To See the Truth in Each Other

Chapter Four: Learn the Truth about Your Self First

I do not own Yu Yu Hakusho or Inuyasha

Momma led her two children back to the living room. Souta stood off to the side he might not like a lot of his sister's choices but the girl could still knock him flat. A few months back a man had made a rude comment and Kagome had knocked the perv on his ass with one punch. “Kagome, please sit me and your brother need to tell you something.”

Out side a cute little bird ruffled its feathers before going back to sleep. Look at the pretty little feathers and the “WHAT!”

“Now Kagome dear settle down. It's not good for the baby.” Kagome was on her feet pacing the floor. Kagome stopped and looked at her mother. “You are telling me that I defeated this evil yokai. Then for some unknown reason forgot every thing I had done!” Momma nodded her head. “If this is true then why are you just now telling me?”

Souta sighed before flopping down into a chair a good distance from his angry pregnant sister. “Do you want to know why we didn't tell you? When you returned the last time, we found you sitting in the bottom of the well glaring at the well's wall. After lowering the latter down, you came out blaming me and Buyo for you being stuck in the bottom of the well. You didn't know who Inuyasha was and you thought that the Shikon was just a story that Grandpa liked to tell.”

“Kagome, the well sealed its self. You can never return to the past. We decided it might be for the best that you didn't remember. The last time you were here to get supplies you just didn't seem to want to be here.” Kagome stared at her mother before slowly sinking into a chair. Momma turned to look at her eighteen year old son. “Souta don't think that I have forgotten the way you have been acting. You have five minutes start talking.”

Souta rolled his eyes before dropping his sword onto the floor. “You all think Kagome saved the world. But it wasn't her, a yokai helped move all the low levels out. The rest moved a short time later. But the lead yokai is gone now and so now more yokai are trying to come here. The old spirit detectives have quit died, or like the last, one fired. So a year and a half ago I found out my girlfriend was the newest detective.” Souta set up straight in the chair looking at Kagome head on. “So imagine my surprise that all the times she broke dates wasn't because she wanted to but because yokai were attacking. A few months back I stumbled into a portal and ended up in Makai fighting for my life. It took a week for anyone to catch me but when they did I was escorted to the big boss since I killed so many of there men.”

Souta leaned back smiling a dangerous smile. “And dear sister I learned something interesting about you. Boss man invited me to eat with him and while we ate he told me a bout the miko I reminded him of. It seems that about five hundred years ago a miko appeared and promised peace between the yokai and humans. Several tribes came to her aid to fight her enemy. The evil yokai killed several including the man that was said to be the miko's lover angering her greatly. In seconds, she slaughtered the entire enemy and over half of her allies. Mama do you know who that miko was? It is none other than our dear Kagome.”

Kagome leapt to her feet wish was a surprise given it was hard to usually stand. “How dare you! You lying little bastard.” Souta smiled at Kagome innocently. “But dear sister I haven't got to the best part yet. It seems that Inuyasha wasn't Kagome's lover but the monk she always spoke of. So tell me Kagome did Inuyasha know of your betrayal.”

Kagome's mother gasped she didn't know what was more shocking that her son seemed to be happy about causing his sister shame or that Kagome had been in love with the monk she traveled with instead of the dog eared boy that her family knew.

“It all makes since now. You all just wanted me to stay here that is why you lied to me saying my dreams were nothing but my over active imagination. And if you must know Inuyasha knew of me and Miroku he was actually the one to push us into marrying one another. Naraku had kidnapped Shippo and Sango to anger our group hoping that in our anger we would be killed.” Kagome was in her brother's face now, a look of complete rage shown through her eyes.

