Getting to know Kurama

Chapter 4

Kagome woke up to the feeling that she was drowning in ice cold water. This feeling had her quickly jumping out of bed. Once she was on her feet and slightly awake, she looked around for the culprit. The unfortunate culprit was a smirking Hiei holding an empty bucket.

“WHAT WAS THAT FOR?” Kagome yelled.

Hiei smirked. “you wouldn't wake up. If you don't hurry you'll be late for school.” He said simply.

“EEEeeeeeeeek!” Kagome screeched very loudly, hurting Hiei's ears. She then quickly grabbed her clothes and rushed into the shower.

Once she left the room, Hiei slowly walked towards her alarm clock and turned it off before it even had a chance to go off. Hn. Serves the onna right, for not looking at the time. Hiei thought to himself, while chuckling. It wasn't very often he was able to best her.

Now hopefully she'll rush to school not knowing about this, and I won't have to eat dirt this early in the morning. But it was worth it. Hiei thought to himself.

Kagome rushed out of the shower and quickly gathered up her stuff for school. She was quickly rushing and would have missed breakfast again if it weren't for Yukina.

“Kagome would you please eat breakfast with me. I made pancakes.” Yukina quickly called out.

“Sorry Yukina, I need to hurry or I'll be late for class again.” Kagome said quickly.

“But you have more than thirty minutes before class starts, and breakfast is already cooked.” Yukina calmly pointed out.

“What!?!” Kagome said, eyebrow twitching.

“Well, it seems you woke up early today. I didn't even hear your alarm clock go off, like it did the last time.” She explained calmly.

“Didn't go off?” Kagome asked dumbly. *Hiei?* Kagome said sweetly to the fire/ice demon.

“So will you eat with me. Oh, and before I forget I packed you lunch.”

*Hn.* Darn it Yukina. Hiei had heard the conversation between the two and was now dreading Kagome's reaction.

“Yukina, thank you so much. I would love to eat breakfast with you.” Kagome said sweetly.

*I overslept?* Kagome asked sweetly.

*Hn.* Hiei said, getting worried. For some reason he really didn't trust that sweet voice of hers.

*Okay. Thanks for waking me up.* If possible her voice got even sweeter.

“HMmmmmm. These are good Yukina.” Kagome said in a cheerful voice.

Hiei had just breathed in a sigh of relief thinking that she wouldn't retaliate. He had just started to relax when he heard the dreaded word.

*Down, down, down, down, down, down.* Kagome whispered into Hiei's mind. A loud thud could be heard outside.

“Yukina thank you so much for breakfast and preparing my lunch.” Kagome said cheerfully.

“No problem, I am just glad I could help. Do you think Hiei is alright? It sounds as if it really hurt this time.” Yukina asked worriedly. She may not know that Hiei is her brother, but she loves him as if he were.

“He's fine Yukina. As matter of fact he is too busy cursing, and threatening me right now.” Kagome said, as she listened in on Hiei's thoughts. He was just too controlled to outwardly curse or show too much emotion. Then a thought entered her mind. “Yukina, why don't you come `down' to school with me. I am sure you would enjoy the trip `down' there. Or we could go shopping at the `Down' and Up store, or the `down' town mall, or even go visit `Down' shopping plaza. I am sure it would be fun.” Kagome said sweetly.

Yukina, hearing a thud every time Kagome said `down', was quickly getting amused. She was sure Hiei had done something to deserve all those `downs'. Seeing as how Kagome usually didn't do that to him unless she was angry. “Yes, that's sounds like fun. Maybe we can go with the girls. You can finally meet my other friends.” She said excitedly. She really did like Kagome and wanted to introduce her to the other girls.

“That sounds like fun. We'll go when Genkai gives me a day off. Well, gotta go or I'll really be late for class.” Kagome said as she ran to school.

As soon as she reached school, she could feel the glares and stares from the students. Since she was wearing blue, she really was standing out. Her math class felt as if it was taking forever to finish. She could swear she understood what was being explained yesterday, but today it was like she the teacher discovered a whole different language. When art class finally began, Suichi escorted her to his desk where she received many glares from the girls. Apparently, Suichi was hands off to any and all girls. Not that Kagome cared. He was her friend, and she wasn't about to lose that friendship because of stupid high school girls.

