A Look Through My Eyes.

A/N: I Do NOT own Inuyasha or any Inuyasha related characters. But any original characters I add to this are completely mine, and I would appreciate it if you asked before you used them if you wished to use them in a story of yours. Thanks!

Remember.

While she slept, I left the cave. Of course, it killed me to do so, but it had to be done. We needed a better home then the cave, and seeing as the village was destroyed, I was going to make us one.

I had a weird feeling as I thought this. Making a home for us. Almost like we were mated. But . . .she wouldn’t want that. Not with me.

I shook my head, and went back to my search of good, strong trees. Stronger trees meant stronger wood, which meant that there would be less damage in a storm.

The Goshinboku would have been a good tree to use, if I could have bared to cut it down. But I couldn’t. This tree held memories for me. This was the tree I came to when my mother had died, I’d lived up in its branches for quiet some time. It was around here --not directly in the tree but somewhere in the forest around it-- that I meat Kikyo. This tree held our very brutal good bye. I first meat Kagome here, where she released me form Kikyo’s spell. I had kissed Kagome once here too . . . . .

It was a little bit too quiet out here. If Kagome said she wanted to meet me at the Goshinboku shouldn’t she had at least been at the Goshinboku?

But no, stupid wench was no where to be seen. But her scent was still here, as if she had been here then left. Was I late? She’d kill me for that!

But, her scent just carried on the wind, she’s close. I sniffed again, an I think I can smell food. Yes, it is food . . .it’s . . . Ramen! YES!

I jump down out of the branches just as she steps into the tiny clearing surrounded the tree. She’s got a basket on her arm, and she’s wearing a more formal kimono this time. I wonder why . . .

“Hello Inuyasha.” she smiled at me, and I can’t help but smile back. That’s
my smile. The one she uses only when it’s me she’s smiling at.

“Hey.” I glance at the basket. “What’s that for, wench?”

She frowns at the old nickname, and I think I’m going to get ‘sat’ before she shrugs, and opens one side, pulling out a small blanket. She sets the basket down, and unfolds the blanket, laying it on the ground as well. She sits down on it, and I get the picture.

A picnic.

I humour her, just so I won’t get ‘sat’. Plus she had Ramen, so all was good.

Near the end, I start to wonder why she wanted to do this out here, away from everyone else. But before I can ask she speaks up.

“I wonder how long this tree had been here.” she whispers, more to herself I think.

“Uh . . .at least 200 years before this time, I’m sure.” I answered without thinking.

“How do you know it’s at least 200 years old?” she asked. And my face darkens. Crap . . . She doesn’t know how old I am!

“I just do.”

“Why? Did Kaede tell you that?”

Thinking that that was the best answer I could use seeing as I wasn’t coming up with any better ideas, I nodded.

“That’s a lie. Kaede didn’t know how long its been here.”

I pale. She was testing me! God damn it!

“Promise you wont freak?” I whisper, whispering isn’t really something I usually do, so she knew that I was being serious, and this was something I really didn’t want her to know. I was just afraid of her reacting. Demons don’t care how old they or their mates are, but Kagome was human, she might get a little creped out by that.

“Promise.” she replied, smiling. “You can tell me Inuyasha. You can tell me anything.”

And in that instant, I knew I could.

“I know it’s at least 200 years old, cuz that’s how old I am. This tree was still around when I was a pup, 200 years ago.” I muttered, looking down. I didn’t really wanna see her face right now.

When she didn’t answer for a long time I finally looked up, she was smiling.

“What?” I snapped, my eyes narrowing. Did she find this funny?

“Nothing. It’s just nice to finally know how old you are. I’ve been wondering for ages.” I raised an eyebrow, and my expression turned amused. Her cheeks turned red. “I just didn’t want to ask, in case you really didn’t want to tell me. But honestly I thought you were younger, you look so much younger. You look . . . My age.” she whispered the last so quietly I almost didn’t catch it. Was that sadness that I detected in her scent?

“Well technically, I am your age. Demons age slower. So, every though I’m 200 years old, I’m still a kid. Hell, even Sesshomaru’s still a kid!”

“How old is Sesshomaru?”

“He’s 756 years old. In human years he’d be about . . .I dunno . . .20? Maybe 21?”

“756?” her eyes widened.

“That’s in demon years. Years don’t really matter to us that much, seeing as we can almost live forever.”

This seemed to upset her, but I didn’t know why. So, moved closer to her, asking her what was wrong. She just shook her head. Something was wrong, I knew it. I quickly when through out conversation, trying to think of something that I said that may have caused her to become upset. When I found nothing I asked again.

“I’m fine, really.”

“No you’re not.” I snapped, sighing and pulling her into a hug. She shuddered a little, but settled with her head on my shoulder, her arms around my back.

It felt good to hold her like this, really good. So, I tried to pull away after a while.

“Don’t . . .” she whispered, pushing closer to me until she was sitting in my lap. I could feel my face heat up, and I knew I was blushing. She apparently didn’t know where she had put her hand when she had steadied herself. It was a little too close to my groin for comfort right now.

I couldn’t speak. There was a strange look in her eyes, but I couldn’t determine what it was. Her face lifted closer to mine, and my face heated up more.

I dipped my head down as well, instinct taking over at this point.

Gently, my lips touched hers, and my body ignited. It felt like every vein in my body was on fire, shooting that fire everywhere, heating my body until it felt like I was on fire.

Her lips were eager on mine, and I returned that to her. Turning slightly rough. But she didn’t complain. I pushed her back, laying her down on the ground, and I straddled her. Amazed at how good this felt.

Something snapped in the bushes, and I jumped up, growling at what ever it was. My claws are extended, longer then normal, as are my fangs. I think my eyes are red. I can feel the faint pulse of blood behind them.
Shippo stumbled out of the bushes, rubbing his eyes eagerly.

“Shippo?” Kagome asked concerned. She rushed towards him, and lifted him into her arms. This wasn’t easy to do, seeing at the kit was as tall as her waist now.

When he removed his hands from his eyes, they were red, and puffy.

“My eyes are itch, mama.” he complained, trying to dig his eyes out now.

I inhaled deeply, trying to calm myself, and that’s when I caught the strange scent. What was it that Kagome had called it? Toision Eerie? Foision pivery? Poison Ivy? That was it! Poison Ivy!

“I think he ran into some poison ivy Kagome.” I said, stepping closer to him.

“Oh no!” she yelled, and she ran towards Kaede’s hut.

That was the last time I had actually kissed her, and we didn’t get the chance to be alone since then. That was about a month ago, and Shippo’s only now stopped scratching at his eyes. Scratching always made it worse, even his demonic healing couldn’t help him heal if he kept itching it. But at least the kit was fine now.

Shaking my head, I went back to my task, searching for trees to build our home. It felt good to think about it like that. Our home. The home that all of us would live in . . .until I found the courage to ask Kagome to be my mate that is. Then I was kicking everyone out of the hut.

I left the Goshinboku behind me, and zipped through the trees. I could only stand so much time away from Kagome right now. I needed to at least find some good trees soon.
