InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ 'life' and 'death' ❯ Chapter Five ( Chapter 5 )
Disclaimer: I do not own anything regarding Inuyasha.
Previously:
As soon as the first shot was done, and slammed down onto the counter, Inuyasha stood behind Kagome and Sango. No one realized this except for Tai who was glaring back and the already glaring Inuyasha.
"I don't know what that was, but DAMN!" Exclaimed Sango
"Yea, kinda minty, wouldn't you say?" Kagome replied back to her friend Sango.
They both turned to look at Tai who was looking off somewhere else. They followed his glare to an obviously pissed off Inuyasha.

Chapter Five:
The tension between Inuyasha and Tai was so thick, if someone attempted to swim though, they would die due to the deadly under-tow. Tai was grinding his teeth while Inuyasha narrowed his eyes at Tai. No one spoke for what seemed to be hours.
"Inuyasha?" Kagome asked, trying to see what was wrong with him.
Tai raised his eye bow questioningly at Kagome. "And just exactly how and why do you know him?" All of the sweetness and tenderness of the man that she had meet tonight had suddenly left him and replaced it with a harsh, cold, distant man.
Kagome couldn't believe what she was hearing. She was about to snap when Sango grabbed her arm in order to calm Kagome down; it was not a good thing when she got pissed off.
Kagome took a deep breath before speaking. "Tai, I do not believe that I owe you any explanation as to why or how I know Inuyasha." Her eyes narrowed at him and he almost gulped from the angry look that was radiating off of Kagome.
"What the fuck are you doing here Tai?" "Or better yet, did you bring my brother with, because I know was well as you do that you two pretty much seem inseparable from each other and I know how hard it is for you to leave your beloved Fluffy behind."
"Oh seriously Inuyasha, is that all you can ever think of to say? Why don't you come up with something just a little bit more creative you unoriginal bastard?"
"Unlike you Tai, I'm not all talk; why don't we finish what we started last week," he spat out at Tai, and then added "you fucking idiot," for lack of a better word.
Before Inuyasha, Sango, or Kagome knew it, Tai was up and off of his bar stool standing chest to chest with Inuyasha. Sango and Kagome still didn't know what to make of things. By this time fellow bar dwellers had caught on to the events transpiring before their very eyes and had started to encircle the now standing Tai and Inuyasha. Someone needed to step up, and soon before things turned ugly and got even more out of control than they already were. Sango looked at Kagome and she nodded her head in agreement with Sango. Sango stood up and pulled on Inuyasha's arm while Kagome stepped in front of Tai and pulled him to the side.
"Come on, don't ruin this good night; you boys really need to cut this shit out," Sango told Inuyasha, while at the same letting her remarks be heard by Tai.
Neither of the guys was responding, their death glares remained locked on each other.
"Tai, why don't we step outside for a second and cool down a bit." Kagome took Tai's arm; she didn't wait for a response, she just grabbed him, pulled, and he followed without complaint.
************
"Inuyasha, do you mind telling me what the hell is going on here, and why the hell you are acting like this?"
"Maybe because he's a stupid fucking bastard who should mind his own fucking business and stay the fuck out of what ever city I'm in. Sango, you've known me for how long? You know that I don't like talking about my family, I never have, and never will." What that he took a seat on the bar stool and stubbornly crossed his arms across his chest.
"So what you're trying to say is that he's family?" Sango smirked, she knew that Inuyasha had not meant to tell her that Tai was related to him; the boy said a lot of things without even thinking them through first.
"Feh."
"Oh come on, you don't have anything else to say except that?" "By the way, what exactly does "feh," "keh," and "heh" mean anyway?" "You know you use that as a response way more often than you should."
"Keh." "What is it with her anyways, what the hell does she see in Tai," he emphasized.
Sango rolled her eyes. "Is this what that was about? Are you jealous Inuyasha? Are you upset that for once someone other than your self got the girl?"
"You don't even know him Sango! How do you know that he's any bit better than me? Fuck, for all you know he could be some deranged mercenary killer, or maybe an assassin, or maybe he's a stalker, or probably a hit man for the mob!"