Today they were asked to do a drawing, and they were allowed to use their color pencils to add color. “So Suichi, what are you planning to draw today.” Kagome asked curiously.

“I was thinking of drawing a garden of roses.” Suichi replied.

*What KIND of answer is that?* Youko asked. *You're making us sound girly.*

*Well I can't very well say, Kagome I would love to draw you.* Kurama replied calmly.

*And why not? I would rather have you draw her than any of those incompetent boys. They don't do her justice.* Youko whined.

*Exactly. I don't want Kagome to see me as just another boy. While they are all trying to get her attention by drawing her, I want to draw something else. You know, be unique.*

*Hmmm. Hadn't thought of it like that. Good boy.* Youko said.

*Problems fox?* Hiei butted in.

*How nice of you to drop in. How are you doing this morning?* Kurama asked. He hadn't heard from Hiei since last night. He was still puzzled about that math question.

*Hn.*

“So Kagome, what do you plan on drawing today. Another fox?” Suichi asked curiously.

“As a matter of fact, yes. I just can't seem to keep that image away. He is just too handsome. Plus those ears are a definite plus.” Kagome replied.

*She's perfect. Let's keep her.* Youko told Kurama.

“So what do you have planned for him this time?” Suichi asked curiously.

“Hmmm. I don't know. I haven't thought of anything yet.” Kagome replied. She knew she wanted to draw the fox again, but didn't really want to draw him in a dress.

*Hiei? Are you speaking to me yet?* Kagome asked, wondering if the little demon had gotten over what happened earlier.

*Hn.*

*I'll give you the sketch free and clear. Just talk to me already .* Kagome pleaded, she really, really, really hated being given the silent treatment. And when Hiei does it, it makers her feel even worse, seeing as how he doesn't really talk all that much anyways.

*You better.*

*You did deserve it. Anyways help me out here. What do I draw this time?* Kagome asked.

*Hn.* And sent her an image of Youko wearing blue sports bra and blue capri's. He also had something that looked like a green whip with thorns in one hand, while the other hand was resting over his hip.

*Hiei, that cruel. Do you have a grudge against the kitsune or what?* Kagome asked.

*Hn. Will you do it?* Hiei asked.

*Only on one condition.* Kagome said, coming up with something.

*What is it?* Hiei asked, dreading the answer.

*NEVER WAKE ME UP WITH A BUCKET OF WATER AGAIN!!!!* Kagome said threateningly.

*Deal.*

Kagome started her drawing. She first drew it with some pencil, then colored it in. She glanced over at Suichi's drawing, and was literally impressed. His drawing was so beautiful.

“Suichi, where do you come up with this stuff? It's so beautiful.” Kagome asked amazed.

“Thank you. I dream of these places.” Suichi humbly replied. In truth they were memories of places Youko had once been in. The place he was drawing of a garden Youko himself had fashioned, full of red roses. The roses were spectacular.

Kurama looked over Kagome's drawing and saw that she was indeed drawing Youko again. *Ask her what she did with her last sketch. I don't want that detective to get a hold of it.* Youko whined.

“I see you're drawing that kitsune again. May I enquire as to what you did with your last sketch of him?” Suichi asked.

“Huh, oh I gave it away.” Kagome replied a bit distractedly, she had really gotten into the drawing and was frantically drawing it out, trying to get everything she wanted onto to paper.

*What!?! Who did she give it to?* Youko asked.

“Who did you give it to?” Suichi asked, working on his own work.

“Hmm. Oh, my older brother wanted it.” Kagome answered still distracted.

“Oh.” Kurama said, while still working diligently on his own work.

*Stop coloring and find a way to get the sketch.* Youko demanded.

*Her brother has it. It is unlikely that the detective will see it.* Kurama said soothingly.

*Do you want to risk it?* Youko growled out.

“Why would your bother want it?” Suichi asked.

“Hmmm. He said something about annoying kitsunes.” She replied, still distracted.

*Hiei, it has to be. But since when did he have another sister?* Youko said puzzled.

*A puzzle.*

“Who's your brother?” Suichi asked casually.

*Don't tell him.* Hiei told Kagome suddenly.

