Chapter two: Girl in a green egg

Golden eyes looked on the strong hold fortress with deep thought. Ears twitching at every sound the forest behind him made. He sent his ki into the soft earth, willing a rose of vibrant red to grow. It sprouted, rising to meet his outstretched hands. He smiled when the soft petals brushed his palm as the bloom opened to reveal over a dozen seeds. He picked each one up and placed them neatly within the confines of his silver hair.

It was perfect time to strike. It was early morning and the moon was still high in the sky. If the inhabitants were sleep, it would be now. The wind whipped his hair around him, sending the odors and aromas of the building before him. He sniffed. Yep. There was a source of power here and he would find it. Then he would still it.

He quickly moved around the building, finding the easiest way in. There. On the second floor was an open balcony door. He leapt up and landed quietly behind shear white curtains. He stealthily moved in, following the aura of power. He made his way through most of the house, finding himself in what looked to be an old dungeon. There was power here. It was dark, but his youkai senses automatically adjusted to it. As he looked around he saw what looked to be eggs. Moving in closer, he saw that they were glowing with a green aura and even more disturbing was that they held bodies. There were bodies of male and female humans, but they were all exceptional good looking… for humans.

Feeling quite disturbed he continued on through the lair, until he came upon a chest. It held power, but it wasn't to the same degree of power he was feeling. Now this is interesting, how I love to kill two birds with one stone. He picked the lock on the chest and snatched the blue jewel within. Satisfied he continued to the real source of power he was seeking, and was shocked that the aura was coming from another egg.

He stepped closer and knelt on the balls of his feet, looking within the green until he saw a face. She was beautiful. Her long ebony hair flared and curled around her body. Even through the green of the egg he could tell her lips were a lovely shade of rose red. Her eyelashes clashed softly on her skin. And even more amazing, was that she was glowing…glowing a vibrant shade of pink that seemed to be increasing every minute. Her power was becoming stronger, he could feel it.

“I see you have found my prized possession. “

He jumped up and whirled around him. No one had ever snuck up on him, narrowing his eyes, and no one would ever again.

“Don't be too ssssurprised. I've noticed that this beautiessss power overridesss our sensesss. Even more so as her power increasesss. I found her in the woods a good ways easssst of here about a week ago, she has not moved at all. I would have took her for dead if her heart wasss not beating and the increasssing of her power. I think she will be perfect for my concoction, don't you think?”

“Concoction?”

“Yes. I'm making a serum to make even the ugliest beast beautiful. Not that you would need it.”

He smirked to himself. Now that he was paying attention to this demon, he had to admit that it was one of the more hideous creatures he had met. His face was like that of a snake, and his body had the form of human. A tongue of a snake slithered out every five seconds to meet the air and his eyes glowed a distasteful hue of yellow.

“Unless of course, you are planning to steal my most important ingredient…”

“Well,” he smiled to himself, “stealing is my job.”

“Well killing is mine.”

The snake like creature attacked him with his claws extended and venom dripping from his nails. The surprise attack was quick, and although he dodged, the nails dug into his back, sending poison through his blood stream. I'll have to kill him quickly before I become too weak and he kills me. Even as the thought entered his mind, he felt the poison starting to work on his nerves. His vision was blurring and his ability to control his body was becoming impaired.

As he knelt on the ground, he could feel the demon coming in for the killing blow. But with an explosion, it never came. As he looked to his left he saw the girl who was in the egg standing before the snake demon, naked and glowing the same vibrant color of rose red as her lips. Her eyes slowly opened, revealing two glowing pink orbs. She smiled at the snake demon, and flicked her wrist. With a jolt the demon was flung to the side of the wall, and with another flick of her wrist he was sent to the other side of the wall. Finally she picked him up and balled her hand into a fist.

He watched fascinated as the youkai above him writhed like his heart was being clenched and then slump into defeated, dead heap. She dropped the demon and then moved towards him. At the advancing danger, he quickly moved backwards. His vision was getting worse, and his body was no longer obeying his command. He lay there, watching through a haze of fog as she knelt down beside him. Closing his eyes, he cringed internally. So this was how he was to be defeated…

“I will not hurt you.”

His eyes shot open, only to be entranced with sapphire ones. She smiled down at him, the life in her eyes making the green specks twinkle. He was in a trance, and his body would have shivered when she touched him, if he had control of his body.

“I'm Kagome, who are you?”

He pushed all his strength towards his lips.

“Youko.” With that he fell into a deep sleep.
