A Lifelong Truama

It was such a pleasant, calm scene. Miroku stood on a hill overlooking the village where he lived with Sango and their three children. A faint smile on his face, he made his way down towards his house where his family waited for him.

As Miroku walked, his staff tinkling as it hit the ground, he felt a faint tickling on his right palm. He switched the staff to his other hand, but the tickling got worse. It caused him to stop and itch his palm impatiently. The nails of his left hand had flakes of skin underneath them when he was through. Shrugging it off as dry skin, he approached his house.

`Ah, I'm finally home,' Miroku thought.

An explosion of pain suddenly lanced through Miroku's palm like a knife that had been made red-hot in a forge. In shock and pain he grabbed his wrist, mouth and eyes wide in terror.

It began as a small, dark, spiral…and grew much too quickly.

`This can't be happening!' Miroku thought in a panic. `Naraku is dead and the curse lifted!'

The kazaana blossomed to deadly life, and desperately Miroku sought to redirect it away from his house and family. The monk screamed, terrified. He almost missed InuYasha running towards him.

“Miroku, what's happened?” InuYasha cried.

“InuYasha, get Sango and the kids out of here - quickly!”

Too late…the door opened and his twin girls peeked out.

“Daddy…?”

“GET AWAY!”

InuYasha scooped them up. The kazaana started ripping at the roof of his house. Sango and his baby son were in there! It began sucking up the house…

Miroku woke in a cold sweat, panting hard. It took a moment to get oriented. In the dark next to him, lay Sango sleeping with their baby. Thank kami, it was just a nightmare…..
