The Next Morning

Kagome awoke with her head pounding. `My head feels like a ton of bricks landed on it.' She thought clutching her head.

`Well what do you expect? You had quite a night, luckily your body accepted the demonic side of your or else you'd be in the spirit world right now.'

`Hiei? Is that what happened? Well all I can say is why me?'

`Heh. You're getting some good mileage out of that word.'

`Go pester someone else.'

`But you're so fun to mess with.'

`Hiei!' And with that she closed off the line.

“You okay?” asked Yuske as he entered the room.

“Yeah just my head hurts, big time.”

“Here. Take this it'll help.” Said Yuske as he handed her some aspirin and a cup of water. She downed it and stood up only to fall back down on the bed.

“Whoa, careful you had a rough night. You don't want to get up too fast.” He warned.

“Kagome, you're awake.” Said Kurama as he entered the room, he had stayed the night he was worried about Kagome.

“Yeah, but I don't know if I really am or not though.” She joked, she had always said that when her legs just didn't want to move in the morning.

Yuske left the room with out being noticed. “Are you feeling alright?”

“Yes, I'm fine.” She sat on the bed and bowed her head.

“Suichi you don't know how lucky you are.”

“What do you mean Kagome?”

“What I mean is you wake up to your mother, you go to school barley missing a day, you have friends that you don't make worry about you all the time, you don't make your family worry, you have a normal life.” She cried as she said this.

“Then tell me what life you have.” He said caringly.

“I would wake up to a stubborn, arrogant, half demon, I would miss days of school at a time, I make my friends and family worry, all the girls think I'm a freak, I don't have a normal life, I am a demon I'm a freak my life is anything but normal, I would trade my life for yours any day.” Kurama sat on the bed next to her and wrapped his arms around her.

“You're not a freak, you're just different. There is nothing wrong with that. And my life isn't normal either. I'm a spirit detective; I work for Koenmma the prince of the spirit world. I too have demonic powers, you're not alone.” Tears continued falling from her eyes.

“Suichi I love you.” She whispered.

“I love you too.” He replied. He put his hand on her chin and lifted her head up, leaned in and they kissed.

`Kagome,' Said Hiei in her head after she and Kurama broke apart.

`What?'

`You need to come with me.'

`Why?'

`My employer wants a word with you.'

`Hey you have a little tude going on here.'

`People change in five hundred years.'

`Okay, so when do I need to go?'

“Now!” said Hiei who was now outside her window and was a little peeved. She just smirked happy to have pissed him off.

“So what employer do I have to see?” Hiei growled at her, she was asking way too many questions. “Well?” she asked with a sly grin.

He just rolled his eyes. “His name is Koenmma so are you coming or am I going to have to drag you there?” he was definitely pissed off.

“Look why do I have to go to him?”

“He wants to see you because of the power you were emitting.” Her demon form decided to make an appearance cause she was starting to get pissed.

“So I have to see this guy cause of certain reasons I don't know? And Hiei the part you told me was only part of what you were told. I know when people aren't telling everything.”

“You just love making my job harder don't you?”

“No cause your job is obviously to piss me off half the time or is that something you do for fun?” she shot back. She was standing with her arms crossed and her tail swishing fiercely back and forth.

“Kagome!” he growled.

“Hiei! NO! I am not going!” she yelled.

“Kagome, Koenmma won't do anything to hurt you.” Assured Kurama.

“Suichi I just, I'm not ready to show everybody what I am. Especially someone I don't know.” She said calmly. Hiei growled again. “HIEI STAY OUT OF MY MIND!” she shrieked.

He grinned. “So are you coming or will I have to force you?” He asked. She looked appalled.

“Hiei I will say this one more time, I Am Not GOING!” she yelled.

Suddenly in the middle of the room Koenma appeared he obviously was tired of waiting. “Hiei, I thought I told you to bring her to me not play around!” he stated.

“I tried, she was being stubborn.” She scoffed.

“Hiei why don't you go stick you head in a hole!” she said very peeved.

“So you are Kagome correct?” he asked

“Yes, who wants to know?”

“My name is Koenma, and you are in danger if you aren't careful.” She looked down on him.

“Look I know how to protect myself! And what danger am I in?” she asked her face softening a little.

“First of all were you always like this?”

“No.”

“And to you question I don't know yet but you emit a powerful aura.”

“What's all the yelling about?” asked Yuske who had just entered the room looking quite confused. “Koenma? What are you doing here?” asked Yuske.

“He's here cause she,” he pointed to Kagome. “Has you're stubborn qualities.” Snapped Hiei as he glared at Kagome.

“Do you know why I am a demon?” She asked.

“Yes I do. You always had demonic blood in you due to the fact that your father was a demon.

Suddenly a burning sensation ran through her forehead causing her to grip it. “Ow! Shit that hurts!” she seethed, trying to be quiet as she really didn't want to scream anymore that day.

Kurama started to go towards her but Koenmma stopped him. She took in several deep breaths but on her forearm and upper leg was another burning sensation. “Damn! What is happening?!?!” her voice rising by the second. Tears starting spilling from the pain.

“Koenmma what is happening to my sister?” yelled Yuske causing Koenmma's attention to turn to Yuske instead of Kurama.

Kurama was by her side in an instant. He noticed that she was shaking so he did what he could to calm her or at least draw her mind from the pain. He drew her to him and rested her head on his lap; he ran his hand through her hair which was gaining silver streaks in it. He whispered comforting words in her ear that now had silver tips like her tail, and her tail now had a few light silver streaks.

She was calming down bit by bit but not a lot; he figured the pain must be intense. He started rubbing the base of one of her ears with the pad of his thumb, she started purring startling Yuske. “She can purr?” he asked Koenmma.

“Yes she can, I will explain later.” Replied Koenmma.

Yuske looked at his sister and partner. `I know he will take good care of her but I swear if he hurts her I will kill him!' he thought `Though I doubt that he would ever hurt Kagome the way he's acting now.'

Slowly but surely she drifted to sleep. Kurama gently picked her up and put her on her bed. Now that they could see her face she had silver-red streaks on her cheeks and a crescent moon marking on her forehead that was red outlined with black.

Her outfit consisted of a short black skirt, a short sleeved black shirt with a white rose in the middle, and Saokos they were black with sliver streaks on the top and bottom.

Noticeable on her upper leg, (Forbidden territory that a man shouldn't touch unless you're married. ^_^) was a marking that had a silver crescent moon in the center with two short lines one coming from the top the other from the bottom, neither line was touching the moon shape.

“It is complete.” Koenmma said after a moment's silence.

“What's complete?” Asked Yuske.

“She has fully transformed.” He stated as it were obvious.

“If I am not needed I will go now.” Said Hiei as he left not leaving time for Koenmma to object.

“I too will leave as I have seen all I need to for now.” He said as he too left leaving Yuske, Kurama, and Kagome.

Yuske knew that Kurama wouldn't leave her side until she awoke so he quietly slipped out of the room.

Hiei: Can we just get this over with?

Tijiya: Oh can't you have any fun? Loosen up once in a while!

Hiei: Around you? No.

Tijiya: *sighs*
