"Otaru! Otaru, I want some cotton candy!"

"I just bought you some, Lime!"

"I want some more!"

Otaru laughed and shook his head. "Okay. I guess you can have another one. Here you go."

He handed her another coin and patted her on the head. She giggled and spun around, wagging her rear end like a tail. "Thank you, Otaru!"

Cherry and Bloodberry walked up to the pair, both still holding their first stick of cotton candy. Around them, people strolled by in groups, laughing and talking, discussing which part of the fair they wanted to see next.

"Lime! Have you eaten all of your cotton candy already?" Cherry asked disapprovingly.

"Yup! Otaru said I could have some more!" She held up the coin Otaru had given her and did a little dance of excitement.

"Cotton candy, cotton candy, yay-yay-yay!" Her shoes squeaked as she danced around.

Her dance went on for a few moments, then slowed and stopped. She looked at the faces around her a little uncomfortably.

"Why is everyone looking at me like that?" Three faces stared at her, jaws slack with surprise.

"Lime… why are you glowing?"

"Glowing?" She looked down at herself in surprise. "Ooohh! Pretty!" She held out her arms and twisted her body this way and that, examining the purple glow that surrounded her.

"Daddy, look at that marionette!" a little boy cried from across the street. "She's glowing!" A crowd began to form around the group. Exclamations of surprise could be heard all around.

"Lime, what is it?" Bloodberry demanded, glancing down at herself to make sure she too wasn't glowing.

"I-I don't know! Otaru, I'm scared! It doesn't feel right!"

Otaru reached out a hand to comfort her, eyes wide with concern. Before his hand could reach her shoulder she had faded away into nothing.
