Chapter 5~Words of wisdom, and a smug hanyou

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha. But. Can I have Sesshoumaru for Christmas? ^_^

'...' Thinking

"..." Talking.

{...} My little add in.

Priestess: holy woman with special powers.

Hanyou: half demon.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~
A young priestess stood at the side of a noble hanyou. Weeping, crying, for the loss of her family. She always had been strong, through out the times of battle. From time to time she had seen pools of ruby blood. Or an innocent person being savagely ripped apart, whatever it was, she held her own. Witnessing many things, many vile acts committed before her very eyes. Rape, slaughter, contagious illnesses, whatever you name it. After witnessing many things, one would think she would be strong, and superior to so many things.
No.
No matter how hard she tried to resist pain, or grief she couldn't escape it. Loosing contact with her family was one of her worst fears, Inuyasha always said she was weak, and he was probably right this time, she decided.
Sighing, the young miko tugged at the sleeves of the hanyou's haori and cried into his chest, out of pure sorrow. Maybe she was weak, and uncertain of her life, and where she was headed. All she knew was this pain, and this anguish. 'Why am I clinging onto him like this? What is with me? I feel so, help less. Am I in complete stupor or what?' she thought.
He held her close, allowing his pride to sway this once, feeling it is strange to commit these actions. Although, he held some pity for her, he wouldn't let things sway between them. Nothing would change between them at all. That was something he would make sure of, if he could.
The girl gave a blink from her tears, as he pulled her into his arms. The only time she knew he had done this freely, was the fond memory that he willingly hugged her, before the bone gobbling well.
An astonishing thing had happened that time-he pulled her tightly into his arms from her very few words. Speaking that he had become horrified, at the thought of loosing her. At the mere fact that she would have died, if had messed up. Wildly, uncontrollably freaked out of loosing her to death. But after a little while after those faithful words, He just held her tightly. While herself, being totally stunned at his actions ... she realized that she liked how it felt. But after those drift of emotions, he pushed her away.
Like he often did.
She remembered that day.
Afterward, he shouted angrily at her, and with a forceful push on her shoulder, and gripped the almost complete shikon no tama in his hands; Saying that she didn't belong there--and after that, he pushed her forcefully into the well.
However. He had done this out of pure concern. He didn't want her to be there, anymore. Maybe that was proof enough, that he cared. Even if, it was the least bit at all.
Then again, she did not know much about their relationship. Only that they would good friends, and she wanted to say at his side as long as he needed her to be.
 "Kagome." He placed his hands on her shoulders, and parted her away from him.
 "Inuyasha. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." She frowned and her voice began to quiver from her actions, and felt guilt.
Boy, he hated when he messed up, it almost always ruined everything. " No. It's not that. I just want to you to know that I know you are being cut off from your world, and things are tough for you. Hell, I know you're a fragile wench. " Protecting his pride. She winced at his use of words, he continued in spite of this. " Listen to me, damn it. This may be difficult for you to be sealed off from your world, but you're not alone in this. Stay strong, that way you won't be so venerable; I'm here for you, like everyone else."
She looked up to him, taking in his words, with a smile of relief.  "Inuyasha. Thank you. I never thought you would comfort me like this."
He blushed and cocked his head to the side. "Feh! I didn't do anything!" his obvious cockiness (sorry if my spell check messes up. but it isn't what you think} ringed out even then, and made the schoolgirl giggle even more.
"I'm not making fun of you. Its just good that you can talk on regular terms with me, that's all," she explained, glancing up at his fluffy doggy ears, to confirm that it was all right.
Inu always seemed tense, and uptight. He wasn't used to the attention, of many people being around him. The way of an individual. Something he always was, never accepted. It was a pain he had always had to deal with, and he was used to it. Used to being mocked, along with being feared.
