Chapter Five: I Love You, Only You…
Kagome lay in her bed crying softly. It had been four days, and still no sign of Inuyasha. She actually was starting to lose faith that they would ever come back to get her. She still could remember what happened very clearly, Inuyasha had chosen Kikyo over her, even though he said he loved her. Kagome slowly sat up, and looked out her window towards the well house, hoping that she would see him, but like every other time she had looked, he was not there.
Kagome walked downstairs to her family that had already started eating breakfast. She sat down with out saying anything and started to eat a piece of toast. Her mother looked at her with a sad look, yet she was happy that she at least was eating again. She remembered that ever since Kagome came crying out of the well and hugged her saying that she could never go back she had not eaten much.
Kagome stayed in her room for the first two days straight; never leaving, never eating, never talking, and crying her self to sleep every night. On the third day, after much pestering from her mom, she would come out to eat, which she still did very little of, and to do other necessities. Yet today she actually came down and started eating with her family instead of bringing it to her room. Kagome had taken another bite of her toast when she put it down and walked out of the room. Her grandfather tried to talk to her but her mother stopped him and shook her head. She had not talked since she had locked herself in her room, but they could all hear her crying at night and sometimes during the day. Her mark had started to sting from lack of being with her mate and every time she thought of him it just stung more.
She walked out of the house and to the well, she had to go back soon, just to collect her things and say goodbye one last time. But she couldn't, she was afraid of what she may find, `Kami I am so tired of being here, every time we fought I ended up here, having a childish fear that questions whether I should go back or not, and I always have, but now… now it is different.' Kagome sat in front of the well, `He was always there for me, when ever I cried, he would comfort me and wipe away all my tears, when ever I screamed he was there to protect me, and he always let me hold his hand even though he though it would make him seem weak. But…but he loves her, and not me.'
After finally gaining some courage, she climbed over the ledge of the well, and slowly dropped herself down but instead of the normal blue light and the weightless feeling that happened when she traveled through the well; she felt herself hit the ground hard. She gasped and looked up just to see that she was still in the well house in her time. Kagome started clawing at the ground, trying to break through when she remembered that she not only left her bag there, but her jewel shards as well. Without them she could never go back unless Inuyasha came for her, which she knew would never happen. All she could do was sit in the corner of the well and cry, knowing that she could never see her friends again, she could never visit the feudal era again, and she could not see the one man she loved anymore, `He is gone forever, I can't go to him and he would never come and get me. Why did it have to be like this?'
Unknowing to her, Inuyasha was doing the same thing she was, sitting near the destroyed well. He too hardly moved for the four days, even when Miroku said that there was a rumor of a jewel shard very close by he did not budge. He had only got up when a demon tried to attack the village but then quickly returned to the well. Miroku and Sango could hardly stand to see him like this, and even Shippo tried to cheer him up but had no success. Inuyasha just sat in front of the well thinking to himself, `Feh, I've been here a while, am I just going to sit here forever? Or is there something I can do? Kami, why did I have to go and fuck things up…I always fuck things up, I should just forget everything and move on. But…I could never forget. I just wish that I had a chance to see her again, even for a moment, just to say that I am sorry.'
The sun had just rose on the fifth day and Miroku walked to the well to see Inuyasha in the same place that he was before. He slowly approached and sat near him, "Are you going to sit here for the rest of your life?"
Inuyasha said nothing and Miroku shook his head, "We all miss Kagome, but we must continue our quest for the jewel."
"Look for them without me." Inuyasha said quietly.
"You know we can't do that, we need your help."
Inuyasha said nothing again and Miroku sat there for a while until getting up, "You know you could at least do something." He said walking away.
"Like what?" Inuyasha yelled at him.
"I don't know, why don't you um…" he looked around and saw the broken well and realized something that he wished he had realized the day the well was destroyed, "wait, rebuild the well."
Inuyasha looked up, "What?"
Miroku ran back to him, "Inuyasha, why don't you rebuild the well, it may restore the gate to Kagome's time."
