Chapter Three: An Unexpected TURN-ament
***Day of the Tokyo Dome Battle***
“I still don't see what you're upset about,” Kagome told Suichi as they drove to Hiei and Sango's house. She was driving, with Kurama riding shotgun. Suichi was in the backseat.
“Tch, I'm not upset, Mother, not even close,” the part-fox demon replied. Kagome heaved a sigh. She didn't know why her son was being such a sour-puss. Make that sour-fox.
“Maybe you can convince him to talk?” she inquired to Kurama.
“I'll try,” Kurama affirmed. So, Kurama and Kagome tried desperately to get their son to talk, but they didn't prevail. It was like trying to get an angry clam to open its mouth.
“Talk about obstinate,” muttered Kurama.
“Come again?” asked the miko.
“Obstinate means stubborn.”
“Oh.”
They drove in silence until they reached their destination. (i.e. S & H's house) They got out of the car with Suichi muttering incomprehensible phrases all the way up the walkway.
“Nhm…unimtelichg panents…I dompt wanht tah…grrrrrrrrrr…” was one of the many things he said. (Translation: Humph…unintelligent parents…I don't want to…grrrrrrrrrr…)
“Straighten up and stop moping,” commanded Kagome right before Sango opened the door.
“Hi, Kagome. Hello, Kurama. Good evening, Suichi,” greeted Sango, happy not to have Hiei drive AGAIN. (It was very horrible.) “Come on in.” When they went inside, they found Hiei waiting impatiently.
“Kino is upstairs. I'll let her know that you're here,” said Sango with a smile. “She's really excited.”
When Sango came back downstairs, she said, “Kino said she'll be down in a--” the demon slayer was cut off by:
“Suichi!!!! It's been such a long time! I haven't seen you for AGES!! I know we live four blocks away from each other but we do go to different schools and I rented a movie for tonight! It's called “Princess Mononoke”! Have you seen it before? I haven't and it looks like such a good movie! I bought extra popcorn and cola and, oh! I almost forgot! I also bought ramen for dinner tonight! Have you already eaten? I'm just so excited! There's this book I want you to borrow, I think you'll like it and another thing, I think that we should…”
Suichi felt a major migraine coming on. `Is this why girls get cell phones? So they can talk each other's ears off? Note to self: see Kino more often so she won't have as much jaw energy saved up.'

(Note: there is a real anime called “Princess Mononoke”, so…Disclaimer: I do not own Princess Mononoke.)

“Okay, Kino, don't make him deaf. We're going now. See ya tomorrow,” called Sango.
“ `Kay, Mom!” turning to Suichi, she said, “Now which should we do first?”

***At the Tokyo Dome***
“This is strange. Where is everyone?” wondered Yusuke as he walked around in the empty parking lot.
“That's what I would like to know! You dragged me here for nothing! When we get home I swear I'll…what's that?” said Keiko looking to the entrance.
Pulling into the parking lot was a car. No, make that two cars. Yusuke recognized the drivers immediately.
“Kagome! And…Kuwabara?!” said Yusuke as the others got out of the car.
“I wonder where everybody is,” mused Kagome.
“Let's go inside and figure out what's going on,” Sango said walking towards the building. When everyone was inside, they found an empty stadium and on the battlefield…were people. Six figures, to be exact.