“It took us three weeks to find were Naraku was hiding our friends. When we walked through the gate, we saw a skeleton of a small child lying on the ground and Naraku seated on a porch with Sango kneeling at his feet. When Miroku called to her Sango didn't answer, she just set there her head bowed. Inuyasha charged Naraku hoping to get to where me and Miroku could rescue our friend and hopefully find Shippo.” Tears began to leak from Kagome's eyes as her voice became shaky. “Miroku put Sango on Kirara's back and told me to get on as well that he and Inuyasha would not be far behind. At that moment Sango died. She had been convinced we weren't coming for her so she ingested a poison that slowly shuts down your body. Knowing it would be days before she died. Sango had stolen a small dagger off of Miroku and slit her own throat. Souta do you know what it is like to feel the spray of blood on your face, you hope it is your own only to realize you have just lost a friend.”

Kagome pushed here brother knocking him over. “Do you know we never found Shippo. I was devastated not only had I lost my best friend but my son as well. Miroku was forced to put his own grief aside just to take care of me. I barely ate I wanted to die I had failed everyone. For two weeks, we stayed in a small hut near the abandoned castle so Miroku and Inuyasha could try and find Shippo. For some reason during their search, Inuyasha came up with this idea that Miroku should marry me.”

Kagome glared at her brother before sitting in his abandoned chair. “I bet you agreed before he even finished telling you.” Souta sneered; Momma didn't know what to do. Her daughter was explaining why those last few months she had been so distant but part of her said to stop this before she found out something that would ruin there family forever.

“Kagome, please calm down before you hurt the baby.” Mama said rising to her feet. “I am sorry Momma but you both need to know this. Inuyasha explained to me that me and Miroku would most likely be the only two to survive the final battle because after Naraku was killed he planed on dieing with honor. He wanted to make sure that the remains of his pack would be safe. With out Sango Inuyasha was scared that Miroku would leave the group and go back to traveling by himself. Inuyasha knew that I needed someone that wasn't going to hard on me about my mistakes so he thought that by be and Miroku marrying it would keep Miroku from giving up and me from falling apart further.”

“I told Inuyasha that I refused as did Miroku but Inuyasha would not let up he refused to take no for an answer. When I told him I did not love Miroku that way, I was told I was luckier than most girls that I actually liked the man I was to marry. Two days later I was forced to marry Miroku. Inuyasha found a traveling monk and told him that Miroku's father had made a contract with my family that the two of us were to marry.” Kagome sighed softly smiling. “You know it wasn't till just days before the final battle that I realized I loved my husband. When Naraku killed him in the final battle I lost control I destroyed almost all the Yokai with in a mile radius. I still remember Naraku's dieing laughter as I clung to Miroku begging him not to leave me by my self. I don't even remember going to the well. All I know is I woke up in the bottom of the well thinking I had just woken from a strange dream. And the worst part is I still dream of my time in the past but Sango is hardly ever there and instead of seeing Miroku I see Shuichi ” Mama wrapped her arms around her daughter realizing that her daughter was very strong and that by telling her daughter that Kagome's time in the past was nothing but a dream they had been hurting her.

Souta stood glaring at the pair. “You always forgive her even when she doesn't deserve it.” Momma didn't realize that by comforting her hurt child that her younger child who had also been hurting would take it as a betrayal. “I hope you are all happy.” Souta picked his sword up turned and left the house not once looking back.

In a weathered tower, a woman set on a throne watching as Urameshi and two of his friends stood shoulder to shoulder waiting for an attack from the advancing army of yokai. At her feet set a red haired yokai that watched the advance with a smirk. “My dear general who do you think shall win my army or the three humans.” The male continued to watch the screen as the three moved a way from one another so that they could defend them selves easier. “Your army will once again suffer a humiliating defeat.”

“Yes, I imagine they will but you forget soon you will be out there fighting for me. I know how much you will enjoy killing the ex-detective.” The male's smirk changed to a smile as he stood to leave the room. “Are you sure that I will not turn on you.” The woman smiled flashing her fangs at him. “I'm sure of it because you wouldn't want anything to happen to that little human you love so much now would you?” The woman didn't even blink when a small blade imbedded in the throne not an inch from her face. “Temper, temper watch it or I might be forced to do something you wouldn't like.”