*Why not?* She asked confused.

*Because.* Was all he said and wouldn't budge.

*Fine.*

“Which one?” Kagome asked.

“The one you gave the sketch to.” Suichi replied.

“Can't tell you, it's a secret.” Was all Kagome said.

*WHAT!!* Youko exclaimed. Causing Kurama to wince at the headache he was starting to feel.

“Okay, what are your brothers' names?” Kurama inquired.

“Well, let's see. There's Fluffy, Doggy, Piggy, and Sota.” Kagome said calmly.

*What kind of names are those.* Youko whined. *This girl is smooth.* He said approvingly. *She would make a good mate.*

*I quite agree Youko.* Kurama said.

While Hiei was complaining to Kagome. *I am not a pig.* He said huffily.

*Of course not. Have you seen yourself eat ice cream?* Kagome asked innocently.

*Hn.* Hiei made no comment after that remark. It was true after all.

“What kind of names are those?” Suichi asked shocked.

“Nicknames of course. It annoys them to no end.” Kagome said. Then looked at her drawing and found that she was finished. “Well it seems I am done with my drawing. How about you?”

Suichi looked down at his own, and to his amazement found that it was finished as well. “It would seem it is finished as well.” He replied.

“Tell you what, I'll show you mine if you show me yours.” Kagome said innocently.

*Oh, the things I can show you.* Youko said, wanting to take her up on her offer.

*You might want to get your mind out of the gutter Youko, I do not believe she meant it in that way.* Kurama replied calmly.

*I can dream can't I? Besides, your no fun.* Youko said and sent Kurama an image of him pouting.

“How about on the count of three?” Suichi asked.

“Okay, one, two, three.” Kagome said and they both switched drawings.

Kagome was amazed. This was beautiful. Suichi was really talented. Suichi on the other was trying to hold back his laughter. It seemed Youko had yet to figure out that he was wearing girls clothes.

*Hmm. I look good.* Youko said approvingly.

*Yes you do, considering you are wearing a bra.* Kurama informed him.

*Bra?*

*A woman's undergarment, used to confine her breasts.*

*What?!?* Youko exclaimed. *At least she gave me men's pants, even though they are short.*

*Sorry Youko, those are capri's. They are women's garments, they can also be thought of as long shorts or short pants.* Kurama informed him.

*Women's clothing. She dressed me in women's clothing? Again? Why? What did I ever do to her?* Youko whined, almost crying because a beauty such as her keeps seeing him as a female.

“Kagome, you do know that's a male?” Suichi questioned her.

“Of course. Quite handsome too.” Kagome replied.

“Then if I may ask, why do you keep dressing him in women's clothing?” He asked seriously.

“Oh, because it's funny.” She said simply. “Besides he isn't real. I mean, he couldn't be right? Youkai's don't exist.” Kagome said while searching Suichi's eyes. She could sense the aura of a kitsune about him, but also the aura of a human. But he wasn't a hanyou.

Suichi felt her searching gaze, but chose to ignore it, for now. “Right, Youkai's are myths, legends.” And saw her disappointment at his answer.

*Youko, is it possible for her to know about Youkai's?* Kurama asked curiously.

*I don't see how, unless she's met them.* Youko replied.

*But where would she have met one?* Kurama asked Youko, trying to figure this girl out.

*I don't know. But you have to admit, she is an interesting puzzle.* Youko said. He loved puzzles.

Suddenly a ball of crumpled paper came through the air aiming at Kagome's head. Before he could warn Kagome or do something about it, Kagome turned and caught it. She then opened the paper and turned quite pale.

“Kagome, what was that about?” Suichi asked concerned. Dreading what was in the paper.

“Oh nothing.” Kagome said cheerfully, while inwardly seething.

*Hiei do you know who sent this paper?* Kagome asked.

Hiei searched the minds of all the students and finally found the culprit. Stupid onna was thinking about threat she had written on the paper, thinking that it would keep Kagome away from Suichi. *It's the one in the back. Slender, brown eyes, long brown hair. Her name is…. Dana. What did she write Kagome?* Hiei asked, while seeing Kagome's eyes narrowed dangerously.

*She threatened me. Don't worry I'll deal with her.* Kagome said.