“Urameshi, they have really weird auras. I think they're demons,” said Kuwabara, breaking the silence.
“Then let's go down and say `hello',” Yusuke responded, cracking his knuckles. The stupidly brave group walked down the stairs into the battle zone. Kurama studied the six demons very closely. Suddenly he gasped.
“What's wrong, Kurama?” inquired Kagome.
“These are…The Devil's Nine Fingers,” responded Kurama, remembering where he had heard of them before. “They are a ruthless and murderess group from a parallel universe who can travel through cracks in time, such as the well-house. Aligning themselves with tough demons, they gain power and respect until they don't need their ally anymore, then they drop the alliance.”
“There are only six, though. Where are the other three?” questioned Yusuke.
“Very perceptive…for a human,” one of the unfamiliar demons said. “Our leader does not to sully her hands on a small fight. The two others are taking care of other… business. Now tell me, are you missing something?” The present yuyu/inu members looked around and at the exact same time they exclaimed:
“Keiko and Yukina are missing!”
“Yes, here is our proposal: you beat us in a one-on-one tournament, and you get your precious girls back. If we win, you come with us,” the speaker from before explained.
Yusuke looked at the others, getting reassuring "er" somewhat reassuring looks from all of them. “All right. It's a deal!” Yusuke said back. The demon smiled. She'd have fun with this, oh yes.
“Then I will be the first opponent,” the speaker said.
“Bring it on,” Yusuke retorted. This time he studied the she-demon closely. She was relatively short, but taller than a certain feisty fire demon. Her hair was black, but had silver specks in it. Respectively, it looked like the night sky. The scale-like skin covering her body was a forest green; the color of pines. Her eyes were silver, like sun on water, and her long talons were lavender. She wore a plain white kimono, with a pattern of black roses twining up it. She looked delicate, but Yusuke decided not to chance it.
“My name is Mistique,” the demon told Yusuke. “I rank number two in our association.”
“I'll go easy on ya. I'd feel bad if you got too hurt, since you're a girl,” Yusuke said sarcastically. A glint came over Mistique's eyes.
“Oh? Thank you so much. I was hoping you would say that. You see, I'm not much of a fighter,” she replied. The other five demons either a) sneered b) smirked or c) burst out laughing. Yusuke's blood began to boil. Was she making fun of him? Could she really overpower him? Or was it just all talk and no action? Somehow, Yusuke doubted that this girl could be stronger than Tuguro.

(I wonder if he's forgetting what he mentioned earlier, “What they say about anime is true. The girls always hit harder than villains.” Considering that the villain is a girl, I think Yusuke is being pretty stupid.)

“Shall we get started? The first move is yours,” Mistique voiced.
“Fine. Sorry but…” Yusuke ran up to the demon and powered up a punch with spirit energy. He landed the blow…on the floor. “Oww. What the…?” Yusuke turned around and saw Hiei on the field snickering. “Hiei?! But where's Mistique?!”
I'm Hiei, detective,” said another Hiei next to his comrades.
“He's right,” said the Hiei on the battlefield. Yusuke watched as the fire demon in the battle zone quickly transformed into Mistique.
“Heh heh, you see I'm able to shape shift into whatever I want, and have its abilities,” the she-demon answered the spirit detective's unspoken question.
“Yusuke, be cautious! She's not like the elder Tuguro! She's much more advanced!” Kurama warned Yusuke from the sidelines.
“Alright-y then. My turn,” said Mistique, smirking wickedly. To Yusuke's horror, he saw before him a double of himself. “What's wrong? By that look on your face, I think you aren't satisfied. Let's try this then.” The next thing he knew, Yusuke saw his double wearing Mistique's kimono. Kuwabara about died laughing on the floor.
“SHUT UP, KUWABARA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Yusuke screamed at the laughing carrot-top. Kurama snickered, Sango doubled over with laughter, Kagome was trying to contain herself, but it wasn't working so well, and Hiei sneered. Needless to say, Yusuke was ready to kill the b****.
“Your last name is Urameshi, right? Yusuke Urameshi……hmm……that's it!” the demon paused, then “SPIRIT GUN!!!!!!!!!!!” Yusuke was sent flying into a wall. The demon changed back into her original form. Yusuke tottered back onto the field.
“Geez…who knew a girl would pack such a punch AND have the Rando act down perfectly?” asked Yusuke to no one in particular as he collapsed onto the floor.

(Note: the spirit gun that Mistique used was three times as more powerful than Rando's.)
(Note Note: this is about 5% of Mistique's power.)

