Chapter 5: Relocation and Tension.
The following twenty four hours were hard on the Spirit Detectives. While the others got to stay in the spirit world, the detectives had to break it to their family and friends that they would not be back for a very very long time. Kuramas excuse was of course a scholarship over in the States. While his family cried, he told them he must leave immediately, and they did not fight him. Hiei said a silent goodbye to his sister from the tree outside her window. With nothing left to do he met the fox in the nearby park that was least frequented. They sat in silence waiting for their other two teammates.
Yusuke however had a much harder time breaking it to his girlfriend.
“YOUR GOING WHERE????” his petite girlfriend Keiko screamed at him, following the pan that went flying at his head.
“I'm off to save the damn world again Keiko! I just have to be relocated for it!” he dodged, ducked, and cowered, but nothing he could do would stop the cascade of items being thrown at him.
“WHY?? WHAT AM I SUPPOST TO DO JUST SIT HER AND WAIT FOR YOU??” She screamed, finally allowing the tears to pool into her eyes, displaying her true feelings.
Yusuke sighed, and pulled his crying girlfriend into his arms. “Look, there's nothing I can do about it... I don't know what you want from me Keiko, you know this is in my job description.”
“I know... it's just so hard to sit here with my normal everyday life, knowing I could never see you again.” she sniffed against his chest, the ache in her heart more then she could bare.
“I'll come back babe. I promise.”

Kuwabara had even more trouble then Yusuke. His hard ass older sister demanded he not go, for risk of getting kicked out of her apartment. He begged and pleaded, and asked, and cried. Nothing would work on her as she calmly smoked a cigarette leaning against the kitchen counter staring coolly at her younger brother. Finally, he gave up fighting, packed his clothes and things he would need without a word, and made to walk out the door, knowing that when he walked out, he wasn't welcome back. He got as far as the door before she called out.
“Kuwabara.” She called, and waited for him to turn, stiff backed, tears in his eyes, but stone faced to her.
“Just...come back in one piece ok?” she said defeat in her voice as she turned her head away from him, and the dainty hand holding her cigarette in midair shaking subtly.
A smile cracked his face as he droped his bags, and ran back to her, grabbing her in a bear hug and lifting her up before she could protest. “I promise sis, I'll come back.” She smacked his shoulder lightly and turned away from him. “Well...you better hurry up. I'm sure they're waiting on you.” She said softly, pulling another drag from her cigarette.
Kuwabara smiled at his sister. “Thank you Shizoru. I love you sis.” With that, he picked up his bag and walked out, door shutting behind him. When she stood alone in their apartment she whispered silently, “I love you too baby bro...” and with that she sighed and took another drag.

When all the boys stood in park, Yusuke pulled out his compact and barked at Botan to get them a portal. Shortly, they were walking back into the Spirit world, their bosses office back to its normal condition with him sitting behind the desk with a grim look on his face. It was almost dusk, and everyone could tell he was anxious. After a quiet minute, he leaned back with a sigh and looked at them with tired eyes. “Well boys, everyone that had a choice has agreed to help us. I am still waiting for word back from Lady Kagome. I feel without her and her army...we will fail.”

“Are you saying we ain't strong enough toddler??” Yusuke growled.
“Yes actually Yusuke I am.” Koema said with a sigh, and promptly put his head in his hands.
“Well, if she agrees, you won't need us right, since we are not good enough?” Kurama asked, his shrewd eyes trained on the tiny ruler.
“I never said that Kurama. I merely mean, you guys by yourself are not enough. You guys are great fighters and hold your own very well, but with out them... we are doomed in the end, no matter what sort of fight we put up.”

The Detectives sat in silence for a moment before Kuwabara spoke up. “Where is everyone else?”
“Well the Lords and Lady's are back in Makai settling their affairs. The rest are in the resting hold here in the spirit world. And that reminds me. You guys must understand, these are very powerful dangerous people you'll be working with, so please try and keep peace as much as possible. They might not want to fork up their life for the chance at killing one of you, but it may happen, so please, just try and act rational. ALL of you.” He spoke, eying Yusuke and Hiei.