How dare that little girl threaten my life, thinking it will keep me away from my new friend. Who does that little bitch think she is. Kagome seethed while trying to think of a way to get even. The note read `Beware! The fan club is not happy. Leave Suichi alone or suffer the consequences.' And it had a graphic picture of Kagome being strangled.

*What could have made her pale so Kurama?* Youko asked in concern. He may not like that she kept drawing him in women's clothing, but he felt something for this ningen.

*I don't know Youko, she wouldn't show me.* Kurama said worriedly.

*Well steal it already.* Youko said impatiently.

*I am just waiting for the right time.* Kurama informed him.

The bell soon rang, and when they were gathering their books to leave Suichi quickly got the paper out of pocket and made it look as if it fell to the floor.

“Kagome you dropped this.” Suichi said, causing Kagome to quickly turn around and see Suichi quickly read the contents.

“What is the meaning of this?” He asked in a deadly voice. He was furious. How dare someone threaten HIS Kagome.

“It's nothing Suichi. I can take care of it.” Kagome said, trying to calm him down. She had seen his aura quickly flare silver. Suichi's eyes were also starting to get golden flecks.

“Suichi, why are your eyes changing colors?” Kagome suddenly asked. She had an idea as to why, but hadn't planned to ask that question just yet.

Suichi snapped out of his anger. “What?”

“Your eyes, why do they change?” she repeated.

“I don't know what you are talking about.” He said with a puzzled face.

Kagome was disappointed. She didn't know why, but she really didn't expect him to lie to her. Evade her question, but not lie. “Oh…. Well see you at lunch.” Kagome said with fake cheerfulness and headed out.

Kagome's next two classes went by quickly, and she soon found herself looking for Suichi, only to get detained by her fan club. “Kagome, I'm Erik, President of your fan club.” A tall handsome boy told her, with a group of boys behind him. “We were just wondering if you have a boyfriend?”

“Uh. No.” Kagome said turning red.

“So Kagome, what do you want in a guy.” Erik asked. While writing in a notebook.

“Uh. Kind, tall, strong, and um. I guess that's it.” Kagome answered while looking for an escape route.

Erik was still writing in his notebook. “Would you like to have lunch with us?” He asked hopefully.

“I am sorry but she already promised to eat lunch with me.” Suichi informed them.

Erik glared evilly at him. “How about tomorrow then?” He asked.

“Sorry, she's taken for the rest of the school year.” Suichi kindly informed him, then grabbed Kagome's hand and led her away.

“Thanks Suichi.” Kagome said gratefully. As they walked outside to sit underneath a tree.

“Suichi, let's sit under this one.” Kagome said, and promptly sat down underneath the tree Hiei was using.

Suichi, sensing his friend Hiei had some reservations. He wasn't sure why, but he didn't want to share Kagome just yet. But seeing as how he couldn't come up with any good reasons for not sitting under `this specific tree' he just followed suit.

*So Hiei, comfortable up there? Or would you like to join us for lunch?* Kagome asked. For some reason she wanted to introduce her two new friends. They both just seemed so lonely.

*Hn.*

“So Suichi, how did your other classes go?” Kagome asked, trying to make conversation.

“Boring.” Suichi replied simply. Which mostly his classes were. He was forced to sit every day in a classroom and learn information he already knew. Even Youko was bored.

“That's it?” Kagome asked. “Nothing interesting?”

“Well it is boring having to just sit there and pretend to be listening. All that stuff is just too easy.” Suichi replied.

“Really, even math?” Kagome asked. She was getting an idea that maybe Suichi wouldn't mind tutoring her in Math during lunch time.

“Yes, even math is exceptionally easy.” Suichi calmly replied as he took out his lunch.

*Hiei, would you like any?* Kurama asked his friend.

Hiei's stomach let out a loud growl, but he didn't want to blow his cover just yet. Both Kagome and Kurama didn't know that he knew them both, and he wanted to keep it like that. Thankfully, both of them ignored that growl.

*Hn.*

Kagome also took out her lunch and started munching out. *Hiei, are you sure you wouldn't like anything. I can toss some stuff up in the air while Suichi isn't looking.* She offered.

