Bloody Fangs
Chapter 6
Worst Nightmare

She wanted to spit in that pale face of hers. She was tempted but didn't know what this Kikyou bitch would do to her. Sweat trickled down her forehead as she tried to slow her beating heart.
Kikyou laughed in her face. Her breath warm and soft like silk. Her breath smelled of peppermints but behind the fragerance was just a hint of blood. Fresh kill.
"You're breath smells of blood." Kagome smirked as she spoke. Kikyou reared back, her hand shooting to her mouth, such a human gesture. Kagome couldn't help but laugh. She felt the hem of Kikyou's dress brush against her face and then a slippered foot found a home in her chest. Kagome tumbled backwards onto her back. For the second time tonight she couldn't breathe. She gasped and coughed and tried to get air in her lungs.
A voice reared over Kagome's head. Scalding and blazing with rage anyone could taste her fury. "Get her out of here before I kill her myself!" Kagome turned onto her side as air burned down her throat. "Stay where you are Kurama." Kurama was halfway to her and all Kikyou had to do was put up a slender hand to stall him. "Are you scared, executioner?"
"Yes." What could Kagome do? You can't lie to a thousand year old vampire and get a way with it.
"Anything broken?" Kagome felt around her rib cage. Nothing. Something should've broken and Kagome knew it.
"No."
"Pity." Kikyou strolled around Kagome and stopped just before her face. "Well I guess if something did break it'll slow you down or make you useless to us." She said the last part like it had possibilities. Kagome wondered what would've happened if Kikyou did break something. She didn't want to know. And well, who could blame her?
"You're lucky, executioner. We have a witness who saw the murder of one of our own the other night." Kagome stared up at her, a brow cocked up in curiousity. "A zombie." She smirked down at her, then became a smile and she pivited and skipped back to her chair. A cute childish gesture, yeah right. "Kouga!"
A vampire with long black hair tied in a ponytail entered into the light, next to him a slightly decayed human.
"Go!" Kouga yelled pushing the zombie forward. Kagome stared at him, it trembled before her, holding its head. "Tell her who killed Yuusuke." Demanded Kouga. It wimpered in response. Kouga strolled over and kicked it. "Tell her now!"
"Stop it!" Kagome lept to her feet and pushing Kouga out of the way.
"What is it, executioner?" Kikyou asked, suddenly right next to her. She cocked her perfect face to the side. Kagome swore she needed a demple to go with it. She turned her attention back to the zombie. Rivers of tears streamed down its face as it rocked slowly back and forth.
"Now you've done it."
"Done what?" Kouga growled.
"You broke the zombie's mind!"
"Zombies don't have minds."
"True, but they have memories! Only with good treatment can a zombie keep their memory of a certain event for at least a week but with," and as she said this she pointed to Kouga, "ill treatment a zombie's memory is completely destroyed. Thus, making it completely useless to us!" Kagome yelled.
"Really..." Kikyou spoke lowly. She turned slowly towards Kouga who gulped heavily. Her hands caressed the skin along his neck and in one swift motion he was on the ground. Gasping and heaving air. Struggling and twitching. She held a piece of skin, she'd torn out his throat.
"Get her out! NOW!" Kikyou screamed as Kagome had finally got to her feet. Gasping as she saw Kikyou levitate slowly. Her wrist was suddenly gripped by none other than Kouga, who's wound was healing rapidly.
"Let's go!" He yelled over a wind that was being produced out of thin air. He pulled her along to the door and the stairs. The door slammed shut behind them as they bustled up the long stairs.
It sounded like a storm of some kind behind the door. Kagome followed along after Kouga who was gliding easily up the stairs. Damn, she wished she had vampire powers at this moment.
The door burst open suddenly and the storm rushed after them. She was knocked to the side of the staircase. There was nothing to hold on to. Kouga and herself gripped at the wall and fell to the stairs holding each other down.
A whisper, a smooth whisper of Kurama's voice floated in the wind, "Kagome." She struggled to look up as her hair blew in her face. "Kagome." And then an addition to her name. "Forgive me." Two green slits appeared in front of her and she wondered, where these the eyes of Kurama? Was he dead? All she knew was she suddenly didn't want these green things to touch her.
"NO!" She tore away from Kouga who yelled something at her but was drowned out by the wind. Kagome pressed herself flatly against the wall. "Leave me alone!" She yelled hitting at the green slits that melted into her skin, into her eyes. Her world was silent and green. A whisper: "Run, run." And then she was back. The wind had stopped like someone had turned off a switch.
Suddenly Kouga spoke, she thought he was whispering but it sounded like he was yelling. "You're eyes, they glowed green!"
"I know, shh. Quiet." She spoke, for some reason she didn't want anyone to hear that. Man, she was loosing it. But the advice the voice said was good. Run, running was good. She got to her feet and took off up the stairs. Kouga following behind her.
They finally reached the top were a light hung down. Kagome never knew that one little dim light could be beautiful. But it was. It meant that they were leaving the underground and coming back to the mortal world. There was a door and big muscular man stood in front of it.
"Hello Kuwabara." Kouga said standing behind her. Kuwabara just grunted and opened the door behind him, to a circus. Not any old circus. But the Circus of the Damned. A man leaned against the door frame and looked at her with a smile. Fangs, vampire. Why didn't that surprise her?
"I was afriad I'd missed you, executioner."
"Who are you?" She asked dully.
"You don't remember my voice?"
"No."
"Well, I guess I can't truly blame you. It's been two years." He wore a gold mask and a hat. He removed his hat to expose black spikey hair with a white starburst. Suddenly, it hit her. She remembered the night two years ago.
He held her down snapping his jaws at her. She struggled against him, using her arm so he wouldn't get to her neck. She remembered him biting down into her arm, snapping the bone. Next he went for the throat and ended up biting down hard into her collarbone. Although she never knew why he missed. He snapped it and lapped up her blood like a cat with milk. She couldn't feel the pain of her broken bones yet; shock. She suddenly began to not be afraid, numb. She began to die.
Her left hand brushed over a smooth glass service. Holy water. He began to run his tongue and teeth against her naked bone. She screamed and he laughed into her shoulder. She uncorked the bottle and splashed him with Holey Water. Skin bubbled and boiled and he cluched his face and screamed over her.
"You." She whispered and he chuckled.
"Now do you remember? Like I've remembered all these years. I am the vampire that nearly killed you, that tasted your blood. I am Hiei."
