Summary: How friendship is made to last, and the inevitable attraction it sometimes causes. Hiei/Yusuke/Kagome

“Hello and good afternoon to all you out there. Today is a bright and sunny Friday.” The feminine voice spilled over the radio as the “On Air” sign glowed bright red.

“This is your afternoon DJ Kagome.” Kagome smiled into the microphone as she spoke.

“And this is your favorite DJ Yusuke filling the other side of the gender world. We are here again to bring you the awesome songs by your favorite bands and musicians.”
Yusuke leaned back in his chair grinning to his co-host on the other side of the bullet proof glass.

“I must say I got a great view from where I am sittin'.”

“You're shameless.” Kagome laughed. “Aren't you forgetting you already have someone?”

Yusuke didn't even flinch at her comment.
“Yeah, but I can still enjoy the scenery. After all what else can I stare at when I got you?”

“Yeah save it for Hiei, Alright we will take a few callers and play some music and when we get back we will be playing for tickets to the new music festival.”
Kagome gave Yusuke the middle finger while grinning like a Cheshire.

Yusuke responded with a hand pressed to his heart and a `hurt' look.
The two years the detective and the miko had been working together caused the two to become best friends, and neither would deny the attraction, but they wouldn't act upon it.

Kagome still being a bit sore from her broken hearts and Yusuke being in a possessive relationship with Hiei prevented the two.

Kagome wouldn't lie and say if Yusuke wasn't single she would leave him alone, if anything he was the only person she would consider dating, other then Hiei, but the relationship between the two demons was strong.

She was happy just having them as her friends.

“Okay first caller!” Yusuke announced pressing the red button allowing the line to open up.

“*Uh, Hello? Am I on?*” A young female voice filtered in.

“Yup, so what's your question, comment, complaint or compliment?” Yusuke asked.

Kagome smiled when Yusuke flashed a grin.

Kagome remembered when she had first met Yusuke; they had hit it off from the start.
Kagome had been turning seventeen and had finished the shard hunt not a year before.
At the current time Kagome was closed off and had resorted to sticking her nose into the nearest book. She had advanced quite a bit in the time she was home.
As soon as her travels were over Kagome didn't talk much and studied hard.
Her social life crumbled, but it didn't matter to her, she just wanted to be in solitude.

She frequented the library and the arcade on occasion to get away from her family's nagging worry; on one such visit to the arcade she had met Yusuke.
Yusuke and Kuwabara had been visiting the arcade to pass the time before they went to the new action/horror flick and had caught sight of her plowing a bunch of Zombies on `Dawn of the Dead II'. (I have no idea if that's a game)
She wasn't the hottest looking chick there; actually she was probably the most modest if anything.
The arcade had been filled with a few drunks trying to find enough change for another drink, teenage boys and their sleazy girlfriends hanging all over them as they tried to prove who had the biggest dick with some car chase game.

She herself blended into the `cyber geek' category, but her timing had been off for such overlooked grouping.

She wore a sweatshirt that was three times larger then her actual size, jeans and a pair of glasses. Her eyes were bleary from all the reading causing her eyes to become slightly near sighted.

Her hair had been tied in a messy bun since she never cared to mess with the troublesome locks and didn't care to go near a scissor happy barber.

“Wow, you got good aim.” Yusuke had been the first to talk to her.
“Thanks…” She mumbled not even sparing him a glance.

She had chalked her aim up to all her practice with real life `Hit or Die'.
The two had stood there until she finished.

“You're good, I have yet to see some one beat my old score, but you might just pull it off.” Yusuke grinned at her.
“You're Yusuke?” She asked he was a bit stunned she knew his name, but nodded.
“Sorry to be the first to inform you but I beat your score last week.”
She had been prepared for denial, shouting or even indignant sputtering, but Yusuke being himself had surprised her.
She stiffened when she heard him laughing; he gripped his sides and laughed hard.

“Hey, if you think just because I am a girl means I can't beat your ass…” He waved her off regaining his composure he turned to her.
“No, not at all, its just he…” He jerked a thumb in Kuwabara's direction.
“Has been trying to beat that score for about two years as has everyone else, and you just stroll right in and beat it.” He let off another round of chuckles.

