InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ A New Sibling ❯ Miso Soup...! ( Chapter 26 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Chapter 26, eh? I'm planning on updated all three stories today! Hurray!

I'm gonna leave the quote off of this chapter, and be forewarned. Sesshoumaru and Suzuka are going to act like total jerks some in this chapter because they're family.

On with the chapter!

*Kitchen*

InuYasha walked in, following the delectable scents coming from inside. He paused and looked at Ayumu, cooking something in a large pot. She grabbed a wooden spoon from beside her and began stirring as she tossed in various ingredients.

"Hello, InuYasha," she said without looking back.

InuYasha cringed at her cold tone and walked up to her, peering into the pot and seeing a very delicious looking soup.

"Hi…um, what're you cooking," he asked cautiously.

"Miso soup," she answered.

InuYasha nodded then turned to leave.

"InuYasha," Ayumu began, "it is almost ready. Please wait for me in the dining room."

InuYasha nodded again then headed to the dining room.

*Dining Room*

About fifteen minutes after InuYasha made it to the dining room, Kagome, Sango, Shippo, Kelala, and Miroku each sauntered in at different times. Each asking, "what're you waiting for".

Every time the answer was "miso soup" and the questioner joined in and sat down with the rest of them.

Soon, Ayumu walked through the door with a large bowl of steaming soup. She followed her nose to InuYasha and was about to give it to him when Sesshoumaru and Suzuka walked in.

They looked from Ayumu to the bowl then to InuYasha and back to Ayumu again.

"What are you doing, sister," Sesshoumaru asked suspiciously.

"Giving InuYasha soup, why," she countered.

"Exactly how are you `giving' it to him," Suzuka questioned.

Still without looking up, Ayumu smirked, reminding InuYasha what the soup was for. "InuYasha should not cuss. It is very unbecoming of anyone," she said as she lowered the bowl a little closer to InuYasha's lap.

"Hold up," Suzuka said.

"Why," Ayumu asked, looking more than a little confused.

Suzuka nodded at Sesshoumaru and - in unison - they said, "You have no right to punish InuYasha." They crossed their arms in front of their chests. "You cussed yourself, Ayumu."

Ayumu looked up and toward their voices. "When," she asked, clearly outraged.

"You," they continued in unison, "beat the living daylights out of Naraku's head while saying - and we quote - `why won't you just fucking die, bastard'."

She stared at them, astonished. "But I - he - what - why would you bother to remember something like that!?"

"Because," Sesshoumaru said, taking a step closer to her, "you are so inclined to punish those that cuss, but you lost control over your own mouth."

Suzuka walked up to her, taking the bowl from her hands. "Besides, you were worse than InuYasha. So, if this is to be poured on anyone, it should be you."

Sesshoumaru walked next to her, both smirking evilly. "We still have scarred from your `punishments'."

Ayumu tested their scents. <Holy sh -- ! They're not kidding!> She quickly took off toward the door, using her demon senses to "see" the obstacles in front of her. <Thank you, Mother, for the powers…> She phased through a few wall then tried to turn a corner, but was going too fast and had to bounce off of the wall to her left so she wouldn't run into the wall.

Sesshoumaru and Suzuka quickly followed her, leaving the humans and Shippo laughing their heads off.

*In Ayumu's bed chamber*

Kuzume sat next to her on the bed, wrapping bandages around Ayumu's stomach.

She let out a soft giggle, attracting Ayumu's attention away from her own thoughts.

"What's so funny," Ayumu huffed.

Kuzume waved the question off, resuming her bandaging of Ayumu's burned side. She soon broke down into a giggling fit.

Ayumu's eyes widened and she looked toward Kuzume, listening to the sound of fabric rustling around. <She's rolling around on her sides…>

"Would you stop that and tell me what's so funny," Ayumu demanded.

Kuzume slowly took control of herself again. "It was hilarious, watching you run down the hallway on all fours, being chased by those two," she said in between her half-way controlled giggles. No sooner had she finished than her giggles burst forth once more.

Ayumu let out a defeated sigh and finished wrapping her sides herself.

After Kuzume was done laughing at her, she reached over and thwacked her head.

"Ow," Kuzume exclaimed, holding the side of her head where Ayumu hit her, "what was that for?!"

Ayumu let out a low chuckle herself, answering, "for laughing at me…"

Both girls burst out into laughing fits.

Later in Ayumu's room, Kagome came to visit her.

"So, what was that miraculous cure that Sesshoumaru told me you had," Ayumu asked as Kagome closed the door.

Kagome looked at her questioningly before realizing what she meant. "Okay, here's the 4-1-1:" Ayumu raised her eyebrow in confusion, but it went unnoticed by Kagome. "I'm not from this era. I use the bone-eater well near Ooyami Village to travel back to my time."

"And that would be," Ayumu prompted.

"My time is about 550 years in the future."

Ayumu nodded, clearly still a little confused, but kept quiet.

"In my time, there are doctors that can look you over and give you surgery."

"What makes you think that anything they do will work," Ayumu questioned. "Kuzume said that she already did everything that even had a remote chance of working."

"Yes," Kagome assured her, "but my technology is advanced. It's not a sure-fire thing, but it has a better chance of working than sorcery and magic."

"Very well, how do we get to your time?"

"Well, as far as I know, only InuYasha and I can pass through the well. But, I think I might know the reason."

Kagome got up to leave. "We'll all take a break for a few days then we'll see if my idea works."

Ayumu nodded slowly, slowing from exhaustion.

"Good night, Ayumu," Kagome said as she moved to close the door.

"Good night, Miss Kagome," Ayumu answered.

Okay, there's chapter 26. I hope you enjoyed even though it was unbelievably short. I'm going to work on chapter 16 of Masaharu Girls, then chapter 3 (?) of Fallen Angel.

Happy Haunting,
