Chapter 4: Sesshoumaru's HALF-brother

 

 

 

 

 

 

The next day, Sesshoumaru was up before Kagome. He stared out of the bed room window, thinking about his new life, and the nasty smelling Naraku.

 

Kagome got up an hour after him “Good morning….name?” she asked. “You just call me slave milady.”

 

“No, I'm not going to call you slave, what is your name?” she protested and Sesshoumaru had to reply. “Sesshoumaru” he answered. Kagome sat on her futon, wide eyed. “You are Lord Sesshoumaru?!” she asked amazed. “I was” was all Sesshoumaru could say. Then it was silence. Kagome stared at Sesshoumaru more. “They got you” she whispered sadly then walked to her wardrobe. Sesshoumaru watched her pick out a purple kimono, and then he escorted her to the baths.

 

Once there, Sesshoumaru waited outside of the baths. A young woman walked up to him; She had almost black hair that she wore in a pony tail, and she was wearing a pink and green kimono.

 

“Hello, who are you?” She asked kindly. “Sesshoumaru” was all he said and looked straight. “Are you a slave?!” She asked. Sesshoumaru nodded. “For who?!” she asked curiously. “She's in there” Sesshoumaru answered and pointed to the door. The woman nodded and marched into the baths.

Kagome was just finishing when her best friend came in. “Kagome, is that your slave?!” she asked madly. Kagome put on her kimono and nodded sadly. “Yes, Naraku gave him to me…”

 

“Why don't you free him?! Don't you hate it when youkai are enslaved?!” The woman asked. “Of course I do, but…Naraku would find out and I just know something bad would happen…” Kagome whispered as if she thought someone could hear. “I don't know what to do Sango…”

 

The woman, Sango hugged her friend. “Well, just don't be too harsh on the youkai…and be polite, there for, you wouldn't really be ordering him to do something.” she said softly. Kagome nodded. “But it's weird…did he tell you his name?” Kagome asked. “Yeah, what about it?” Sango replied. “Sango, you're the palace librarian, don't you read the scrolls and books? He is Lord Sesshoumaru! They got him; a scroll said that they had been tracking him down for about a year… the poor guy. I read a book just two days ago about how he was the ruler of the western lands…” Kagome answered. “Wow, that is very unfortunate, and he had to go through training of being a slave…god, I feel so sorry for him” Sango said then she and Kagome left the baths.

 

Sesshoumaru stood up when Kagome and Sango came out. “Uh, we are going to the library, you can come along.” Kagome said. “As you wish, milady” He answered and followed them.

 

The library was huge with many different types of books and scrolls. Sesshoumaru couldn't help but be amazed.

 

Sango went over to a desk and looked through a very thick book. “Hmmm, what was the book called, Kagome?” she asked Kagome. “Uh…I think it was…Taiyoukai of the West.” She answered and stood next to Sango. Sesshoumaru perked up. `Why would they want that book?' he thought. Then he was called “Uh, Sesshoumaru, would you please help us look for this book?” Kagome asked. Sesshoumaru nodded. “As you wish” he answered and started looking around.

 

Somehow, he found the book quickly. It was leather bound with a gold colored title. Sesshoumaru handed it to Kagome who thanked him. Then she and Sango started reading it.

 

“Sesshoumaru, are all these things true in this book? You have a hanyou brother?” Kagome asked. Sesshoumaru was angry, he couldn't believe they actually wrote about Inuyasha in the book, but calmly, he nodded and said. “Yes, Inuyasha is my half-brother”

 

“INUYASHA!!” The two girls yelled, hurting Sesshoumaru's ears. “Oh, sorry” Kagome apologized when she realized how loud they were. “But, Inuyasha can't really be your brother can he?” Kagome asked. Sesshoumaru nodded. Kagome and Sango exchanged glances then stared at Sesshoumaru in awe. “They do look a lot alike” Kagome whispered.

 

“Are you in for a surprise tonight, Sesshoumaru” Sango said and went back to her desk. Sesshoumaru said nothing. Kagome looked at him peculiarly. “You know, you can talk, I don't mind” Kagome said. “Alright” he said. For the rest of the day, Kagome and Sango asked questions about Sesshoumaru and read books on youkai and slaves.

