A/N: This is Chapter Four edited by me. I did some changing around of phrases and that is pretty much it.
A/N : Sorry about the cliffy at the end of the last chapter. I was so bloody tired that I couldn't think of anything else to write plus it would have gone on like another eight or nine pages. And then I would have bored everyone to sleep.
A/N : Okie so this chapter starts off in Kagome's point of view when Inuyasha and the gang left to go with Kaeda to the temple. Remember she is still unconscious and that all this is happening in her head. Sorry I know this chapter is going to been full of info as well but it is necessary to the plot.
A/N : This is my first fan fiction that is online and I would love it I got some reviews. I really want honest opinions because I usually just email my stories to my friends and they say they like my stories and sometimes I wonder if they are lying or not… :::looks at her friends hiding in the corner:::

Chapter Four
Secrets of the Light Revealed
Kagome felt warm and safe for the first time that day. She could feel someone trying to talk to her but she didn't wish to wake up yet. She could also feel a light trying to pierce through her eyelids. Kagome raised her hand and tried to cover her eyes and found that her arm was heavy and took her a really long time to just raise it from her side to her eyes.
The light was getting brighter and the voice was getting louder. Who is it? I don't want to get up, yet. I feel so warm… go away… thought Kagome. But the voice and light wouldn't stop. Kagome could now feel the light covering her whole body even though her eyes were tightly closed and her hand was over her eyes.
Kagome tried to sit up and found that that was also hard to do. It was as if someone was trying to stop her by pushing gently on her shoulders to keep her lying down. Kagome finally uncovered her eyes and opened then to yell at the person to go away. She had actually fully expected to see Inuyasha sitting before her. He was famous for his impatience and her wanting to sleep would have caused him to try to bug her awake.
Instead she was looking into the face of the youkai that had helped her to rid the youki of the memory that had possessed her. She was floating over Kagome and had her hands gently on Kagome's shoulders.
"It's you!" yelped out Kagome in surprise.
"Yes Kagome, it is I. You need to rest. You must not yet get up. You have been through a great ordeal," replied the youkai as she pushed Kagome back down into a lying position.
"Where am I? Where is Inuyasha? I could have sworn that he was here." Kagome started to look around and her eyes widened in shock. She wasn't lying on the ground but was lying in mid-air and her body was wrapped in a warm and protective light. The light was soft and it didn't take time for Kagome's eyes to adjust. Different colour lights were streaking around her. They were all a soft pastel colour and every time one got near her Kagome would feel a rush of warmth that calmed her very soul.
"You are in my realm, Kagome. Well, at least your soul is in my realm. Your soul had to fight pretty hard against my youki and resting in the earthly realm would have taken too long. And time is something that we do not have," replied the youkai.
"What do you mean `time is something that we do not have?'" asked Kagome as a soft blue light streaked between her and the youkai and warmed Kagome's legs.
"Things have been set in motion that can not be undone. A great evil is coming and you are greatly needed to stop it."
"Are you talking about, Naraku? We know about Naraku and his quest for the Shikon Shards. We will not lose to him." Kagome had a look of determination on her face. It made the youkai smile, but that was not to last.
"Kagome, it is not this Naraku youkai. Though this youkai is helping to unleash the youkai that I am speaking of."
"Who is it?"
"During the War of Darkness he was the most feared youkai. He was the greatest enemy of the Western youkai and the humans that lived within that realm. His name was Ryuzaburo. He was sealed away long ago and it was forbidden for any human, youkai or hanyou to even go near the site in which the youkai was sealed. However someone or something has find out where he was sealed and is trying to awaken him.'
"This needs to be stopped at all costs, Kagome. If he is released then the earthly realm will fall. Without the youkai that stood as his equal to fight him he will come back stronger than ever before. Especially since the Shikon no Tama has been shattered and the miko who stood against Ryuzaburo is dead."
"How can I stop this? Is the youkai that stood against him still alive?" Suddenly it hit her. This youkai in front of her was the youkai that stood against him. She was the one that was his equal. "Please, tell me your name?"
The youkai smiled and looked deep into Kagome's eyes. Kagome felt like the youkai was searching through her very soul. Finally after what felt let an hour the youkai blinked and her smile widened, "I do not have a name, for I am a Youkai of Light. However, when I ascended to the earthly realm a young prince youkai of the west named me `Sorano'. I have used that name ever since that day. I can tell by your eyes that you have figured out that I was the youkai that stood as Ryuzaburo's equal and his greatest adversary."