:With the others in the rest hold:
Tension in the room was at breaking points. A whole day, kept together, and everyone was on edge. However no one had the courage to bring up the matter of Kagome, or any of their deaths. They just...made small talk. Nothing serious, lest a fight break out between someone. Suddenly the door to the resting room banged open, and the four guys from yesterday walked in. They all took seats close to the door and waited till they had everyone's attention. After a moment, the calm redhead spoke up.
“In order to make this whole army concept work, my group and I came to the conclusion that we must first know our Allies. Does anyone want to volunteer their information first?” He asked calmly, eyes scanning the room. Inuyasha stood up and growled. “And what the hell makes you think we'll tell you bastards anything thing??” he said, hands on his sword. The monk beside him stood up and placed an hand on his shoulder. “What my dear friend here is trying to say, is how do we know we can trust you with our tales?” He spoke calmly, yet his eyes were shrewd and watched the four with a calculating nature. Kurama studied the man for a moment before formulating his answer carefully. “Not everyone in this room trusts each other, from what I can tell. And it seems as if there is good reason for it. However, we must all work together, and if you can rely on each other despite your pasts, I'm sure you can find in you to tell us a bit about your life stories, since we also must work together, and have not yet given you a reason not to trust us.” With his words came a dead silence, and some shifting eyes as they eyed each other debating his words. The monk however merely smiled. “Well, I for one, have no problem telling you about myself, I fear I am not interesting enough to have anything to hide. However, one question if you will...why do you care enough to ask?” The fox started as he realized the violet eyes shined, showing that the monk had found out their motives already.
Smart human.”
Very. I can see why he is an asset.”
Surely there is no harm in spilling to them? They will all figure it out eventually.”
With the inner conversation going on, Kurama smiled slowly at the monk. “We were the only ones that knew nothing about yesterday, how you all know each other, and who that girl was. We would like to be let into the loop.”
The monk smiled and pushed his hanyou friend back into his seat and sat down himself, taking the woman that broke out in tears yesterday's hand in his.
Her name is Sango I believe.”
Your right Yoko, shes a demon slayer from the old times. Why did you bother to remember her name?”
Her display of emotion over the emotionless Queen peaks my curiosity.”
The monk spoke again, breaking the mental conversation.“Well....where to begin? Does anyone else want to tell the whole story, or should I?” He asked, looking around his comrades with an amused smile.
A man spoke up that had been quiet the entire time. “Hell if I knew the whole damn story myself, I would be a lot better off. I thought that bitch was human??” His voice was rough, and the look in his eyes was something akin to wonder and anger. His long braid hung over his shoulders and his elbows rested on his knees, intent on hearing the whole story.
Growls erupted from the Inu-hanyou, as his hands went to his sword, glaring at the man that spoke. “Watch your fucking mouth Hiten, or I'll shut you up myself.”
“Still defending her mutt? Doesn't look like she needs you anymore.” the man dubbed Hiten said, taunting the dog.
With a sigh, the monk held up his hand to the two ready to tear each others throats out. Instead he started to speak. “Well it started well before my time, with Mistress Kikyo, and Naraku over there.” He nodded dutifully at the two he spoke of. The detectives eyes roamed over the two, taking them in. Both however, ducked their heads. Naraku looking away, and Kikyo looking down at her wrung hands in her lap. “Well Naraku, was at one point in time a human. He was a bandit, that got very injured during a raid. Lady Kikyo took him in and nursed him back to health. She was in possession of a valued artifact, called the Shikon No Tama. Ever heard of it?” At the mention of the item Yoko flared to life in Kuramas head.
Yes I know of it.” Yoko spoke, his interest spiked. “Me and Korune wanted to go after it before.... before his demise.” Kuramas eyes flickered over to that bat demon and found him watching him with and amused smirk. “Yes, we know vaguely of it. What is its importance?” He asked.
