Chapter 12

A Strange New Girl

“Miroku, why do we have to go to your stupid ass masters shrine? We need to find the damn jewel shards!!” A very irritated Inuyasha shouted. “Because my dear friend, I got a letter from Hachi saying that Master Mushi was in very bad condition. He was attacked by a demon and got a large open wound. That and he used a lot of his spiritual powers.” Miroku replied. “Keh, I still don't see why we got to come…..its not like that old man has done anything for us.” Inuyasha rudely told him. “That's right Inuyasha; he only took care of me when both my parents died. But that counts as nothing doesn't it?” Miroku told him bitterly. After that even Inuyasha was silent but him and Miroku got in a full fledged staring contest. Sango decided to interrupt their little `game' because it was almost sunset. “Well I think we have gone far enough for one day. Miroku? How much farther do you think Master Mushi's shrine is?” “At least 3 more days if we hurry. It will take 4 if we decide to slack. But I want to be by my masters' side as soon as possible!” Miroku exclaimed with determination. “Alright then you pervert I suggest we get some sleep.” Sango said playfully. They ate a dinner of fish and then went to sleep.

(Meanwhile)

“Kia, honey let go of my hair.” Rin said to the infant in her arms. This only made the pup pull harder though. “Ow! Stop it Ki! Man am I gonna tell Kags when she gets back.” Rin cried in pain. `Why did she have to leave? She just all the sudden came home asking her oldest daughter of 7. Katera if she wanted to go with her. And she left me with the responsibility of watching Kia.' Rin thought angrily. “Mommy, you swants me sno take Kia sno the garden with Chie?” Kiasma asked sweetly. “Yes Kiasma honey that's a great idea.” Rin told her while handing Kia to Chie. “Go get some sleep my lady. I am sure Lady Kagome is taking fine care of Katera.” Chie said calmly. “Yeah, I guess. Thanks again Chie!” Rin said as she left for her bedroom.

(Back to the Inu-gang)

“URGG!!! Are we there yet!?!?” Inuyasha screamed warily. “For the one millionth time Inuyasha…NO!!” Miroku yelled back. It had been like this ever since Miroku said they were close to the shrine. “Are we…” “I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO SAY INUYASHA AND THE ANSWER IS NOOO!!!!!!” Miroku screamed. Inuyasha was taken aback by this so decided to shut-up. Ever since they got news that Master Mushi was in fatal health Miroku had been very irritable. Even with Sango which surprised everyone. He hadn't even tried to grope her in days. Now that was too weird. So everyone decided that Miroku was truly and sincerely worried about his Master. “Finally…” Miroku sighed. “We're here.” Everyone looked up at the shrine they have seen so many times before, before a little black blur rush past them and into the forest. “Lady Katera! Please come back! Your Aunt will kill me if you get lost!” An exhausted Hachi yelled after the blur before dropping to the ground. “Hachi!” Miroku exclaimed. “Where's Master Mushi?” He asked fearfully. “Relax Master Miroku; Master Mushi is being treated as we speak by one of the best healers in the country. Which is why I am running around looking for that pup.” Hachi explained while looking for the black blur. “KATERA, GET OUT HERE RIGHT NOW BEFORE I GO GET YOUR AUNT!!!” He finally yelled at the top of his lungs. “Nooooo….Ok Master Hachi….You win…This time…” A girl about the age of seven said as she stepped out from behind the brush. “Finally. Thank for surrendering Lady Katera.” Hachi said exasperated. “Who said I was surrendering Master Hachi. I am only giving you a break because we have guest.” Katera said with false sweetness. “Uggg, you are around your Aunt too much.” “I know Master Hachi, but that's why you love me isn't it!” Katera said while giving Hachi a kiss on the cheek causing him to blush and sputter. While Hachi was doing that Katera acted like a lady and greeted their guest. “Hi everybody. As you heard from Hachi my name is Katera, Lady Katera to be exact. But I am guessing you are here to Master Mushi?” Katera said with utmost respect. “Uh….yes….I have come to see Master Hachi….and exactly what are you doing here?” Miroku asked. He didn't like the idea about a child being around his hurt master. “Well I am the niece of the person that is healing Master Mushi at the moment!” She replied with some serious attitude. “But I am presuming that you are Miroku the monk?” She asked as well. “Uh, yes…” “Oh well I warm you not to rope my aunts butt right here and now or you will never wake up.” “Katera!” An angelic voice called in the distance. “Do you want to help me with the laundry?” It asked. “Yes, Auntie, I'm coming!! Well I guess I'll see you guys around. Come on Master Hachi, you have to watch after Master Mushi while I'm gone.”

Katera said while dragging Hachi along with her. Inuyasha's ear twitched violently. “What the hell was that!?!?” He shouted only to notice everyone walking away. “Hey where are you going?!?” He yelled. “To see who is taking care of my master!!” Miroku yelled back. Inuyasha followed stubbornly. When they got to the river they quietly hid themselves in the bushes and peered at the woman who was taking care of Mirokus' master. Who stood before them was a complete angel. She had hair the color of ebony, eye a brilliant glacier blue, lips the were the color of peaches, and a well filled out body. “She's beautiful.” Shippo thought out loud. “You can say that again.” Miroku told him before getting hit by Sango. While they were bickering that sweet voice brought them out of there thoughts. “Katera, you want to sing something while we are washing?” “Yes!! Can you sing that one song that you sing to me when you tuck me in?!” Katera asked eagerly. “Sure. That's one of my favorites anyway.” She started to hum a tune before starting singing in her angelic voice.

Many nights we've prayed
With no proof anyone could hear-
In our hearts a hopeful song
We barely understood.
Now we are not afraid-
Although we know there's much to fear.
We were moving mountains long before we knew we could!

“That's the sweetest sound ever to hit my hears.” Miroku said without thinking. But he didn't get hit by Sango because she was too caught up in the song.

The woman walked over to Katera and thumped her nose. While picking her up she let her hang up a sheet on the clothesline. Than started to sing again.

In this time of fear,
When prayer so often proved in vain,
Hope seemed like the summer birds
Too swiftly flown away.
Yet now I'm standing here
With heart so full Ii can't explain,
Seeking faith and speaking words
I never thought I'd say.

Inuyasha glared with intensity at her. `She is beautiful, the most beautiful creature I have ever seen…..Wait stupid are you gonna forget about Kagome? She was your life…you owe her yours, you cant get involved with another woman.' Inuyasha was raging a war with his mine when her voice stopped the fight and calmed him down instantly.

Katera started to sing in a different tounge but it sounded beautiful anyway.
