Last Time:
Slowly she allowed herself to sink into her own mind where she could easily see her power swirling around her core, it was there in which she trained. In her own mind she carried no pup within her and she couldn’t truly harm herself. Her energy was flowing around her body and surrounding her in a type of violet mist. It was not enough though, and she called her reiki to surround her as well. The effect knocked her on her rear, but she kept at it, telling herself that she needed to be strong enough to protect them.

This Time:

Time seemed to be moving so fast as the two women spent the days together with Kagome’s family. It was an enjoyable experience for Sango as she could barely remember her own mother. Kun-loon treated her as her own child and was excited at the prospect of having two little ones in the house. As it was, Kagome’s baby would be born two or three months sooner than Sango’s, which meant that Kagome would be able to care for hers for a while before she had to leave.

Looking at the two girls, the mother smiled softly at how happy the two seemed. She remembered how it felt to be expecting your first child, and she remembered how excited her husband had looked. Thinking of the man had her sighing when she thought of the news her father had given her. Shaking those thoughts away, she started making breakfast for the family. Her family, just thinking that as she looked at the two girls made her smile. Her family, it was about to get larger.

Kagome was sitting at the table waiting for breakfast that morning when she suddenly felt a tremendous pain in her abdomen which caused her to double over. Everyone within sight ran to her side, trying to make sure she was ok. Energy wrapped around her body encasing mainly her abdomen as a stretching feeling took over the pain and her tummy began expanding. Souta, Kun-loon, and Sango all backed away until the energy dissipated and Kagome looked up at them with glittering eyes, “only a week at most now.”

“Are you sure that you’re alright to be traveling now Kagome? Kitsune are targeted as soon as they show, and you said your time had its demons,” Sango tried persuading in order to keep her friend there.

“I’m only going to collect Yukina.”

“Isn’t there another way? I mean, I could go in your stead to get her.”

“It’s not safe for you to be out either, with how far along you are, Sango.” After pausing for a moment, an idea suddenly popped into her head and she smiled before calling Tsuki to her and writing a quick letter. “Will you take this to Yukina for me and bring her back here?”

The little kitten ‘mew’ed and easily took the note before running out the window and transforming. Sango looked at her with a smile, “that was a wonderful idea.”

“Well, neither of us wants the other to leave, and it was the easiest solution. Now I need to contact Hikari and see where Hiei is and what he’s doing.” As she said that, she sat down on her bed and began concentrating until she could see the cord connecting her to the little kit and she soothed it open with ease. (Are you there Hikari?)

(Yes mistress.)

(Where is Hiei?)

(He is still training with the strange demoness.)

(Where are they?)

(I believe we are in the place called Makai. I followed them through some portal type thing and we were in this place. There are blood red skies and demons everywhere. I feel no human presence.)

(Really? What is it like there?)

(This place crackles with energy and it seems that even the plants are alive.)

(Interesting, but I will need your help soon.)

(Mistress?)

Kagome sighed, trying to ignore the ‘mistress’ title as she had given up on them not calling her that. (I am showing which means the pup will be born soon.)

(Shall I inform master Hiei?)

(Inform him? How?)

(I would use telekinetic energy to brush past his barrier and speak with him as I do you?)

(You don’t need to be bonded to do that?)

(I have a gift for telepathic powers since I am connected to you mistress.)

(Me?)

(Hai, you are a powerful telepath, or at least, you will be once you hone your power.)

(Then why haven’t you spoken to people in that way before?)

It was easy for Kagome to tell that the kit cocked her head to the side; it caused a giggle to echo through the bond. (I prefer not to force my entry into other’s minds, but with Master Hiei it would be important to him to know that his mate-to-be is having his child.)

“How are you feeling Kagome?” asked the young ice maiden as she once again had to share energy with the girl.

“So very tired,” the dark haired girl informed her as her eyes tried to shut. Tsuki and Kirara made noises as they curled onto her and began pushing their own energy into her.

“Our energy seems to not be enough, you will need Hiei soon. I will call Kurama and see if he can locate him.”

“No need, Hikari is following him in case something like this happened. I can have her bring him here.”

“Then you need to do so soon, or there could be complications. You said you just started showing yesterday, right?”

“Hai.”

“I think you will go into labor today though, which is quite strange with what I’ve heard of kitsune pregnancy. I’m going to call Kurama over so he can help out.”

“I don’t wanna be any trouble.”

“Oh don’t worry, he won’t mind.”