Hiei thought this over and it sounded like a good idea. *Okay.* Soon enough Kagome tossed something up when Suichi wasn't looking. A thought then crossed his mind. What worked with one, could very well work with the other.

*Fox, toss up some food when the onna isn't looking.* Hiei said.

Kurama was a bit surprised, but didn't complain. Soon enough Hiei was getting fed by both Kagome and Suichi/Kurama. Pretty soon a pattern emerged between Kagome and Kurama throwing food at him. Kagome was eating her lunch and tossing up some of her food for Hiei to eat also. But then she finally came to the part of her lunch she absolutely hated. Peas. She quickly rolled them up in a napkin when Suichi wasn't looking and tossed them to Hiei. Hiei caught what Kagome threw and unfolded it and ate one of the green looking things without paying much attention. He quickly spit it out.

*Are you trying to poison me? What was that?* Hiei asked disgruntled.

*Peas. It's good for you.* Kagome said simply.

*It tastes awful.* He grumpled. *If it was so good for you, why didn't you eat it?* He demanded.

*Easy, it tastes awful.* Kagome replied back.

*Then why give it to me.* Hiei growled.

*Your sister packed it.* Kagome said casually.

*Hn.* Was all Hiei said, then what Kagome said hit me. *How did you know Yukina's my sister?*

*I didn't, you just confirmed it.* Kagome said smugly.

*Don't tell her.* Hiei threatened.

*Of course not, that's for you to do.* Kagome said. Then in a threatening manner, “And You Will Tell Her.*

*Hn.*

“So Suichi, will you tutor me in math? I am not very good at it.” Kagome asked sheepishly.

“It would be my pleasure. When would you like to start?” He asked.

*Take her home, you can tutor her there.* Youko said impatiently. *Then I will have her my clutches. I mean we.*

*Down fox. Do you really think that ningen will just allow you to make a pass at her?* Hiei asked.

*Yes Youko, she is different from all those other women throwing themselves at us.* Kurama replied calmly.

*Prude.* Youko grumbled out.

“How about right now? I really don't have much time after school. And my weekends are pretty much spoken for.” Kagome told him.

“Okay, how about I help you with the hard problems.”

And Kagome and Suichi spent most of their lunch period doing Kagome's math homework.

“Thank you Suichi, those were the hardest ones. I think I can finish the rest at home.” Kagome said.

“Now time for desert. Lets see I know I have some chocolate cake here.” Kagome said and then brought it out. Before she knew it a black blur passed by and snatched the cake.

*Hiei, did you just steal my cake.* Kagome demanded angrily.

*Hn. I don't know what you are talking about?* Hiei said innocently while stuffing himself with cake, then quickly wiping his face down as to show no evidence of his recent theft.

*HN.* Was all Kagome said to that.

Suichi had seen it all and was in shock. Youko however was dismayed. *That midget stole `our' Kagome's cake. Make him give it back.* Youko said indignantly.

*Hiei? Did you just steal her cake?* Kurama asked calmly.

*Hn. What gives you that idea fox? Did you see me?* Hiei asked calmly.

*Well yeah.* Kurama said.

*Give it back you cake stealer.* Youko angrily demanded.

*Think carefully fox, do you really want it back?* Hiei smirked.

*You ate it!!?? Already??* Youko asked in dismay.

“Hello earth to Suichi, are you there?” Kagome asked while snapping her fingers in his face. Bringing Suichi back from arguing with himself.

“Oh sorry about that.” He said.

“Well like I was saying, I'm sorry but I must of forgot to pack the cake.” Kagome said smiling sheepishly. Hiei so going to get you for that.

“That's okay, I brought some desert I made myself.” And so saying brought out some chocolate truffles. Hiei saying this, made to snatch those truffles, when he was stopped by some vines holding him in place.

*If you behave, I `might' give you some.* Kurama said calmly.

*Hn.* Was all he said, feeling his mouth watering as he saw Kurama taking out those truffles. Kurama's cooking was good, both those truffles, Hiei would kill for.

“Wow Suichi, these taste sooo good.” Kagome said out loud, then heard a loud and tortured groan above her. Feeling bad Kagome quickly snuck one and pretended to eat it, and then when Suichi wasn't looking, quickly tossed it up into the tree. Hiei quickly caught it.

