Explosions behind them blood curdling screams ahead it seemed that no path was safe for the fleeing nobles. Two pairs of feet pounded against the wooden floor as they ran from one area of chaos to the other hoping to find a place of rest amidst the war zone. It had been a mere 2 hours since the invasion first began and already the palace was under siege soon to fall into the hands of the evil demon currently trying to take over the country. Stopping for a moment a silver haired man leaned against an undamaged wall to catch his breath still holding onto the smaller hand of his companion who was equally breathless.
“I don't know if I can go on...”
“You have to I won't let you die here…not like this...”
“But…but Dad…”
The child would have continued if not for his father once again moving dragging the boy along with him. Time seemed to fly by as they made their way down corridor after corridor of this never ending underground maze until they finally reached the end a bright light surrounding them as they stepped through the large archway. It took a minute for their eyes to adjust to the sudden change of brightness but through the squinting and blinking a small boat appeared before them.
Noticing that there was only room for two the silver haired man pushed his young son to the awaiting guard “Take him and go quickly!” Both the guard and the young prince wore similar expressions of shock “But your Highness!!!”
“Daddy don't!... You have to come with us you can't stay here”
“I'm sorry Sesshoumaru but there's not enough room and I must stay here and try to defend the castle. “I'll fight too…” Sesshoumaru frowned as the tall man who he only knew as father ruffled his hair with a smile “Someday you will my son but not today.” With a nod the guard dragged the boy kicking and screaming to the boat eventually having to knock the poor kid out so he wouldn't cause the boat to flip over.
“Be strong Sesshoumaru... I promise you are not alone in this world”
