Chapter 7: Reunions and Farewells

With The Group…

`INUYASHA!!!!!!!!!!' Kikyo screamed. She was in a hot spring bath while waiting for the others to get the campsite cleaned up. (AN: Did you think he was ravishing her? Bad people, no! For all you hentais…not yet...lol) Her plan of having Inuyasha forget all about Kagome was failing miserably. So far, she's only gotten one kiss from the inu-hanyou and that was at the very beginning. He had seemed so unwilling to please, his eyes clouded over with worry ever since they went looking for Kagome.

Inuyasha's ears twitched. He heard the dead miko calling, but something told him to ignore her. He folded one of the blankets and put it back into Kagome's big yellow backpack that she had left behind. A soft sigh escaped his lips as he heard Kikyo scream for him again. With slumped shoulders, he turned and trotted off to see what the spoiled brat wanted. Sango and Miroku stared after him, Kirara and Shippo at their feet.

Inuyasha's mind wandered back to the first day of the hell-ridden trip…the day Kagome left…the day he lost her scent…

**Flashback**

Inuyasha hurried as fast as his legs could possibly carry him, following the scent of Kagome's tears and broken soul. `How'd she make it this far? We were only just there…5 minutes maybe…did it hurt her that badly?' His legs burned with a deep fire as he burst from the forest into the meadow. Her scent lingered there and he ignored the other's protesting for him to wait up. He ran faster and faster, though to himself he seemed to be slowing, his breath coming in raspy huffs. Suddenly, he skidded to a halt. Her scent was gone!

Turning, he went back, slowly sniffing the ground. He smelt where she had laid and the soil that was soaked with her tears. His breath caught in his throat as he smelt others in the area. A growl left his chest as he stared off to the west.

"Sesshoumaru…"

**End flashback**

~* potty mouth warning ~ lime warning *~

"INUYASHA!!!!! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU??" Kikyo screamed right in front of him as he snapped from his daydreams. His ears pressed against his head and he growled.

"WHAT THE FUCK?! I'm right here!!" He yelled back. Kikyo jumped, turning to face him. She was standing in the pool and still naked.

"Oh…I didn't see you… can you give me the towel?" Kikyo pointed to a towel within her reach.

"Is that why you called me here?!" Inuyasha growled, ignoring the fact she was completely naked in front of him. It did nothing for him… He remembered a time that he would have been all over her because of this, but his mind was else where. There was only one woman on his mind. Sulking over, he grabbed the towel and threw it at her. "Come on, we've only got a little farther before we get to Sesshoumaru's palace. We need to hurry." It has taken the group almost 3 weeks to travel to the western lands, when-as normally it would only take half a week. Why they had not gotten rid of Kikyo by now, Inuyasha still really didn't understand.

Kikyo was fuming as she jumped out of the pool and into Inuyasha. She pulled him down and straddled his hips. Before he could protest, her lips were crashing down on his and her hands pulling free his haori.

Inuyasha moved to push her off, but then, she started to move her body, slowly rocking over his lap. His body couldn't resist being aroused. A grin of triumph crossed her lips as he accidentally let out a soft moan.

"No! Stop it!" Inuyasha pushed her off him. She landed with a splash in the pool and sprayed water on him. Inuyasha jumped into a tree and put his shirt back on.

"INUYASHA! HOW DARE YOU! YOU COCKSUCKING BASTARD!" Kikyo screamed as she sputtered water out of her mouth. Inuyasha jumped onto the ground and trotted away. Hopefully they could leave before the dead miko could get dressed to join them. Curse words followed him as he left the forest into the clearing. "Inuyasha no baka! Baka! Woman hater!" Kikyo's howls made his ears flatten. Sango was covering Shippo's ears as she held him in her arms. The poor kit had been so depressed for the three weeks of travel that he was pale and ill by this time. The only way they got him to eat was to play the guilt card of him not being well enough for Kagome.

Inuyasha grabbed Kagome's bag and pulled it over his shoulder. "C'mon! We're leaving NOW!" He barked and moved to leave.

"What about Kikyo? Aren't we going to wait for her?" Sango asked, silently hoping the answer was no. Inuyasha growled his answer and kept walking.

"Good enough for me," Miroku muttered and picked up his things, followed by Sango they set out.

