She could still remember the last time she had seen him...
“Inuyasha I wanted to tell you something,” Kagome and Inuyasha stood the entrance to his father’s tomb. Already Sango, Miroku and the other’s where ahead of them, and somewhere Inuyasha could smell the scent of his half brother Sesshomaru.
“What is it Kagome? Can’t this wait until later? Naraku is in there and...”
“Naraku can wait Inuyasha! Won’t you even listen to me for once?” It was to be their last battle and Kagome knew it, there might not be another chance after this. “Inuyasha I wanted to tell you something, something very important.”
It was her tone that made him wait, nothing else in the world could have stopped him from going after Naraku.”What is it Kagome? Is something wrong?” He worried for her and yet...he knew the others where out there. Kagura, Kanna, and even that idiot Kouga was showing off. “You’re not hurt are you?”
“No Inuyasha it’s not that, I just wanted to tell you incase... incase.” She felt as if she was about to cry but... no she wouldn’t!
“What do you mean, in case? Kagome we’re going to win, trust me... I wouldn’t let anything happen to you. I promise, do you understand?” He placed his hand on her shoulders, “I’ll protect you with my life Kagome.”
She looked away from Inuyasha, “All I’m saying is if we don’t win Inuyasha... I want you to know that, even though I know you love Kikyo....”
A look of pain swept of Inuyasha’s face and his grasp on Kagome’s shoulders weakened. “Kikyo is dead Kagome, Naraku killed her... She’s not coming back this time.”
“I wanted to tell you Inuyasha, I meant to but.”
“But what Kagome? What is it that you know about Kikyo?” His grasp tightened again and Kagome’s heart sunk. She had know hadn’t she? All along she had known where Inuyasha’s heart really was.
“I saw Kikyo Inuyasha, she’s alive.”
“What! Why didn’t you tell me Kagome!?” He let go of her altogether now and watched her with a searching gaze.
“I meant to Inuyasha, it’s just that I...”
“Kagome I...” He wrapped Kagome in his arms, “It’s okay... I just wish you would have told me that’s all. She’s, not even the real Kikyo. She’s just an imitation, forcing what’s left of Kikyo to remain in this world.” Relief flooded through Kagome, perhaps their was still a chance that Inuyasha might really...”
“What did you want to tell me Kagome, we have to hurry. The others are already inside with Naraku.”
“I just wanted to tell you Inuyasha,” She looked up and met his eyes. ‘This is it... I’ve got to tell him now or I never will.”
“Tell me what Kagome?”
“To tell you that I...”
From his father’s tomb there came a great crash. “Miroku!!” Someone, probably Sango screamed for the monk. Inuyasha’s eyes narrowed and he started to draw away from Kagome.
“Inuyasha wait! I have to tell you before...”But she knew he wouldn’t listen, he would go now no matter what she said.
“You can tell me after we beat Naraku Kagome, there will be plenty of time afterwards.” He smiled at her and all she could do was nod. After all, there would always be tomorrow, right? Right?
