The Next Week

 

Kagome had attended the funerals and was feeling very crummy. `Why oh why did I have to lose the both?' she thought.

She was on the couch watching Ella Enchanted, the part where Ella had to kill Prince Charmont was on. `At least she gets around the spell. I could have saved Inuyasha if I was still in my time that way he wouldn't have gotten hit with my arrow. And I wasn't there when Yoko died so if I was there I could have saved him. I as good as killed them both; well I did kill Inuyasha so both their deaths are my fault.'

`Stupid wench, it wasn't your fault and you know it.' Said a familiar voice in her head.

`Go away Hiei, I'm not in the mood.' Hiei thought that she was hopeless and left her alone.

The doorbell rang and she got up to see who it was, Yuske was at the library studying and her mom was at the store with Sota so she was home alone. “Yuske? Don't you have a key?” asked Kagome as she opened the door.

“Yes but.” He showed her a hole in his pocket. Kagome smiled and held up the key then shut the door. “Kagome!” yelled Yuske.

“This will teach you to listen to mom!” and she went back to the movie. A minuet later a bucket of water dumped on her head.

“And that'll teach ya to pull a fast one on your bro.” he said as he held up a spare key. He settled on the couch near the one Kagome was on.

A moment later Kagome broke the silence. “Yuske? Why do we fall in love?” Yuske fell off of the couch at the question. She sounded like a small child asking `where do babies come from?'

“Why do ya ask?” he asked as he got back on the couch.

“Because if you fall in love you tend to get your heart broken so what's the point in loving in the first place?” then she got up and went outside.

“Poor Kag she must have gotten heart broken more that once. And losing two people in one day is too much.” He said to himself.

She sat under the Goshinboku tree thinking and wishing. “Kagome.”

“Suichi.” She looked up in surprise. He sat next to her. “I know how you feel.”

“You do?” she asked.

“Yes I thought I had lost someone too, a long time ago.”

“Wait `thought'?” she said bewildered. He nodded.

“I found her not to long ago, the day I met you in fact.”

“Who was it?” he smiled. He placed her in his lap and held her the way Yoko did the day of her transformation.

“You.” He said simply. Tears fell from her eyes. "I love you Kagome." Whispered Kurama in her ear. She slowly stood up and turned.

"Suichi I'm not what I seem, I have been lying to you I haven't been sick, or on vacation, I'm not even human anymore." He stood up.

"What do you mean Kagome?" he asked suddenly very concerned. A pink and white light surrounded her when it dimmed she was a Fox demon. She turned to him with teary eyes.

"I don't blame you if you never want to talk to me again, I just wanted you to know." She started to walk away when a hand on her shoulder stopped her.

"Kagome, nothing you could do would ever make me think differently of you. I stand by what I said, I love you and nothing can change that." Stated Kurama as he pulled her into an embrace.

"But why?" she asked.

"Because love is stronger that anything." He whispered.

"I Lov...” but she didn't finish because at that time she screamed in pain! She collapsed to her knees panting for air and clutching her stomach.

"Kagome! Are you all right?" asked Kurama as he came to her level.

Yuske came rushing out at her scream. "Kagome! What happened?" he asked.

"I don't (pant) know!" she screamed again. Beads of sweat were forming on her forehead.

Suddenly Kurama picked her up. "We've got to get her inside and figure out what is happening." He said as he headed inside.

"Ya know this is just a hunch but I think Genkai might know what's going on." Said Yuske.

"She just might, can you get a hold of her?"

"Better than that, she lives not too far away, I'll go get her." Then Yuske rushed off to get Genkai.

Kurama rushed inside and laid her on her bed, then wetted a cloth and placed it on her forehead. "Hold on Kagome. We'll find out what's wrong."

A while later Genkai and Yuske came up. "So this is her?" she asked.

"Yes."

"Yuske, whose there?" asked Kagome in a small voice it was hard for her to talk cause she was in pain.

"Don't worry Kagome, she won't hurt you."

"She is a priestess; her body is trying to reject the demonic side of her though it may kill her if her body doesn't accept it." Said Genkai a minuet later.
