InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ A Once Forbidden Love ❯ A New Brother ( Chapter 5 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Okay.

It's chapter five.

The hamster inside my head says that I am to make it Halloween when he arrives…

And I agreed…

But first:

I DO NOT OWN INUYASHA!

HE IS THE PROPERTY OF RUMIKO TAKAHASHI!

WE MUST THANK HER FOR CREATING THIS SEIRIES!

(bows down at shrine)

oh mighty creator!
beseech our humble pleas and create an all inuyasha channel!
(bows down at different shrine)
oh great Sesshoumaru!
please be a good fluffy in this story
and do not kill the children in costume!
(Sesshoumaru): shutup and leave me alone. And don't call me fluffy.

is_this_thing_on?: Nope. Kag's gonna call you that later in the story. Better get used to it now. Or I will not give you your tokijin back.

Sesshoumaru: fine. Now shutup and leave me alone…with kagome ;-)

is_this_thing_on?: Go do that somewhere else, okay?

Alright!

It's chapter five!

Please buckle your seatbelts and enjoy the flight!

Sesshoumaru was reeling-his senses were on full overload. He'd jumped down the well with no problem, and had landed in modern Tokyo. However, there was no scent of demons anywhere-instead there was a horrid stench of smog everywhere, and the stink of humans permeated the atmosphere.

His hearing was on the brink of driving him insane, also. The sound of strange monsters that reeked of smoke was blanketing everything, and strange bells were ringing everywhere, with children chanting the same thing: "Trick or Treat!"

Jumping out of the well, Sesshoumaru observed his surroundings. He was standing inside a small building inside of a shrine. There were strange lights shining outside-lights not made of fire! There was a large `house' near to him. He guessed that that was where Kagome lived. The humans here would probably object to him stealing from them.

Mulling over this, Sesshoumaru stepped out of the well building, not watching where he was going. All of the sudden, he tripped over something. Looking down, his eyes met that of an eight-year-old boy's. Sesshoumaru was astounded. This young child was dressed exactly like InuYasha, but on closer inspection looked like Kagome.

"Wow, mister, nice costume! But aren't you a bit old to be trick-or-treating?"

Sesshoumaru gazed down at the young one. "Child, what is this `trick-or-treating' that you speak of? And why are you dressed in the manner of InuYasha?" The boy's eyes widened. "You know InuYasha? But how? He's from the Feudal Era…right?"

The Taiyoukai's eyebrows drew together. "How do you know InuYasha?" The boy also frowned. "He comes here all the time to get Kagome back. I'm Kagome's little brother, Souta. Is InuYasha your brother, too? He's my Inu-brother. You look kinda like InuYasha…you have the same hair color." Sesshoumaru considered this. It was true. As much as he hated to admit it, InuYasha did bear a certain resemblance to him. "Yes, he is my…half-brother." Souta grinned, happy with the response. "Cool! What's your name?"

"Lord Sesshoumaru. I need to speak with your mother urgently. It is about Kagome."

Souta's grin immediately changed to a worried expression. "What's wrong? Is she hurt?"

***********

Mrs. Higurashi sat in the living room, waiting for more trick-or-treaters when she heard her son crying out to her. "Mom! Mom! Something's wrong with Kagome! InuYasha's brother is here too!"

InuYasha's brother? Oh wait-Kagome had told her about him once. She had said that he was a cold-hearted killer, and that he hated humans-except for one. There was a little girl called Rin that he took care of. But why was he here?

Sesshoumaru watched as the woman rushed out. She had a worried and frightened look on his face.

"Your name is…Sesshoumaru, right?"

The Taiyoukai looked up. The woman was holding her son to her, as if to keep him safe from something. "Why are you here? What has happened to my daughter? Where is InuYasha?

Sesshoumaru now realized why she was holding her son to him like that-she was afraid of him. He shook his head. "There is no reason to fear me, woman. I have only come to retrieve a thing that holds sentimental value for Kagome. It is required to wake her. As for your other question, I do not know what has happened to InuYasha, or his friends. It seems that they have all died. Your daughter, too, was dead until I bought her back to life."

At the last sentence, the woman's eyes shone. "My daughter was d-dead? And you bought her back to life?" Sesshoumaru nodded, not knowing what to do next. The woman rushed to him and embraced him. The demon was stunned, but he did not show it. All that he did was to gently and quickly pry her off of him. "Woman, you will refrain from touching me."

She nodded. "Thank you…so much. I'll go look for it, okay?"

***********

As he watched the woman run inside, Sesshoumaru felt a small tug on his kimono sleeve. He looked down to see the young boy looking up at him. "So InuYasha is dead?" Sesshoumaru nodded slowly, seeing the boy's eyes fill with tears. "That is what it looks like, young one. But I cannot say for sure, so do not cry. I am sure that he told you that this is not what a man does. Am I right?" The child nodded. "Then do not do so. If he was your Inu-brother, then you must strive to make him proud." Again, the child nodded, and spoke. "Did you do that too? Kagome once told me that you two fought a lot." This time it was Sesshoumaru's time to nod. "Did you make him proud of his big brother, also?"

"No…I did not." Sesshoumaru thought back on the various battles with his brother. Once, they had almost been friends, when InuYasha was yet a young child, and Sesshoumaru was in his seventeenth year. InuYasha had looked up to him then, and Sesshoumaru was actually a bit fond of the little hanyou that trailed after him everywhere that he went.

Interrupting his train of thought, he saw the young one looking up at him again, much like InuYasha had at that age. "Will you be my brother, then? If InuYasha is dead, then I won't have a brother…and since you're InuYasha's brother, I thought that, well…"

Sesshoumaru nodded. He understood what the child was trying to say. Bending down to the young one, he said, "Young one, I will try to be a brother to you as I was not to InuYasha. Please, though, do not tell any one of this. Your life would be on the line. The few demons in this time, weak as they are, still know who I am, and would most likely kill you to get to me. Do you understand?" The boy nodded, and smiled slightly. "Okay, Sesshou-brother. Please take care of Kagome when you get back to your time."

***********

Sesshoumaru was astounded again. Here he was, automatically caring for a human once more! Was it just the human emotions that Rin had awakened in him set to work again, or was it just something of this family line? Seeing the woman finally come out of the door, he straightened up. She bowed to him and said, "All things that have sentimental value she took with her to the Feudal Era. They're probably in her pack." He nodded, and quickly strode to the well and jumped back in, going to his own time.

Phew.

Glad that's over…

(walks over to Sesshoumaru)

c'mon, wasn't that a sweet chapter?

Sesshoumaru: shut up! Kagome's sleeping! (bends down and kisses her cheek)

is_this_thing_on?: Okay…well, as Sesshoumaru's getting way into character over there,

Kagome, strangely, doesn't mind…

Kagome: that's right! I like this chapter coming up next!

is_this_thing_on?: Riiiiiight…she's getting into character too, I see… okay. The next chapter will be in Kagome's mind. Do you guys think I should put in a lime (tamer than a lemon- somewhere later in the story, maybe)? Give me reviews and we'll tally the votes.

I think I should start writing another story….

I dunno….

It would be another Kag/Sess fanfic…

Set in the modern times!

(but first, I probably need to get a life…)

Right…

Bye ^_^