"Yash, for fucks sake… grow up a little you insufferable boy. Put your petty differences away and take a look at the world around you…" Sango was very upset by that last remark. He didn't even know that he had slightly insulted Kagome. Sure, with wasn't a life that she had chosen willingly, but it was the life that she embraced as it was the only life that she knew of. He really had no idea of who she was. But when he looked at he saw perfection. He didn't want someone to take that away from him too like everything else in his life had been.
************
"So do you mind telling me exactly what that was about?" Kagome asked as they stepped out the back door and looked for someplace where they could possibly sit. The night consumed the sky, and the city lights drowned out the stars.
"Oh just some family rivalry."
They continued walking, hand in hand until they reached some wooden crates which sat in the alley behind Club Elite. The moon was full, and was shining down in between the cracks between the many buildings which lined the night sky. If it wasn't for the moon, the alley would have been completely pitch black. Kagome dusted off a crate, and took a seat on one, while Tai did the same and sat down right next to her.
"So you guys are related? And who is Fluffy?"
"Yea, I guess you could say that…we're cousins actually, half cousins, step cousins? I'm really not sure… It really doesn't matter I guess? Oh and Fluffy is Inuyasha's older brother." He laughed to him self for a second while Kagome looked at him slightly confused. "Fluffy's not his real name, it's just something that Inuyasha called him because he couldn't pronounce his real name when he was little.. No one's really sure where he came up with the name `Fluffy,' but it stuck." His face turned a little bit more serious. "Look Kagome, I'm sorry about how I acted in there, I didn't mean to talk to you like that, and you have to believe me." With that said he grabbed one of her hands and put both of his around it.
"Its okay, I'll forgive you." Kagome was very curious to learn more about Tai, Inuyasha, and "Fluffy;" there were so many questions left unanswered in her mind. She didn't really want to start talking about family as it would inevitably lead to a discussion about her family.
"So what was all that about finishing what you started last week?" She asked curiously.
"Hah… well we had an unfortunate run in last Friday, one of the many that seems to happen frequently, it was at this new club that just opened in London. I was waiting for a guy at the bar and I bought a girl a drink; you know that super model, Angelina Gashni, I think that was her name." Kagome nodded her head. "It was just a friendly gesture but apparently she was Inuyasha's flavor of the week, and he thought I was trying to pick up on his girl… one thing led to another, and before I knew it we were on the floor throwing punches and wrestling around on the ground; he throws a mean sucker punch but I can hold my own." "Needless to say, we both got kicked out." He smirked with that sexy grin that Kagome had seen several times throughout the course of the evening and ran his fingers through his spiky black hair. "Any more questions my dear?"
Kagome replied with a soft "yes." "So what's your type, in guys I mean," she asked with a grin.
"What are you talking about, girl?"
"You said you were waiting for a guy at the bar, Tai."
"Well, he has to be pretty, have beautiful brown eyes, soft skin, dark long hair, look great in a dress, and be one hell of a dancer. Most importantly, his name has to be Kagome," he teasingly said back to her.
She playfully hit his arm and they sat in silence for a minute until Kagome decided to speak "And Tai, about Inuyasha, he's just my neighbor; I just meet him a few days ago actually." "Sango told him to stay away from me so I guess that it's kind of my fault he was here tonight because I stubbornly secretly invited him just to spite her." She giggled softly.
"Well I guess that kind of explains it, he doesn't like it when I go after his girls." Tai reached into his back pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. "Do you mind?" He asked her while pulled out a single smoke and the lighter that was also in his back pocket.
"Well that's just too bad I'm not his girl then, huh? And not at all, as long as you share," Kagome replied.
He offered her the pack and she took a cigarette out and placed it on her lip, waiting for him to light it. With a flick of Tai's thumb, the flame appeared and he leaned over, cuffing the lighter with his other hand to protect the flame from the wind. She inhaled deeply and exhaled a cloud of smoke as Tai lit his own.
"You know, smoking's not good for you, you probably shouldn't be doing it," he jokingly stated to her.
"Well maybe I do a lot of things I really shouldn't do." Kagome grinned suggestively back at Tai.

"Excuse me Yash, I have to use the ladies room." Sango excused her self.