"Then you are still alive! You can help us! With you at our side we can stop this Ryuzaburo from coming back." Kagome smiled as she stared at Sorano. I can feel a great power coming from you. You are truly a powerful youkai. With your help we will be able to stop the youkai from being unsealed. You could even help us stop Naraku!
"I am truly sorry, Kagome, but I longer exist in this world. I was sealed about sixty years ago by the miko that stood against Ryuzaburo," Kagome looked at Sorano with shock.
“She betrayed you?”
"Now don't get the wrong idea. Hitomi never betrayed me. It was the only way to stop Ryuzaburo. Hitomi and I secretly planned a way to seal Ryuzaburo using my light youki to seal his yami youki. However someone is now trying to free Ryuzaburo from his seal. I do not know how much longer I will be able to stop this person."
"Are you getting weak from helping me?" asked Kagome, her voice full of concern.
"No, Kagome. I am using almost no power to help you right now. This is one of my abilities as a light youkai."
"I have never heard of a light youkai before, and with searching for Shikon Shards I have come across a lot of youkai. What is a light youkai? Where do you come from?" asked Kagome.
"You are as full of questions as a small children looking at the world for the first time. You remind me so much of Inuyasha. When he was younger he would ask so many questions and had to touch everything," Sorano fell silent for a moment. Kagome wanted to ask Sorano what Inuyasha was like as a child but she could ask her that anytime. If she and Inuyasha and the gang were going to stop Ryuzaburo she would need to know what made her so special that she stood as his equal. "I fear in telling you what it is that I am for then I will be revealing my strengths and my weaknesses."
Kagome sat up, despite Sorano trying to make her lie down, and placed her hands on Sorano's shoulders and looked deep into her silver opal eyes. "You do not need to fear anything, Sorano. I will never betray you. If we are going to stop Ryuzaburo from coming back then we need know what you were."
Sorano sighed and nodded to Kagome. "Alright, but on one condition."
Kagome tilted her head to one side and raised an eyebrow.
"You lie back down so you can heal." Kagome giggled and did what she was told. Sorano let out a deep sigh and scratched at her temple with closed eyes. Kagome could tell that she was thinking of what to say or how to word it.
"The reason that you have never met a light youkai or heard about them is because we do not exist in the `earthly realm'. And what I mean by the `earthly realm' is the physical plain. The world that you exist in, Kagome, is full of physical forms and beings. As you can tell by looking around here there are no physical forms or beings. These lights are all youkai and youki. This is the Light Realm. It exists between the earthly realm and after life.'
"My father is the ruler of this realm and he is the one that makes sure that the earthly realm is equally balanced. He has to make sure that the light and dark forces of the world are balanced. And if the balance is ever shifted then a light youkai ascends to the earthly realm to fix the balance of power. I was ascended when Ryuzaburo was just starting to unleash his darkness and corruption on the earthly realm.'
"I took on the physical form that you see before you. My true form is a secret. And if I ever unleashed it on the earthly realm the power of my light would destroy and cause chaos in the earthly realm. However since I did ascend as early as I did I was given four items of darkness to balance my youki in the earthly realm."
"Four items of darkness? Why would you have darkness on you when you are the light?"
"These four items balanced me. Otherwise I would not be able to have a physical form or be around anyone because of my light. The four items of darkness acted as a counterpart to balance my light. The first item that I carried was a Wind Gauntlet with a youkai sealed within it. I wore it upon my left hand and it balanced one fourth of my light. The youkai that was sealed within it acted as my scout and as my kekkai. Her name was Yuki-chan.'
"The second item was the Fire Plate. It was the armour that I wore. It was as light as a feather and yet harder then the thickest skins or scales of any youkai. The third item that I wore was the Water Anklet. It made it so that I was as agile, fast, and as graceful as the rivers of the earthly realm. The last item I carried was Otoru, the sword forged by the beings of Light and blessed by the spirits of the Earth. With these four items I was now a youkai of the earthly realm who possessed the powers of the light.'
"Ryuzaburo was my opposite in every way. He also had four items that he kept a secret. Not even his closed allies knew what the four items were, and though all his items were that of light they were just as powerful as mine. The most feared of his items was his sword, Katuri. It was created by the fires of Hell and condemned by all living spirits."