As she left the room, Kagome closed her eyes and quickly fell asleep feeling as if she were drained and completely out of energy. It was beginning to look like nothing could sustain her energy now. Once she was out, Tsuki ‘mew’ed at Kirara and jumped up. It was time to go after Hiei and they needed him now. With the way it looked, Kagome wouldn’t be able to summon him since she could barely stay conscious.

Kurama was cleaning his apartment when he received Yukina’s phone call, and he was surprised when he found out it was concerning Kagome’s pregnancy. When told the details, he told her that he’d be right over and quickly gathered all that he thought he would need to help. He was out the door in only a few minutes and was quickly moving through the city to get to the Sunset Shrine.

It was a quick journey and he knocked on the door as soon as he arrived. Sango let him in and ushered him upstairs to where Yukina was patiently waiting next to their friend. As soon as he saw her he was shocked at her state, “she’ll need her mate, and soon.”

“She said she could contact him, but she can’t seem to stay conscious long enough to do so.” Yukina seemed so upset about that as the girl could only retain consciousness for a few minutes once she woke up.

“Kirara says that Tsuki went after him though,” Sango was looking at the little neko as she purred and continued to steadily push energy into the girl.

“We need to get her more energy and she needs it fast. Her pregnancy is reacting to her unstable blood and all the stress that she’s been through.”

“What do you want me to do?” both girls had asked at the same time.

“Her body is becoming overheated, so I need you to keep her cool, ok Yukina? And Sango, I need you to boil water for me to mix herbs in.”

“Alright,” both girls once again said simultaneously as they both began their own assigned tasks.

Kagome shifted with a slight moan of pain as Kurama looked over at her and started pulling seeds from his hair. It was hard to concentrate when her energy began spiking erratically. As Kurama was growing the plants, he continually tried getting a hold of Hiei using their link, but it was being blocked and he assumed it was because Hiei was in the Makai.

As soon as he had finished growing all the herbs, Sango had brought up the boiled water followed closely by Kun-loon who was very worried for her daughter. It had been several hours since this had started and she had yet to wake up. It was causing the woman to worry very badly and she had even sent Souta to a friend’s house and closed the shrine to visitors. So much was going on and there seemed to be so little time.

Her sweet little girl was in so much pain and it seemed that she might not make it if her boyfriend didn’t arrive soon. It was terrible because she didn’t seem to be able to do anything for her little girl. Kagome was lying in her bed and shifting uncomfortably while moaning in pain, it was so horrible to watch, but that was all she could do; watch.

Hiei was battling with Mukuro once again when he sensed a coming presence and shadows began to surround the battlefield as black flames roared to life and rose from the ground. He recognized the neko that accompanied them as Mukuro looked at it in distaste. It ‘mew’ed loudly and a little kit ran out from where he sensed a hiding presence and he was surprised to find out it was also Kagome’s kit.

(Master Hiei, Mistress needs you now. Tsuki says she is in labor as well as great pain. Yukina sent for Kurama to help, but she needs you now.) The words echoed through the air as the kit projected her thoughts.

Surprise flashed briefly through Hiei’s eyes before he zipped off. Increasing his speed he relayed his urgency about the situation to Mukuro so that he could hurry onward to his future mate. He was unsure on how long ago the little neko had left to find him, or long it had taken her to get to him. It took only a few moments before shadows began swirling around him as Tsuki caught up and suddenly Hikari was on his shoulder filling him in on what had happened and how long Kagome had been in her present state.

Tsuki had showed her everything and she now gave it all to Hiei so that he knew of the importance, Hikari’s own energy surrounded her in a nervous manner as she worried for her mistress. It seemed to take them forever to reach the shrine, but when they did they could hear the pained moans coming from the room that everyone seemed to occupy. Hikari immediately flew from Hiei’s shoulder and into the room to curl onto her mistress and begin feeding her energy, Tsuki right behind her.

Hiei was there an instant later and the room began to feel suffocating as his energy began to cloak it. Dark energy seemed to be swirling everywhere as his aura wrapped itself firmly around his onna and began to soothe her. Slowly his energy made progress and she stilled before her eyes began to open. “Hiei?”

“I’m here, Kagome,” he gently stroked her face as his energy continued to soothe her body. With him there, she would be able to stay awake long enough to birth the child; then she could rest.