*Thanks.* He said gratefully, and quickly devoured the truffle.

The bell soon rang, signally the end of lunch and the beginning of their next class, which happened to be cooking class. Their assignment for that day was to make a German chocolate cake, with frosting. Kagome and Suichi paired up and got to work. Practically ignoring the whole class, which was fortunate or unfortunate. The girls were glaring heatedly at Kagome and making googly eyes at Suichi. The boys were glaring menacingly at Suichi and looking like love starved fools at Kagome.

“So Suichi, what do you like to do once your out of school?” Kagome asked Suichi.

“Hmm. Let's see, I like to work with my plants, cook, read, and take long walks.” He replied. “How about you.” He asked as he started mixing together the ingredients for the cake.

“Me? I like to train.” Kagome answered back without thinking as she turned out the oven and prepared the baking pans.

“Training?” He asked curiously.

“Yeah, every day after school, grandma likes for me to train. It's kinda neat. Learning stuff, how to defend yourself.” Kagome said distractedly.

Suichi had finished mixing the ingredients for the cake and poured the mix into two round baking pans. Kagome turned on the timer for 35 minutes. Then as they waited for the cake to cook, they started making the frosting.

“HM. Interesting. Who is your grandma?” Suichi asked intrigued.

“Grandmother.” Kagome answered.

“Yes, what is your Grandmother's name.” Suichi asked patiently.

*Youko is it just me, or does she not want us to know about her family.*

*She doesn't want us to know about her family. Remember, she wouldn't give us her brothers name.* Youko reminded him.

*I wonder what she is hiding.* Kurama said puzzled.

*Problems fox?* Hiei butted in.

*Not really, just an interesting puzzle.* Youko responded.

*Careful fox, wouldn't want to you to get caught.* Hiei smirked.

*Hah. Me caught by that female. Please.* Youko said arrogantly. *But then again, being caught by `her' wouldn't be such a bad thing now would it Kurama?*

*No Youko, it wouldn't be a bad thing at all.* Kurama quickly agreed.

*Hn. Careful fox.* Hiei said and then quickly cut off the link. He just loved annoying them.

Kagome had taken a long time to answer Suichi's question, so when she finally did it took him by surprise. “Why Suichi, Grandmother's name is Grandma of course.” Kagome said in a tone that said it should have been obvious.

“Okay, what is your mother's name?” Suichi asked, wondering if that was a secret as well.

“Oh, Mrs. Higurashi.” Was all Kagome would say.

“Is that it?”

“Well her other name is Mom of course.” Kagome replied simply. “I think that it's for the frosting. How much longer for the cake, do you know?” Kagome replied and then started looking around the room.

“Umn. Suichi?” Kagome asked puzzled.

“Yes Kagome?”

“What happened?” she asked still puzzled.

“What do you mean.” Suichi asked and looked at her in confusion. He really didn't know what she was talking about.

“Well, what happened to the room? It's in shambles.” Kagome said.

Suichi turned around and his mouth opened in shock. The classroom was literally in shambles. There was flour and chocolate everywhere. The whole class, boys and girls, were covered in flour completely. Even the poor teacher was covered in flour and seemed to be asking for help from the heavens. The teacher was completely covered in flour and had chocolate smudged all over her face. Some of the students even had egg yolks running down their hair. The only clean spot in the entire room was his and Kagome's work station.

“It looks as if a hurricane struck while we weren't paying attention.” Suichi agreed with Kagome. Just then their timer went off.

Kagome went to the oven and checked to see if the cake was ready yet. When she was satisfied that it was done she then took out one while wearing oven mitts. Suichi took out the other one. They quickly took the cakes out of the pan and set them down to cool off enough to put on the frosting. When looked up they noticed that other timer had gone off as well, but all the other cakes were done in pans shaped like cakes.

“Suichi, were we supposed to use the heart shaped pans?” Kagome asked.

Suichi noticing the same thing she had responded with, “I don't recall the teacher specifying which pans to use.”

They then frosted their cake and started getting their things ready to leave for the next class when they were both bombarded. The girls quickly gave Suichi their heart shaped cakes while the boys quickly gave their to Kagome. Not wanting to be rude, they both accepted.