"Why would he keep them a secret? I mean, you just told me what yours were. What is the big deal if someone knew the items that made you an earthly youkai?"
"Have you not figured it out? You just stated it yourself. `Items that made you an earthly youkai.' If I told everyone what my items were, all they would have to do is steal one and they would gain immense power and I would be unbalanced because I would only leave me with three or less of my items. The strain of staying in this realm would shatter my being and kill everyone and everything that was around me. The same would go for Ryuzaburo."
"So let me get this straight. In order for you to stay in the earthly realm you need those four items of darkness to balance yourself and to keep your physical from. And even though you on the earthly realm and considered an earthly youkai you still have your original powers as a light youkai?"
Sorano smiled, "I was hoping that you would catch on that fast. That is why you must stop Ryuzaburo from being unsealed. I had to remove my four items when I was sealed because they were too powerful for Hitomi to seal. But Ryuzaburo didn't remove his own. When he is unleashed on the earthly realm it will take him only five days to completely regain his powers and to cover this world in darkness once more."
"By the sounds of this, Sorano, we need to unseal you too! We cannot stop Ryuzaburo alone. You will be needed to deal with him as we figure out a way of getting rid of him for good!"
"Kagome, if only it were that simple. I cannot be unsealed. It is not allowed. I was sealed to keep Ryuzaburo sealed and-"
"Someone is unsealing him! By the sounds of this seal it is a two-pronged one. You used your power and the power of the miko to seal him, right? Then the only way to unseal him is to unseal you as well, but that is not what is happening. Someone has found a way to unseal him without unsealing you because they did not want you to stop Ryuzaburo."
Kagome looked deep into Sorano's eyes. She knew that she was right and she could only think of one youkai that would do such a thing. Naraku! And from what she was hearing from Sorano she needed to be unsealed and quick. At least with unsealing Sorano they would stand a chance. Not to mention they would have five days to get a defence set up.
"Look Sorano, I know that this hard for you to understand because it has been your job for the last sixty years to keep Ryuzaburo sealed. But it is too late for that now. We must unseal you and the sooner the better," Kagome reached up and placed her hand on Sorano's cheek and smiled at her. "I know that you are probably scared as to what is going to happen but it is the only way to stop him. He is going to be unsealed. Like you said `things have been set in motion that can not be undone' and you need to be here when that happens."
Sorano reached up and placed her hand over Kagome's hand on her cheek. "I know you are right, but I still feel like I failed. And there are things that need to be done first before I can be unsealed. Hitomi took every precaution when she sealed me. My four items have been hidden throughout the West. There is an old priest that lives in a village to the northeast of here. He knows the location of Yuki-chan. Yuki-chan then knows the location of the other three items. You must get there as fast as you can. I will no longer be able to contact you, as I will need my full concentration on keeping the seal on Ryuzaburo intact. That way when you unseal me we will five days from then to prepare."
"Do you need those five days to get to your full strength?” asked Kagome.
"Yes…" Sorano hesitated for a moment.
"What is it?"
"Well, it would not take me as long if I were to `feed' off another," Sorano removed her hand and looked away from Kagome.
Kagome was confused. What does she mean feed off another? Why does she look so sad, or is that she is ashamed of feeding? "Now is not the time to be hesitant. What do you mean by feeding?"
"If I were to feed off another whose light was closer to mine, it would only take three days to be at full strength. I could… feed off of a powerful miko… that means I would need to feed off of you…" Sorano was still not looking at her.
Kagome removed her hand and tried to catch Sorano's eye. "Sorano, I am not a powerful miko. I only have my spirit arrows. I would not have to power that you needed to feed from."
"That's were you are wrong, Kagome." Sorano looked at Kagome. "You have the makings of a very powerful miko within you. I can sense it, and to prove it you purified the youki of that memory that possessed you. It was a very powerful youki. No normal human or miko could have done that, yet you did. I have faith in you, Kagome. You just need to train yourself. I know you can do it!"
"But we don't have time! Training to be a miko takes years and we need to get to that village straight away!" answered Kagome.
"You just need to believe in yourself Kagome. I know you can do it. I must leave now. I will have to dispel myself from you. So this is farewell for now. Remember the village is to the northeast of here. If you hurry it will only take you two days to get there. Believe in yourself, and you will find a way. Remember that your powers comes from the strength of your soul and the love in your heart." Sorano placed her hand on Kagome's cheek, "Fare thee well."
