InuYasha knew about the kitsune, Youko Kurama. He knew that he watched the group, specifically Kagome, from the trees. Several months ago he would have challenged him to a fight and demanded that he stop watching Kagome. However, ever since they had mated, his soul had calm down. He knew that Kagome was his and he hers. And nobody - human nor demon - would steal them away from one another.
Because of a recent storm that had flooded many paths and left many other villages ruined, the group had stayed with Kaede for several weeks. Over the next few weeks InuYasha and the rest of the group interacted with the kitsune himself. InuYasha knew Shippo enjoyed having another kitsune around.
He also knew that Kurama was falling in love with Kagome. He could sense it. His eyes would linger on her lips when she spoke, carefully watching her mouth move and taking in every word she said. He would stare into her eyes when she looked at him. And he would watch her move when she walked or played with others.
He noticed Kurama doing all these things, because he, InuYasha, did them all himself all the time. To say it didn't bother him at all would be a lie. However, unlike with Kouga, InuYasha knew that Kurama understood his boundaries. He knew Kurama would not try to seduce Kagome or steal her away from him (not that he would be able to). Say what you want about kitsune, but they knew that anyone mated was off limits to them unless their mate died.
He also knew that Kurama supplied Kagome with plants to make medicines for the village. And he knew that Kagome had given him a flower once. While others had expected this to bother him, it hadn't. Kagome had gained them a new ally and InuYasha knew that if Kurama was ever around when Kagome was in trouble, he would risk his own life to protect hers.
