Chapter 18

(The chapter starts back in time with Kagome and Inu-Yasha, after Richard and Sarah leave for the past)

Kagome giggled as she watched the two dragons enter the well house. Richard and Sarah really reminded her a lot of Inu-Yasha and herself. She sighed and yawned again as the two dragon's auras faded and then disappeared all together. Before she could start heading back into the house to head back to her bed, she felt two strong arms lift her up. “Inu-Yasha, what are you doing?” She exclaimed as she was lifted completely into the hanyo's arms. He jumped and before she knew it, she was back in her room sitting on her bed.
“I thought it would be faster if I carried you into your room. You can be so slow,” he stated as he sat on the windowsill.
Kagome sighed and rolled her eyes, sometimes Inu-Yasha surprised her. “Whatever Inu-Yasha, good night,” she was about to crawl back under the covers when an arm snaked around her waist. She gasped and looked over her shoulder to see Inu-Yasha's face incredibly close to hers. “What are you doing?” She whispered softly.
Inu-Yasha said nothing as he leaned closer to Kagome. He inhaled silently, taking in her wonderful spicy scent. He pulled her close to him, holding her against his chest. `Now,' he thought `I should tell her now.'
`My god, what is Inu-Yasha doing?' Kagome wondered as a blush spread across her cheeks. She felt comfortable being held by Inu-Yasha, but the way he was acting made her feel a little too uncomfortable. “Inu-Yasha?”
“hmm?” Inu-Yasha murmured as he nuzzled Kagome's neck. `I wonder what her skin tastes like,' he thought idly. He flicked his tongue out and gently licked Kagome's neck.
Kagome gasped and squirmed slightly in Inu-Yasha's grasp. “Inu-Yasha what are you doing?!” She demanded softly, her voice failing her slightly as she felt Inu-Yasha nuzzle and then lick her neck.
“Something I should have done a long time ago Kagome,” he whispered as he turned her around gently in his arms. He held her chin for a moment and then hesitantly kissed her softly on her lips, his hand nervously sliding under her shirt.
Kagome's eyes widened in shock and surprise before closing partially. Her arms lifted and wrapped around Inu-Yasha's neck, pulling him deeper into the kiss he had started.
Inu-Yasha rejoiced mentally. He was kissing the woman of his dreams and she wasn't fighting him, slapping him, or sitting him! If he hadn't been kissing her, he would have been performing a victory dance. He nipped gently at her lower lip as his claws skimmed over her braw. One of his claws curled around the middle of her braw and it started to cut through when Kagome pulled away slightly.
“Inu-Yasha! What are you doing?” She asked in a mere whisper. She covered her chest with her hands as his withdrew. She shivered as the glazed look in his eyes faded.
“Kagome, I…” He hesitated. He wasn't that great with words, just actions. He stepped away from her and towards the window, turning his back to Kagome. His shoulders slumped as he whispered the next words. “Kagome. I love you.”
Kagome barely heard his words, but she still heard them all the same. “Inu-Yasha,” She murmured his name and reached out to touch his arm. “Do you really mean that?”
Inu-Yasha spun around and resisted the urge to grab her shoulders and shake her. Why would he lie to her about something so serious? “I mean it Kagome. I've loved you for so long now. I…I was afraid to ever tell you how I really felt,” He was afraid she would leave him; abandon him like many others in this world already had done.
Kagome stood there, speechless for a few minutes until his words finally sunk straight into her heart. “What about Kikyo? You've been sneaking off to see her as much as you can.”
Inu-Yasha felt an irritated sigh escaped his lips. “Only because of the promise I made before she died. I promised to protect her, and I will. But she's not the one I love. I don't think I even truly loved her when she was alive.” Inu-Yasha hung his head, his thoughts and feelings for the past Kikyo rising up. “You have to understand Kagome, Kikyo was one of the first people after my mother to accept me. Sure she wanted to have me wish to become a human, but she didn't shun me like the others,” His words were forced from his lips. It hurt to think of the Kikyo he had known, the Kikyo before she had died.
Kagome felt and saw the hurt that flitted across Inu-Yasha's face as he spoke and thought about Kikyo. “Inu-Yasha…” She didn't know what to say to make him feel better, and before she had the chance he was out the window and out of her line of sight.

Inu-Yasha jumped a couple times until he was in Goshinboku, the one place he could really calm down. `It all started and ended here,' he thought to himself as he pressed a hand behind him against the trunk of the tree. His leg dangled over the edge of the tree branch and his eyes closed gently. He felt the wind sweep across his features, shifting his hair as it did so. The smell of the modern time filtered through his senses and his nose wrinkled slightly. The smell wasn't horrible, but it just wasn't the same as the smells he was used too.
He sighed and opened his mind to his memories.