“What is your name?” Yusuke asked after calming down.
If it had been anyone else she would have said `feh' and been on her way, but his warm chocolate eyes that were filled with the same intensity as her own and held mirth despite what he had likely been through.

`Higurashi. Higurashi, Kagome.” Kagome took his offered hand and shook it.

“Well Higurashi I can already see that I can get along with you.” He grinned giving her hand a firm shake.

She couldn't help the smile that took residence on her face at his nonchalant attitude.

He had then invited her to join them in indulging in a movie. He didn't tell her what genre it was, he wanted to talk with her, and if she didn't like that sort of thing, she could leave.

Kagome had accepted, also wanting to get to know the detective.

When the three had stepped into line Kagome nearly jumped in excitement, they were going to the newest Horror movie.

No less then two years prior she would have abhorred the idea. Opting for a romantic chick flick instead, then again two years ago she wouldn't have been caught dead dressed as she was.

Kagome had always had an open mind, but at one time was slightly superficial and, well, normal. Time had changed her view of the world and her tastes.
Now-a-days she spent less time worrying about how to look pretty and fight acne, and more about what was to come now that the jewel was complete in her side preventing her from aging. She was in essence, a living breathing artifact of immense power…she just had no idea how to use it.
She was pretty much a slave with her `I do as you command or wish' complex.
She didn't mind much, except she was near defenseless save for her bow and the prospect of becoming a literal battery for her next `master'.

“I think I love you.” Kagome stated as Yusuke handed her the ticket.
He simply gave her a smirk and said “Sorry, I'm spoken for.”

They had then purchased popcorn and drinks, which she insisted on paying for since he had invited her.

“So, what's up with the tomboy complex?” Yusuke asked taking a large swig of his soda.

“What tomboy complex?” She swore to this day his drink sprayed half way across the room.

“Sorry, I was just kidding.” She patted him on the back as Kuwabara sniggered.

“If you're asking why my tastes differ from that of other girls, it's because I have been through a few things that changed my out look on things.” He nodded encouraging her to continue.

“Well, two years ago I would have probably been in a skirt, but I made a few friends a while back, and well we became close, but then something happened and now they are all resting peacefully, at least I hope.” She stated.
Yusuke flashed a sympathetic look, which she brushed off with a `feh' and small smile.

They had entered the movie and enjoyed themselves too soon it was all over.
“Damn, did you see that guys head? It was so fake!” She laughed

Yusuke chuckled at her antics watching in amusement as she pointed out all the flaws.
“I can't say your wrong, but the girl behind us sure believed it was real.” Kuwabara stated.

“Yeah, I think she gave me the ringing in my ears, that or the one in front of us.” She mumbled rubbing her ear for emphasis.

“Personally, I think it was both.” Yusuke added his two cents in.

“I would have personally congratulated their dates for shutting them up if it weren't for them making out that had stopped them.” Kagome stated.

“Yeah, though you have to admit the first girl that died was hot.” Yusuke laughed when Kuwabara punched him and stated `I don't think she is as open minded as you…'
“Yeah, but I have seen hotter, besides I think her head is merely for storage. And who the hell wears that tight of a skirt on a hike?” Kagome lacked to notice their shocked expressions.

“Kagome do you swing both ways?” Asked the ever blunt Yusuke.

“Yeah, if I am attracted to someone, I won't hide it.” `I already learned my lesson the first time, waiting only causes more pain.'

Yusuke grinned.
“Kagome you are my kinda girl.”

“Thanks…” Taking her glasses off she rubbed her eyes with the hilt of her palm and replaced them.

She saw the two starring at her when she looked at them.
“What?” She blurted out.

“Your really cute without your glasses.”
Kagome blushed at the compliment.

“Hey tomorrow are you doing anything?” Yusuke asked catching her off guard.
“No…” She said wearily.
“Great, meet me at the arcade at 11:00, I think I have someone you might like to meet.”
She nodded and they departed ways.

“Kuwabara, you sensed the energy coming off her right?” in response Kuwabara nodded.
“Yeah, it seemed like she was shielding a bit of it, but it was so…wild…your planning on taking her to Genkai aren't you?”

“Yeah, Hiei and Kurama will be there as well, if I am correct she can be a good ally and even better friend.” Kuwabara nodded.

They would wait till the next day to see the out come.