Everything around Kagome exploded with intense light. Kagome closed her eyes as the light overpowered her senses. She could feel it wrapping itself around her body. She was becoming warmer and warmer until it was almost unbearable. Kagome tensed up and screamed out in pain as the light exploded from her body. Then she was swallowed by the darkness.
***
Shippo was lying on the floor next to Kagome. He was running his small hands through her hair. He was so worried for Kagome. He couldn't believe what had happened in the clearing. She was stronger then he thought. Even now, with her being so weak, he could sense her power. It was coming back very quickly and he wouldn't be surprised if she was awake in the morning.
Shippo sat himself up a little and looked at Kagome's sleeping face. She really was beautiful and if Inuyasha didn't see that, then he was really stupid. Kagome was so kind and caring and even Shippo knew that Kagome loved Inuyasha very much. Shippo couldn't see how someone could be so dense. He after all was just a little kid and he could sense that Kagome loved Inuyasha yet, Inuyasha was the `grown up' and he couldn't tell. Or wouldn't tell.
Shippo sat thinking about this for a while. He didn't even notice that Kagome was starting to glow. It wasn't very noticeable at first, but soon she was completely covered in a thin layer of cherry blossom light. Shippo started and backed away and was about to yell for Inuyasha when he saw the look on Kagome's face. She wasn't in any pain. She was actually smiling.
"Kagome…" Shippo called quietly.
Shippo leaned over and placed his ear over her chest. Her heartbeat was normal and her breathing was fine. "I guess you are just healing yourself Kagome. Well, as long as you are not in pain, then I guess you're alright."
Shippo laid back down beside Kagome and ran his hands through her hair again. It was warm to the tough and sent shivers down Shippo's spine. He liked how it felt. It was like someone was holding him very close to them and he felt safe and protected. Soon Shippo was dozing off. Her hair was so soft and with the added shivers Shippo was becoming very calm and relaxed.
Shippo feel into a dreamless sleep, a small smile upon his face. But little did he notice that Kagome was starting to glow brighter and brighter. She was also starting to levitate off of the floor of Kaeda's hut. Kagome was now flowing about three feet off of the floor and Shippo was no longer touching her hair. The blanket that was covering Kagome slowly slid off of her as her body rotated to a standing position.
The blanket fell to the floor and covered Kirara, who was sleeping at Kagome's feet. Kirara awoke with a start and tried to find her way out from under the blanket. She poked her head out from under the blanket and `meowed' loudly at what she saw. Kagome was now bobbing up and down ever so slightly and was glowing an intense cherry blossom pink. The whole hut was now a light from it. Kirara ran over to Shippo and started to meow in his ear. Shippo merely raised his hand and shooed Kirara away. It took Kirara actually biting Shippo's hand to awaken him.
"Ouch!! Kirara, what are doing?" asked a very upset fox youkai. Shippo raised his hand to shield his eyes, "What the hell…" was all Shippo managed to say as he looked at Kagome now floating in mid-air and giving off a very powerful light.
"Oh shit! Inuyasha is going to kill me!! Kagome!! Kagome wake up!!" Shippo yelled at Kagome and jumped up and made to grab her leg. However when Shippo came into contact with the light that now surrounded her body he was thrust back and hit the wall. He yelled out in pain and slowly got up on his shaking legs.
"Kirara, we need to get Inuyasha. He is going to be really pissed at me, but I didn't do anything. Come on!" yelled Shippo as they ran across the hut and out the bamboo curtain doorway.
***
Inuyasha stood up and stretched. "First Kagome is possessed by some youkai's memory that is bent on killing Sesshomaru. Then she actually tries to kill Sesshomaru and almost does. Then she purifies the youki and is now unconscious in Kaeda-baba's hut," Inuyasha was speaking with Sango and Miroku as they make there way out of the temple and down the steps, "I swear nothing else can possibly go wrong today!"
"INUYASHA!!!!"
That was Shippo's voice!! Kagome! Before Miroku and Sango could completely turn in the direction of the hut, Inuyasha was running down the stairs and heading for Kaeda's hut.
"KAGOME!"
Inuyasha was jumping down the stairs five at a time. Please let her be okay. Don't let her leave me!! He landed on the ground and started running towards the hut. Inuyasha could see a strange light coming from inside. "What the hell is going on now?" Inuyasha quickened his paced and in doing so ran right past Shippo.