It was a grueling few hours and Yukina was tiring over all that she had to do, even with the aid of Kurama it was still difficult. Never before had she experienced a birthing process that was this difficult and she was inexperienced at dealing with such things. Kurama had never actually helped birth a child before, but he understood that what was occurring with Kagome was worse than normal. He also knew that she needed to have the baby soon.

Hiei wasn’t too happy about Kurama being in the room, but he understood the necessity of it as he could also feel that his sister was weakening. He was happy that Kurama was keeping his distance though. Him being as close as he was; was trying his patience enough. His mate was in a very vulnerable state and that was making him weary of others being near her; at least, he perceived her as his mate in that moment. No matter what, she was going to be his.

It took many grueling hours and once energy from the father was being fed into her, she was able to stay conscience and didn’t make a sound. Everyone was still worried though, as they all continued feeding energy into her to make sure that her energy remained stable. It was well into the night and a full moon was glowing bright when a cry was heard by all in the house. It had been such a long time and all of the room’s occupants were tired and wanting nothing more than sleep.

Sleep was still a ways away though as the baby fussed and refused to quit its whining. Yukina gently looked the baby over and smiled as she told them that he was ok. Yes, Kagome had given Hiei a little boy. Just as she was about to hand the baby to Kagome, he quit whining and she cringed as another contraction wracked her body. The ice maiden quickly handed the little boy off to Sango and returned to her current patient. Checking over her once more, she noticed that the young woman was once again fully dilated.

Kurama pulled out a few more herbs thinking that maybe she was in pain or that something had gone wrong, but a shake of the maiden’s head stopped him. Hiei looked to her, and so she softly explained: “she’s once more in labor; it seems that she was carrying twins.”

“Twins?” asked Hiei in a somewhat surprised tone.

“Hai Hiei, it appears another child will be arriving soon.”

Morning came and the sun shined brightly through the entire house it seemed, as all the occupants would rather sleep in a while longer. Kurama had ended up taking Souta’s room while Sango offered to share her own with Yukina. Hiei obviously stayed in Kagome’s room with the two new children of the house. The oldest boy was named Hotaro while the youngest boy was named Kenji; both children seemed attached to each other as they cried when separated. That was found out when Kurama realized that Hotaro’s whining stopped as soon as Kagome was once again in labor. He tested the theory after Kenji was born by taking him from the room, and boy did he have a set of lungs.

As the sun shone down on the new family, Hiei’s eyes opened to look at his future mate and children. A small barely there smile touched his lips. Stretching out one of his hands, he gently stroked her pale face and brushed strands of hair behind her ear. The movement barely caused her to shift as she stayed asleep. The two little twins both nuzzled closer to her and buried their little faces into her side.

It would be a few hours before the three woke up and Kagome would still be so exhausted, but she would know that her children needed food. As it was, she had decided to breast feed for as long as possible. Right now it appeared as if she would have a few months, since for every month that passed in her time, only a day passed in the feudal era. It would also seem that Inuyasha might let Sango and Miroku spend some time with their child in her world.

So much seemed to be happening and there was just so little time for it all to happen in. It seemed as if they were getting a little extension, but at the same time, they weren’t. So many thoughts were swirling through the young girl’s head, and she was just so confused over all that was happening. As she held both of her children, she grew amazed at how much she had in her life, but at the same time, she realized just how much she risked to lose if they failed in their quest.

So much rested on their shoulders, yet now was not the time to think about that. Now was a time for joy and celebration as she looked adoringly down at the twins that were slowly consuming their first meal. That was when she noticed something odd; it was the fact that neither of the twins seemed to hold any human energy. Sure they had reiki, but no human aura surrounded them, almost as if they were full demon. The stunning realization caused her to gasp and wonder how it was possible, or even if anyone had noticed; other than herself.

Once the two had finished feeding, she stood and moved to her closet, where she pulled out a soft kimono. It was very slow going as it ached slightly to walk. What it felt like was nothing compared to some of the injuries she had sustained during her time in the feudal era. Walking back to her bed, she lifted both twins into her arms and made her way down stairs. It was very easy to carry them both as they seemed to be able to hold on quite well.

When she reached the kitchen, she smiled at her mother and tired friends. “Morning Kurama, Yukina, Sango. What are we having for breakfast?”

As soon as they noticed her, she was ushered to the table and each of the other girls took one of her children so they could play with them. “I’m so jealous Kagome, you had two boys.”

“You’ll have a boy too Sango, if not this time then next.” At the implement in her voice, the pregnant woman turned bright red.
