two enemies to face." Alucard remarked. "Let's go home." Kagome said softly. The group nodded and boarded the small plane, and headed back to the Hellsing manor.

You will be destroyed Naraku...I will find you Dante, and I'll get my family back!