“Well it is suppose to be very powerful, and when one makes a wish on it, it grants that person whatever he wishes. My friend Inuyasha here, tried to take it from Lady Kikyo, hence, their famous meeting, and slowly falling in love. When Inuyasha met her, he wanted the jewel to become full demon. When he was put to sleep, he wanted nothing more but to be human and live his life with her. When Naraku noticed this, his human body not getting any better, and not able to get to the priestess he fell for, he sold his soul to demons to gain the power to take her back. In doing so it corrupted his soul and he attempted to steal the jewel from her. He tricked her by taking on the form of Inuyasha and fatally wounding her before running off. She found her way back to the real Inuyasha and shot him with her sacred arrow, and pinned him to a tree to sleep for eternity. She was then buried with the jewel in her body so no one could come after it.”
The detectives were mildly impressed that they could all sit in the same room while their story was told. They were obviously still not passed it because they looked everywhere but each other and the other people in the room.
He continued. “That is where Kagome comes in. She was an everyday school girl, from five hundred years in the future, living on a shrine that held a well. On her 15th birthday, the jewel, lodged in the side of her body came to life, bringing the well to life with it. She was attacked by a centipede demon, from the past when she wondered into the well house looking for her lost cat. The well. It lead to the past, and the centipede, sensing the jewel in her grabbed her and pulled her through. She managed to escape and ran, right into the tree Inuyasha had been pinned too. Mysteriously... he woke up. After 50 years of a deep unshakable sleep. He opened his eyes. Thinking immediately that it was Kikyo, he freaked out on her. When he promised to help her against the centipede looking for her, she pulled the arrow out, releasing him. He killed the centipede... and then turned on her. She gained help from the village to subdue him and gained the upper hand...”
The monk told the story. And the detectives sat patiently silent, taking note of who did what in the transcending times story. But within an hour he was done, left with the death of Kagome, and the happenings that got the rest of her group killed. When he was done, the spirit group was floored. So many question. Just as their mouths opened to start asking, the door opened again. Koema, in his teenage form, was standing there. His face was unreadable as he walked in past the door way. “Come, I must relocated you all into our recently acquired place in Makai.” At once everyone was on their feet.
“Well toddler, what did the freaky queen say?” Yusuke spit out before anyone else. With an indignant huff that young ruler looked around and realized that no one was on their feet due to his orders, they were on their feet to hear what Lady Kagome had said. “Well I guess you will just have to learn some patience Yusuke and wait till I get around to telling you.” Koema said, puffing up his chest and turning up his nose. Within an instant, many threatening growls filled the room. Sango suddenly pushed past the wall of men and grabbed the toddler before anyone could stop her.
“You listen here you self serving son of a bitch this is more important to me than your life so fork up the damn information!” She yelled, shaking him rather harshly. His eyes filled with fright, and he looked around for some sort of help, but every pair of eyes in the room held that infuriating smug look that told the prince they would back her up in an instant. “W-well... Sh-e sent a messenger...” when he paused to take a breath the intimidating woman's grip tightened on his shirt, and reeled back to knock the lights out of him. “Andhesaidsheacceptedtheyarealreadyatthedesignatedmeetingspot!” The poor ruler got out as fast as he could, shrinking into himself with his eyes screwed tight, wanting to get the pain over with. When nothing happened, he opened his eyes and was promptly dropped. He straightened his shirt, and looked around. “Well now. Since your satisfied,” he said with a glare at the girl that had step back and now stood smiling at him, “we will drop you guys through a portal in Makai and Botan will show you guys to the encampment. Good luck. You will receive more orders when you are all settled.” With a small smile at his handiwork, he turned and walked out of the room, Botan filling the space in the doorway. “Alright everyone! Please step back for a moment, I want you to all go through singularly. Got that?” At the subtle nods, she made a portal, and everyone walked through. When everyone was in, Botan sighed. “I really hope this works.” She said to herself, before jumping in and sealing the portal.