"Inuyasha!!! Inuyasha!" yelled Shippo and turned around in mid run and ran back towards Inuyasha, Kirara following closely behind.
Inuyasha stopped and turned around and saw that he had run right past Shippo. "Shippo, what the hell is going on? I asked you to watch over Kagome!" Inuyasha waited for Shippo to catch up and then started to run towards to the hut.
"I was watching her, Inuyasha. She started to glow softly, but she wasn't in any pain. She was actually smiling. I figured that she was healing herself. But then something came over me as I ran my fingers through her hair. I became sleepy and when Kirara woke me up Kagome was…"
But Shippo never had to finish his sentence. Inuyasha was at the hut and ripped the bamboo curtain right off the doorway. He had to take a few steps back and shield his eyes. When they adjusted he saw Kagome, floating in midair, covered with that strange cherry blossom light.
"It's the same as when she was possessed. Miroku that perverted lying ass!!" yelled Inuyasha.
"What did I do?" yelled Miroku, who make Inuyasha nearly jump out of his skin.
Inuyasha turned around and saw Miroku and Sango, clearly out of breath, coming up behind him. Inuyasha grabbed Miroku by the front of his robes and yelled, "You said that you did not sense that youki from earlier coming from Kagome anymore. And that is the same light-" he pointed into the hut, "-that was coming off of her before!"
"Inuyasha, I still don't sense that evil youki. This light that is coming off of Kagome is not harming her. Look at her face!" replied Miroku in the calmest yelling voice he could muster.
Inuyasha let Miroku down and looked into the hut at Kagome. He was right she looked peaceful and as if floating in midair was something that she did all the time. However Inuyasha didn't like it. Something was fishy about this light and he didn't trust it. Last time Kagome was covered in light like this she was possessed by youki that nearly killed her and Sesshomaru.
"So what do we do about Kagome-chan?" asked Sango, whose voice was full of concern.
Miroku was about to say something when Kagome let out a gasp. Inuyasha ran into the hut and tried to help her but was thrust back by the light and hit the wall.
Inuyasha growled and slowly got to his feet. He could smell Kagome's fear and the light got brighter and she started to moan out in pain.
"She's not in pain my ass, Miroku! What is going on?" yelled Inuyasha out of frustration as he grabbed his head and shook it. He couldn't stand it any more. Kagome was going through so much and he, Inuyasha, couldn't do anything to stop it. Why does this always happen? Why does the woman I cherish have to suffer!
Kagome screamed out so loud and it dug right into Inuyasha's soul. "The youki is dispelling itself, Inuyasha! Get out of there!" yelled Miroku.
"I am not leaving Kagome!" yelled Inuyasha as he stared at Kagome. Kagome arched her back and the light exploded from her body. Inuyasha covered his eyes as the light shot every which way. Kagome's scream was still echoing in his head when the light finally dissipated.
Inuyasha opened his eyes and the sight made his mouth fall open. Kagome was still flowing in mid-air but she was being held up by the youkai that was in the painting in the temple.
"Aneue?" stated Inuyasha quietly. The youkai looked at Inuyasha and smiled.
"She will be fine, Inuyasha. You take care of her. She is more precious then you will ever know." Inuyasha nodded and walked forward and took Kagome into his arms. Inuyasha looked down at Kagome and pulled her close to himself.
"I will protect Kagome with my life, Aneue," said Inuyasha. Inuyasha looked up at the youkai and she smiled again at Inuyasha.
"We will be seeing each other sooner than you think, my dear Inuyasha." With that said, the youkai turned into a ball of light and vanished in a puff of smoke.
"Inuyasha…"
Inuyasha jumped at hearing Kagome's voice and looked down at her. She smiled at Inuyasha and he finally relaxed.
"Kagome, are you okay?"
"Hai. But we have a lot of work to do and not much time to do it." Inuyasha looked at Kagome confused and she just smiled and nuzzled herself against Inuyasha's chest and breathed in his scent. Inuyasha looked down at Kagome and marvelled at how wonderful it felt to have Kagome in his arms again. Inuyasha placed his head on hers and let her rest in his arms.
A/N: okie how was that chapter. I know it was probably pretty boring but it needed to happen or the plot would suck some serious ass. Just to let you all know that once the meet and greet of the characters are over the rating of this story will rise to NC17. I just needed to introduce the characters and get the plot rolling.