*Flash back*

Inu-Yasha was watching her, the protector of the shikon no tama. He growled softly, he had been watching her for some time now. If only he could get that jewel he would be able to wish himself to become a full demon. That way, he would be accepted and he would be strong. No one, not even his brother would be argue about his right to his inheritance left to him by his late father.
“I know you are there. Inu-Yasha,” Kikyo said as she stood with her back towards the tree he was hiding in.
Inu-Yasha winced but didn't say or do anything. He wouldn't give himself up that easily. She probably felt that he was in the tree, but not the exact position.
Kikyo sighed softly. “I also know you have been fighting off lesser demons. You have protected my village in your own way. Thank you,” She started her way back to her village.
Inu-Yasha sat stunned in the Goshinboku for some time. She was right, he had been killing lesser demons to keep them away from the Miko's village, but that was because he wanted the shikon no tama for himself. What he hadn't expected was for her to thank him for what he had been doing. No one besides his mother had ever thanked him for anything. He leaned back against the tree, deep in his thoughts.
Kikyo glanced back at the Goshinboku where she knew Inu-Yasha was, and smiled a sad small smile.

*End Flash back*

Inu-Yasha sighed and lifted his hand away from the trunk of Goshinboku. That had been the first time Kikyo had ever said anything to him. She hadn't attacked him, she hadn't ordered him away from the village, just thanked him. That had also been the first small kindness he had received since his mother. He started to really think. Kikyo had been kind to him, as much as she really could be, but she had been raised in a time that hated demons and half-demons.
`Compared to Kagome, Kikyo really wasn't that kind to me at all,' he thought as he looked towards the dark window of Kagome's room. Since they had first met Kagome had shown him more kindness then Kikyo had. Sure Kagome could get angry, but privately, he liked seeing her eyes light up when she was mad. It gave her a wild beauty. He didn't like the after effects all that well though. She had given him treats that she didn't have to give him, she smiled a heck of a lot more then Kikyo ever did, and she never asked or suggested he use the jewel to become human. `I don't think I could live as a human,' he admitted to himself sadly. `How would I protect Kagome then? I would be too weak.'
Inu-Yasha sighed softly and fell into a light slumber. That was one thing he could do comfortably in this time, he could sleep without fear of being attacked.

Kagome flipped off her lights after a few minutes and crawled into her bed. She sort of wished Inu-Yasha would return to cuddle with her. Her cheeks light up with a rosy glow at that thought. She couldn't believe it; Inu-Yasha loved her and not Kikyo! She had loved him for the longest of times, but had never said anything because she had thought he was still mourning Kikyo's first death. He had never known that Kikyo had died right after she had sealed him to Goshinboku. When he had reawakened, Kagome was sure the death of Kikyo had hurt him terribly. `It had only been a day for him, but 50 years had passed.'
These were the thoughts that Kagome fell asleep too. Her dreams were full of the day she had first laid eyes on Inu-Yasha.

