Chapter 2: Surprises and Staying with Yusuke

The kids name was Yutaka, Musashi. If there ever was to be a more annoying asshole than him, she would love to know him. Then she would kick both their asses. Ironically his last name, Yutaka, meant rich and his family name held up well in society. All of the girls at her school would fawn over him and daydream about one day marrying him. "Pff. Yeah right. The only one he thinks about is himself. If given the chance, I would bet money, he would marry himself." Kagome thought as she rummaged through the families possessions. The house Yutakas' lived in a cherry colored mansion. The shutteres on the outside were a light pink and had some really interseting outside lights. The truth is they never really had any lights outside except for the front porch.

No one could really figure that one out even the Yutakas. The only think out of place on the house was the door. It had been painted a light purple color and had nothing to do with any of the colors outside. Kagome had always hated this house for many reasons but, one was the color of the house. The two storied house was huge was an under statement of the century. A pool, that could carry probably more that 60 people, in the backyard. As well as a pool house, that housed who knew what.

When Kagome finally got into the house she entered through the basement window. It wasn't latched, go figure, and was easily opened. The basement was filled with a surround sound stereo, a huge flat screen tv, a bar, stripper poles, and small rooms in the corners. Shuddering at the thought of being down here when anything went on sent Kagome flying up the carpeted stairs. Peaking her head arround the corner she heard smooth rythmic breathing all through the house. "Not a creature was sturring, not even a mouse. Except for the fox who will soon find the shiny stuff. Man I hated that story, too many rhymes in it." Quickly and quietly, and after opening many doors, she found the office of the father.

After turning the handle with her demon strength it gave way and swung open. She went over to the light wooden desk and rummaged through the file cabnits and file drawers. Not finding what she was looking for, which she really had no idea what she was looking for, she was about ready to head out when a silver and green glass dragon caught her eye. Carefully picking it up Kagome examined it with her delacite, but deadly, claws. She remembered over hearing one day, Yutaka started to brag about a glass dragon. He said it was to be passed down to him when his father handed over the companies. Kagome assumed it was supposed to be a symbol of leadership or something. She decided she would keep it for now and while she was at it make a generous donation to the orphanage. Going back to the desk a check set out with Yutakas

signature on it. She wrote a decent amount and made it out to the orphanage of her choice. Grabbing an envelope she wrote out the address and made sure they were to recieve credit for their "generous" donation. "They might as well give back too." She thought haughtily. Sliding the check into her pants pocket, with her golden rose gem, she opened the window from the office and jumped out. Kagome ran to the nearest mailbox, dropped her letter into the slot, and ran back to the shrine. Collapsing on her newly transformed light blue bed, she turned back to normal and stared at her ceiling. Her thoughts went back to that day when they met the Lord of the North. She really had to fight down a blush that threatened to rise to her cheeks. "That would have been way too embarrassing to think about. I also can't believe I lost my temper like that." Rolling over on her side she stared at her dark wooded desk. " It must be from hanging around Inuyasha all the time." Sitting up from her

bed, she took out the gem and put it in her dresser drawer. Kagome had aquired a temper over the years, if she got extremely mad she would throw or kick stuff so it would break. If it didn't break on the first try, she made sure it didn't ever see the light of day again. She had always assumed it was from her fathers side or relativly close to that. Her mother had told her, that her cousin from her fathers side, had the same temper. Kagome was glad that no one on this side of the family had inheirited a drinking problem though but, after her father died her Aunt was never really the same again. None of them really were, she hadn't seen her cousin in over thirteen years. They were six years old but, that day was also the last day they ever did anything together. That was the day her father had died and no one really had gotten over the shock. Kagome realized it wasn't only her mother that had been hit hard, it was her Aunt. After his funeral her Aunt took her cousin home, but not before snatching a bottle of whiskey, her father had stashed away for special occations, on thier way home.

When her mother found out that her Aunt had started to drink heavily and steadily become and alcoholic. She didn't want her or Sota hanging around them. Kagome was quickly pulled out of her musings when her Sota opened the door to her room. "Hey sis. I didn't know you were back." She grinned an evil grin. "I know. Now want to tell me what you are doing in here, when I'm not supposed to be here." "Uh..." Sota ran out the door and back down the steps with Kagome hot on his heels. "Get back here you little twerp. I'm going to throttle you!" Kagome seethed. The tearing through the house would have had neighbors calling the police, if they had any. Sota ran behind Mrs. Higurashi who had just finished putting away groceries.

Sota used their mom as a shield to protect himself from his crazed sister. "I will get you, you little brat." "Ah!! Mom Kagome has finally gone crazy!" Sota yelped as Kagome grabbed a hold of his t-shirt. "Now break it up you two." Mrs. Higurashi pulled her two children away from each other. "Now will someone tell me what is going on?" "I didn't do anything mom, she just went ballistic." Sota started. "Oh that is a bunch of bull shit Sota. He was going through my room trying to search for my journal!" Kagome yelled. Sota yelled back. "I was not. Your just afraid mom will find something in there that's not supposed to be." "Oh yeah like what you little rat!!" "Oh who knows with you anymore!" Kagome reached for her

brother again but he hid behind thier mom. Mrs. Higurashi raised her voice. "I want both of you to stop it right now! Kagome I will not have you swearing in this house, do you understand me?" Kagome knodded her head yes. "Yes, mama." Mrs. Higurashi turned towards Sota. "And you young man. Are to stay out of your sisters room, do you understand?" Sota knodded his head yes. "Yes mama." "Sota get ready for bed you have school tomarrow." Sota groaned and walked up the stairs but not without running for his life first. Kagome tried to grab him again but he squirmed away. Mrs. Higurashi turned towards her daughter. "Kagome Higurashi I don't know what has gotten into you." Kagome sat on a chair with her mother in front of her. "You have never acted like this. Your attitude has changed on many things and your becoming destructive."

Kagome just stared at her mother and she realized she was right. "Now I don't know what is going on over there in the Feudal Era but, I don't want it coming into this house. I know you guys are under a lot of stress but, this isn't the way to vent it." Mrs. Higurashi sighed. Kagome just stared up at her mom. "What can I say to her? I can't tell her about being a demon, about what I do, or what is going on in the Feudal Era. It's bad enough that I make her worry. I won't be able to tell her about how Inuyasha treats me or the run in with Sesshomaru and Minako. The question really is..Is why am I becoming this way?" Mrs. Higurashi looked at her daughter deep in thought about something. She hoped it was from what she was talking about or maybe it was her friends. "Kagome...I think it might be best if you took a vacation." Kagome's head jerked up

rapidly. " I think you might want to stay with your cousin for a bit. You will be able to get away from your school, the Feudal Era, and maybe figure out why you are reacting this way." Kagome's eyes softened and filled with unshed tears. "Mama, there are so many things that I wish...I could tell you. But I can say that you don't have to worry about anything." Kagome hugged her mother and released her. Mrs. Higurashi smiled a loving smile and wiped away her fallen tears. " Well we might as well get you ready. I have already talked to your Aunt Atsuko and Yusuke will be picking you up from the train station around noon tomarrow." She couldn't believe it, her mother had known she was going to say yes, or was it if she didn't answer she would have to go anyways. Oh well it didn't really matter now. She gets to see her cousin, go on vacation, forget about jewel shard hunting..."Oh Shit. Inuyasha is going to murder me." "Mama, I will have to tell Inuyasha about me leaving then. He's not going to be very happy about this." Mrs. Higurashi smiled. "Leave him to me ok sweetie. You go, have fun, and relax." After thier mother-daughter talk, Kagome went to bed and Mrs. Higurashi went to tuck in Sota.