“Yusuke!!!” yelled Sango and Kagome in unison.
“Take him…he'll kill himself unless he rests,” Mistique said walking back to stand with the others. Kagome and Sango helped Yusuke back to sit in one of the stadium's chairs. Kurama patched him up with some medicinal herbs.
“Do you think he'll be okay?” worried Kagome. Both she and Kurama looked at him. All they heard were some very loud snores.
“Oh, yes, Kagome, he will, he will,” responded Kurama, seeming suddenly exhausted. (Who wouldn't?)

“So…who's next?” said the following demon, cracking her knuckles. Kurama thought that she looked a little like Yusuke while doing this.
“I will,” Kurama stepped up to the battle zone. The demon he would be fighting was tall and slender, with hair that flowed down to her thighs. Her hair was dark blue, like an ocean. Her skin was ivory that was tinted silver. Her eyes looked of the color…lightning. She wore a white tunic top, and light blue pants that looked like two skirts had been sewn to make legs.
“You must be the famous Yoko Kurama. I'm Wave, a Storm Demon. Rank number three,” Wave said, looking bored.
“So you're from one of the infamous element races. Your type isn't too common, is it?” asked Kurama.
Wave perked up and smiled a girlish grin. “Smart. I like you,” said the Storm Demon. “I haven't had someone to fight that was about my level for a long time. You fight with plants, correct? Hmm…what I really want to know is what you really look like, not what Minamino looks like.”
Kurama was shocked. How could these demons from another universe have inside information? Just…how? Unless an old enemy had aligned themselves with the DNF. (Devil's Nine Fingers.) Suddenly, Kurama remembered the one rival that could contact them…
The fox spirit jumped back in time to miss the majority of an unexpected blow from his opponent. His left upper arm had four parallel, half-inch deep scratches, ranging from five to three inches long; it bled heavily for an arm wound.
Wave licked the blood off her fingers. “Hey, Spacey! Pay attention! Or do you want me to tear you apart like this piece by piece?” she snarled with pleasure at him. She licked her fingers again. “Ya know? The blood of demons suppressing their power tastes the best. It's because all that power flows into the bloodstream, making it rich and flavorful.”
Kurama smiled with distaste at her. “Well, someone's certainly talkative, aren't they?”

“Well, yeah! For one thing, I can't be “disrespectful” and “dirty the air with my words” around Si-chanu.” Wave chuckled to herself. “Maybe I just like hearing my own voice. Now let's get this show on the road, shall we?” with that, she lunged at his throat, claws extended. Kurama stepped back as she fell face first into the ground.
“OWW…What the H***?!” Wave looked at her right leg. Wrapped around it was a vine. “Hmm…seems I've been foolish enough to think that I needn't use my powers in this fight. Oh, well.” She pointed at the plant. A tiny, miniscule spark of lightning gathered on her finger. When Wave tapped the vine, it exploded. “My turn,” Wave stated as she began to float five feet above the floor. She became enclosed in a ball of light. Lightning danced along the outside of the sphere.
“I suggest we all take cover,” another one of the demons said loud enough for the humans and other demons on the opposite side could hear. “This is her favorite technique. It doesn't kill, but it sucks half the life force of anyone within a thirty foot radius,” with that, the demon ran up the stairs and dove between seats that were fifty feet away from the battle zone. The other demons and the yuyu/inu people did the same.
The ball began to grow a little bit, then it stopped. To his surprise, Kurama was being lifted into the air by wind. A stream of light flowed from the orb and began to encircle the fox demon until he was engulfed completely.

After a few minutes, Wave slowly was lowered to the ground. On the floor of the stadium were ashes…and a very tired Kurama lying on his back.
“I see…you protected yourself with your stupid plants. But you didn't escape unscathed, did you?” Kurama's skin had been paled, then tinted with black. Weather it was just the ash or burns, no one could tell.
