Chapter 7

Nurses Office

Sasuke stood behind an ash tree, his vision identifying the two figures on the training ground as Iruka-sensei and Naruto. He wondered silently what was happening as he leapt into a tree and observed them both. Naruto's wide grin and flashing blue eyes made Sasuke cringe, the idiotic blonde was happy…

"Oi! Oi! Sensei! Why are we here? Are you going to teach me something?" Naruto said, practically jumping with joy. His actions stumped Sasuke, it seemed that being around Iruka made Naruto happy. Maybe the blonde found someone who actually cared for him.

"No no." Iruka said, a smile on his face as he watched the boy's ocean blue eyes dance. "Kakashi wants me to tell you about a mission that's coming up."

"MISSION!!! SUGOI!!!" Naruto cheered, smile getting wider, "This is even BETTER then training!" He squirmed in excitement, making Iruka laugh.

Sasuke's eyes widened. A mission? Why wasn't he informed? Was it a mission just for Naruto? Suddenly this conversation between his old sensei and his idiotic team mate became a little more interesting.

"Hai hai… you're going to a non-ninja village. Tokyo, I think… there you will be attending school. So…" Iruka smiled, "Best behaviour."

Sasuke would have laughed if it wouldn't have gave away his position. Or if he actually would allow himself a chuckle. Avengers don't laugh.

"What are you doing Sasuke?" A familiar voice said from behind Sasuke. The boy didn't jump, he sensed Kakashi's weight in the tree seconds before, so he expected it. "Eavesdropping on a team mate… naughty naughty."

The raven haired boy turned to face his broom-haired sensei, "Is it true you're sending us on a mission?"

Kakashi's only visible eye arched and Sasuke presumed he was smiling. "Hai, however it's going to be just you and Naruto on this one." He watched Sasuke's pale face turn into a frown. "What? Aren't you glad of this mission?"

"Why are we going on it? What's the purpose? It's just a non-ninja village."

The sensei's smile faded slightly, "The purpose is to teach you about what it's like in other cultures. They have some interesting technology over there."

"You want me to run away don't you. You've noticed that both Naruto and I have been losing self-control, and that our enemies are on the move. You're putting us in a low profile situation." Sasuke said, his eyes narrowing. Kakashi's silence made the boy grimace. It was true, he and Naruto were going to be forced to learn to cope with there problems.

Naruto's echoed laughter made Sasuke shiver. A mission with just Naruto. How could he manage to survive…

The off-white walls of the nurse's office welcomed Inuyasha as he opened his eyes. He was laying on one of the two medical cots set up in case of emergencies. The other bed of course being occupied by Uchiha Sasuke. Inuyasha glanced out the single window facing the door, his vision slightly fuzzy. He felt like he could easily go back to sleep… his head was pounding and he really didn't want to deal with the consequences of losing control of his youkai blood. It was at that moment Higurashi Kagome entered the room, quickly followed by the idiotic blonde he just met.

The girl walked over and sat on a stool between the two cots, glancing over at Inuyasha with a worried look. "You alright Inuyasha? You… you didn't hurt Sasuke did you?" The only response she got from him was an inaudible grumble and a pathetic groan. He turned to face her, amber eyes slightly dull from being physically sedated by his older brother. Kagome sighed, "I see…" She rested her arms on the side of the makeshift bed. "So… did you umm… well… you know…" her words trailed off as she feared the worse, her thoughts reminding her of Inuyasha's first day.

"There's NO WAY I am wearing this uniform! I can't even walk properly! Besides, there's nowhere to put Tessaiga!" Inuyasha was fuming; one could almost see the steam coming out of his ears. "AND I have to be in my fucking human form! THIS SUCKS ASS!"

"But Inuyasha!" The black haired girl's plea was not heard and the angry hanyou exploded.

"THIS IS STUPID KAGOME! You should have just stayed in Sengoku Jidai where you belonged with the rest of us instead of dragging everyone here!" The hanyou smelt her tears before he saw them and quickly tried to keep them from flowing down the girl's cheeks. He hated it when she cried. "Dammit Kagome… I didn't mean it like that!"

"THEN HOW DID YOU MEAN IT!? You're such a JERK YOU KNOW!" Kagome yelled at him. "OSUWARI! OSUWARI! OSUWARI!"

"You know Inuyasha, that's the third time this week"

Not being able to reply properly the white haired hanyou cursed into the carpets of his new home.

