InuYasha Fan Fiction / Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Think of Me ❯ Think of me ( Chapter 1 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Hey everybody this is Imouto-san. Neechan wont be helping me on this one unless she wants to, but she's not really into song-fics so I'm not sure. But for right now its only me. So far this is only a one-shot, but if I get enough feedback saying that I should, I'll continue it making it into a full-fic. I was listening to country *gasp! How dare I?!* and decided that this song would fit the mood greatly if the following events were ever to occur. Alright enough with me, read the fic!

Yusuke was laying on his bed, staring at the ceiling thinking about all that had taken place earlier that day. He brushed his fingers through his jet black hair and sat up. Looking at his bedside clock it read three a.m. After what had happened earlier he couldn't sleep.

Woke up early this morning around four a.m.

With the moon shining bright

As headlights on the interstate

Keiko had been distant for weeks, he remembered asking her what was wrong, and she had told him it was nothing for the first couple days. He should have seen it coming, he should have seen the guilt and confusion clear on her face. But should haves were nothing that Urameshi Yusuke had control of at the moment, and he sure as hell couldn't change it now. He didn't know if he wanted to or not either.

I pulled the covers over my head

And tried to catch some sleep

But thoughts of us kept keeping me awake

Keiko had broken up with him earlier that day, or early yesterday depending on how you looked like it. She had told him that she still loved him, but her heart belonged to somebody else. As hard as he tried, Yusuke couldn't be mad at her. He was hurting like hell, but he couldn't be angry with them.

Ever since you've found yourself

in someone else's arms,

I've been trying my best to get along

But that's okay

There's nothing left to say but…

When it came down to it, it was Kurama that had stolen the girls heart. He wished them happiness, he only wished that it didn't come at his expense.

Right now he was in a lot of pain. It seemed like his mind was only tormenting him with memories and dreams that he had for them. His mind raced about what could have been, and what he was loosing.

Take your records, take your freedom

Take you memories I don't need them.

Take your space, and take your reasons

But you'll think of me

Take your cat and leave my sweater

`Cause we have nothing left to weather

In fact I'll feel a whole lot better

But you'll think of me

Finally deciding that he wasn't going to get any sleep tonight anyways, he got dressed and walked into the cold winter night. Maybe some coldness and the drifting snow would free his mind and numb the ache of his heart. Regardless of what people thought, the young spirit detective did feel pain, he just got over it faster than most people did.

I went out driving, trying to clear my head

I tried to sweep out all the ruins that my emotions left

I guess I'm feeling just a little tired of this

And all the baggage that seems to still exist

It seems the only blessing I have left to my name

Is not knowing what we could have been

What we should have been…so…

Walking for twenty minutes he reached a small clearing that held a single bench. It was then that he realized that he wasn't the only one out at this time, a girl who he guessed to be no younger than him was sitting on the bench. Sitting wasn't the right word, she was hunched over with her elbows on her knees, and her head on her hands. Her black hair was flowing down her face, hiding it from him. `Kindred spirit?', he thought to himself and slowly approached her. He noticed that the girl was whispering something into her hands and soft sobs came from her. Coming closer he could hear her singing…

Take your records, take your freedom

Take you memories I don't need them.

Take your space, and take your reasons

But you'll think of me

Take your cat and leave my sweater

`Cause we have nothing left to weather

In fact I'll feel a whole lot better

But you'll think of me

His eyes opened a fraction wider, she had a beautiful singing voice. It was like hearing an angel singing to him exactly what he was feeling. He put a hand on her shoulder, "You shouldn't be out here, it's dangerous to be alone so late at night." He told the girl. She looked up at him through tear-filled blue eyes, it was then that he realized how beautiful she was. Her cheeks were stained with tears, but she still looked so stunning that he shocked him.

"If it's so dangerous, why are you here?" she softly asked him, her blue eyes never leaving his brown ones.

"Don't know." He replied, "Need the cold to give me a kick."

"A kick?" She asked, confusion hinting in her voice.