Inuyasha's got up and looked at the well, "Oh my Kami, why didn't I think of that sooner? Yet, would it work?"
"It may…"
Inuyasha smiled now having some hope within him, "Okay, get some people down here to help rebuild it."
Miroku ran back to the village as Inuyasha started to dig with his claws. He kept digging downward, pushing all of the dirt up and out of the hole. `Please work, I need to see Kagome.'
After a while Miroku came back with some villagers and was quite surprised to see that the well was almost completely re-dug by Inuyasha alone. Miroku looked down the hole, "Hey Inuyas-." He was stopped because of a clump of dirt hit him in the face. He backed away and wiped the dirt off of his face and carefully looked down again; ready to dodge any dirt that was thrown up. "Hey Inuyasha would you like a…" he stopped when he saw a light coming out of the well.
Inuyasha stopped digging when he saw the familiar blue light. "It worked!" he yelled as he felt the feeling of the ground disappearing and being lifted into Kagome's time.
"Inuyasha wait!" Miroku said down the well as Inuyasha disappeared; `He's gone to her time' He turned to the villagers behind him, "Come on let's finish the well." They all nodded and started to work.

Kagome sighed as she climbed out of the well and walked back to her house, but stopped short when she saw her mom standing there holding her school bag, "Kagome, I was wondering if you would like to go to school today if you are up to it."
`I should go to school; he's not going to come here.' Kagome nodded and grabbed her bag, "Yes, I will."
Mrs. Higurashi sighed as she watched her daughter walk off to school, "Why did this happen, I thought they loved each other." She started to walk back to the house when she noticed a light coming from the well, "It can't be…" She ran up to the well just as a certain hanyou jumped out, "Inuyasha?"
Inuyasha sniffed the air, `Damnit she isn't here' "Where is Kagome?"
"At school."
"Then that's where I'm going." Inuyasha said as he tried to run out of the well house but was blocked by Kagome's mother, "Let me go I have to see her."
"Not until you tell to me what happened."
Inuyasha sighed and explained to her what happened.
----------------------------------------------------
On the way to her school Kagome kept looking down, `I wonder how my friends are doing.'
Then if by magic Ayumi appeared by her and called to her, "Hey Kagome!"
"Oh, hi."
Ayumi noticed her friend's sadness, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Come on, something is bothering you."
"It's nothing, okay."
"Is it that boyfriend of yours?" As soon as she said that Kagome broke into tears, "Oh it is what happened?"
"I don't want to talk about it." she cried as she ran off to her school.
"Kagome?!"
She ignored her friend's plea and continued to run, `No matter what I do, I can't stop thinking about him.' Kagome ran into her school and stopped at the stairs, `Even though he is gone, it seems like he is always here with me, I can almost sense his aura. Am I going to be like this for the rest of my life, mourning and never moving on?' Kagome let the tears fall freely as she slowly walked up the stairs, `I can't, I can't forget him; no matter how hard I try, I wonder if he will forget me.'
-----------------------------------------------------
Inuyasha sprinted out of Kagome's house and followed her scent, `If her mother can understand then Kagome will let me explain.' He continued to follow Kagome's scent until he reached a large building, "This must be her school." He continued to look around ignoring the looks people were giving him and the comments about his ears, `Damn there are too many scents I can't smell Kagome.' He was about to enter the school when he saw a figure on the ledge of the building that looked oddly familiar. He quickly jumped up to her and yelled her name "Kagome!"
She didn't turn but just continued to stand on the ledge, `Funny, I can almost here is voice.'
"Kagome!" Inuyasha yelled a second time slowly approaching her from behind.
Kagome turned around and couldn't believe her eyes when she saw Inuyasha standing behind her, "Inuyasha…you came?"
"Yes I did." He said while slowly approaching her.
"H…how, the well is broke"
"I fixed it, I needed to see you and say that I am sorry."
"Sorry? You think you can just say sorry and that it will all be all right? I saw what you did with Kikyou!"
