Kim's PoV
It all started, oddly enough… With a single drop of water. The water rushed out of the sink, as a worm glass made its way under the stream, catching it quickly. Short brown hair hung some in my face and my nose wrinkled, pushing up glasses with a free hand. Things were going alright now. My husband, James and I had moved into our new apartment… and though it wasn't the best, it was a roof over our heads. Humming softly, I bought the glass to my lips, drinking down the water and wetting my dry throat. It had been hurting more and more recently, and though I kept insisting it was nothing, James always thought otherwise. Suddenly the apartment shook with enough force to throw me to the floor, my head slamming against the back counter and the glass I had dropping to the floor, shattering instantly. In that small second, I saw things…
Things that couldn't be. Another woman with brown hair and glasses, screaming. An apartment in ruins. A mansion atop a hill and blood. So much blood…
Footsteps moved through the apartment and my eyes opened, the light making me squint them closed again.
“…James… I… Fuck… I think something happened.” Arms wrapped around me, carefully pulling me to my feet. “I'm not sure what it was,” he muttered, looking me over to make sure I wasn't bleeding, “No cuts… But a bruise prolly.” I groaned, leaning against him, “This sucks.” I wish I could say that it had ended at that. Oh how I wished.
~Later that evening~
I was taking a bath, soaking in the warm waters, trying to ease away my still throbbing head. Stupid apartment shaking. I sank below the water, bubbles coming up from my nose as I let the warmth envelope me. The rushing of water… It sounded so nice and comforting. I went to resurface, only to find I couldn't. Panic struck me as I brought my arms up, flailing to grab at the sides of the tub… Only to not find them. My eyes snapped open, and the first thing I saw wasn't reassuring: black. I couldn't see anything. My mouth opened in a scream, and it was too late that I realized my mistake. Water coursed into my lungs, only making me inhale more to try and find air.
'Goddess… I'm drowning… I'm drowning in my tub… Help… Help me!'
More bubbles came up and I felt myself get lightheaded. It was getting harder and harder to focus… How easy it would be to just go…
Something wrapped around my arm and hefted me up to the surface. Upon reaching it my eyes flew open and I threw up water, coughing and sputtering when my lungs finally found air.
“'Ere lass.. Good. Keep bre'thin.” I continued to cough, feeling rough cloth surround me. Arms continued to hold me as I vaguely heard someone shouting orders. Something about making port and finding someone… My vision swam and I felt nothing more.
~Stranger~
“..She doesn't look right.”
“That's because she almost drowned.”
A woman with brown hair sighed, tapping her foot impatiently against the ever creaking floorboards of an always moving ship. A tussle of hair leaned forward, an arm wrapping around the woman's waist. “Luv, ye worry too much. She'll be fine… Jus' wondering how she ended up out here. Has anyone called Seto yet?” Meg nodded, kneeling down to grab at Kim's hand, holding it tightly, “I just don't get it Jack.”
~Kaiba Corp~
The phone call had shaken him to the very core. Kim… She had gone missing almost a month ago. All efforts had been used to try and find her, but nothing had ever come up. Seto had even personally threatened some very innocent people. This had caused stress upon him… Even more so when he was the one that had to inform Maxine and Meg… His ears rang to this day, remembering how they had reacted. So now he paced, his mind a complete blur of nothing less than getting to her. Of getting her back to him. Within fifteen minutes, he was on a private jet, flying out to where he knew Jack and Meg made port every few months for stacks of rum and supplies. When his jet landed, he walked very briskly to the harbor, eyes narrowing as he searched for any sign of he--
“Get your damn hands off me!” He blinked, turning quickly and moving towards the voice… The familiar voice that haunted his dreams… To the face that watched him whenever he closed his eyes. “You're supposed to be in Canada! What the hell? WHAT THE HELL!?” Meg and Jack were standing there, trying to calm the very panicked woman. “Where's James?!” Her eyes were wide with fear and confusion and she was shaking.
He moved over quickly, reaching her in record time. “..Kim,” he breathed softly, exhaling air he hadn't realized he had been holding. Her eyes jerked upwards to meet Seto's and she froze… Like a deer in headlights. “…Seto Kaiba,” She whimpered, and it hurt. Meg and Jack looked at Seto and shrugged helplessly.