His head hanged down at her in confusion, she had accepted him, and this was something he had not anticipated. Kikyou might have accepted him, but he wasn't too sure on that part. With a greatness, he confided in Kikyou, and that bond would probably would never sever {Or probably rip him apart -_-} Kagome knew this. "Lets get going, wench." His firm grip released her, and she fell onto her butt.
A frown began decorating her face, and pushed her herself to a sitting position, smoothing out her skirt.
'Well, I guess. Ah, forget it. This is Inuyasha I'm talking about. He is right ... always right.' With sarcasm. she had herself convinced, that his judgment was correct, and all that other of such talk. She would get no where with debates about our hanyou.
Inuyasha stood up quickly from his cross legged position on the ground, looked at her with a somewhat soft expression. "Let's go, Kagome." After his sentence, he started to walk. Not in fast paces at all, mind you. It gave her the time she needed to catch up.
Kagome heaved herself up onto her feet, being careful as to balance her weight so that she would not stumble, and fall back down again. The girl was still surprised at the fact that her hanyou friend had just willingly embraced her in such a manner. His actions were somewhat random, and yet, it seemed not.
At this time of night, it was a mix of darkness and light. When they began their journey, she was very surprised to see the sky as oddly as it looked. His era was very different from the modern era, this caused a spasm of interest; She would have loved to explore an era such as this one. Before she has arrived to the Sengoku, she had no idea what to expect. She sure as hell knew nothing about a hanyou's or demons living during the feudal era. To top all of it off, she knew hardly anything about the shikon no tama.
He was content during their walk, and occasionally glanced back every once so often at her, to see if she was still walking behind him. "Almost there, Kagome. Try not to get lost. The trees tend to blur your vision."
"Right, I know Inuyasha. I'll stay right behind you, don't worry about me." She replied with a simple smile.
"Keh!! Right, and allow a youkai to have their chance at ya? No way in hell. Last time I let you out of my sight you ended up out here."
She stopped in her tracks and stood there for a minute. A smile tugged at her lips. It was different to see that he could make her smile at a few simple words. His words could have been taken as an insult, but that didn't happen. This was Inuyasha, his comfort had hid beneath his skin, and his words. Not many could view the good heart of the hanyou, it was deeply hidden under a thick wall.
"What now wench?" he gave an impatient growl, and stared at her strait in the eyes. His hands were folded into the sleeves of his haori, and his expression was hard to the core. 'Why in all the hells is she smiling?' Inuyasha wondered in disbelief. 'Hell, even for her that would be a fucking insult, and why is she looking at me like that! AH! STOP DOING THAT DAMMIT! STOPPPPPPPPP IT!' his mind screamed.
She flicked her raven hair to the back of her shoulders, and shook her head with no answer. "Forget it," her smile remained as she walked ahead of him in slow strides.
A snort triggered from the hanyou, he never received a strait answer from that woman, did he? Women were confusing, especially her. "Damned wench," he mumbled under his breath with frustration.
Luckily for him, she heard nothing of his voice. Whew, that was a close one. No more sits today.
In time the path ended. Inuyasha and Kagome had found the entire Yasha gang still retired for the night. Kagome's worst fears had not been realized {out of pure luck}. She was afraid that the entire gang would be awake, and would have to play twenty questions with the hanyou and the miko. Inuyasha would become angered and would had love to beat Shippou into a little bloody pulp; Along with one billion sits for trying.
"Night Kagome. Try to get some sleep this time, and stay put. I don't want to look for you again, thinking that some youkai captured you." He spoke with some enthusiasm to raise her spirits a bit. In the meantime, he jumped into a tree to make things more convient.
She walked over to another tree, and sat down against its trunk. "I'll try to get some sort of sleep this time. Goodnight and thank you. And no, I'm not wondering off. I'm staying right here," With a smile, her eyes closed, and her mind was still hard at work.
