Chapter 4

Inuyasha was flipping out. Kagome still wasn't back and Sesshoumaru was still gone too. He was getting tired of waiting for Kagome to come back. Half tempted as he was to get Kagome, Sango and Miroku made him wait.

"Damn it. I'm sick of waiting. She said tomorrow and that was three days ago. What if she's waiting for me to come get her?!"

"I'm right here. Calm down!" Kagome and Sesshoumaru walked through the line of trees. Their hands were no longer intertwined.

"Where the hell have you been?!" He glared at Sesshoumaru. "And why are you with him?"

"One I was with my father and two Sesshoumaru's with me because he can be."

"Fine. Why did you take so long? You said you'd be back three days ago."

"Inuyasha I thought my father was dead. He came by my house." She took a deep breath, "I didn't know who he was. He wanted to come in the house. I didn't let him. So he asked me if he guessed something could he come in. I agreed."

"What was he supposed to guess?"

"Which of the people I knew did he look like. He guessed Sesshoumaru and he was right."

Inuyasha blinked. "How would he know about Sesshoumaru?"

She sighed, "He's older than Sesshoumaru is and he's also an inuyoukai."

Miroku stood up, "So that means you are a hanyou?"

"No. My mother was also youkai. He told me that the family I live with doesn't know that I'm not really a part of the family. They think I belong there."

Sesshoumaru spoke up, "What is your father's name?"

"His name is Shima. He said he left Japan after you became Lord of the Western Lands."

"I have heard of the name but I have never met him."

Kagome smiled at her friends, "So you guys want to see my youkai form?"

Miroku smiled his lecherous smile and nodded, "Of course Lady Kagome I would love to."

Sango hit him on the head before she too smiled and said, "Yeah, show us Kagome."

She dropped the spell and smiled at her friend's stunned faces. Now with her being a youkai she could do more than stand on the side lines and shoot arrows. Finding Naraku would be much easier than before. Though she was a youkai she still held all of her miko abilities.

Kagome smiled brighter as the questions started coming from all of them.

Sesshoumaru stood back as her friends asked her questions. His eyes focused on Inuyasha above the others. He had caught the strong scent of desire coming from the hanyou. Sesshoumaru knew he would have to watch the half-breed closely to ensure his mate's safety. He would see to it that Inuyasha never touched his mate.

Kagome answered all of their questions. Most were about he new found abilities. She just smiled and answered them. Occasionally she would look over and see Sesshoumaru watching her. Kagome would smile brightly at him, then return her attention to her friends.

When Kagome had answered all of their questions they settled in and Kagome made dinner. The meal was, in fact, ramen, and Inuyasha nearly pounced on Kagome's backpack when he found out she had a whole bunch.

Sesshoumaru was, once again observing them and wondering how they had managed to defeat him three times. It was also baffling how they all got along. Two humans, one hanyou, and two youkai. Sango was raised to kill those that were now he closest companions. Kagome, now a youkai, had the powers of a priestess and was a natural enemy to youkai.

Inuyasha, his brother, was always criticized for being what he is; hanyou. Humans didn't trust the youkai blood; youkai hated him for his human weakness. Here he was with humans and youkai being accepted and even loved for being who he was.

Part of Sesshoumaru envied his younger brother for his luck. He pushed that away, he wouldn't envy Inuyasha. Kagome would soon be his mate and for that Sesshoumaru would always be grateful to his half-brother. Though he would never tell the hanyou, the facts remained. Sesshoumaru had Inuyasha to thank for meeting Kagome.

Though the group of friends were chatting and Sesshoumaru was hesitant to leave his mate he had to. All of the thankful and envious feelings towards Inuyasha were driving him insane. So he rose from his place beneath a nearby tree and with no word left.

Kagome had seen him leave and figured he just wasn't used to so many people. She let him go. Whenever Sesshoumaru wasn't in a good mood he went to relax in a hot spring. Since they were so close to Kaede's village Kagome knew where the springs were. He wouldn't be too close to the camp, so he was probably at the one near the caves.

After about another hour of talking Kagome went down to the river to wash the cooking utensils. Kirara had followed after her and walked by her side mewling softly. Once at the river Kagome started cleaning out the dishes.

Kirara jumped into the water and started pawing at the bubbles.

Kagome laughed and splashed a little bit of water at the neko.

"Kagome."

Both of them turned and saw Sesshoumaru standing there. "Hey Sesshoumaru I thought you wouldn't be back from the hot spring for a while longer."

He almost smiled, she knew his habits well. "I am leaving."

Her brows rose in surprise, "Why? What's wrong?"

"One of my soldiers came to tell me that Naraku has tried contacting me at my palace. I will not risk the chance that he comes by." He frowned, "Though I do not wish to leave you here with that hanyou, you would be safer here than with me."

Kagome nodded and stood up. She walked to Sesshoumaru with tears threatening to fall.

Sesshoumaru slid his hands up to cup her face, "Don't cry Kagome. You know I will be fine and your safety is what's important to me right now." He leaned in and claimed her lips in a soft, chaste kiss. When he slid to her ear he whispered softly, "Keep an eye on Inuyasha. I do not trust the scents his body was giving off earlier." He pulled away, his hands leaving her face.