“Breakfast Inu-Yasha,” Mrs. Higurashi's voice yelled from a little ways from Goshinboku, making Inu-Yasha jump and nearly fall out of the tree. His heart hammered and he wondered for the hundredth time how Mrs. Higurashi could yell so loud. His thoughts tapered off when the drool inducing smell of Kagome's mothers fabulous cooking wafted up to his senses. He grinned deliriously and jumped from the tree. He hadn't at first known where Kagome had learned how to cook until he had first visited Kagome and tasted Mrs. Higurashi's cooking.
He sped into the kitchen and took his usual seat, sitting like he always did, feet and hands on the edge of the chair like how a dog would sit.
Mrs. Higurashi smiled as she walked back into the dining room; she had just gone to wake up Sota and Kagome a moment ago. “Did you sleep well Inu-Yasha?” She asked nicely as she went into the kitchen to grab the last of the food.
Inu-Yasha nodded and started scooping food onto his plate. He had learned from all the times he had visited not to actually start eating until the others got to the table, but he could at least fill his plate before the others.
Mrs. Higurashi smiled sweetly to Inu-Yasha. `Poor boy, before Kagome I bet he had never had a decent meal.' She thought sadly to herself. From what Kagome had told her about Inu-Yasha's past, and what she could figure out on her own, Inu-Yasha had never had a nice life. Food must have been something hard to come by.
Kagome yawned as she walked into the dining room and then blushed crimson when she saw Inu-Yasha already sitting at the table. She took her seat and dished out her own food. `It's Saturday,' her mind told her suddenly and she grinned. Her homework was done already and she wanted to do something today before she and Inu-Yasha had to go back. “Inu-Yasha…I was wondering if I could stay home for a few days,” she asked hesitantly. If he was still in the mood he was in last night, then maybe he would stay with her.
Inu-Yasha nodded and twitched impatiently as he glared down at his food. He wanted to eat NOW.
Kagome grinned and then hesitated. Maybe she could take Inu-Yasha on a trip around Tokyo? “I was also wondering if you wanted to go to the park with me today,” Might as well start somewhere and the park was fairly close. She thought with the open space and with all the trees, Inu-Yasha might be a little more comfortable there.
Inu-Yasha looked at Kagome in surprise. The only time she had ever let him travel around her hometown was when she was being attacked by that mask demon. “You mean that Kagome?” He asked softly, Mrs. Higurashi was conveniently hurrying up the stairs to get Sota and Kagome's jii-chan.
Kagome nodded with a blush, she suddenly had a funny vision of them going to the park, but Inu-Yasha was in a dog collar and she was holding the leash. “Yeah, I mean it. It would be fun,” she thought, trying to push the image of her and Inu-Yasha out of her head.
Inu-Yasha grinned and started eating his food, Sota had just appeared yawning at the door of the dinning room. He scarfed down his food, the sooner he got done eating the sooner they could get going. He was excited about seeing Kagome's world from a safer point of view.
Kagome giggled and ate a little slower them Inu-Yasha. She still had to take a shower and get dressed; she was still in her pajamas. She giggled against as Inu-Yasha finished and rushed towards the living room to wait for her. She rolled her eyes and looked at what food she had left, giving up and just going up to her room. She didn't have that much food left anyway and she knew Inu-Yasha was excited to be going. `Have I really been keeping him from my time that much?' she wondered to herself as she picked out a pair of jeans and a light pink summer shirt. `That'll work,' she thought as she carried her clothes and a towel to the bathroom to take hers shower.

Inu-Yasha waited impatiently for Kagome. It had only been a few minutes after he had finished when Sota walked in and offered to play one of his “video games” with him. Sota had showed him how the work the controllers a few months earlier and he could navigate the controls fairly easily now.
That was how Kagome found Inu-Yasha, playing some sort of combat game with Sota. “You want to go or not Inu-Yasha?” she asked teasingly as she grabbed made sure her house keys and some money was in her purse.
“Sure one minute!” Inu-Yasha said, a little preoccupied with the game. “Let me beat this whelp!” he said as he and Sota continued to go at it.
Kagome rolled her eyes and went to the kitchen to tell her mother what they would be doing and when to expect them to get back. “Momma?” She said looking around for her mother.
“Out here dear,” Mrs. Higurashi said from outside.
Kagome walked out the kitchen door and spotted her mom sweeping the porch. “Momma, I'm going to show Inu-Yasha around town for a bit. We should be home by dinner,” she said with a smile.
“Nonsense. You and Inu-Yasha have reservations at Kakure Ro-Tasu,” Mrs. Higurashi said with a mischievous smile. She had heard what her daughter had asked Inu-Yasha, and well, she figured it was time for Inu-Yasha and Kagome to actually take things seriously. So, she had made reservations at the “hidden lotus” restaurant and had given them her credit card number so the bill would already be paid for.
Kagome gasped and had to grab the wall. “Momma! How…that's…” she couldn't find the right words. The Kakure Ro-Tasu was one of the more expensive restaurants in Tokyo.
“Oh, and here is my credit card. You and Inu-Yasha will have to look nice and Inu-Yasha doesn't really have modern clothes,” Mrs. Higurashi added handing her daughter her credit card.
Kagome took the card, to stunned to ask questions or to argue. “Okay…but how will we get there?” She asked stupidly, her mind doing a mental explosion.
Mrs. Higurashi smiled. “Be home by 5:30 and you'll find out,” She said gently and then turned her daughter around. “You and Inu-Yasha have a fun day. Be home early so you two can get changed and get ready.”
Kagome nodded and headed out, calling for Inu-Yasha as she did so. `Why would momma do this?' she thought to herself.
Mrs. Higurashi snickered softly, very softly. Her room was right next to Kagome's, so when the two of them had gotten up in the dead of last night, she had gotten up to ease drop. She blushed slightly. She knew she shouldn't have, but as a mother it was her right. `And besides, those two have been circling each other for far to long.'