'I am Higurashi Kagome. I happen a tenth grader in high school, and I'm sixteen years old. One year ago, I was pulled through the bone eaters well, by the demon called Mistress Centipede. Later, I found Inuyasha pinned to the Goshinboku and released him after nearly being killed by mistress centipede. With his weakest attempts he managed to slay the demon on his own, which proved he lived up to his boasts. No kidding I honestly believed him once he starting chasing after me. I had the shikon no tama, and he wanted it at the time. He wasted no time in nearly killing me. To my relief Lady Kaede had transported a roserary around his neck. With the simple incantation of Sit I was instantly able to subdue the hanyou who threatened me. The shikon jewel ended up becoming shattered by myself, and we ended up going on a journey to collect the pieces; Along the way, we met Shippou-chan, Miroku-sama and Sango-chan..not only that but...enemas.'
She paused in mid sentence to frown, and brought her knees up to chin, and wrapped her arms around her opposite shoulders. 'Naraku has caused everyone pain. because of his own enjoyment to destroy others will not forgive him!'
Two amber eyes looked down from the treetops. ' Kagome must be cold. It certainly wouldn't be a stupendous event if she had caught a damn cold! What to do...Right. My fire rat jacket should help insulate her warmth into her body. That skirt aint enough to keep the breeze out and that. shirt, damn, forget it.'
She sighed and opened her eyes continuing her thought, unaware of Inuyasha eyes. 'Then. there is Kikyou. She isn't...a bad person. but what she asks of Inuyasha..is something that he does not have the choice over. Inuyasha deserves to live. he has a life to live for. Even with this fact. I hope Inuyasha is happy in the end, that's all I hope for. I just hope. his happiness isn't in hell. Naraku did deceive both of them... Inuyasha does. have the freedom to live on. I want him to live.' Suddenly, she felt weight add to her shoulders. His fire rat coat was hung around her shoulders, without thinking, she pulled it close to her small frame.
"If you are cold, say so. I don't need you catching a cold, that is the last thing all of us need, wench. Humans are so weak when it comes to illnesses. I'll admit, you have been resistant to many, but I'm not taking the chance of you becoming sick," Inuyasha sat next to her, and rested Tessaiga against his opposite thigh that was away from her.
She glanced lazily at him at first, and then her eyes shot back into reality. "I'm fin-I mean, thank you Inuyasha. Wait. Wait..you worried over a little thing like that?" Her expression changed to an amused one--and then completely changed to a.. confused expression? O. o;;
"Feh," he muttered to himself while looking at her. "Damn it. Why do you bother asking? If you catch a cold it will be difficult to get rid of it. The healers in your time could rid of it easily. In this era ... it wouldn't be an easy trip. So, I can't afford you getting sick on me. I have no idea.. how you can remain cheerful as you do."
Kagome took a quick peek at him, smiling. Whatever he said. she always seemed to have the answer to his questions. No one would guess that moments ago, she was was on the verge of breaking apart from the world they were in. This Inu hanyou gave her courage, no matter what situation. He didn't knew this himself ... that is why he asked; It wasn't just because of him, it was her kind spirit. " I always think there is always a bright side to whatever the predicament may be, even if it may seem hopeless and I always believe that you will succeed, if you try." The last of her strength was used as she finished her sentence, and she leaned to the left, were Inuyasha happened to be.
He gazed at her, taking a few moments to realize what she had done, his face becoming flushed in the process of the realization. His ears twitched back and forth nervously, he wasn't used to their being close like this before. Sure. they had been before. But he had not focused on it much; 'Damn. I'm getting soft ... why is she doing this? Why must she lean on me?' These were one of his moments were he was a total clueless dolt. <b>(I call those moments IY moments ^_^),<b> His thoughts were cut off by that little voice he had sometimes, and it told it told him to shut up.
<i>A couple of eyes watched the duo; Both of them smirked at the scene they were witnessing before them. {I bet your wondering who these people are, ne? Heh, I think you can take a guess. Come on. guess! Allright, I'll tell ya. Sango and Miroku.. kind of obvious; You were stupid if you didn't know that... *clears throat* Allright, nevermind. }
Dun, dun, dun! A dog ear protruded to the left of Miroku and Sango. Inuyasha was suspicious of them both watching. if they were, that is. As soon as he got the chance he would pulverize them...and bonk them. and. Dog boy, pay attention!