*Hiei help. I can't possibly eat all of this or take all of this home?* Kagome begged.

*Hiei, would you like some chocolate cake?* Kurama offered, unaware that Kagome had just offered Hiei the same thing. Since their station was next to an open window, all they saw was a black blur, and an empty table. Hiei had taken all of the cakes, except for the one that Kagome and Suichi had made. Anticipating that Hiei would just snatch everything, Kagome had hid it behind her back. Once she saw that the table was empty, she gave a clueless face to Suichi.

“Suichi? What happened to all of the cakes?” Kagome said cluelessly. *Thank you Hiei*

“I have no idea.” Suichi answered puzzled, while inwardly smirking. *Thanks Hiei.*

Hiei was now taste testing each cake and separating the good tasting ones from the awful tasting ones. The one that tasted awful he put to one side. Once he had them separated, he looked for the owner of each of the awful tasting ones. When he had each and everyone of them located he quickly threw them at their heads. Before you knew what happened there was chocolate cake coming out of nowhere hitting the poor helpless victims. Leaving them stunned at where the cake came from since they didn't see it coming.

*Hiei!* Kagome said appalled.

*Hiei!* Suichi said appalled as well.

*Good aim.* Youko said approvingly.

Hiei opened his link to all of them. *They tried to poison me.* Then closed it. He then dug it, stuffing himself. Very much resembling the Pig Kagome had described him as earlier. So it was a very happy and chocolate covered Hiei who finally made it to the shrine after school finished and was put to train to work off the excess weight he gained that afternoon. As he started training the only thought that crossed his mind was, It was worth it.

And thus a pattern emerged. Kagome and Suichi would stay together in the classes they had with each other. In art class, Kagome would still draw embarrassing pictures of Youko, much to the kistune's dismay. Hiei, it appeared, had a grudge against the kitsune. Though the drawing that Youko complained the most about was of him wearing Kurama's school uniform. It wasn't the funniest of pictures, but he just didn't like wearing pink. He considered it to girly. During cooking class, they would both receive food made from the rest of the class. Since it was way to much for Kagome and Suichi, Hiei was more often than not, more than willing to take it off their hands. He would throw the food that he considered poison back at the poor ningens and devour the ones he thought tasted edible. So it was a poor Hiei, that had to train twice as hard to make sure he didn't gain any excess weight. After school, either Kagome would make excuses as to why Kurama couldn't escort her home, or Kurama would get called away on a mission. And Kurama would be the one making excuses.

Kagome finally got her revenge on that fan girl Dana. Apparently Dana and Erik are twins and both are president of the fan club. Kagome had to think a lot about the perfect revenge and finally managed it. Since she had her for P.E. Kagome switched Dana's Shampoo with blue ink, as well as her body soap that was in a bottle. The blue ink would turned her hair as well as her skin blue for an entire week, at least. So it was a humiliated smurf that had to put up with all the laughter from her fellow classmates. When no one was around her Kagome came up to Dana and whispered in her ear.

“Next time you want to threaten `me', you might want to reconsider. I let you off lightly this time. You don't want to know what I am capable of.” Kagome whispered menacingly. All this did was get Dana angry. If Kagome thought that Dana would leave her alone, she couldn't be more wrong. Dana was now plotting Kagome's downfall. And of course she would have help. Her club would be more than willing to take Kagome down.

Kagome's training was getting harder and harder. She had finally mastered calling out her energy, so it didn't drain her anymore when she would do both meditations at once. As a matter of fact, she had even taken to napping while floating above the nails. It seemed that once she mastered both of those meditations, her energy naturally protected her once she called it force. Genkai was very impressed when she walked in while Kagome was doing her meditations and found her asleep, yet her energies were still there keeping her from harm. She even walked close to Kagome, and attempted to strike her, only to come against a barrier that was both bluish and purplish in color. Kagome woke up when she felt someone hit against her barrier, and smiled sheepishly at Genkai. It seemed that while Kagome was doing both meditations, she would start getting bored and experiment with her powers. Doing things that Genkai hadn't planned on showing her just yet. She had also finally mastered the art of healing. She was able to heal both humans and demons alike. What made her powers so unique is that her Miko energies didn't automatically attack Youkai. It seemed to accept them and didn't consider them a threat, unless they were to attack it's master.

