Into the Gekkou

Warning: Language

A/N: My ideas for this story are thining, so thats why its short. While i was shifting though my book of spells, my brain hatched this chapter idea. Though how it came up with this while i was reading on healing spells is beyond me.

The official paring is Kuro/Kag/Youko, deal with it. I have plans for Reimei, though they're not very happy ones. :3

Also, sorry for the bunched together words on chapter 1-4, i cant fix it. -_-''

-Chapter ten: when everything goes wrong-
::Two days after the first murder::

"There was another murder,"

Kagome sipped on her tea, "When?"

"Sometime this morning, the elders are tying to keep it hush hush." Kazoku said, sitting back.

Kagome nodded, sitting down her cup. "Was it bad?"

He shook his head, "No, just a few bruises on her neck, indicating she was strangled and a few bite marks along her neck and shoulders."

"Who?"

"Asagi, she used to babysit you when you were younger."

She bowed her head, "Why is this happening?"

"I don't know, but Reimei and I have to leave. We're needing more supplies for the village, I volunteered to go, Reimei's just coming along for the ride." He looked to her, seriousness on his face. "Not in a million years would I have ever thought I would say this, but I want you to stay close to the thieves, Kagome. I'm fearing for your safety now that all this is happening. Something deep down is telling me to trust them, can I trust them?"

Kagome looked him in the eye, "Yes, you can. I do."

"You love them," he said softy, and Kagome wasn't really sure he had said it at all.

"No I don't." she said quickly, hoping her voice was betraying her thoughts.

He gave a small smile. "You cant lie to your father, Kagome. Or have you forgotten I know what your thinking?"

"You don't know what I'm thinking, not when it comes to men anyways."

Kazoku snorted, but he agreed. "I know you'll do whats right, just be careful and please stay in the village. I'm leaving within the hour, I'm going to go pack. Why don't you head on over to the koumori's place, ehh?" he stood, gesturing for her to do so too.

She complied, pulling him into a hug. She whispered an 'I love you' and left him to do his packing.

'It's around noon, so they should be up', Kagome thought as she walked up onto the porch. She raised her hand to knock on the wood, but stopped short when she heard some rustling in the bushes. Her face contorted in confusion and she jumped off the porch, her body tense, waiting for battle if need be. Reimei stepped out of the foliage, a grin on his face. Kagome sighed/growled and let her muscles go limp.

"Jumpy?" he asked, stalking forward. Kagome almost took a step back, he looked different.

"No," she answered, her face blank, betraying nothing. "but I can never be to sure who will attack."

He smirked, a wind coming in to rustle his hair; swishing it across his face. "You don't have to be afraid of me, Ka-go-me." His eyes glowed green. Then, he was suddenly upon her.

She didn't even have a chance to scream before her world went black.

Youko and Kuronue made their way down the path towards Kagome's hut. Confusion and worry plaguing their minds. Kagome usually comes by every morning. When it was past two o'clock, they decided to see what was up.

Kuronue gave a short tap to the wood beside the bamboo mat, then pushed it aside, his eyes searching for Kagome. She wasn't there, but her father was. He looked up from his bags, confused.

"What are you doing here? Where's Kagome?" he asked, standing straighter, arms crossing.

"What?" Youko voiced Kuronue's thoughts, "We haven't seen her, that's why we came. She's usually at our door first thing in the morning."

Kazoku frowned, "I sent her to your home over an hour ago. I'm leaving to the city for supplies, i wanted her to stay with you, so she would be safe. With all the killings, she would know better than to wander around."

To say the three were worried, well, that would be and understatement.

"What?!"

'Kami, what hit me?'

Was Kagome's only thought as she sat up, groaning in pain. Her head was pounding, and she didn't dare open her eyes, the room was spinning enough as it is. The dizzy-ness soon passed, leaving a killer headache. She tried to stand, only to be pulled down by the shackled attached to her ankles.

That's when she started to panic.