As his dog ears twitched at the thoughts of what he could do to them, Kagome was slipping from his shoulder. With quick haste, he placed an arm around her shoulders, an as result, her head tilted back, and her voice whimpered in protest. Quickly, a clawed hand hand supported the back part of her head.
"Whew..That was close. I don't need that wench waking up, and play a game of questions," he said to himself.
For a long time. Things seemed quiet, and this gave him time to reflect a bit.
Once, he saw traveling around with humans a weak action for someone such as himself. A small portion of his life he viewed humans, and scum. They were what made him different...that was his reason for hating them. His lonely childhood led into the hate, and not once, had he trusted any of them.
They were lowly creatures that need to be destroyed, because they stupid, annoying, creatures. They caused death, pain, war, famine to occur in this world; and he led a life of resentment towards them.
There was one human who he trusted.
Kikyou.
He had secede trust in her, however, at first that trust was something he couldn't rely on too much.
In time, he had fallen in love with her. Thus, it could have been his undoing. Then. didn't believe that fact at all.
In the end, he was ended up being pinned to the tree by her, both of them had been deceived by the deviant hanyou, Naraku; The Shikon No Tama was the cause of their betrayal.
*~Flashback~*
"Sis! The wound!"
"My inexperience. This is the cause. All this because of this Shikon No Tama..."
"Sis! Quickly, we need to treat-."
"It's too late already; So, listen carefully, Kaede; This... This Shikon no Tama, burn it with my remains." Kikyou's voice began to quiver, trying to hold onto life, a little longer. "So that it shall never fall into evil hands again." With that, Kikyou's grip on her life was lost; and fell onto the ground.
"Sis!"
*~End of Flashback~*
That was the end of his beloved. He was pinned to the tree for five decades.
On the faithful day that marked the fifty years...
*~Flashback of Kagome's Arrival~*
"Can I survive? " The girl continues to run on the path, gasping for air. "Grandpa, Mama, save me!. Please someone.. Anybody help!!"
The spell that was put on me, slowly faded away; Because of Kagome's presence. My sharp claws were freed of the Goshinboku finally; "I can smell it! I smell the girl who killed me! She is coming closer!" I reach up to pull the cursed arrow out of my shoulder, that pinned me to this very tree. "Darn it! " the arrow burned me, causing me pain.
Kagome was still chased by the centipede demon, and struggled up a path to save her very life. "Hand over the Shikon no Tama!"
"I don't have such a thing!" she trips, doing several front flips over; and slides right in front me.
"That hurts!"
I looked down, with a smirk. "Hey, Kikyou! What are you doing with that wimpy centipede?"
"eh?" she looks at me, dumbfounded.'Did he speak just now?'
"Your alive?" So, she speaks her thoughts!
"Settle this with a single blow, Kikyou." The stupid smirk was still pasted on my face. How the hell could I not see she was not Kikyou?! "Just like when you killed me."
She is just sits there, right in front of me; At the time.. she didn't know who Kikyou was. Gods, I was such a fool!
"Huh? Why are you looking at me with that silly face, Kikyou?" I pause, her expression didn't change at all. "Have you lost your powers, Kikyou-sama?"
She stands up.
It appeared she was realizing her true self. I was such an idiot. treating her poorly; Though...
That girl had a temper.
One that could scare ANY youkai.
Scared me. I didn't show it.
"Wait. Kikyou? What do you mean Kikyou?"" she places a hand over her heart, telling me who she was. "I am going to tell you that my name is... " her sentence it cut off, by me.
"It comes."
Hence, the ugly creature appeared, nearly pinning her to the ground as I predicted; Several arrows casted into it's side, along with ropes tied to pull it back away from her. This was the work of the villagers. I could smell their sickening scents.
"Heh, what a disgrace, Kikyou."