"I wasn't my fault, she ha-."
"Shut up! I am sick of this, every time Kikyou appears you go to her like a dog to his mistress and act like I don't exist!"
"That's not true! I don't love her."
"Don't lie to me I know you love her. I heard what you said to her, and what you did after."
"Please listen to me, let me explain…"
"No. I loved you, and you threw me away for a dead clay bitch! I hope you will be happy with her when she drags you down to hell!" Kagome knew Inuyasha was about to respond but ignored him and took one step back. Suddenly her body began to fall, Kagome heard Inuyasha scream and before she fell even a few feet a hand grabbed her. She looked up to see Inuyasha hanging over the ledge, gripping tightly to her hand, "What are you doing?"
"Saving you."
"Why, you don't care about me!"
"Yes I do!"
Tears began to fall down Kagome's face, "Please, just let me die."
"I will never let you die!"
Kagome couldn't respond because at that time Inuyasha slipped off of the edge and fell off of the building as well. Inuyasha quickly grabbed Kagome and held tightly on to her then quietly whispered into her ear as they plummeted towards the ground, "I will never let you go."
Then there was a large thud as they both hit the ground.
----------------------------------------------------
Miroku walked back to the village covered in dirt. Sango walked out of Kaede's hut and noticed Miroku approaching her, "What happened? Did you get in a fight with a mole?"
Miroku just walked up to her and started to wipe the dirt off of him, "No, me and some of the villagers just finished rebuilding the well."
"You rebuilt the well?"
Miroku nodded as they both entered the hut and said good morning to Shippo, "How did you with Inuyasha sitting there?"
"Oh he was the one who dug the hole." He replied as he started to eat the stew that Sango was cooking.
"Was he hoping that he would be able to go to Kagome's time?" She asked helping herself to some of the food.
"He did go to her time."
Sango nearly chocked on her food, "You mean the well is working again?"
"Apparently."
"Wow," Sango took a few sips of the stew, "But Kikyo said that Kagome saw Inuyasha with her."
"I know, but knowing Kagome she'll probably give Inuyasha a chance to explain."
Shippo jumped up, "Does this mean Kagome will come back?"
Sango smiled, "Most likely."
Shippo started to jump up and down happily and left the hut leaving Sango and Miroku alone. As soon as they were sure that Shippo was gone they moved next to each other and started to kiss. They leaned back so Sango was lying on top of Miroku as he slowly started to take her robe off. She noticed this and stopped him, "We can't do that know."
Miroku looked disappointed, "Why not?"
"Because it's broad daylight outside and anyone could walk in at any time."
"So?"
Sango playfully hit him, "Hentai"
He smiled, "Only for you from now on."
"Good." She whispered as she pressed him back down and started to kiss him again.
They lay there kissing for a few moments until they heard someone cough. They both shot away from each other and sat looking very red. Miroku looked at the person who ruined there fun, "Good morning Kaede."
She looked at both of them, "Sorry, am I interrupting?"
They both shook their head's and said "No" in unison.
"Oh alright." She said as she sat near the center of the hut.
"I'll be leaving." Miroku said after a while as he stood up and left the hut.
"Miroku! Wait for me!" Sango yelled as she quickly stood up and left the hut also.
Sango ran up to Miroku as he was exiting the village, "Miroku wait up."
"What is it Sango?" he asked turning towards her.
She smiled and grabbed his arm, "What, can't I walk with you."
He turned back to the path, "Okay, but can we do a little more then walking?" he asked slowly rubbing her butt.
She pinched his hand, "Only if you are a good monk."
They both smiled and walked down the path.

Mrs. Higurashi sighed for what seemed the millionth time that day as she walked down the stairs into the living room. In one day she had seen her daughter try to forget the one man she loved, to him coming back and saying that he still loved her, and then Inuyasha coming home with Kagome unconscious in his arms saying that she attempted suicide; now he was in Kagome's room with her waiting for her to awake. She shook her head and walked into the kitchen, "I think I need some sake."
