Last time:
Skye burst through the edge of the forest and stumbled down into the stream. She fell to her knees for a moment, gasping for air. She threw some water over her face quickly and then stood, and stumbled forward into a light run in to the direction of the fading light.
- Back at the clearing -
“Hiei, was the hell was that?” Kurama snorted as he slowly regained his footing.
“Kurama, that girl is running from us again, she's got something I need. And that my friend was the Black Dragon helping her.” Hiei spoke calmly as if nothing fazed him. “We'll catch up with her soon, right now we should rest.” He declared as he swung his halberd and sunk it in the earth.
Skye ran hard into the night, staying in the stream, bounding over fallen logs and rocks. She began to forget the pain of her burning lungs and legs. She needed to be safe to rest.
`Skye, rest now, stay close to the water, up ahead there is an embankment, sit down and rest, being exhausted isn't going to help us.' Tetsu softly spoke to her.
`I am not talking to you until I see first daylight, so shut up Tetsu!' She snorted to herself. No sooner had she said those words that the very first light of the morning sun was peeking out from behind the mountains. Skye groaned and she watched the sunlight fill the valley. She finally slowed to a light jog as Tetsu piped up.
`Now will you talk to me?'
`Forget it Tetsu, I don't wantto hear your words of wisdomright now. If that red dragon scout was right we should be near the border of the hanyou's village, and we should be just about clear of the wolves'territory.'
Skye thought hard, trying to gauge the distance she ran in the night. She thought, no she hoped she was right or close to right. She didn't like the sounds of what a wolf youkai was, if the were anything like her native grey wolves from Canada, she would be in trouble. She was deep in thought and didn't notice the root hidden under the water surface. She ignored Tetsu's warnings as her foot caught just at the right time, sending her flying forward, and face first in the water.
Skye sputtered water from her mouth as she raised her head just up out of the water. She freed her foot and brought her knees up under her, and sat back on her haunches. The cool water felt nice on her legs as she breathed deep, refueling her system. She began to crawl over to the bank of the stream as Tetsu piped up.
`Skye, lay low, something is coming.'
`Who care Tetsu.' She snorted and laid down on the bank. The sun was now up over the mountain, the cool water on her legs and the warm sun on her back began to lull her into drowsiness.
`5 minutes Tetsu' she groaned as she laid her head down on the clover patch under her head. The scent of warm clover made her eyes close and slip into an exhausted sleep.
*~meanwhile upstream~*
Kouga slipped down to the stream, which was close to the pack's den, to wash up for the morning and for a long drink. Just as he crouched down to slip his hands into the water, he breathed deep. The scent caught his attention, as he stood up and breathed deeper pinpointing the source. He climbed back up the bank and slowly walked down stream. His eyes watching everything that moved, looking for the source.
Just as he rounded the corner of the stream, he glimpsed down not thinking of anything, and that is when he saw the figure, half in the stream, laying in the morning sun, sleeping. He raced down to her and noticed that this was the scent he smelt.
He slowly rolled her over, taking note of her strange clothes. She wore red and black leather motocross pants, a red tank top, sliver chains around her neck and waist, black and red leather forearm guards. He slowly picked her up out of the stream, and when she whimpered, he froze. She was still out cold; he carefully picked her up and held her close as he broke out into a run to the packs' den.
Ginta and Hakkaku where the first to notice Kouga's return. They followed him silently into the back of the cave, and sniffed the girls scent as he laid her down on his bed.
“Ah, Kouga? Who is she? She looks different, like Sister did when we first met her.” Ginta stated. Hakkaku nodded with Ginta, who was also giving the girl a questioning gaze.
“I don't know who she is; I found her downstream, asleep, half in the stream. She looks like she's been running most of the night.” He said gruffly as he looked her over.
“Maybe we should take her to sister, she might know her. If anything she would be able to help her better than we could.” Hakkuka spoke quietly, trying to make it not obvious that he was advising Kouga. Kouga nodded as he covered the girl. He watched as she snuggled further down in the bed and mumbled, “Thanks Kodiak.”
Kouga stood up from kneeling near the girl and grabbed Ginta and Hakkuka and headed out of the cave. They went about business as usual, with Kouga checking in on the girl every once in awhile. They were half way through lunch as a scream pierced the serene silence and echoed out of Kouga's den.
Kouga ran into the cave and found the girl pressed up against the back wall, frantically looking around, trying to figure out where she was, and then she spotted him. She released her grip on the wall and ran towards him.
“Kodiak! Oh thank god! I was having the worst nightmare.” She breathed out as she clung to Kouga for dear life. He went to interrupt her, but she broke down, sobbing. “God Kodiak, you have no idea how relieved I am to see you. This dream was totally fucked up, apparently in the dream, I was back in feudal Japan,” She snorted, “And I had a freaking dragon spirit named Tetsu inside my head, hunters after me and I was headed into a territory ruled by wolf youkai something or other.”
`Ah Skye, it's not a dream. Stay calm, we're in the wolf pack leaders den.' Tetsu quietly interrupted.
Skye froze, her eyes darted around and she slowly backed away from Kouga. She let a small whimper slip out as she backed further away from Kouga. He let her retreat, and then he spoke.
“Stay calm, you're in no danger here.” He quietly and calmly spoke; he didn't know how this girl would react. He looked her right in the eye and locked his gaze. Green locked with wild hazel. She broke the gaze and she looked over his shoulder. Instantly he smelt the panic on her, rolling off of her like waves on a beach. He slowly turned his head and looked over his should where he saw two wolves from his pack. He was about to send them away as Skye screeched, “Oh my god! Greys! Oh fuck no!”
The wolves started growling low at her and got louder as they watched her take a few shuriken from her left forearm guard and unhook her Manriki Gusari from around her waist. Kouga growled then barked at the wolves to back away slowly and leave.
He turned back to Skye who was crouched against the wall, watching his every move. Two of the throwing stars between her fingers waiting for him to make a wrong move or say something.
“You're not Kodiak, who are you?” she questioned Kouga as she locked eyes on him.
“My name is Kouga.” He said quietly. “I am the leader of this pack.”

Weaponry Terminology
Shuriken - throwing stars (ninja weaponry)
Manriki Gusari - a length of chain weighted at both ends. Used well it was spun with great force and was capable of causing significant blows or entangling an opponent. It was highly concealable, being easily hidden under a sash. It was also very cheap and easy to make.