Kagome's and Hiei's relationship also grew. Hiei was starting to develop deep feeling of protectiveness. Kagome was showing him what it was like to be part of an actual family, and because of Kagome he was able to realize that Yukina would accept him. She already accepted him as a friend, and even thought of him as a brother. So he no longer feared her rejection of him if he were to tell her the truth. But, just because he knew this, it didn't make the telling any easier. Hiei would always love Kagome, she had won over his respect, then his love. To him, she would forever be his little sister. She also taught him how to tease and pull pranks. Of course he only teased her when no one else was around or could hear. He still kept his cold facade in front of others. Also, his pranks would get sneakier and sneaker, so that she wouldn't automatically use those damned beads on him.

Sota had taken to visiting more often, and Hiei was usually charged with taking him home. Sota took to Hiei immediately and started looking up to his as if he was an older brother. Hiei had taken to training Sota. Since his sister was bound to attract demons, he wanted Sota to be able to take care of himself and his family in case anything happens. Even Kagome's mom accepted him as part of the family. The only person in the family who `seemed' not to accept him, was her grandfather. Though the grandfather would always tell him to be careful, and was always more than willing to listen to Hiei's burdens, he kept throwing ofudas at him. Most of the time they had glue. The first time this happened Hiei had gone into shock that some ningen would dare glue ofuda's to his head. The grandpa had gotten so excited because he thought `he' had frozen the Youkai, only to get shocked when Hiei pulled the ofuda off of his hair, and spoke. Poor Gramps almost fainted.

So everything seemed go into a normal routine. On the weekends Kagome would sleep in late, go visit mom, and then train once she got back. Genkai wasn't as strict during the weekends, seeing as how Kagome needed some alone time and worked really hard during the week. Kagome had quickly gotten into this routine and thought nothing could go wrong. She thought that nothing could disrupt her new routine and was grateful for it. She was no longer depressed, and actually felt quite happy. But for some reason, it felt as if something was missing. It was too quiet and too peaceful. She didn't want to fight demons or anything like that, but it was starting to get boring. Sure she had fights with Hiei, or more like Hiei would pull a prank and she would `down' him. Or she would be the one yelling and he would just stare at her. It wasn't fun picking fights or trying to argue with someone if they refused to argue or yell back. Little did she know that she was about to meet someone who would help turn her world upside down. Someone who would be more than willing to fight with her, yell at her, shout and argue. Heck this person would probably try to pull worse pranks than Hiei.

*****************
Well that's it. Hope you all like this chapter. I wouldn't have had it posted yesterday, but it was only ten pages, and my friend accused me of being lazy and threatened to `GET TO WORK'. *Tears, sniffle* She hurt my poor feelings. So I went back and added some stuff, making it to 17 pages. Or at least that is how long it is on Word. Hope you enjoy, and guess who she meets next. As if you couldn't tell. Oh well. I'll try to have the next chapter up and running by at least Monday of next week. Don't know yet. Need to write and see where it takes me. Oh and any ideas are welcomed. They sometimes help me get up and actually write. Which reminds me, Thank you again Mariana for that idea about cooking class.

Now to thank my reviewers:

Ryukotsusei: First off thank you for your review. Also it was thanks to your comment about the fan girls being out for blood that made me include the fan girl from hell Dana. So thank you so much. And if you think Hiei's bad, just wait. Hope you enjoy this chapter.

Anon: Of course Hiei has a strange sense of humor. It's just that he can't show it to just anyone. But if you have any ideas on what he can do to Kurama and Kagome I would welcome it. So far all he's done is get fat off of their cooking class. Wait he trains more so he's not getting fat. Oh well. Ideas would be a plus. Thank you so much for your review.

Diane: Thank you so much for your review. I hope you like this chapter as well. It may not be as funny as the last chapter, but I tried. Any and all ideas welcomed.

Thank you for reading and liking companion. Don't worry thought Hiei and Sango will get back together in this story and stay together. I am just not sure how soon that is going to happen. Sango is not cooperating. Seems she pretty ticked at Hiei for some reason. Oh well.
