Chapter 6 Waking Up and Singing

 

Kagome had finally arrived home it wasn't a big palace like Sesshomaru had, but just a normal sized home with about a mile of forest behind it. She only used the palace when she had parties or meetings. Other than that she stayed here and lived with her pack of German shepherd youkais and Kirara.

 

While Kagome walked up the drive way, so deep in thought, she didn't notice the pack of pups charging at her, until Rumel, the leader of the pups jumped on her and knocked her down. Then he proceeded to lick her face in a happy greeting.

 

The fact, that the big black, tan, and brown puppy wasn't that small anymore, he was nearly a year old. Kagome pushed him off and gave him a disapproving look. When Rumel and the other pups saw this they put their ears back and their tails between their legs that is until the older dogs came into the view. Meka, a white puppy, went over to her father, and leader of the pack, King. He was pure white. She whined at him, and then he bunt his head down to lick her cheek, telling her it was okay for her and the other pups to go play.

 

“So did you guys miss me?” Kagome asked. Kora was the first of the adults to respond. She went over and rubbed her head against Kagome's hand. Kagome happily itched behind each one of her ears. Kora looked just like Rumel seeing as they were brother and sister. Next came Leake (These are German names.) he looked just like Kora and Rumel but was twice their size. He sat down on Kagome's left and waited to get some attention. Udine came next she got tired of waiting to get petted too, so she sat down right in front of Kagome and whined. Udine was black on her back, face, and tail but her stomach was tan.

 

King gave Kagome a look that said, `you can come over here and pet me, but I won't come to you.' “King I'm hurt, you guys and the pups are the only family that I rally have besides Sesshomaru.” Kagome acted. King gave what sounded kind of like a snort and then he walked over to her.

 

~Why do you have another scent on you? ~ King thought while he was getting his ears scratched by Kagome.

 

~Why do you care? ~ Kagome thought.

 

~Well, like you said, we are the only family you've got besides Sesshomaru. ~ Udine thought.

 

~And you bought us and turned us into demon dogs so we could protect you and be your family remember? ~ Kora butted in.

 

~Why are all of you ganging up on me? I wish I had never made you guys like Kirara. ~ Kagome thought.

 

~Well, that's hurtful. ~ Leake thought.

 

~Fine, if you must know. Koenma sent his Spirit Detectives to `protect' me and the one you smell on me is the one that was in charge of taking car of me. ~ Kagome thought getting annoyed at her `pets.'

 

~If you say so. Now if you don't mind could you get us some food because we're all hungry? ~ All the dogs thought in unison.

 

~Sure, why not? ~ Kagome thought. She then went inside and started getting food together.

`God, the nerve of them they are suppose to be my `pets' and they give me hell about why I have some other scent on me.' I thought as I put the last bowl of food down. I gave a loud whistle and all the pups came in one at a time, which shocked me but I counted to make sure all of them were there. First came Rumel he acted so much like his dad. Then came Meka she looked like her dad but acted like her mom Udine. After Meka, Ty came in he looked like a replica of his mom and was laid back like her too. Last but not least came Shamone she was white with a black face and tail she was a mix in between both parents.

 

While the dogs ate, Kagome thought some more about what happened between her and Hiei. `I hope he doesn't hate me. Why did he kiss me? Why do I even care? God, it's not like any thing really happened between us, so I need to stop dwelling on it.' After Kagome came out of her mussing she said goodnight to everyone and went to her room.

 

Kagome's room had dark blue walls and dark blue carpeting. At the far end of the room there were two big windows with blue curtains. On the other side of the room was Kagome's bed it had dark blue silk covers with the same type of pillows, it also had a canopy with dark blue curtains on it. On the right side of the room stood Kagome's desk with her computer, also a dresser and a book shelf. On the left side of the room there was a closet and two doors one led to the hall way and the other led to her bathroom.

 

Kagome got ready for bed, while she wondered how long it would take for Sesshomaru to find out Naraku was back. With that last thought in mind Kagome drifted off into a nightmare filled sleep.

As Hiei started to wake up he heard yelling that went along the lines of this. “How the hell could this happen? Koenma is going to be so pissed and where the hell is Hiei? He should have stopped her from getting away!” Hiei guessed that had to have been Yusuke more than likely. That wasn't Hiei's most important problem now he needed to figure out how he got outside and on the ground. It took a few seconds but the events of last night to come back. `Aw shit, how the hell could I let this happen? I came so close to losing my control on my instincts. Then I lose the bitch that knocked me out. Koenma is going to throw me back into jail for this, I know it, and I'll be damned if I got to go back.' Hiei got up and went to tell Yusuke what happened.

“How could you let this happen? I mean I expected something like this happening to Yusuke, but not from you Hiei and Kurama.” Koenma all but yelled.

 

“What do you mean you'd expect me to screw up and let a girl get away?” Yusuke bellowed back pissed off, that his own boss didn't think he could do a simple job like babysitting a girl for crying out loud.