As soon as she was gone, a woman who had been eyeing the situation across the room for the past thirty minutes made her way towards an unsuspecting Inuyasha. She had long blonde hair, and was wearing and extremely short, light pink, A-line cut dress. The halter top cut was lined with sparkly rhinestones which also trailed down the dress. Her silk stockings could be seen completely and stopped mid thigh that were being held in place by a garter. Her tall sparkly shoes clicked against the hard club floor.
The woman placed her arms around Inuyasha's neck and placed little kisses along his neck line. He had no idea who was kissing his neck, but it wasn't new. He turned around to see just exactly who this little wench was.
"Surprised to see my Inu baby?" She asked.
"Ummm.." Was all he could really muster up to say. "Trishelle, right?"
She crossed her arms and gave him a pouty look. "I know that you are just kidding baby, its Asami, I know you couldn't forget your number one girl."
He inwardly cringed. Usually he would take advantage of the situation: take her home, fuck her senseless, and then kick her out once he woke up. But tonight he felt kind of different. `What the hell is wrong with me?' `Perhaps you've grown a conscience.' `Where the hell was Kagome and what were her and Tai doing that was taking them so damn long to get back in here?'
***************
Kagome took her last drag off of the cigarette and threw it onto the black pavement before putting it out with the bottom of her shoe. She blew the smoke out of her mouth with her eyes closed as if she was deep in thought about something important.
Tai had already finished his smoke so he looked at her questioningly. "Something on your mind?"
She snapped out of her trance like state. "Do you actually work here, because for like the past two hours you've been doing nothing but hanging around Sango and me; so why did you escort me in to the club?" It wasn't really what she had been thinking about, but she didn't want to tell him just exactly was on her mind.
"Such a smart girl, haha. No, I don't really work here, a buddy of mine owns this place, and so I offered to help him out for a minute or two." Once again they were both grinning at each other.
Tai looked down at his watch. "How about one more dance, it's almost time for this place to close up?"
"As long as you promise not to fight with Inuyasha."
"Okay, it's a deal." He sealed his deal with a kiss to Kagome's cheek that made her blush. She couldn't even remember the last time that a guy, besides her uncles of course, had kissed her cheek. He grabbed her hand as they made their way back down further into the alley to enter through the club's back door.
***************
Sango tried to compose her self as she stepped out of the bathroom stall. She had just gotten sick about three times; perhaps it was all the drinking? `What else would it be dumb ass,' she thought to her self. She walked over to the dark blue sinks. She turned on the water and washed her hands while a bathroom attendant handed her a towel which she used to dry them off. Sango tipped the attendant and took a step towards the door feeling a little dizzy.
She stepped out of the bathrooms and noticed that the crowd had died down considerably. She looked around to see if Inuyasha had moved, and she thought that she could still see his figure sitting up at the bar. As she made her way through the tables, people, and spilled drinks, her cell phone started to ring. She unzipped her purse and fumbled around for it. Before she knew it she ran into something hard: a man's chest to be exact. She said sorry as did he. What she didn't notice was a table of four men who had been watching and keeping a close on them the entire evening, was now down to one man who had just set his phone down on the table.
***************
Inuyasha looked at Sango with pleading eyes. The floozy was still draped all over his body.
"Honey, who is this girl and what are you doing with my husband?"
"She's no one, love." He replied back to her, thankful that she was going to help him out of this situation.
"Our son just called, he misses his mommy and daddy."
"Well then I guess we better be getting home, darling." With that Inuyasha grabbed Sango's arm and started to lead her to across the club to anther bar, leaving a completely clueless girl behind. If she had half a brain cell she would have realized that neither Inuyasha nor Sango was wearing a wedding ring, it takes 9 months to make a baby, a year or so for that child to talk, and most importantly, she would have realized that she had dated him for a week or so about 2 months ago…
They took a seat in a small booth up against the corner and both nearly died laughing. The music was still blaring, and the strobe and laser lights still filled the building. As she leaned back against the plush white velvet back rest, Sango realized something: Inuyasha had changed…'okay so maybe it's only been these past few minutes or something-but that counts, right?' She said to herself.
**************
Tai and Kagome made stepped up the cement staircase and he opened the door for her. They were in the room where the club received their shipments. Boxes were scattered every where most likely due to the hustle of opening night. Tai was looking for a light switch when they heard a voice from the darkness that surrounded them. "It's her, boss."