 

The man that helped Sesshoumaru with clothes came into the Library that night. “What is it Miroku?” Sango asked, putting a book down. “Naraku has ordered me to inform Kagome that dinner is served.” Kagome rolled her eyes. “God, this aught to be fun…” she said sarcastically, and then motioned Sesshoumaru to follow. Sesshoumaru did so.

 

The Dinning room was big and beautiful. There was a long table that could seat one-hundred people, just about.

 

As Kagome and Sesshoumaru walked in, Naraku walked up to Kagome and kissed her forehead. Sesshoumaru could see Kagome grimace as he did. Then, Sesshoumaru saw him; He knew just from the white ears and yellow eyes that this was him; that this was Inuyasha. Hatred spread threw out Sesshoumaru as he glared at his half-brother. Inuyasha was the guest to the emperor Naraku.

 

Sesshoumaru started growling without even knowing it. Naraku knew though, he smiled evilly. “Kagome dear, silence that slave with the subdue spell.” Naraku said. Kagome looked at Sesshoumaru who still was growling. “Sorry” She whispered then yelled “Down boy!”

Sesshoumaru was sprawled on the floor subdued. Kagome winced. Naraku laughed. Inuyasha just stood there, surprised. When the spell wore of Sesshoumaru got up. “Wait a sec, slave. Aren't you supposed to ask for forgiveness?” Naraku asked and laughed again. Sesshoumaru resisted growling and kneeled on the ground in front of Kagome.

 

Kagome knew what was happening; she had read it in the library. `Poor Sesshoumaru' she thought as Sesshoumaru hesitantly grabbed Kagome's waist and rubbed his face against her abdomen. He felt like a dog, rubbing against an owner's leg. Then he got her scent: Cherrie blossoms and water falls. To Sesshoumaru, that was the best scent he smelt for a long time.

 

Kagome stroked Sesshoumaru beautiful silver hair three times. After the third Sesshoumaru let go of her and bowed. “I am sorry, milady” he said and stood. Kagome stared at him a few moments longer then looked at her hands. `His hair is so soft,' she thought `just like the fur of a puppy…' Her thoughts were then interrupted when a cold hand was placed on her shoulder. Kagome shuddered.

 

“Come sit Kagome darling” Naraku said as he kept his hand on her shoulder and led her to a seat next to him. Sesshoumaru followed and sat on the floor beside Kagome.

 

Inuyasha was observing everything that happened. He sat in his seat and stared at his brother. `They got him…' he thought. He couldn't help feeling a little sad for his half-brother, even if they did hate each other. After all, Inuyasha was now somewhat royal, and Sesshoumaru…a slave.

 

When the food was served, Kagome gave her bowl to Sesshoumaru. He tested it and nodded. Then she gave him his own bowl of rice. “Kagome, how was your birthday yesterday, Naraku was just telling me you turned.” Inuyasha asked, still staring at his older half-brother. “It was,” `horrible' Kagome thought. “Good.” She replied and looked at Sesshoumaru. He wasn't eating. “That was when I got, Sesshoumaru.” She said and turned back to Inuyasha. “I see…” Inuyasha said. Naraku winced when Kagome said Sesshoumaru's name, he wondered why she didn't call him slave.

 

After dinner, Kagome said goodbye to Inuyasha went quickly back to her room, Sesshoumaru following behind. “I hate Naraku!” she yelled once there. “Are you okay Sesshoumaru?” she asked. “Yes” he replied and sat down. “That's good, I would really hate it if you got hurt because of me” she said and sat on her futon. “I wish I didn't have to marry that bastard, he is so fowl and…just…ew ….and he is so rude!” Kagome yelled, her bad temper getting higher. She then calmed down a little when Sesshoumaru covered his ears. `Oh, I'm sorry.” She apologized.

 

Kagome yawned and went over to her wardrobe. Sesshoumaru turned around when she dressed into a sleeping kimono. “Well, goodnight, Sesshoumaru” she said and went to bed on her futon. Sesshoumaru fell asleep sitting up, afterwards.
