InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ A Cold Heart For a Dead Soul ❯ He Wants It.... But Can't Have It ( Chapter 5 )
Chap.5
The room exploded with light, I covered my eyes. The boy screamed sitting straight up. Her body was sprawled across the floor, her eyes were closed still and she looked as if she was dead until I saw the slight movement behind her eyes. "Souta are you okay?"
"Kagome, Kagome… Kagome…." He started to rock back and forth staring at her. What had she done? The cross on his forehead was gone, and he seemed okay.
"It does gonna be alright Souta. She is going to be alright."
"She's got to get out of here. They can't do tests on her, she's different than me. She'll be confined, they'll kill her."
The doctors rushed in then. "What happened?"
"She fainted she'll be fine, just needs some rest." I picked her up gingerly. Souta got up and followed me slowly, never letting go of the back of my shirt.
"Why is he out of bed? Who took out the IV?"
"She did, he didn't need them." I replied flatly heading towards my car. The boy followed and slipped into the front seat with me after I put Kagome in the back.
He looked straight ahead, not speaking until he had thought his words over.
"She's different. I figured it out eventually. I am young but I know what she is. Kagome… she's like a sister to me, always there when I need her. I know I will not live as long as she does, but she seems not to notice, to just look past the human flesh and see my soul. I want to live forever with her. I want to be one of her people. I want to know what it's like to be her. In that room back there, I got a piece of her. And now I know why she won't change me. She is afraid, afraid she will loose me." He stopped then when he heard her stir in the backseat.
I looked in the rearview mirror and he turned to see her. I saw the tear go down her cheek but it was immediately pushed away by her arm. She still had not woken. I returned my eyes to the road. "Souta I know what she is and she is not afraid. If she were…"
"She is, I am like her brother. She told me once that I looked like him when he was my age. How do you respond to that? I just sat there smiling when she told me what she was. I was the first to know and swore never to tell. She became closer and I'm afraid she is too close now. That if me or grandfather dies she will be lost in the dark." He paused again.
I looked at him briefly before stopping the car on the side of the road. Kagome didn't stir at all.
"Souta, she is too strong to go into the dark and not come out. Far too strong." I started the car again.
"Don't talk about me like you know me because you don't." Kagome spoke with out opening her eyes. I looked into the rear view mirror, and she opened her eyes to meet mine.
"But it's the truth."
She closed her eyes again. Nothing else was spoken. I pulled up to the house and had to wake her. She was beautiful, but was that because I knew the danger that lurked behind those perfect lips, or was it because I was starting to feel something for her? She woke with a start and led Souta into the shrine and then appeared again.
"Don't look at me like that." She said so softly. I was trying not to notice everything about her. Her voice, her walk, the way she looked at me with eyes of brown, but I noticed something else too. That her eyes showed that she had a cold heart, they were fearless, hard, and almost dangerous to look at and yet I couldn't look away.
"You want to come in or do you insist on leaning on that damn car all day?" she smirked opening her door. I shook my head but still followed her.
"Would you like something to drink?" she threw her coat down onto the couch.
"No, but I'm starving."
"Yeah me to-" she stopped looking at me for my reaction.
I just smiled. "But the question is how hungry are you?"
~*~*~*~
He moved towards me, and it was hard to move away.
"No, you are an evil little saint. Are you stupid? I'll hurt you. Get away." I moved around the couch as he chased me. Then I ran upstairs, Inu-Yasha still following.
I ran into my room, but before I could shut the door he was there. He grabbed my wrists and forced them behind me. My breathing had quickened but his was even, too even to be someone who was attacking someone else. I looked to his golden eyes for answers. Instead of seeing anger I saw something I had only seen for Kouga.
I stopped fighting and he let go. "That's more like it. Now let me do something, I've thought about it and now I want it."
"Go ahead." I said evenly. He held my face, slowly tilting it. Our lips met briefly before he moved away. I wanted more, and I made him know it. My hand wrapped around his neck sending blazing trails where my nails scraped his skin. I pulled him onto me as I laid on my bed. He was hard, and I felt everything he did, even barely brushing my hair from my face.
"Why do you have to be like him?" I asked as I unbuttoned his shirt.
"Like who?"
"Nobody… you just remind me of someone that's all." I lied, he more than reminded me of Kouga. He had Kouga's same secret on his shoulder as well. Although the secret of Kouga's was that he was youkai not hanyou.
He had stood moving away. His eyes held a misunderstanding. "What do you mean?"
"He was like you, a youkai…"
"You've been with my kind before? Who?" he had aggravation in his voice.
"Kouga… he was a great friend to me, more than a friend."
"Kouga? You've met Kouga? Where is he? I want to pummel him."
"You knew him?" I stood facing away to the window.
"Yes, he was my partner, four years. Then he disappeared." He said with the aggravation gone.
"So you were the man he talked about? I'm not your type then."
"What do you mean?"
"He told me you like prostitutes, he liked you though. I don't understand you people, you find someone who's like you and you attach yourself like Velcro. I can't attach myself." I turned back to him and pushed him against the door, my fangs showing. "Because people die."
I let him go and opened the window. I put my foot on the window sill and pushed off with my arms, dropping out of the window and forcing myself to turn into my hawk form. I looked back and saw from my hawk eyes that he wondered where I had gone. I just couldn't stay there with him any longer. My blood lust had almost made me bite him. I couldn't risk that, not again. It would cause him pain, too much pain, and I didn't want to take away his golden eyes. The eyes that would stay with me forever. I think it's time to visit Kagura.
I caught a wind and let it carry me south, away from my home, away from my life and to friends. The scene below me changed rapidly and the air around me warmed. I felt auras of my kind as I flew over them, then I landed when I found the one I wanted. The house was large for one person, but I instantly realized she was running a haven. I shook my head. "Always like Kagura."
I opened the door, and entered a great hall. A young Nighter who looked up at me and his eyes grew. "Yes madam what can we do for you?"
"Where is Kagura? Tell her she has a visitor."
An: howdy… me again, yeah boring me… okay so you know what I want, and if you don't give it to me I'll cry… Reviews… *runs away from angry people*