By the hot spring…

Kikyo felt Inuyasha's group hurrying away and she swore under her breath. Slowly she pulled on her miko haori as another presence made himself known.

"Seems you failed, Kikyo…" he muttered in a strong voice.

"Oh, come now, Beloved. The bastard is still wrapped around my pinkie. One act between you and I shall leave him without either miko women," Kikyo laughed as the man stepped from the shadows, casting down his white baboon hood and taking her in his arms.

"Seems you will be in heat very soon, beloved…" Naraku mumbled into her neck as he kissed her. "We could use that to our advantage…" Kikyo grinned as his lips burned acid into her skin.

"The fool will be forever in pain and turmoil."

To the west…

Kagome looked up, startled. Sesshoumaru's ears perked as he felt her movement. They had been sitting close on a bench in the garden, reading from a book to Rin. Sesshoumaru had tensioned next to her, causing Kagome to look up. She looked at his face and saw some red disappear from his eyes.

"Kagome…take Rin inside now." Sesshoumaru mumbled as he stood and moved to the palace. Kagome nodded and quickly took Rin by the hand and hurried into the house. Kagome shut Rin inside her room and told Jaken to watch it with his life, then hurried to find Sesshoumaru.

"Whaddya mean I can't see her?! I know you fucking have her, You bastard!" Kagome heard a familiar voice yell.

"You have to let us see her! For Shippo's sake!" Sango's voice rang through the hallway as Kagome hitched up her kimono and ran through the hallway.

"Sango? Shippo?" Kagome called as she turned the corner and skidded to a halt in front of Sesshoumaru and her friends in the doorway.

"MAMMA!" Shippo shouted, breaking free and running to her. Kagome fell to her knees and hugged the sick kitsuke to her chest as hard as she could, tears springing to her eyes. She missed her surrogate son more than she thought.

Sesshoumaru stiffened when he heard her voice, and mentally, he smiled at the reunion of the pup and his mother. It was something he really wanted in a mate…wait, what? Where did that come from? `Damn her..' Sesshoumaru hid his slight flame of anger. Inuyasha glanced to his half-brother sensing his change in attitude before it subsided.

Sango hurried to her friend's side and there was a massive group hug on the floor by Sesshoumaru's knees.

"I take it you will be leaving with them?" Sesshoumaru's voice broke the sister-like hug of the miko and youkai exterminator. They both stood, Shippo permanently attached to Kagome's shoulder and arms.

Kagome nodded, suddenly afraid to leave with them. She had grown so used to feeling safe in the youkai lord's palace with him around. Her mind was afraid to admit it, but she had fallen for him…a little… She swallowed her uneasiness.

"I'll say good-bye to Rin and leave the kimono on the bed…" Kagome murmured, suddenly not wanting to leave Rin either.

`Please…Stay…be the mother that Rin lost…Be my mate…' The inner voice in Sesshoumaru's mind cried out his deepest longing, but a sharp stab of pain in his palm made the voice disappear as his hand clenched a nail into his flesh. Inuyasha's nose was suddenly flooded with the smell of his brother's blood. Shock rose in his eyes as he watched his brother's stiff nod and then his form disappear from the hallway.

Kagome told them to wait a few minutes while she got her things and said goodbye to Rin.

Shippo hid under her hair, finally sleeping for the first time in the three weeks they'd have been searching for her.

She changed quickly and was tucking in her shirt when a knock came at her door. Before she could say anything, Sesshoumaru was in her room and shutting the door.

"Lord…"

"Stay for Rin?" He asked, a hidden longing in his voice.

"Ano…Sesshoumaru…I can't…gomenasai" pain crossed her face. This was unlike him…why would he be longing for a human to stay in his home? "I have an obligation to the Jewel Shards and my friends…"

"Will you come to visit her?" he asked after a few minutes of silence.

"Of course! I will come to visit her as often as I can spare it! I'll come to remember the garden as well…No wonder why your mother liked it so much…" His head shot up, looking at her.

"How do you know of her?"

"You put me in her room, did you not?" Kagome looked at the tapestry on the wall. "And if I am not mistaken, the little boy running in the same garden outside behind his beautiful mother is the same who keeps it the way his mother liked it."