Her eyes snapped open and her hands flew to her legs. The room was dark, but with her advanced sight, she could make out was was a few feet ahead of her. The room, from what she could see, was made of stone, a perfect, cliché holding cell. She was surprised when she didn't see any caged up skeletons. But she wasn't getting her hopes up...

She was sitting on a smelly futon, she didn't even want to know how many dead bodies have had laid on it. She would have scooted off of it, but the cuffs killed that dream. The air itself smelled of sulfur, coals and burning wood. Which, wasn't all that bad, Kagome guessed. She, for once, was glad for her hanyou sense of smell.

Her eyes drifted back to the shackles, glaring at them, hoping that they would shrink away from her heated stare. No such luck. But, her head snapped up in thought, what about Reimei? 'Was..was he the one who did this?' she asked herself.

No answer.

He was the one who hit her, knocked her out cold, right? No, she shook her head, that wasn't him. His eyes, they weren't his usual light red, they were aqua in color, but she didn't realize that until it was too late. Her eyes flashed, cold, hard. What did they do to the real Reimei? She wasn't so sure she liked the answer her mind gave her.

Then, light filtered though the room and the door banged up against the wall, vibrating the floors with its impact. She squinted her eyes at the glare of the hall way light and growled deep in her throat at the sound of footsteps.

Two guards entered the room to stand by the door, arms clasped behind their backs, faces giving nothing away. A figure walked in front of the door, blocking the light from her squinting eyes. She glared harshly at the unnamed man, only to receive a laugh in return.

Kagome gasped gently, "Reimei?"

"Who?" the figure said, stepping closer, revealing a face, Reimei's face. "Ohh, you mean the one i took this skin from? Reimei, yes, he put up quite a fight, my dear koumori." ocean eyes glinting is sadistic humor.

"What did you do to him, you sick fuck?" she spat, emotions getting the best of her. Inside, her heart breaking at the already known truth.

He tsked at her, coming to a stop just a few inches from her. "I cant take the form of someone who isn't already dead. I think that just about sums up what i did to your dear childhood friend, now doesn't it?" he took a step back as Kagome lashed out, her claws just shy of shredding his face. He chuckled, "You wouldn't want to hurt your Reimei's precious skin, would you?"

Kagome clinched her teeth as the mans image--Reimei's image--shimmered, morphing into another being. Now stood a taller man than Reimei, dressed in black leather. Silver hair coming to stop at his lower back, framing a handsome face, delicate, feminine features. Eyes the color of the sky and grass mixed together to create the perfect turquoise. Sharp, pearl colored fangs glinted from a smirking mouth. Kagome hated him already.

He bowed low, sliver hair sweeping the ground. He looked to her scowling face from under thick, black lashes. "Kyuuketsuki, at your service. Well," he laughed airily, "more like, the one you'll be serving."

"I serve no one but myself!" Kagome barked, pulling at her shackles. She called forth her power of fire, then stared disbelieving at her hands when nothing happened. Kyuuketsuki's chuckled had her head snapping up once more.

"Dear, I have been watching you for quite sometime now, do you not think i know of you power of fire and purification? Though i must confess, finding someone to make those bindings was a hard task." he patted her head, as though she was a child not knowing what it she did wrong.

"Don't touch me!"

He ignored her shout, turned and started to walk from the cell. "Be good, my little taiyou, and i might move you to a more comfortable place."

"What so you want from me?" Kagome cried out just as he was closing the door.

He blinked, then smiled a small smile. "You will find out soon enough, my mate."

Kagome clinched her hands tight, drawing blood. Then she went lax, sagging against the wall behind her. Reimei was dead.

Dead.
Dead.
Dead.

The thought played through her mind like a broken record, over and over and over again, mocking her. Taunting her. She shook her head violently, no! She refused to believe that her best friend was gone. She glared daggers at the door. She would kill this Kyuuketsuki, and she would find her friend and get the hell out of here.
If it was the last thing she did.
and if her judging of power level was any good, she was sure it just might be true.
