Botan started unplugging her ears with her fingers. “Why does everyone yell when I tell them that?” She then opened a portal. “Well are you coming or not?” and went in.

“Oh well, might as get this over with. Ladies first.” Miroku said with a smirk.

Sango just pushed him in and went inside after him.

Chapter 9

As Sango stepped into the portal, she found herself stepping into a small room. The first thing she noticed was a big desk overflowing with stack upon stacks of paper. Sango and Miroku were looking around the room, taking the light baby blue walls with yellow duckies painted upon the walls.

“Uh Botan, where are we?” Sango asked.

“Indeed my Lady, It looks as if we are in some kind of Nursery. Of not for that desk I would assume this is a baby's room.” Miroku stated.

Botan started laughing and was having trouble trying to stop.

“Botan if you could please restrain yourself I believe introductions are in order.” A baby dressed in blue with a pacifier in his mouth said.

“EEEeep possessed baby!!” Sango exclaimed.

“Demon be gone” Miroku said and proceeded to throw a sutra at the baby's head. Then started a chant as the sutra started to glow blue. Once Mirokue finished there was still a baby standing there behind the desk. Only this time the bby was fuming with his arms crossed across his chest. Sango's mouth had gone wide with shock during this whole exchage, while Botabn was now on the floor rolling around with laughter.

“Uh your not possessed are you?” Miroku asked sheepishly while scratching the back of his head as if saying `My Bad'.

“Quite true. Now Botan if you would please control yourself I believe that introductions `ARE' in order.” The baby said.

“Yes sir” Botan jumped up. “Miroku, Sango this is Prince Koenma my boss and the prince of the Spirit Realm.” Pointing towards the baby.

“Boss!?!?” Sango and Miroku exclaimed.

“But he's just a baby.” Sango said.

“I'll have you know Lady Sango that I am over one hundred years old.” Koenma stated. “Well time to get to the point I believe.”

“As you may have already guessed Demons and Humans have been separated. There are now three different realms instead of just tow. Where before there was just the Spirit Realm and the realm in which humans and demons coexisted there is now the Nigenki, which is the human Realm. The spirit Realm, which is the Realm in which I reside and the souls of the dead are taken to. And finally but not least there is the Makai, where the demons now inhabit. Now for the reason I have asked you here. It has come to my attention that we need help in protecting the barrier which separates the Makai from the Nigenki(sp). It appears that it was arrogant of us to assume that the demons would just stay in the Makai.' Konma said.

Sango was listening to this as patiently and as calmly as possible. “So Prince Koenma `You' are the reason that humans and demons are now separated?”

“Sorry Sango, but I do not have that kind of power as of yet. My father along with the ehlp of a very powerful demon lord were able to make this separation. This was no easy decision and took many decades before it was finally decided upon.”

“If I may ask, Prince Koenma, what happened to the human mates of these demons and to the hanyou's (sp)?”

“yes, Prince Koenma. I also would like to know what become of them?” Miroku added.

“After this decision become final all of the half demons were sent to the Makai, unless given special permission to stay. Those who appeared human or were powerful enough to mask their appearance to look human and had sworn to co-exist with the humans peacefully were allowed to stay. They were given few rules in which they had to abide by if they wished to stay. Now you must understand after the decision become final I did not have much time to approach all humans that were mated to demons. I tried to reach as many as possible to offer an alternative or different choices that could be made. Those I could reach I was able to give them the choice to either stay in nigenki and allow their mates to visit them for one month every ten years or they could go to live in the Makai with their mates.” Koenma finished.

“Just how many human mates were you able to find?” Sango asked.

Koenma sighed. “Unfortunately I was able to contact all of them except for one. I still do not kwon the real identity of this human. She is mate to the forbidden child. Every time I believed we finally found her, it turned out that they had just left the area. I will always regret not being able to find her. She will have the same lifespan as her mate and will live for a long time, that is unless she chooses to end her own life or is killed.” Koenma paused and looked as if he really did regret not being able to find this woman.

“Now what I am asking of you will not be the easiest of jobs. It may also include more than just fighting demons but I do need your help. I know you are under the protection of the Guardian of time and that there is a great evil we must fight against. So we must prepare and be ready. When the time comes I can help you find your friend.” Koenma went on.

“How did you know about that?” Miroku asked.

“oh did I forget to mention that the Guradian of time is actually the Goddess of Time……..My mother.”

“WHAT?!?!” Sango and Miroku both yelled.

“I do believe you failed to mention that.” Sango said.

“Indeed you did.” Miroku added on.

“Well that's beside the point. Will you two take the job?” Koenma asked.

Miroku sighed. “Well Sango, it's not as if we have anything better to do?”

“You may be right houshi.” Sango turned towards “Prince Baby we take the job.” Sango smirked as she said this. Just because she was agreeing to take the job didn't mean she had to like it.

“Thank you. Now about what will be expected of you…..” Koenma paused as his mind finally caught up with what Sango had called him. “My name is KOENMA NOT BABY!!”

“Hn. Whatever………” Sango said then paused. “Baby.” And then she smirked knowing that this would annoy the baby.

“I think that what Sango means is that as long as you are in that baby form she will see you as a baby. You must gain her respect if you wish for her to call you anything else other than `Baby'. Prince Baby.” Miroku Smirked. From what he had seen so far of the Prince Baby, Miroku didn't quite respect him. That and the fact that when the baby lost his temper it was actually quite amusing.

Koenma sighes. If his mother hadn't been so adamant about his needing their help he wouldn't have to put up with such disrespect. But if he goes against his mother's wishes he'll probably receive some severe spanking from his father and that is never good.

“Very well.” He said in resignation. “Now as I was saying……………”

And that is how Sango and Miroku became the very first Spirit Dectives for Prince Koenma (cough cough Baby) of the Spirit Realm.