 

“Well the truth is, Yusuke, you have a tendency to mess things up. But that is not the case right now. The case is we have a missing inu-youkai.” Koenma stated, looking at the bewildered look on Yusuke's face.

 

“I don't see why it matters. We got the information we need from her, so why do we have to protect her still?” Kuwabara asked.

 

“For once the idiot has made a good point. Why do we still have to protect the stupid girl if we got the information we need?” Hiei asked in a cold voice.

 

“Because, Kagome has no heir and if she were to be killed a war would start between the other rulers of the other lands and lesser youkai would try to gain power of the western lands that's why.” Koenma said.

 

“If Kagome were to die wouldn't Lord Sesshomaru take power over the lands, again?” Kurama asked.

 

“No, sadly once he stepped down from his position as lord he can't regain power over the lands neither can his children.” Koenma said in a serious voice.

 

“So what do you need us to do toddler?” Yusuke asked.

 

“Well, I'm going to find out all I can on where she might be, but until then I just need you to search around for her and if you find her bring her here.” Koenma said with a dejected sigh.

I woke up in a cold sweat. I had that horrible nightmare again. It never seemed to leave me alone in peace. For some reason I knew it probably wouldn't for a while. As I looked to the clock it read 2:00 a.m. I thought about what I had to do today and then remembered that before I met Hiei I had signed up for a singing competition and that Sesshomaru and his family were going to come see me perform.

 

`I had better go and pick out the songs I'm going to sing.' I thought as I got out of bed.

“Now that I have the day off, I guess I can finally take Keiko out on a date and not be interrupted.” Yusuke thought out loud to himself. “Just where do I take her?” Yusuke asked to no one specific.

 

“I heard that the club by our house is holding a singing contest, and the people who are singing are supposed to be really good.” Kurama suggested.

 

“Well, why don't we all just go then, because I'm sure my Yukina would love to go.” Kuwabara said, not noticing how Hiei flexed his claws when he called Yukina his. This didn't go unnoticed by Kurama and Yusuke though.

 

“I guess so, why not? I mean Kurama you could really use this opportunity to actually go on a date with Botan.” Yusuke teased.

 

“But Yusuke I don't…” Kurama tried to say but was cut off by Yusuke.

 

“Don't go saying you don't like her, everyone but her knows you do. So now it's time for you to show her that you like her, because it has just gotten ridicules that you stare at her all the time but never tell her how you feel.” Kurama just gave Yusuke a bewildered look.

 

“I got to say that was a very good speech for some one so stupid, Yusuke.” Hiei said in his normally cold voice.

 

“You need to go too Hiei.” Yusuke said. Hiei almost face faulted.

 

“Why do I need to go?” Hiei asked.

 

“Because you need to get out more and find yourself a nice girl.” Yusuke said as if it were obvious. Kurama was trying to hide the fact that he was laughing while Kuwabara was just flat our rolling.

 

“You know *laugh* he's got a point there *laugh* shrimp!” Kuwabara got out in between fits of laughter, while Hiei wanted to kick his head in so bad but decided against it.

Kagome didn't know why but she felt nervous even though she didn't show it. She knew all the songs she was going to sing, now all she had to do was wait to be called up on stage. That's when the speaker started to talk.

 

“Okay, ladies and gentlemen Tonight we are having a contest. This is how it works. I will call out a contestant and they will come out and sing their song. After, they are done you have to vote for that person by clapping, yelling, whatever. The person who gets the crowd to cheer the loudest wins, now tonight's contest will be split up into three different groups: the elimination round, semi finals, and finals. Okay, now let's get started. Will contestant number one please come up.”

 

A girl with pink hair stepped onto the stage. She was wearing a red tank top, black mini skirt, and thigh high boots. She also had on an assortment of bracelets on. It took a minute for the music to start playing, but when it did Kagome knew what song it was.

When the girl got done singing the crowd went wild. Kagome thought she was doomed. Then the announcer called out the next contestant. He was a boy with short spiky hair he also had a black T-shirt and black baggy pants on.

Kagome didn't think it was possible for the crowd to get any louder but they did. Then it was her turn.

Author's Notes: I am so sorry I haven't been able to update because my laptop was dead and to make things worse it wouldn't charge. Luckily last night I got it to charge and I waited until after school to call Staples to see if they would have a battery or charger I could use for my laptop but they said I would have to go through Gateway or Circuit City. Damn that helps when I can't even get on the internet to see how to get a hold of them. But when I brought it up stairs, you know that trick where you wet (not with water) the plug in, well I wetted the plug-in that didn't work. Then I went to the main charger that connects the plug-in and the plug-in to the computer that didn't work either. Then finally I wetted the part that actually plugs into the computer. It actually worked so not here I am. But it seems that I need to get a new charger. But yeah whatever, so you can be expecting a new chapter soon, if my computer doesn't go out again, so hang in there and keep on coming back. I really appreciate the reviews. Please keep reviewing!