Inu-Yasha pulled himself away from the game a little upset when Kagome called for him, Sota had beaten him and Inu-Yasha was thinking violent thoughts about destroying the controller and game system.
Kagome smiled, still stunned from what her mother had done. “Ready to go Inu-Yasha?” she asked sweetly. After the park she would have to take him to a formal clothes store to get him something nice, because his hitoe and hakama aren't really worn in this day and age.
Inu-Yasha nodded and followed Kagome out, pulling on the baseball cap that Kagome always shoved into his hands. He disliked the feeling of the cap covering his ears, but he understood why Kagome had him wear it. He sighed silently and slipped his hands into the sleeves of his hitoe, ignoring the stares of other people so early in the morning. “Where are we going Kagome?” He asked as he trudged along beside the modern girl. He frowned slightly at how much her shirt was showing off.
“I told you, we're going to the park. After that I thought we could go and do a little shopping,” She said hurriedly, not sure how Inu-Yasha would react to the idea of shopping.
Inu-Yasha, never having shopped in modern times, nodded and followed Kagome as she crossed the street and headed towards a walled off area. He sniffed the ear and underneath the baseball cap his ears twitched. He could smell trees, lots of trees, and flowers, and things that he normally didn't smell when he visited this time. He hesitated right outside the gate of the walled off area.
Kagome giggled and grabbed his hand to pull him in. Luckily, this park was free. She knew of some really nice parks that had admittance costs. “I thought you might the park. It's really clean and it's really quiet in the mornings,” She told him in a hushed tone. Whenever she visited the park she always had this sense of peaceful calmness, she never felt like talking very loudly here.
Inu-Yasha nodded as the beauty of the park surrounded him. Everything was clean, there were small animals skittering here and there, elderly people were either exercising or just taking walks, there were no small children yet, and he really did like it here.
Neither Inu-Yasha nor Kagome knew how long they took to walk around the entire park. They were just enjoying each other's company to the fullest extent. At around noon, around 3 hours after they arrived Kagome finally noticed the time. By then she was sitting on one of the park benches watching Inu-Yasha investigate the playground. Kagome sighed and walked over to Inu-Yasha, who was playing on the jungle gym, to tell him they better go.
“This is great Kagome! You should try this,” He yelled, swinging all over the place like a giant red and white monkey.
Kagome laughed and shook her head. “We need to get going Inu-Yasha. Shopping might take awhile,” especially since they were going to a major shopping mall district.
Inu-Yasha hung on one of the bars with one hand. “Do we have too?” He asked with big puppies eyes. Kagome swore if his ears were uncovered, they would be flattened against his hair.
Kagome nodded. “Yeah, we have too, but maybe we could come back some other time,” she promised him.
Inu-Yasha gave her a smile and dropped from the bar he had still been hanging from. “Alright, lets go get your shopping done…as long as we can get some ramen,” he added in the serious tone he used whenever talking about he beloved ramen.
Kagome rolled her eyes and nodded. She thought she remembered a ramen shop at the mall, or something similar to it. “Sure, we'll get some for lunch. Now lets go!” She said excitedly. She couldn't wait to find out how Inu-Yasha looked in modern clothes.