"Yeah y'know a kick. Something to kick me so that I wouldn't think of other things. If I got a kick from the cold my mind wouldn't think." He told her sitting down, "Ya see, I kinda got single today, and it doesn't feel all that great. What's your poison?"

"I `got single' as you put it." She lightly laughed, "But it's a bit more than that…I `got single for his ex-girlfriend."

He laughed, "Well what'dya know? I got almost the same case but with me it was a friend of mine."

"Ooh, ouch." She winced.

"They'll regret it one day." He told her, "both mine and yours I guess. I mean, who wouldn't with two great catches like us?" He laughed a little bit more and winked at her.

Someday I'm gonna run across your mind

But don't worry I'll be fine

I'm gonna be alright

While you're sleeping with your pride

Wishing I could hold you tight

I'll be over you

And on with my life

She giggled a bit, which caused his smile to widen a bit more. They were both cheering up just having somebody to talk to that understood their pain. They just sat there talking like old friends would. Just enjoying each others company and momentarily forgetting why they were even out there.

Take your records, take your freedom

Take you memories I don't need them.

Take your space, and take your reasons

But you'll think of me

Take your cat and leave my sweater

`Cause we have nothing left to weather

In fact I'll feel a whole lot better

But you'll think of me

"A bit ironic don't you think?" She asked him, "I mean, here I am sitting on a bench in the middle of the night, and here you come along, similar situations and all."

"Great minds think alike." He told her plainly, not expecting her answer.

"You have a great mind?"

His eyes widened, "Hey! What do you mean by that?! You don't even know me remember." He scoffed at her.

She blinked at him. "You're the one out here at four in the morning, comforting a girl on a bench in the middle of a park, while it's snowing. I'm supposed to think you have a great mind?" she teased.

He countered quickly, "You're the one sitting out here in the middle of a park, while it's snowing, in the middle of the night and talking to some guy who you don't know. Who knows what I could be planning."

She sat there looking at him, tilting her head to the side a bit. Her blue eyes sparkled for a bit in the small light arriving from the horizon. He looked back at her wondering what she was thinking. She stood from the bench and faced him again, stretching out her hand.

"Higurashi, Kagome." The girl stated.

Yusuke blinked a bit, then realized she was introducing herself. He reached for her hand and shook it. "Urameshi, Yusuke." He told her, not releasing her hand from his. "Nice to meet you, Kagome."

"Nice to meet you too, Yusuke." She giggled a bit, "Now you can't say that we don't know each other, can you?"

"Guess not."

Kagome let go of his hand and turned to walk away from him, when he stopped her.

"Where are you gonna go?" Yusuke asked her, holding onto her arm a bit to stop her from moving.

She sighed a bit, "I have to go back home, I have… people who will be upset if I'm not back by a certain time." Shaking her head, her raven locks moving back and forth with it, "I just don't want another fight."

"I get it, bossy employer that doesn't let ya have a life?" he asked her.

She caught onto his double meaning and let out a small laugh, "Yeah, I guess you can call him that. You too, right?"

"Yep," he nodded, "I guess you can call him that." Winking at her he let go of her arm and backed up a step. "I guess I'll let ya go then Kagome."

She nodded slowly her thanks. "I guess I'll see you later…?"

He nodded and she started to walk away, then a thought hit him. "Next week?" He called to her. She stopped and looked at him with a questioning glance. "How about next week? You can meet me right here at this bench next Friday."

"Is that a request or a demand?" Kagome blinked and then smiled at him

"Both."

She groaned loud enough for him to hear. "Sounds more like a demand to me, but I'll try for it? What time?"

"Noon, next Friday."

"Sounds good. I have to get going now. See you later Yusuke." She waved and then was off again.

"Later Kagome." He whispered. He made the journey to his own house. He was thinking about his new-found friend and realized that he hadn't even been thinking about Keiko most the time he was talking to her.

You'll think of me…

You'll think of me…

If I get enough reviews I'll continue it, but only if you want to!