Suddenly she was in an embrace. His arms wrapping her into his body as he held onto her. Kagome's arms wrapped around his waist as she hugged him back.

Sesshoumaru silently cursed his body as he felt her soft breath on his chest. He cursed her for understanding. He cursed his mother for meaning so much to him…but no…this was…familiar….right… As suddenly as it happened, it ended, and Kagome was wishing for his warmth again.

"Be sure to visit the gardens as well as Rin as soon as you can." With that, he left her in her room, her arms wrapped around herself.

"Sesshoumaru…"

Later…..

Inuyasha walked in front of the group as they neared the boundaries of the western lands. The sun was almost set, and the group decided to sleep in a clearing of giant oak trees. Inuyasha jumped into a tree as Kagome cooked up as much rammen that was left. Sango and Miroku sat next to her, listening to her tell of the month she spent at Sesshoumaru's.

"I can't believe you were there a month!" Sango said after she swallowed some of the food Kagome handed her. Kagome set the fourth bowl in front of Shippo, who was eating to make up for his sickness. Inuyasha was sitting next to the fire, between Kagome and Miroku.

"It really wasn't bad! Honest! The servants were really nice, and the kimonos were lovely." Kagome's eyes dazzled as she remembered the reaction she had gotten from Sesshoumaru earlier that week.

** Flashback **

Kagome pulled on the dark red silk kimono and stared at her reflection in the mirror. A beautiful goddess looked back at her. The kimono was a deep silk red with white dragons embroidered on the sleeves and up from the back right leg across her hips and up to rest on her left breast. It was skinny yet noticeable. She liked the bun her hair was pulled up into, and she smiled once before she left her room.

Sesshoumaru's jaw lost it's tight hinge when he saw her in the gardens. (He had been going over some business in the morning and missed breakfast).

He stared at this goddess gracefully moving amongst the flowers and smelling ones that were her favorite. She looked up and smiled at him as he quickly shut his mouth and put his mask back on.

Kagome saw emotion on his face before it disappeared, but she couldn't be sure of what it was…

** End Flashback **

Kagome smiled as she helped lay out the futons and laid in hers with the recovering Shippo in her arms. She loved being with them again…but then…She sat up and looked at the settling travelers. Miroku and Sango's futons were close, and Inuyasha was right above her. With a sigh, and a longing for her warm bed, she set herself in her futon and curled up with Shippo.

A few steps away in the forest….

Sesshoumaru sat on a high branch, watching Kagome talk with her friends. He had masked his scent and followed, not wanting to loose her just yet. `When was it that I fell in love with her?' He asked himself, waiting for the answer.

It came to him, not in words, but in a picture of her eyes. His mask cracked as he smiled. He loved her eyes, her smile, her purely good soul. He loved the way her body looked in the kimonos he had servants make for her. He loved the way she fit into his arms when he embraced her when she was leaving earlier that day…but when did he allow himself to realize it?

That day…. that day in the garden when she was in the red kimono. She lost all feel and smell and every aspect of being a human, she was just `Kagome'… She had made him realize she was the one he wanted to raise Rin with him, and to raise his heirs.

A soft growl left his throat as he saw Inuyasha hop down from his tree and sit by Kagome's side.

Back at the campsite…

"Kagome…Gomenasai…" Inuyasha apologized for waking her. She smiled and sat up.

"What is it, Inuyasha?" she asked softly.

"Gomenasai…for everything…for causing you so much pain…I...don't know why I did that. I…" he was stopped by her fingers on his cheek.

"Please…don't be upset over that…I'm all right, really. Inuyasha, I missed you guys so much," Kagome whispered. Inuyasha reached for her and held her in his arms, feeling her hands on his back.

"A...arigato…Kagome…" His grip tightened on her. `I never want to let you go, Kagome…I still have to tell you I love you…'

I might have a third one up soon as well…(a song fic) for maybe a different anime. And I'll be typing up a Rayearth fan fic from eons ago that I wrote, okay?!

Inuyasha's mouth clamped tightly down. `HOW COULD SHE?! HOW DARE SHE?!' His eyes turned red as he stared at the two figures in the meadow, their lips locked in a passionate kiss, one of his hands up her shirt. Her moan of pleasure increased his anger as he tore from his spying place and ran to attack that damned man.