Kagome nodded in understanding, "I love you Sesshoumaru."

He smiled slightly, "I love you too Kagome." He summoned his youki cloud and flew towards his home.

She closed her eyes and sighed. Kagome turned and returned to her washing.

Kirara looked at Kagome in confusion and mewled in question.

Kagome held her finger up to her lips, "Shhh, Kirara our little secret okay?"

The neko smiled a cat like smile and mewled in agreement.

Inuyasha never asked about Sesshoumaru's disappearance. It seemed to everyone like he was in deep thought. Shippo voiced against that saying Inuyasha wasn't a deep thinker. That if he tried to think too hard he might hurt himself. Even that hadn't got a response from the hanyou.

Kagome walked over to Inuyasha and put her hand on his shoulder. When he looked up she smiled, "Are you alright?"

Inuyasha stood up, "We need to talk Kagome." He led her a short way from camp and faced her.

"What is it Inuyasha?"

He looked into her eyes, "I love you."

She gasped, "What?"

"I do, I love you Kagome. I know it's taken me a long time but I know that you still feel the same for me." He grabbed her hands, "Will you be my mate?"

"I-I... Inuyasha..." She looked down, "What about Kikyo?"

His eyes wavered, "I did love her, but I see now that I belong with you. That I love you more than I ever loved her."

"Now you see that you love me?"

"Yes, I want to be with you Kagome."

She smiled slightly, "That is really something Inuyasha. You finally tell me you love me after I find out that I am a youkai. Why now I wonder? You just want a way to become youkai without the consequences of using the Shikon." Kagome dropped the concealing spell, "How dare you?! You are playing my feelings to get what you want! I will not let you play with me Inuyasha!" Her eyes glinted red, "SIT!"

Inuyasha went into the dirt harder than he had ever gone before.

Kagome started to walk away but stopped. "If you ever try this again I will hurt you like you have hurt me." She continued walking.

Sesshoumaru bathed to rid his body of Kagome's and her friend's scent. For at least now their alliance would be hidden from Naraku. He would hate to be around the hanyou, but it had to be done. Most of all he didn't want Naraku anywhere near his home.

Dressed in his usual red and white haori and hakamas he went in search of Jaken and Rin. He would ensure that his wards were safe from the half-breed. Sesshoumaru would be prepared for Naraku's trickery. Over his haori he wore his armor and at his waist were Tokijin and Tenseiga.

Rin and Jaken were in the garden. The unfortunate little youkai was on his back covered with flowers. Rin was dancing around him tossing more flowers into the air.

"Rin."

At once the young human dropped her flowers and ran to Sesshoumaru. She hugged his leg tightly and smiled up at him. "Hello Lord Sesshoumaru. I missed you." She noted the armor and swords, "Are we leaving Lord Sesshoumaru?"

"No. Jaken."

He immediately sprang up apologizing for not coming sooner. "Yes Lord Sesshoumaru?"

Take Rin inside to the Lady of the house's room. You are not to leave that room until I come and get you."

"May I ask why my Lord?"

"Naraku is coming here. And according to my brother he is after her."
"Of course my Lord. We will await your arrival." Jaken led Rin inside, her attention was on Sesshoumaru as she was taken away.

Not long after Jaken and Rin left a servant came to Sesshoumaru. It seemed that Naraku was there. Wasting no time he headed to his study and had a servant, along with four of his strongest guards, escort him to the study.

Sesshoumaru waited in his study, he was looking over an invitation he received when there was a knock at his door. "Come in."

Naraku came in, the guards and servant stayed outside and waited. He strode confidently into the room. "Lord Sesshoumaru it has been a long time since I've seen you. You have been away from here so long."

"Why are you here?"

"I wished to ask for your assistance once again Lord Sesshoumaru. Inuyasha is becoming quite bothersome and if he is no more it serves both of our purposes." He walked about the room looking at everything.

"For now the hanyou's death is of little use to me. As it stands I have little to gain from his demise. I can not use the Tetsusaiga, all I would lose is a half-brother."

He laughed evilly, "I have heard quite a few things and perhaps now I will find out the truth."

"I do not have the patience to deal with your games hanyou."

"Forgive me Lord Sesshoumaru. It's just I've heard that you and Inuyasha have joined forces, as well as that the girl, Kagome, restored your arm. Or maybe I have been lied to?"

"Where have you heard these things?"

He smirked, his eyes showing how much he believed this. "Why from a wolf youkai."

Inside Sesshoumaru was seething, 'I should have killed him when I had the chance.' Sesshoumaru's face betrayed nothing to Naraku. "A wolf?"

"Yes, one that is quite intent on my death as well. Kagura overheard him talking to the remaining members of his pack. It was very interesting to hear that you, Lord Sesshoumaru, were with Inuyasha and threatened to kill Kouga. Or was he lying?"

Sesshoumaru smirked despite his efforts to keep a straight face. "No, it isn't a lie. I have allied myself with the hanyou and did threaten the wolf's life."