“Kagome, I don't like this place,” Inu-Yasha murmured as too many people crowded past him going both ways. His hands were in his hitoe again and his eyes were shifting this way and that.
Kagome bit her lip. If she had known the mall was going to be this bad on a Saturday at noon, she would have suggested they go sooner. “I'm sorry Inu-Yasha, I should have remembered the mall could get this loud,” She said soothingly. She gently grasped his arm as she led him to one of the Men's Designer Clothes Departments. “It should be quieter in there,” she promised as they entered the shop. She was right, it was perceptibly quieter and she could feel Inu-Yasha relax.
Inu-Yasha feh'd and then looked around the clothes. “Kagome…when you said shopping, did you mean for me?” He said, his nose wrinkling as he looked at the closest selection of clothes.
Kagome looked where he was looking and giggled. He was looking at tuxedoes, she didn't think the restaurant would be that fancy. “We don't have to get those kinds of clothes. Come on, lets get some one to help,” She said as they walked over to one of the sales clerks.
“Hello! Welcome to Raffaello's, how may I be of assistance?” the lady asked in a pleasant voice. She looked at Kagome and then Inu-Yasha with an appraising glance. She eyed his clothes and Kagome could almost see the question of “what fabric is that” run through her mind.
“We need a few outfits for my boyfriend,” Kagome said quickly, not liking the flirtatious look the sales lady was giving Inu-Yasha.
Inu-Yasha looked at Kagome startled for a second and then grinned slightly.
The lady's eyes sharpened and she quickly got out of flirt mode and pulled Inu-Yasha towards the dressing rooms. “Is there anything in particular that you want?” she asked as she started having Inu-Yasha remove his hitoe and hakama. Inu-Yasha did so, hesitantly.
The lady's eyes brows quirked at the look of Inu-Yasha's clothes; who wore such old fashion clothes now a days? But she didn't say anything, she was taught not to do so; the customer was always right.
“Evening wear, something a little loose and maybe in dark reds and blacks,” Kagome said knowing Inu-Yasha wouldn't know what to ask for.
The lady looked at Kagome for a moment and then nodded. She left to go and find some of what Kagome asked for. She came back with a red Burberry shirt in a couple sizes, a crimson Calvin Klein polo shirt, a red Dsquared2 hooded sweater, and a variety of shirts and jackets. “I thought we could start with shirts first and go on from there,” She said as she gently set the clothes down on a table next to the dressing room where Inu-Yasha was standing. “Go ahead and pick out ones that you like and try them on,” she said as she headed towards the door were another customer had just walked in.
“Kagome…” Inu-Yasha whispered for assistance
Kagome picked up the first shirt, “Take off the top of your kosode and put the shirt on. Modern shirts don't require undershirts,” She mumbled as she found a nice lighter red jacket to go over the crimson, nearly black shirt. “Here, try these on.” She murmured.
Inu-Yasha nodded and closed the dressing room door behind him as tried on the clothes. He didn't bother messing with the metal contraption on the jacket. He stepped out of the dressing room and looked at Kagome, his hands in the pockets of the jacket.
Kagome blushed slightly, the shirt and jacket weren't exactly like his hitoe, but they looked nice on him, it must have been because they were red. “Nice…I like it,” She mumbled. They looked nice enough for semi-formal wear.
“Now that is a nice combination,” the sales lady said when she returned. “You can look through the rest while I get some pants. I'll need to take your measurements though,” She said pulling out a measuring tape and quickly, before Inu-Yasha could argue, wrapped it around his hips and waist. “Alright, be right back,” She said in a singsong voice.
Inu-Yasha growled softly as he watched her go. He started to pull off the shirts and jacket but Kagome stopped him. “Best leave them on. You'll need to see how they look with pants.”
Inu-Yasha mumbled and they waited for the lady to return with more clothes.