"Oh! Good Morning Sesshoumaru." Kagome smiling happily mood changing immediately after seeing Inuyasha's half brother in his crisp suit. "Are you heading off to work?"

"Hai, unlike some people." Sesshoumaru replied shooting a glace at a certain someone. "I can drop you off at school."

"Really!? Awesome thank you Sesshoumaru!" As soon as the words left her mouth the slate eyed girl figured the rest of the day would be very, very long. She wasn't that far off.

"Hey did you see that guy with that Higurashi chick?"
"Yeah! His hair was longer then hers! Well not quite, but man he looked like such a fruit!"

Inuyasha knew the boys were talking about him, he didn't understand what they were really saying but he knew they were insulting him, so he did what he would usually do. He beat the shit out of them.
Inuyasha smirked, his ears twitched. He flexed his hands noticing there was a sufficient amount of blood splatter on the walls as well as the floor, turning he looked at Kagome his snow white hair moving In front of his face. Shit…. I dropped my

"Almost…" The boy said, making Kagome exhale in relief, "Let me sleep Kagome?" He asked, his voice a quiet whisper.

The female student nodded a faint smile on her face, "Hai, of course." She turned away from Inuyasha to look at what Naruto was doing. The blonde was pulling down his partner's high collar in order to look at something on his neck. His tanned face scrunched up into a worried expression and he cursed silently.

"Is he alright, Naruto?" She asked, a little concerned for Sasuke's health, after all, she was responsible for them. However at her words the boy jumped and went to remove his hand from his team mate's shirt. Sadly he was too slow, for Sasuke's ebony eyes snapped open and he grabbed Naruto's orange sleeved arm with an iron grip.

"I…Itai!" He shouted loudly, wrenching his arm from Sasuke's pale hand.

"Naruto!" Sasuke said in slight shock, then regained his usual composure as he realized there where people in the room. Last thing I remember…

Kagome looked at Sasuke then at Naruto, then back to Sasuke, "Sasuke? Daijoubu?" Her slate eyes once again wavered with worry. The exchange student however looked back at her, his raven hair somewhat ruffled and replied with a simple, "I'm fine."

Naruto however was the one to break the peace, as usual. "Sasuke! Sensei's… seal…" He ceased his talk, afraid to say anymore in front of a non-nin. Sasuke was glad that Naruto showed this one burst of intelligence and had only blurted something that Kagome wouldn't understand. His hand flew to his neck, gingerly touching the still burning mark; Orochimaru's mark. His face twisted into an angry frown, he lost control, he was becoming worse then Naruto.

Their host didn't look to at ease. She was currently biting her lip, wondering what was going on to Sasuke. Naruto however, ignored Kagome's obvious yet silent distress and attempted to suggest something in order to fix the situation. "We have to contact him…"

Kagome couldn't handle any more mystery. "Contact who?"

The quiet stillness in the room made the girl wonder if she had said something wrong. But the boys looked at her, a faint glimmer in both their eyes, "Can we borrow a… fone?"

They said it in perfect unison, Sasuke's calm and serious tone mixing with Naruto's carefree yet loud voice. Kagome would have laughed at their question if they hadn't seemed so desperate. "Well… the school doesn't let students use the phone, but we could go to my house… and skip last block. I mean, I only have art and I have 100% in that class anyways."

"Yes, we need to leave." Sasuke said hastily.

"Okay. So the plan is… we're going to my house and then you can call whoever you need to there." She stood and looked to the exchange students, waiting for a reaction.

Naruto jumped and ran to the door. "C'mon!!!"

Sasuke just stared at him from his sitting position on the cot. There was only a slight emergency, no need to drop everything and run for help. He could handle his seal; after all he'd been coping with it for about three years. He turned to Kagome only to find she was looking at him. She smiled slightly, "Ano… you'll be alright walking?"

The student jumped to his feet, proving that there was nothing wrong with him, "I'm completely fine." With the exception of the burning mark on your neck. I wonder why Kakashi-sensei's seal didn't hold…

Kagome smiled, "Okay good, I was a little worried about you. Inuyasha can get really rough sometimes…" She walked to the door, glancing at Sasuke and wondering how he actually managed to come out of a fight with Inuyasha without a single scratch. "Let's go then." She would think about the fight later when everything calmed down.

Sasuke sighed and followed after her and Naruto, exiting the hallway and heading towards Kagome's house. Would this day ever end?