"I thought as much. Why did you join with him?" Naraku's face held a scowl as he addressed the Western Lord. "And why threaten Kouga? He is also allies with Inuyasha."

"The wolf talks far too much for my liking. As for the alliance, I was told you have plans to take Rin and use her against me."

"I see, and was Kagome restoring your arm part of the deal?"

He lied, "Yes."

"I suppose you did what you felt was best." He turned and walked to the door. The door opened and he stepped out, as the door was just sliding closed he looked at Sesshoumaru, "Hopefully you do not come to regret your decision Lord Sesshoumaru."

When he was gone Sesshoumaru let his displeasure show. His face held a scowl as he thought about Naraku's words. With a growl he called his two strongest warriors to him using telepathy.

They arrived shortly after his call arguing about something. The door opened to show two youkai that acted like they were related but weren't.

Sitora growled, "No, the reason he lost is he's way too confident. His defeat slapped him with some humility. Besides, if he didn't brag he wouldn't be unconscious."

Youko shook his head slowly, "You used too much force on someone like him. He didn't know what he was talking about."

"Doesn't matter. He shouldn't have made that comment about my gender or species." When she looked at Sesshoumaru she smiled, "Hiya Sesshoumaru. What's up?"

His eyebrows rose, "What is the dispute about this time?"

Youko groaned and slapped a hand over his eyes as Sitora went into another rant. "You had to get her started." He received a death glare from the tiger youkai.

"Some new guy was joking and said that I needed protecting while we were on the field. And he said that if it rained I wouldn't be fighting since cats don't like water."

Youko sat down, "Now tell him what you did to the poor kid."

"I told him that if he won in a fight with me I'd give you, Lord Sesshoumaru, a kiss and if he lost he would kiss Youko here." She motioned to Youko who rolled his eyes in response. Sitora sat down next to Youko, "Of course that earned him another black eye."

Sesshoumaru chuckled, it felt good to be home. "And who set the punishments?"

Sitora laughed, "I set both of them. I guess he figured you'd kill me if I kissed you." She shrugged, "Too bad he didn't know we're friends."

Sesshoumaru shook his head lightly, "I have called you two here for a reason."

Both sets of eyes fell on Sesshoumaru, all humor was absent from their eyes. Now it was time to work.

"Just recently I was approached by Inuyasha to form an alliance. There are two reasons why I agreed to join him. The first being Rin, it seems that Naraku had planned on kidnapping her. Secondly I have decided to take a mate, she travels with Inuyasha."

Sitora thought for a second, "Kagome?"

"Yes, Kagome. I do not want it getting out that I plan to mate her until we have mated. I will be staying here and I want you two to go watch over Kagome and her companions. You will leave in two hours."

Sitora raised her hand, "I want to fight Inuyasha, can I?"

Sesshoumaru almost smiled at her enthusiasm. "I do not care, just don't kill him."

She smiled and stood up, "We'll keep an eye on them Lord Sesshoumaru."

Youko stood up next to her, "I'll make sure she doesn't kill Inuyasha."

They both bowed, then left to prepare to leave the castle.

Youko followed Sitora to her room in silence.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing Sitora." His eyes were focused ahead.

She sighed, "I know you're lying and I won't stop bugging you until you tell me." They stopped at her room and Sitora opened the door.

Youko followed her in, "What if something is bothering me? Why would you care to know, it is my problem after all."

"That's what friends are for Youko." She went to her closet and opened it. Sitora took out her katana and strapped it to her back.

'That is the problem.' He sat on her bed and just watched her. Youko smirked, her tail was twitching. "I see someone's excited to fight Inuyasha."

"Yeah, I mean you know how strong he is. And other than you and Sesshoumaru I haven't had a good fight in a while." She turned around, smiling until she saw the frown on his face, "Youko?" Sitora walked up to him and put her hand on his shoulder. He shook it off. "What is wrong? You've never acted like this before."

"Just finish up so we can leave." He didn't dare look up at her, his fury had caused his eyes to shift from gold to crimson.

"No," Her voice held defiance. "I want you to tell me what is going on."

"It doesn't matter."

"Yes it does!" Still he didn't look at her. "It matters to me. Don't I count anymore?"

Youko was silent, 'What can I say to that?' His sigh was loud and filled with anguish, "I really don't want to talk about it Sitora."

"Talking about your problems is the best medicine for it Youko." She turned from him, giving up.

"It's a problem I'm having with a male."

She turned back and faced him, "Okay, a male. So what is this problem?"

He groaned, "This is stupid never mind."

"No, you started so you are going to finish."

"I slept with him."

Her eyes went wide and she blushed, "Oh, so what is the problem?"

"He's acting like nothing even happened and I don't know what to do." Youko stood up, "Come on we should go now."

Sitora smiled, "You know you aren't getting out of this conversation that easily. We will pick up this conversation later Youko." Sitora opened her door and grinned back at the kitsune, "Wait until Sesshoumaru hears about this." With that she took off down the hall with Youko following right behind her.
