Summary: Sango finds herself alone and never suspects that she has a silent companion

Hi I'm back again. Hope you like this chapter. Sorry no lemon yet, but then again I think they need to get to know each other just a little bit at least. What can I say Sango is not easy. And Hei needs to prove himself a bit more.

Chapter 3

 

 

 

The Hiratsu hit him right on his back and before he knew what happened he landed right on his ass. `Ow', he said softly to himself with a chagrined look upon his face fore being caught so unawares, while at the same time rubbing his behind.

 

He looked up to se Higaro and Sango facing him. Higaro had an amused look upon his face. It was as if he was saying `about time twerp'. Higaro and him were about the same age the only difference was that Higaro liked making himself look younger, something about throwing off his opponent. Sango had moved and repositioned herself so that she was now facing both. She standing there in a defensive stand waiting for one of them to make the first move.

 

`Damn, That was a good move woman.' He said to Sango as he started to stand up, then slowly pulled out his sword and stood ready to attack. Though he was trying to make up his mind who he wanted to fight first. Higaro and him did have a score to settle but they have never really been able to defeat each other. Their fights have always led to a standstill. Sango on the other hand, he couldn't wait to see how she would hold up to him.

 

So there they stood all three facing each other, just waiting for someone to make a move.

 

`Well is anyone going to do something, or are we planning to just stand here all day.' Higaro said, with a touch of boredom upon his face.

 

`I'm ready whenever you are, though I must say you must be a weakling to need help against little me.' Sango taunted.

 

`I thought YOU invited the little twerp. He's no ally to me.' Higaro taunted the man.

 

`Hm. Shut up Higaro. Besides what are you doing here?'

 

`None of your business little man.' Higaro taunted with a smirk on his face. He knew how much this man hated being called little, though you rarely if ever were able to get a rise out of him.

 

`You know my name Icee, use it, or do I have to teach you some respect for your betters.'

 

`Betters my ass Hei, you are younger than I am.' Higaro responded back.

 

`I wasn't talking age you moron.' Hei said this in a bored monotone voice as if saying duh.

 

By this point Sango is looking confused as these two kept talking. Pretty soon they were circling each other. `Well,' she thought to herself. `they don't seem interested in me anymore, might as well let these two fight it out. Besides it's usually easier to only have to fight one demon at a time instead of two. Sango, keeping her defensive stance proceeded to look and study these two as they kept taunting each other.

 

 

The taunt that Hei threw at Higaro succeeded in confusing him and left a perfect opening for Hei. Faster than you could blink Hei zoomed in and punched Higaro in the face and then a swift kick towards Higaro's abdomen which propelled him into a tree.

 

Higaro caught so unawares crashed into the tree and then pretended to faint. Just waiting to see if Hei would fall for his trap.

 

Hei, knowing Higaro so well, knew that this was no more than just a tap and in no way could this have knocked him out so fast.

 

`Stop faking, Icee, we both know that it takes more than this to even make a dent on that mug you call a face.' Hei taunted Higaro, as if daring to make a liar out of him.

 

Slowly rising and gently checking his jaw to make sure his face was alright Higaro responded, `How right you are Hei, I just didn't want to make you look back in front of your girlfriend. She's beautiful by the way, congratulations.'

 

This remark brought a deep blush to the young demon's face. It also got a startled `I am no one's girlfriend, especially not his.' From a bright red Sango. If it were possible Hei's face got even redder.

 

Totally embarrassed Hei responded, `What makes you think I would take a weakling such as her as my girlfriend, she means nothing to me.'

 

`WHO ARE YOU CALLING A WEAKLING YOU SHORTY!' Sango shouted and tossed her Hiratsu at Hei as she lost her temper.

 

Hei, after hearing her say this yelled back `SHUT UP YOU STUPID WOMAN' and was then knocked down by Sango's Hiratsu.

 

He heard Higaro laughing at this followed by the sound of someone being knocked down. `Damn woman what was that for.' Hei demanded as he quickly got up and rubbed his head where Sango's Hiratsu made contact. He then looked towards Higaro and saw that he was in the same situation. They were both only concentrating on each other and forgot that Sango was still armed and waiting. But the sight of Higaro being caught so unawares brought a smirk to Hei's face.

 

`What's wrong Higaro, did you lose your footing?' Hei asked innocently.

 

`Shut up Hei,' Higaro responded back. `I don't see why your amused, she got you first.'