Gods, could I push her buttons or what? NOW. she was pissed.
"Why you!" she stands up with a huff. "Don't make a mistake! I am not Kikyou, as I told you before!" she walked up the roots of the Goshinboku, determined for me to get her name right.
"Don't be pretentious! No other girl smells this crappy except you!" I stopped to sniff her, nope, she was not Kikyou. " Huh? You are ... not Kikyou." Dammit! I still didn't see. what was fu*king obvious from the start!
She blinks, and looks up at me with an irritated expression. "See! My name is Kagome. Ka..go..me."
I would NEVER make that mistake again;
I don't know how I ever made the mistake.
Kagome and Kikyou were two different people. Kagome was unique, as was Kikyou;
I was wrong that time. Recarnation or not.
Kagome was Kagome, and she would always be.
I would always protect her.
Until the time I choose between them. She will remain with me.
And until that time. I still do not know who I'll choose.
Do I even care for her that much after these times?
Maybe.
I don't know at all;
*~End of flashback~*
The sun was peaking over the horizon by the time he finished his thoughts; flashbacks, and so on.
Inuyasha set Kagome against a tree, and sat up to put the fire out.
"Inuyasha." Said a voice.
"Yeah, what the hell do you want, bouzo?"
"Why was Kagome so close to you last night?"
Inuyasha growled and crossed his arms. "Keh! She was tired and.........I'm not explaining anything to you, houshi-baka. When your hand doesn't reach a woman's ass, your mind travels there instead."
"Why Inuyasha, I didn't know you thought of me so harshly!" Miroku said, faking surprise.
"Feh."
"Inuyasha." Sango said, getting the hanyou's attention. "Kagome. She's gone!"
Shippou was immediately awake, along with Kirara; "What?!"
"Shippou, Kagome-sama has been kidnapped!" Miroku said, standing up quickly.
Kirara immediately transformed. "Lets go, Kir-" Sango had no time to finish her sentence for the hanyou had cut in.
"I don't know why I didn't smell the scent before..but... I know it must reek of Naraku."
"How so, Inuyasha?" Asked Shippou.
Miroku quirked his eye brows, and Sango sweatdropped.
"Dammit! I have this feeling in my gutt- I know its gotta be him!" Inuyasha took off at top speed, with haste.
"Wait! Stop Inuyasha!" Sango called out. "We don't have any leads!"
"Lets catch up with him, Sango-sama." Miroku said calmly, referring to Kirara.
"Hai!" she agreed, and both of them got on Kirara's back, along with Shippou.
Inuyasha was quick to unsheathe Tessaiga in his run. "Naraku. I WILL TEAR YOU A PART!" Inuyasha yelled, feeling himself loose control.. could it be to his youkai blood?,<i>
Inuyasha_Kagome4ever: Okay. You know what? Inuyasha SOMETIMES calls Kagome a bitch in the Japanese version, and the manga; If you cannot handle the character of Inuyasha, I suggest you quit watching the show. Although.. I got a huge laugh out of your review, cause you seemed uncoordinated! Mwhahaha! Sorry, couldn't keep that it! It just makes me laugh.. seeing as you have such a pathetic reason to flame me (Is that what it is?); Also, this is going to turn into a romance fic, so don't get your panties in a bunch, human. ~_~ Anyhow, any more complaints, review me again; I would love to hear it, seeing as if you don't know a lot about the series. And about the language of Japanese, Number one: Their IS a Japanese version, and I'm used to speaking it, and- a lot of writers use some the words of Japanese; Probably about 80% of the ff.net (and mm.org) authors. Though, I encourage you to review again, and you will only be bashed ^_^ And if you want lessons about the Japanese the language, feel free to ask me. And my English is perfectly fine; Your review encourages me to write much more, thanks. And I'm just being in character, to explain more. Allright then.
By the way--I didn't consider that a flame; It noo reason to it, kinda sad, ne? Also, please read all of the story before criticizing.