When they left, they left with 5 shirts, 3 jackets, 2 hats, 4 pairs of pants, modern underwear, and - to Inu-Yasha's horror - a pair of modern shoes.
Kagome watched and giggled as Inu-Yasha sulked. “Why do I have to have shoes?” He whined in annoyance.
Kagome rolled her eyes. “Because most places wouldn't even let us in if you didn't have shoes!” she said in exasperation. She figured because of everything Inu-Yasha had had to go through, they would have lunch at the noodle place in the food court. “Come on, let's get something to eat before I shop for my outfit.”
Inu-Yasha instantly perked up at the sound of food. Food would always make things better. He nearly dragged Kagome towards the place where the food smell was strongest.
Kagome laughed and had him find a place to sit while she went to go and order some food.
Five minutes later they were both happily munching on two bowls of yakisoba noodles.
“Kagome? Is that you Kagome?” A very male voice asked behind her.
`oh no…not here, don't let it be Hojo!' she cried out mentally as she turned around with a big smile. “Hojo! Pleasant surprise seeing you here!” she said with false enthusiasm. She glanced past him to see her three friends standing behind him.
Hojo smiled, “I got a message from Yuka that she saw you at the mall,” he said with his best smile. He glanced up at Inu-Yasha, who was blatantly glaring at Hojo.
“Hojo, this is,” she hesitated. `Time to nip this in the bud,' she thought. “This is my boyfriend, Inu-Yasha,” she heard Yuka, Eri, and Ayumi gasp in unison and she suddenly felt three sets of hands lifting her up and dragging her a short ways off.
“What do you mean boyfriend?!” “I Hojo was your boyfriend” “Wasn't Inu-Yasha running after Kikyo?”
Kagome looked at her three friends nervously. “Guys, I was never dating Hojo. We both decided it wouldn't work out,” She said trying to get her friends to back off.
“Good for you Kagome. I'm glad you and Inu-Yasha have finally worked everything out,” Ayumi said happily. She was the one of the three to ever really think Inu-Yasha and Kagome ever had a chance.
Kagome smiled and gave Ayumi a hug. “Thanks…guys…why did you call Hojo anyway?” Kagome asked suspiciously.
Eri and Yuka shifted their feet and Ayumi rolled her eyes. “They still think you and Hojo were meant to be. It's stupid, it really is. It's obvious you don't feel that way towards Hojo,” Ayumi said. She then grabbed Eri and Yuka's arms. “Well, we better leave you to your date with Inu-Yasha,” Ayumi said with a dreamy voice, “Come on you two.” She started dragging them off before they could argue.
Kagome waved and mentally made a note to call Ayumi to thank her. She looked after them sadly for a moment. She hadn't really spent any time with her modern time friends; in fact, she didn't really feel a connection to them anymore. She felt more of a connection with Sango, Miroku, and Shippo then she did Ayumi, Eri, and Yuka.
She shook her head and turned back to Inu-Yasha and Hojo, freezing in place when she saw what was going on. Hojo and Inu-Yasha were having a staring contest, they weren't talking and you could feel the tense vibe traveling between the two of them. Kagome gulped and quickly hurried to Inu-Yasha, tugging on his hitoe. “Inu-Yasha, we need to finish our shopping.” She said hurriedly, smiling kindly to Hojo. “It was nice seeing you again Hojo. I'm sorry Yuka and the others called you out here.” She said apologetically.
Hojo nodded and then reached into his pocket, pulling out one of his herbal teas. “Here, I thought you might like this. It's a new flavor my grandfather found,” He said, his eyes still a little tense as he glanced at Inu-Yasha.
“Uh…thanks Hojo, I'll see you around at school,” Kagome said as Inu-Yasha stood up and placed an arm around Kagome. She blushed and waved as Hojo nodded and walked off.
“What was going on between the two of you?” She demanded softly and she directed Inu-Yasha towards the other end of the store, where some of the better evening dresses were.
Inu-Yasha shook his head and shrugged. “Nothing really. After you were dragged off we sorta…stared at each other,” He shrugged again and Kagome chalked it down as a guy thing.
Kagome sighed and rolled her eyes as she wrapped her arms around one of his. “Well, forget about Hojo. We have just a little more shopping to get done and we can go back to my house,” She murmured gently and comfortingly.
Inu-Yasha nodded and whispered something that Kagome couldn't hear.

Kagome hid in the dressing room as Inu-Yasha waited outside on one of the chairs. She was choosing through several dresses to try and find “the one” that would look best. She didn't want Inu-Yasha to see until tonight, so she had to choose by herself. She hmmed to herself and finally made her decision. She picked up the other dresses and left the dressing room and walked to the front desk. She gave Inu-Yasha “move and die” look that kept him in his seat. She really wanted the dress to be a surprise. She had spent 30 minutes deciding and she wouldn't have the surprise be ruined.
She was able to pick out a pair of shoes a lot faster then it took the dress and she already knew what jewelry at home she would use.
She bit her lip as she looked at the receipt. She knew her momma wouldn't say anything, and Kagome had been careful about not spending too much. In fact, Inu-Yasha's clothes had added up to way more then what she was getting. `If momma is upset, we can probably return the clothes later.' She thought idly to herself as she went over to retrieve Inu-Yasha. “Ready to go home?” she asked with an overly sweet and mischievous voice.
“I'm afraid of what would happen if I said no,” He replied as he got up to follow Kagome out of the store.

They arrived home in about an hour and by then it was only about 4pm. “Momma, we're home!” She called out. Her momma happened to be in the living room watching TV at that moment.
“Welcome home dear, now go and get ready,” she said, not even looking up from the news.
Kagome grinned wickedly and hurried to get to the bathroom first. “You'll need to take a shower too Inu-Yasha,” Kagome said with a big grin. “When I'm done of course.”
Inu-Yasha hung his head and ran a hand through his bangs. What had he gotten himself into with all the shopping? Kagome still hadn't told him why they had needed to go shopping.
“You can get ready in my room Inu-Yasha,” Mrs. Higurashi said with a motherly smile. “I have a private shower you can use. Kagome might take awhile.” She added as she looked back at the screen.
Inu-Yasha nodded and bowed slightly to Kagome's mother. “Arigatougozaimasu,” Inu-Yasha murmured as he went up the stairs towards Mrs. Higurashi's room. As he passed the bathroom, he heard a light humming. He smiled slightly and continued on his way.