 

`Exactly Moron, that should have given you warning to prepare yourself. But then you were to busy laughing to properly defend yourself. That was always your problem, you were always to easily distracted.' Hei said with some disgust.

 

`Damn, Hei can't you ever just forget the past. It wasn't my fault, I had no choice.' Higaro said with tiredness and regret in his voice.

 

`You always have a choice, you always just take the easy ones.' Hei responded back coldly. `and Damn the consequences.'

 

`That's not true Hei, I truly had no choice, if I didn't…' Higaro stopped, he couldn't tell Hei the truth, not yet. The stubborn fire demon wouldn't believe him.

 

`Didn't what, don't stop now finish it.' Hei paused and waited for Higaro to say something. `I didn't think so.'

 

Sango cleared her throat to get their attention. `Excuse me but is going on here.' Sango asked. `not that I mind if you two kill each other but could you hurry it up. I would like to break camp before the sun sets you know.'

 

`You could always leave Human.' Higaro threw at her.

 

`I would but I need to exterminate a certain demon responsible to the ruin of at least four villages.' Sango threw back. `And if I'm not mistaken that is you isn't it.'

 

Higaro made a circling motion with his right hand and at the same time slightly bowed at the waist. `At your service madam. Though why you would want to avenge that scum I cannot guess.'

 

`Scum, you kill and destroy four entire villages, ridding them of even innocent women and children and you dare call them scum.' Sango retorted with rage and disgust in her voice.

 

`Yes Higaro I would like you to explain this one to me also' Hei added `it just doesn't seem like something you would do considering you used to be fond of these weaklings.'

 

Higaro drew in a deep breathe, `Well first off, I did not kill any women or children, I just scared them off. Secondly, those idiot villagers were trying to hide some traitors. I did try to reason with them, but they didn't seem to understand.'

 

`Traitors?' Hei asked intrigued.

 

`Yes Hei, traitors, because of these humans that we had sworn to protect many of my comrades fell. Even some of our own women and children were killed.' Higaro said with a touch of rage, anger, and hatred in his voice. `Unlike those traitors, I left their women and children live. They brought it upon themselves.'

 

Hei paled at hearing that some women and children died. `How about her Higaro, does she still live.' He bit off stiffly, afraid of the answer.

 

Understanding what Hei was asking, `Yes Hei Yukina is fine, Thanks to kami she was not home when we were raided.' Higaro finished the last gently.

 

Sango thought back to the villages she had passed and remembered only seeing dead men, but no women or children, concluded that maybe he was telling her the truth.

 

`Will you still destroy more villages.' Sango asked. She is willing to let them be but not if it meant more killing, Kami forgive her she was tired of seeing so many suffer.

 

`Do not worry your beautiful self any more, the traitors have all been dealt with, there is no need for me to concern myself with these humans anymore.' Higaro said humans with a touch if disgust in his voice.

 

`Hey I am human, do you have a problem with me, if so then maybe we can settle this.' Sango responded back with a touch of temper.

 

`But you my dear are special, especially to have caught the interest of my little friend here.' Higaro said gesturing towards Hei.

 

`I am not you friend Icee.' Hei coldly responded back.

 

Higaro wiggled his eyebrows and spoke to Sango. `See he doesn't deny that you have caught his interest. My oh my, is little Hei blushing,…………..why I don't believe I have ever seen him so red before in my life.'

 

Hei was indeed blushing but then so was Sango. Sango, no longer having to worry about fighting these two had been looking at Hei and had starting noticing how very beautiful he was. Well beautiful in a manly way.

 

Upon hearing that she had caught his interest started Sango thinking as to how could this man know her. To her recollection they had never met. But then she started remembering all those times during the past several weeks when she could have sworn she was feeling another presence. But then that feeling quickly disappeared making her feel as if she had just imagined it. As she started thinking about this, she quickly remembered that a lot of those feelings came when she was bathing or lying naked next to the camp fire drying off. As she was taking all this in Sango was quickly turning red.

 

`YOU HENTAI!' Sango yelled and quickly ran over to Hei and hit him with all her strength with her Hiratsu on his Hei.

 

Poor Hei wasn't expecting this. He had started turning red when Higaro started telling Sango about his interest in her. When all of a sudden he heard Sango yelling that he was a hentai. Suffice it to say he was definitely not suspecting to be attacked. So when he turned to look at Sango he quickly felt something make contact with his head and then saw nothing. Poor Hei was knocked unconscious by a furious Sango. This seems to be a rocky beginning to a beautiful relationship.

