Chapter 5:A Sudden Attraction

 

 

 

Kagome ran faster and faster, away from the palace. `You must run Kagome, don't worry about me, and stay safe.' A voice kept saying in her head, she kept running. Suddenly she stopped when she heard a vile laugh and a slam that felt like an earthquake.

 

`Oh no' Kagome thought and the next thing she knew, she was running straight back to the palace. She ran in to see a man with a very blurry face staring down at another man whose face was also very blurry. `Oh god, no!' Kagome thought as she ran to the man on the floors side. The only part of his face she could see was the blood red eyes. The man standing over him shoved Kagome out of the way. Kagome only heard the low pitched scream and the splatter of blood…

Kagome woke up sweating; her heart was pounding like a drum inside her chest. She wiped cold sweat off of her brow. `Oh thank god! It was just a dream' Kagome thought as she looked down at her blanket.

 

“Are you okay” a low voice asked. “Oh, Sesshoumaru, yes I am okay.” Kagome answered, staring at the very awake Sesshoumaru. “I smell fear, what is wrong?” He asked sternly and stood up. “Just a dream, not a big deal” she answered and laid down. “What Dream?” He asked. Kagome sat up angrily. “Why should you care?! You're nothing but a slave!!” She yelled, a small tear falling down her pale face. Sesshoumaru said nothing. Kagome gasped “Sesshoumaru, I-I-“

 

“Its okay” Sesshoumaru said and walked back to the corner he was sitting in. “Oh god!” Kagome whispered, a few more tears falling. She didn't mean to yell such vile things to Sesshoumaru, but the dream she had was beyond anything she had ever dreamt; it was so horrible.

 

Kagome turned to say something to Sesshoumaru, but found that Sesshoumaru wasn't there. Kagome got up “Where did he go?” she asked herself. She walked out of her bed room, only to find an empty hall way. She walked quietly past Naraku's room and into the garden.

 

She walked over to a little pond, where she found Sesshoumaru, staring into it. His face showed no emotion as always, but his golden eyes showed sadness and loss. “Sesshoumaru?” Kagome asked and walked next to him. He turned to her and bowed. “Yes, milady?” He said. Kagome couldn't help but feel a little guilty. “I am really sorry Sesshoumaru, I didn't mean to be so rude…” she said. He turned back to the water. “I told you it was alright, after all, that is what I am” he stated. “It is not what you want to be thought! You are still a powerful youkai of the western lands! Why don't you fight back?!” She asked, not even realizing she grabbed onto his arm. Sesshoumaru shook her hands off and replied. “When I was captured, some Miko took my powers away, I am nothing…” he said and walked further into the garden.

 

Kagome stood there `his powers are gone?' she thought. She then followed him. “Well, to me, I don't see you as a slave, I see you as of what I have read; a Lord.” She stated. Sesshoumaru froze, surprise showing on his face. He turned around to look at Kagome. Then his face was normal, he walked past her and said “Well, that is your opinion, I doubt anyone's is the same”

 

Kagome was then alone; she doubted that she could take this conversation any farther. She walked back into the palace and up to her room. Sesshoumaru was lying next to the wall, sleeping.

 

`Wow' Kagome thought; he looked as if he was a fallen angel; weak but powerful at the same time. Kagome crawled under her covers and stared a Sesshoumaru a little more. Soon, she fell asleep.

“Kagome! Wake up!” A high pitched voice yelled. Kagome awoke to see Sango looming over her. “What?” Kagome asked with a tired expression on her face. “Emperor Naraku would like you to join him for breakfast.” She said answered and pulled Kagome out of bed. “He said that he has wedding plans to discuss.” Sango said and picked out a black kimono. “Black?” Kagome asked. “Yes, you should be morning” Sango said with a giggle. Kagome laughed too.

 

Then Kagome remembered last night. She looked for Sesshoumaru but he wasn't anywhere in the room. “Where's Sesshoumaru, Sango?”

 

“He said he needed to get clean, so I said that you wouldn't mind if he left for a while.” Sango said and helped Kagome into the kimono.

 

Sango stepped back when finished. “Well, now go to your wonderful fiancé Naraku.” Sango said sarcastically and batted her eyes as if Naraku really was wonderful. “Oh stop it Sango, you and I both know that I HATE him, so don't even joke about it.” Kagome playfully swatted at Sango.

 

“Ok, sorry. I have to go, Naraku will probably want that new book that comes in soon” Sango said as she walked out of the bedroom. Kagome sighed; Sango had been her very best friend ever since she first came to the palace. They were best friends right from the moment when they first met.

 

“Kagome, I shall escort you to breakfast” a man said outside the door. “Oh, ok Miroku, I'll be right there.” Kagome yelled. Miroku, she met the week after she got here; he was a butler and a lecher. The first day they met, he asked her to bear his son. Of course he was denied and earned a slap.

 

Kagome and Miroku walked into the dinning room and Kagome was seated. Then Sesshoumaru came in, all clean and handsome. He sat on the floor next to Kagome; not saying a word. Kagome stared him, a little confused then looked at her plate. She then gave the plate to Sesshoumaru and he tasted it. He nodded and looked up. Suddenly, Kagome and Sesshoumaru's eyes met.

 

They stared into each others eyes until Naraku cleared his throat. “Darling, about the wedding, have you yet decided on a color for you wedding Kimono?”

 

“No, I haven't, milord.” She said simply and started eating. “Well, you do know that in one year it will be time” Naraku said. Kagome froze for a moment; she had forgotten. She nodded hesitantly and started eating again.

 

Sesshoumaru seemed to be the only one that could see Kagome's fear in Naraku, and by the looks of it, the engagement wasn't helping.

 

After breakfast Kagome and Sesshoumaru were back out in the garden; of course Sango was there as well. “So how was your breakfast?” She asked. “All he asked was what color for a kimono” Kagome answered and picked a tulip. Sango and Kagome kept talking while Sesshoumaru just sat at the edge of the pond he was at last night.

 

Sesshoumaru stared at his reflection thinking about last night. `How could I not be a slave in her eyes? I am after all, her slave, she is very weird…' he thought as he swatted at his reflection.

 

Suddenly, Inuyasha's scent was on the wind. Sesshoumaru growled. He turned around to see Inuyasha standing behind him. Inuyasha closed his eyes and said “Sesshoumaru, I need to talk to you”