*night time*

 

Sango had set up camp a couple of hours ago. She sat on a log with Kirara on her lap and was just looking at Hei. He still hadn't woken up and Sango was starting to feel a bit guilty. `It's not as if I had proof, I mean I could have been mistaken.' Sango said to herself for what seemed the umpteenth time. After she had knocked Hei unconscious Higaro starting laughing hysterically until Sango threatened to do the same thing to him. That promptly got him to shut up, but he had been giving her injured looks ever since.

 

Higaro has stayed with her so that he could make sure `the little twerp didn't hurt himself when he fell down.' Though he didn't mention knock on the head Sango delivered. Higaro had briefly left to go on a walk, mumbling something about temperamental women underneath his breath. But when asked what he was talking about he just responded `nothing.'

 

`I wonder what the deal with those two is.' She thought to herself. `They were definitely sending mixed signals. One moment they sounded like old friends and the next it's as if they didn't know each other.

 

Hei was at that moment waking up to an excruciating headache. He let out a small whimper as he started to sit up, only to feel someone's hand on his chest putting back down.

 

`you might not want to get up yet. Here drink this, it should help with that headache your feeling.' A feminine voice said from above him. And helped him to drink down something bitter.

 

`She sounds like an angel' Hei thought foggily to himself. After he had drunk what the woman said.

 

`Now just relax you should be feeling better within a few minutes.' The voice continued softly.

 

Sango was looking down at Hei waiting for the pain to subside in his head. `Well' she thought with a grimace, `it's time to find out what this guy has to say about getting hit by my Hiratsu.

 

Hei starting feel better slowly opened his only to receive a pleasant shock of seeing Sango kneeling beside him. `Her eyes are so beautiful' he thought to himself. Then the memory of being hit by her Hiratsu came swiftly back to him. He swiftly stood up, only to moan and put a hand to his head as his headache hadn't completely vanished yet.

 

`What are you doing getting up that fast you idiot.' Sango said worriedly.

 

`What do you think you were doing hitting me with that thing.' Hei countered back angrily.

 

`Well were you or were you not the one who was spying on me these last few weeks.' Sango said turning bright red.

 

Not thinking clearly as of yet Hei retorted, `Of course it was, who else did you think it was you idiot woman.'

 

Higaro having just walked into the camp in time to hear Hei asking why he was hit on the head, was not shaking his head in contempt. `Hei you idiot you just dug your own grave.' He said softly.

 

`Oh and did you also spy on me while I was bathing.' Sango said sweetly with an evil look entering her eyes.

 

`Well duh woman.' Hei responded back only to feeling his world turning black again as Sango once again his him over the head with her Hiratsu. `Not again Hei thought as he slipped into darkness yet again.'

 

`Oh no what have I done.' Sango asked herself a bit chagrined to find herself having lost her temper yet again.

 

`What is it with me and hentai's. First the monk and now this man. Oh kami, why can't I ever attract a normal man. Sango asked herself.

 

Higaro having seen Sango knock Hei unconscious said, `Do you think it fair to accuse someone who was clearly not in his right mind.'

 

Sango cringed at hearing this, but mumbled `He started it.'

 

`Oh so that makes it okay.'

 

`Shut up or do you want to join him.' Sango retorted back.

 

Higaro, with a scared look upon his face put his hands up as if saying I surrender, and decided that maybe another walk in the forest may be a good idea. Besides, there is nothing I can do now since Hei is bound to sleep a while now. Certainly can't protect him from his own dumb mouth.

 

Sango watched Higaro leave for another walk in the forest.

`well,' she thought to herself, `might as make him comfortable, he's bound to wake up with a powerful headache in the morning.' She then made a pillow out of her bag and put it under Hei's head.

 

`I just hope you don't decide to try to kill me in my sleep.' Sango said quietly in the night as she prepare to sleep near him, just incase he should awaken. Goodnight Hei. He is handsome when he sleeps though. Sango thought as she drifted into sleep.

Well what do you think so far. As you can tell Hei and Higaro do know each other. But when, where, and why? Can't tell yet. But will slowly bring the past up to speed between these two. For those of you who don't know, Yukina is Hei's half sister and is an ice demon, which is why Higaro knows her. Thinking of a Yukina and Higaro pairing later on but not just yet. Higaro needs to get on Hei's good side first and so far he can't seem to stop taunting him. Not off to a good start. Well will try to have a lemon later on another chapter. Though I do need help before I do. How do elemental demons mate. Is it the same as if Inuyasha or sesshomaru were to mate or is it different. Need to know. Thanx.
